Unable to start Latitude Studio as a Windows Service

I installed endeca-portal-2.2.2 on 64 bit windows server.
It is working fine if I manually start the portal's Tomcat instance.
But I am unable to start as a Windows Service.
I followed the directions in "Running Latitude Studio as a Windows Service" in the Installation Guide.
But I am getting the following error.
[2012-09-20 06:18:27] [info] Commons Daemon procrun (1.0.2.0) started

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

What version of the Apache tomcat zip did you extract the service.bat, tomcat6.exe and tomcat6w.exe? It looks like you are using the default java install, and the services is trying to start using the 64bit tomcat.exe.

    Hi,
If you see your logs, you server has actually started in "RUNNING" mode. Its only throwing lot of "ClassNotFoundException" because I guess they classes are not available in classpaths. If you know the "jar" which contains which are being complained, copy the jar files to "DOMAIN_HOME/lib" which is simple way to add jars to classpath.

  • Unable to start the weblogic server from windows environment

    Hi All,
In our training system we have installed the SOA 11g and it worked fine till today afternoon. We have logged off the admin user in windows account and logged with our login credentials into windows after that we are unable to start the weblogic server.
    - Earlier in the DOS command prompt we used to navigate to the path where the startWeblogic.cmd file located and then we execute the command, after that we will able to see the status message as RUNNING MODE in the bottom of the screen, and when ever we deploy an project using Jdeveloper in the weblogic server window some messages will appended based on the action.
    - Only when we issue the command to shut down the weblogic server at that time only the command will be back to the path from where we started the server.
    - After login to windows with our account, when we tried to start the weblogic server, it didn't throw any error instead of that after running few lines in the command window the prompt was back in to the (D:\Middleware\.....\Domains\bin)path from where we ran the command to start the server.
Please help us to resolve the issue asap.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Sathyaseelan

    Hi,
Make sure that the user which you are using to start weblogic server should be part of Administrator group or the group to which your admin user belongs to.

    You could try :-
    1. Execute the script “catalog_schema_drop.sql” under $HYPERION_HOME\products\Essbase\EssbaseStudio\server\database\common\MSSQLServer to drop the existing Catalog tables
    2. Bring up the Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio and login as sa
    a.Expand the Databases node
b.Expand the “epmesbStudio” under the Database node
    c.Expand the “Security” node
d.Right click on “Schemas” under the database “epmesbStudio” to bring up the “Schema” dialog:
e.From the Schema dialog, enter ”epmEsbStudio” for both Schema name and Schema owner, then click OK to create the schema.
    f. Verify that the schema “epmEsbStudio” is created:
    3. Expand the Users node under Security: (you should see the user “epmEsbStudio” listed under Users)
    a. Bring up the user Properties for “epmEsbStudio” by right click on “epmEsbStudio” then select Properties
    b. From the user Properties dialog, you can see the Default schema is dbo. Change the default schema to “epmEsbStudio”, which is the schema that we create in the above steps by click on the list button to bring up the Select Schema dialog:
    c. Click on the Brows button from the Select Schema dialog, and select “epmEsbStudio” from the list and click OK
d.The selected schema should place in the Select Schema dialog. Click OK on the Select Schema dialog:
    e. Now the schema “epmEsbStudio” should appeared as Default schema on the user Properties dialog.
    f. Now make sure the Database role membership “db_owner” is selected (select this option if it is not already select).
    g. Click OK to save the settings
    4. Bring up the Query editor from the Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio by click on the “New Query” and make sure the
5.Disconnect the query editor to any database by right click on the query editor select Connection To Disconnect
6.Connect the query editor to the database epmEsbStudio by right click on the query editor select Connection To Connect to bring up the Connection to Database Engine dialog
    7. From the Connection to Database Engine dialog provide the SQL Server name, Authentication type, and enter “epmEsbStudio” as the user name and provide the password for this user, then click on the Options button, then select the Connection Properties tab and enter “epmesbStudio” for Connection to database. Click on the Connect button (you should be able to connected without any error or warnings)
    8. Type the following statement in the query editor, and execute it. The query should be executed without any problem.
    Create table Test (
    col1 varchar(5)
    go
    9. Verify the table is created under the “epmEsbStudio” Schema:
    10.Delete the table “Test”
    11.Start the Essbase Studio Server
    The properties file should read
    Example in server.properties
    catalog.db=epmesbStudio.epmEsbStudio
    catalog.username=epmesbStudio
You can change "epmEsbStudio" to match your database being used for studio

  • Starting a class as a Windows Service??

Ive developed a server which has a startup class. What is the best way for me to install this class as a windows service that start up automatically at computer startup??
    please help... Im dying here
    thanx Iceland

You could create a BAT script that starts your Java program and then use the program SRVANY.EXE to register the BAT-file as a Service.
SRVANY is on the Resource Kit.
Perhaps you can use http://www.firedaemon.com/ instead.

  • Starting Business Connector as a window service

    Hi All,
I have installed BC server 4.6. I need to run this as a window service. Any idea on this ? Currently i start the server from the command prompt. But if i close the window, the server goes down.
    Your help is much appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    Normally the steps are:
    1) Install BC Application
    2) Download and implement Core Fix2 and Service Pack 3a (for 4.6)
    3) Install all packages and connections to SAP Production
    4) Set up BC application as Windows service
have you refer to SAP Notes:

  • JMS resource not located when starting Weblogic 8.1 as windows service

Can you post the error message? Are your custom connection factories targeted to the cluster?

  • Failed to start applications after deployed as Windows service.

I deployed Administration server as a Windows service. Started Administration server in Windows Serivices control panel. The applications FMW Welcome Page Application (11.1.0.0.0), DMS Application (11.1.1.1.0) failed. I also installed adf-richclient-demo, this application in prepared status.
It reported "java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: oracle.dms.wls.DMSServletFilter", when I tried to start the applications. However the applications are Ok by starting Administration server with domain\bin\startWebLogic.cmd.
Do any one know how to solve the issue?
    Thanks!

I asume you are using NodeManager to start AdminServer when you says "I deployed Administration server as a Windows service".
If so, make sure the jar file (jar that contains oracle.dms.wls.DMSServletFilter class) is added to CLASSPATH, that NodeManager uses to start the server. Node Manager starts a Server using the startup arguments configured for the Managed Server in the Server—>Configuration—>Server Start tab.
I suggest restart the NodeManager when you modify this properties.

  • Unable to start Oracle Application Testing Suite Application service

    Hi ,
I have installed OATS 9.1 successfully on my machine , but there is some problem in starting Oracle Application Testing Suite Application Service .
I am not able to access Oracle Test Manager , when i start the service manually it gives "Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion" error message .
Is there any explicit setting required after installation to start the service .
Please help me to get out of this problem .
    Thanks in Advance.

    Hi,
Is the Oracle XE service running? Did the database install go OK? Is there anything in the log files in c:\oracleats\logs to give us a hint - check out wls_oats.log and others in this location.
    Regards,
    Jamie
