Unable to set sga_max_size parameter through spfile
My 10g db running in spfile. I am trying to decrease sga_max_size to 1024M where i have 1504 now ...
Do i am not doing in a right way ? Please suggest me
i am trying like this .....
SQL> sho parameter sga
NAME TYPE VALUE
lock_sga boolean FALSE
pre_page_sga boolean FALSE
sga_max_size big integer 1504M
sga_target big integer 0
alter system set sga_max_size =1020M scope= spfile;
SQL>system altered
SQL> sho parameter sga
NAME TYPE VALUE
lock_sga boolean FALSE
pre_page_sga boolean FALSE
sga_max_size big integer 1504M
sga_target big integer 0
SCOPE=SPFILE would not change the in-memory value. So a SHOW PARAMETER would still show the previous value.
You must compare the SPFILE before and after the ALTER SYSTEM. (Don't copy the spfile in a text editor but make a copy of the spfile to view OR use the "strings" command on Unix/Linux . If you accidentally write to the spfile with a text editor you will corrupt it. So, the best way to check the value is to run a CREATE PFILE FROM SPFILE and view the pfile which would be the initSID.ora file.

E31 - Unable to set Bios values through WMI
Dear All,
I am trying to set Bios values on E31 through a VB Script using WMI in our lab. It is working on all the machines except one. It does not return an error while setting the value or saving it. But when I manually enter Setup, the values would not be set. No error is set in Event viewer.
Manually modifying the value works.
Machine type: E31 (2552CS4)
Bios Version: 9SKT61AUS
Values trying to set:
Select Active Video=IGD
Total Graphics Memory=128MB
Multi-Monitor Support=Enabled
Core Multi-Processing=Enabled
etc.
Command executed:
ObjItem.SetBiosSetting Select Active Video,IGD;
ObjItem.SetBiosSetting Multi-Monitor Support,Enabled;
ObjItem.SetBiosSetting Core Multi-Processing,Enabled;
Can anyone tell me what could be wrong with the machine. How it can be corrected.
Thanks in advance.
-UttamAre those values (WMI commands) actually changing anything from what the defaults are?
It's odd that you've seen it work correctly on other E31 systems but fail on only this one. Is there something in the configuration that's unique to this system as compared to the other E31 systems that passed with no issue?
In the failing scenario, which value(s) are not getting set correctly? -

linux 64 bitWhile SGA_MA_SIZE <> 0 then it seems SHARED MEMORY constructed according this setting.So it is not recommended to avoid automatic shared memory management.But if you decide this then you have to identify SHARED_PLOOL_SIZE,DB_CACHE_SIZE(in additionally LOG_BUFFER and LARGE_POOL) parameter manually and
ALTER SYSTEM SET SGA_TARGET=o scope=spfile and ALTER SYSTEM SET SGA_MAX_SIZE=o scope=spfile and restart database again.SQL> alter system set sga_max_size=0 scope=spfile sid='instance1';

I have just formatted by toshiba hardrive to Mac OS extended as recommended so I could upload movies onto it from my mac however I am now unable to watch these movies through my set top box like I could previously. How can I fix this?
Check the box's documentation to find out what drive formats it's capable of reading. Very few, if any, non-Apple devices natively support drives formatted as Mac OS Extended.

guruI finally had some time to find the actual syntax for tuning process.max-msq-qbytes and process.max-msg-messages. prctl will change those paramaters for an existing process.
As a proof of concept I changed process.max-msg-messages to a 64k. process 2221 is my shell.
prctl -n process.max-msg-messages -r -v 64k 2221
bash-3.00# prctl 2221

So long as I'm experimenting, I'll use projadd and add a new project which just includes me and not the rest of the users in the group staff.
bash-3.00# projadd -p 115 -U testuser \

...Solaris 10 has different tunables and default values from 8 and 9. It's default tunables should be good for most applications per a given system's hardware. There are some great blog articles, and discussions on opensolaris.org and blogs.sun.com on tuning that explain the intent of tuning and why we shouldn't have to tune.

Unable to set breakpoint in UIX file
I am trying to set a breakpoint in a uix file (within the xml itself ) and I receive an error. The breakpoint looks like it gets set in jDeveloper but the error displayed is:
Unable to set breakpoint ( searchRequest.uix ), unable to resolve Jave Package.
Can you not set breakpoints in the uix file itself? If not where should I look to set the breakpoint?
ThanksMore information: I have debug turned on in the uix_config.xml. I can see where it gets to the eventhandler named "goQuery"
<handlers>
<event name="goQuery">
<go name="query"/>
</event>
</handlers>
but the go is never executed.
04/11/18 15:03:35 Rendering page = Page[name=searchRequest]

04/11/18 15:09:28 Parameter companyId=6999
04/11/18 15:09:28 Rendering page = Page[name=searchRequest]
It looks like the forward "query" is never executed and when executing the submit, it resets the page. I would like to step through this to see what is occurring so that I can correct whatever is happenning. But not know where to set break points in the uix page is frustrating.

Keep SGA_MAX_SIZE parameter zero
Hi All;
Is it possible to keep SGA_MAX_SIZE parameter zero & set the SGA_TARGET to a certain value in oracle 10g.Dear 788442,
Here is the answer to your question if you set the SGA_MAX_SIZE to 0;
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14220/memory.htm#sthref1244
Oracle Database can set limits on how much virtual memory the database uses for the SGA.
It can start instances with minimal memory and allow the instance to use more memory by expanding the memory allocated for SGA components, up to a maximum determined by the SGA_MAX_SIZE initialization parameter.
If the value for SGA_MAX_SIZE in the initialization parameter file or server parameter file (SPFILE) is less than the sum the memory allocated for all components, either explicitly in the parameter file or by default, at the time the instance is initialized, then the database ignores the setting for SGA_MAX_SIZE.SGA_MAX_SIZE;
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14237/initparams192.htm#REFRN10198

Delete sga_max_size parameter.
Hi,
How do I delete the sga_max_size parameter, currently I have
SQL> show parameter sga_max_size
NAME TYPE VALUE
sga_max_size big integer 260641504
I want to delete this entry from the init.ora parameter and create a new spfile, but I don't see this entry in the init.ora file. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.Why do you want to 'get rid' of this parameter? Any particular problem with this?
Well, bad news, you cannot get rid of this parameter, even if you are able to 'delete' this parameter its value is dynamically computed at instance startup time. Now let's assume, since you haven't specified so, that you have manually set this value. Assuming that you have started your instance with spfile (not specified either) you need to issue the ALTER SYSTEM comand.
Check which initialization parameter file you are using, most probably, (if configured by default) you are using spfile, so from a command prompt issue the command:
show parameter spfile
This will let you know the path to this file.
Once you have found the file, just issue a CREATE PFILE FROM SPFILE; command, this will create a text parameter file you can modify, if you don't feel comfortable with the ALTER SYSTEM command. You can take it back to spfile by issuing CREATE SPFILE FROM PFILE;

Unable to set the selected value for a ADF LOV
Hi,
I am developing an application using jdeveloper 10.1.3 and Struts.
I have created a ADF LOV on my JSP Page as given below:
<html:select property="lob" onchange="javascript:selectLOB(this.form)">
<html:optionsCollection label="prompt" value="index" property="lob.displayData"/>
</html:select>
When i submit the form, i am able to get the value of the selected Value in the List.
JUCtrlListBinding listBinding = (JUCtrlListBinding) formBean.get("Lob");
Row r = (Row) listBinding.getSelectedValue();
String SoLob = (String) r.getAttribute("LobLob");
But i am unable to set the selected value back in the list when i return to the form again.
I tried the following:
int x = listBinding.getSelectedIndex();
listBinding.setSelectedIndex(x);
It would be really helpful if some one could let me know what needs to be done.
Thanks,
SubashiniGyan,
I tried with the code you suggest , its trying to set the value of a field, but my requirement is to change the property for
"Rendered" on the field so that based on search parameters we can hide result table column.
After searching online, I modified the controller code as follows
1.Created a new transient attribute (Testrender) with type "Boolean" and always updateable.
2.changed the "Rendered" property value on the field I want to hide as ${oa.PoSearchVO1.Testrender}.
3. Modified the controller code as follows :
OAApplicationModule am = pageContext.getApplicationModule(webBean);
OAViewObject testvo = (OAViewObject)am.findViewObject("PoSearchVO1");
OADBTransaction txn = am.getOADBTransaction();
if (testvo != null)
OARow row = (OARow)testvo.first();
if (a.equalsIgnoreCase("Approved"))
row.setAttribute("Testrender", Boolean.FALSE);
else
row.setAttribute("Testrender", Boolean.TRUE);
} But now when i run the page and populate the search field and click "Go" its hiding the field but throwing the following error and the search results are also bad.
Its using only the value of one search parameter but not the second one .
The search cannot be executed because the table has pending changes that would be lost. I think the vo is getting dirty when I update the transient attribute value. So I used txn.rollback ,then search is working fine but its not hiding the field.
So can you please let me know how to proceed from here ? -
Unable to set a top-level property object
Hey guys
I've made a little sequence to fetch data from a XML file. In that XML file, there is some informations (entries) (IP addresses, port numbers, etc) about 4 different types of devices(sections are the devices names). The first section of the XML tells me the NAMES of the devices I have to configure. The type of each device is located in the entries of each device. Each device has its own information and I can have more than one device of a type. In teststand, I've created custom data types (containers with empty fields) for each type of device I need.
I want to dynamically create the devices that the XML file tells me to configure as fileglobal variables and populate them with their own config informations (entries of the XML file). I'm creating new fileglobal of the type I want using PropertyObject step and I'm creating an alias of that fileglobal that I'm passing in parameter to a subsequence who's getting infos from XML. Here, everything is OK.
The problem occurs when I want to configure 2 or more objects of the same type. At the SetProperty step (where i'm creating the fileglobal variable) teststand gives me the error:
"Unable to set a top-level property object to another object. Error accessing item 'Parameters.DeviceToInitStruct'."
Is there any ways to avoid that problem and creating to variable of the same type ?
thanksHi
I finally got rid of that problem.
Instead of using a PropertyObject.Clone step, I used a statement who's just copy the "MasterObject" into a "CloneObject" and i'm working with that copy. So the sequence can now create devices of the same type without any conflict with the first device.
i'll post here a short example to show how i did... maybe it'll be useful for someone...

then i closed terminal and then when to disk utility and chose to repair disk with results all was fine. Then ran repair permissions and got similar results from terminal function next I erased disk and then chose to restore from time machine and it is now restoring! yea!
