Unable to Start Listener? ORacle 10.2.0 (solved)
I am on Oracle 10.2.0
I followed the necessary steps to the T.
I tried to Connect to the database using SQL*Plus:
sqlplus
system
system_password
select count(*) from dba_objects; #(This should
# return a count of the number of objects in the
# database)
But i was unable to connect. The problem is that i don't remember my system login and password? How do i resest these?
ERROR:
ORA-01034: ORACLE not available
ORA-27101: shared memory realm does not exist
Linux Error: 2: No such file or directory

Unable to start obiee11g oracle process manager
hi,
i am unable to start the server
console services are started and bni_server1 also started but oracle process manager is not running
please help
thanks
chinu–> Start NodeManager from the Command Prompt
Cd bi0104\wlserver_10.3\server\bin
startNodeManager.cmd
Wait untill you see message “Secure socket listener start at port……”
–> Start Admin server from command prompt
Cd bi0104\user_projects\domains\bifoundation_domain\bin
startWebLogic.cmd
It will ask for user name / password. Specify the user details that you used at the time of the Oracle BI 11g install. You could also use a ‘Boot Identity File’ -(boot.properties). Check the documentation for more details.
Wait untill you see message Admin server is in ‘RUNNING MODE’.
–> Now start Managed server from GUI
Access WebLogic console from a webbrowser
http://<machinename>:7001/console
Login, Environment > servers > Control > select bi_server1 > click on start
It would take some time for the Managed server to start. Wait untill you see the ‘Running’ status.
–> Now start the OBIEE components from command prompt
Cd bi0104\instances\instance7\bin
opmnctl startall
Note that it’s a possible startup sequence. There are multiple ways to statup.
i am getting all above messages all but not getting oracle process manager up in the services.msc
error : not getting up in timely fashion -1053
thanks

Now from reading everyone's posting regarding this issue, what is the problem here since my host file seems to be correct.
HELP!!!! IT WAS WORKING ABOUT 30 MINUTES AGO!!!!Thanks for everyone's help in this critical matter. So basically I am back at the begining. The listerner will not start. I have made all the changes that people have asked me to do and did a reboot. Also to answer onw question from a posting before, the only thing that changed was I tried to upgrade the DB to 10.2.0.3 and I was unable to. So I then removed the 10.2.0 ORACLE_HOME and I am left with 10.1.0.4.
Here is what I have done so far:

Error while starting Listener (Oracle 10.2.0.1)
I did not encounter any problem while installing the database. but as soon as I start the listner, I get an error saying "tnslsnr.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close."
Any clues to the cause and resolution to the problem would help.
ThanxYes, I was using Windows XP SP2
The problem was resolved. The solution might be strange but may help you all:
After DB is installed, check for the following env system variables:
ORACLE_HOME, ORACLE_SID, PATH, LD_LIBRARY_PATH
set these variables and restart the machine, it worked for me. Am really still not sure of the problem though.
thank you all for your help -

Why does the trace file indicate that the rwEng engine died with error?+
Again why does the rwURLEng engine start up and then immediately shut down?+
Thank you for your help on this issue.+OK, I did this once and did not follow the oracle docs
If you saved your targets.xml before you started you might save it by renaming it back.
(Double check to make sure you did not miss a rename)
Otherwise, all I have to offer is my rough notes:
1. Backup the file $ORACLE_HOME/sysman/emd/targets.xml.
[oracle@ias02 emd]$ pwd
/u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/sysman/emd
cp targets.xml targets.xmlbackup
2. Modify the file targets.xml by changing all the occurrences of the wrong reports server name by the correct one.
i.e. Replace rep_test_midtier with rep_new (4 places - changes)
Copy the conf file as follows: ( this will named different from system to system )
cp /u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/reports/conf/rep_pia_oracleas.conf /u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/reports/conf/rep_fam.conf
run this script:
/u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/bin/addNewServerTarget.sh rep_fam (change rep_fam to new report server name)
3.Update the changed configuration .
/u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/dcm/bin/dcmctl updateconfig -ct opmn -v -d
/u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/dcm/bin/dcmctl resyncinstance -v -d
4. Restart the Application Server Control Console
/u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/bin/emctl stop iasconsole
/u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/bin/emctl start iasconsole
In the file:
/u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/reports/config/reportsConfig.properties
Change the Reports_Server_Name setting from rep_test_midtier to rep_fam (change rep_fam to new report server name)
Best Wishes (I was able to save mime)
The other option is to reinstall -
Unable to start Oracle Process Manager from the windows services for OBIEE
Hi,
I have OBIEE 11g installed on a 32-bit windows machine. Of the two windows services installed, I am unable to start the Oracle Process Manager. When I try to start it I get the following error:
Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.
At the back end, this service is calling the file opmn.exe which is placed at MIDDLEWAREHOME\Oracle_BI1\opmn\bin. On trying to execute this file the error we get is:
The procedure entry point longjmp could not be located in the dynamic link library orauts.dll
I have tried replacing the orauts.dll file, but to no avail.
Please let me know if you have any clue regarding what is to be done.
Thanks
NamanHi Naman,
This error occurs for the following reasons,
*Path variable is not set properly
*Multiple Oracle homes exists in the same machine.
Follow the below steps and let me know if it works,
1. Select My Computer -> Right Click -> Properties
2. In the System Properties screen go to Advanced Tab
3. Click on Environment Variables
4. In the System Variables section select PATH variable & Click edit
5. Now you will find that it will contain invalid directories. Remove the incorrect entries. This may happen when you have multiple oracle homes in the same machine
6. Restart the service.

error while starting the listener and db is 9.2.0
The tns listener service started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they have no work to do for example the performance log and alert servicess
any help how to start it nowMushy wrote:
i am unable to start listener thats why the connectivity problem so jst suggest me brother wat to do to start listener
thanks a lotFirst Carefully do it.
Step 1:
Go to network configuration assistant.
Delete existing listener and then after deletion
Go to add new listener and after listener added
Go to Local net service configration assistant and add and give service name (your oracle sid) and give your host name (host name should be your computer name or ip address of your computer ) and after add it you should test it whether you can connect your database or not.
If you cann't connect,
Go to
Copy of your database tnsnames string ORCL Ex:\D:\oracle\ora92\network\admin\tnsnames.ora and
past it to tnsnames of devsuite ex:\c:\devsuite\network\admin\tnsnames.ora
Copy of
%oracle_home%\network\admin\tnsnames.ora open it and copy your database string.
ORCL =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = mazar)(PORT = 1521))
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SERVER = DEDICATED)
(SERVICE_NAME = orcl)
and then paste it to %dev_home%/network/admin/tnsnames.ora
after paste it
go to ping tnsping orcl. You can sure your oracle service is started here
if its ping , you should check listener also .lsnrctl>status
I'm sure ,if you're do properly follow above steps, you can connect easily. -
