Unable to start Oracle DataBase 11g on Linux machine
Hi friends,
Issue : NOT able to start the Oracle Data Base 11g on Linux machine
I've successfully installed Oracle-DB-11g on my Linux machine.
Note : I haven't declared or exported any variable(s) , actually I'm not sure how and where to do this.
Can someone look into my issue , and please let me know if i have to export any variables and how/where?
Thanks
Hi;
You need to set your env. or put them in .bash_profile file
Please see

Unable to connect to the informatica repository on oracle database 11g
hi all,
i have installed OBI Apps 7.9.6.0 with informatica 8.6.0 and no hotfix.
Now the problem is , when i create a repository service i get the error
" The service did not start due to the following error: *Unable to connect to the repository Oracle_BI_DW_Base on database* . " here Oracle_BI_DW_Base is also the name of my .rep repository that came with OBI APPS installation.
i have oracle database 11g installed and also created respective user for repository of informatica.
what should i do in this case??
plz helpGood Morning.
I had the same problem and I had the same IE 6, the problem was the translation between the IE6 from http and https, to solve it you just need to open your url typing
https:url:port, do no forget to put the s after the http, with this my problem was solved.
best regards.

Installing issues with Oracle Database 11g R1 on Red Hat Linux
Hi,
I am installing Oracle Database 11g on Red Hat Linux.
Version of the OS:Linux 2.6.9-5.ELsmp #1 SMP Wed Jan 5 19:30:39 EST 2005 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
I have installed XManager on my PC to access the runtime installer in Graphical mode.
But once i click the installer file from Xmanager, it asks if the user wants to run it in terminal or simply run.
I selected the run in terminal and it starts the terminal where the initial pre-requisite checks are done i.e swap memory, temp and display.
The screen disappers and the graphical OUI never turns up...
Any pointer would be helpful.
Regards
PrabalTry the following:
1. logon to the linux using root and issue the following command - xhost+
2. Open xterm in the Xmanager and logon to the linux using oracle user.
3. in the installation directory issue ./runInstaller.

Install Oracle Database 11g release 2 on Oracle Linux 6.0?
I'm running Oracle Linux Server 6.0, and am trying to install Oracle Database 11g release 2 on it. The installation is failing because it says I need "glibc-2.3.4-2.41", but I think the OS came with glibc 2.12.
How do I upgrade glibc on this machine to glibc-2.3.4-2.41?898649 wrote:
Thanks. What's UEK?UEK = Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel. It is installed by default with Oracle Linux 5 Update 7. Also, if you install the oracle-validated RPM (as part of the initial install or via yum afterwards), all the pre-requisites for installing database will be taken care of for you. -

TRY WINDOWS . but what about linux then? is there any solution on this error?
i am not much used to front-end ( java i mean). i am Oracle DBA Actually n want to install n try Weblogic
Kindly Help...You can just copy the relevant parts (the ones marked with error). You can also look at the timing
when it happened the reports environment did not start.
From what i remember this could be a memory issue, standard every managed server (WLS_FORMS and WLS_REPORTS) instance
is configured with 1024m bytes of memory.
What we did is first install a forms instance and after that a reports instance. After the forms installation we adjusted the
memory parameters in setWLSEnv (<middleware-home>/user_projects/domains/<domain-name>/bin). Look in this file
for references to WLS_FORMS (something similar to: if [ "${SERVER_NAME}" = "WLS_FORMS" ] ; then).
Another thing which springs to my mind is, which products did you select. If you just want Forms and Reports
you can select just the following:
- Oracle Forms
- Oracle Reports
- Developer Tools aan.
- Management Components
- Oracle HTTP Server
and deselect the other options:
- Oracle Portal
- Oracle Discoverer
- Oracle WebCache
- Clustered (if you are not using clustering)
We also had to fix the following files (i do not think that you have to do this since your Forms did not show any problems):
- (On Windows) Copy the file msvcr71.dll (FMW/windows/extra) to WINDOWS/system32.
- Copy the file mod_wl_ohs.so (FMW/<operating-system>/extra) to <middleware-home>/as_1/ohs/modules. -

Dates for "Oracle Database 11g: Performance Tuning" exam
Hi!
Today Oracle posted info about the new Oracle Database 11g Performance Tuning exam needed for the new expert certification:
http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=41&p_exam_id=1Z0_054#2
It says that pre-registration for the beta exam starts today, however, it does not say when the beta phase starts and ends. Does anyone know?
Thanks,
MarcusHello Hussein
Yes true, I remember it for the OCE and Linux exams they rescheduled the end date several times. As far as I know it is related to the number of participants and the given feedback.
I've also participated to several other exams, and I must admit that it is a long and hard process to get through. When I got the feedback 10 weeks after the beta period closure, I had to review nearly all the topics to get the exams passed the second time. But this it is a cheap and good exam preparation.
What about you Hussein? Do you think that's trivial?
Cheers,

Unable to start Oracle Instance via "dbstart"
I've successfully loaded Oracle 11g on a Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.3. I'm now trying to start the instance and database using the "dbstart". The command does not start the instance successfully or the database. I've pasted the results from the log below:
