Unable to update SQL Developer 4.0 EA1 to EA2

Hi All
Could any one please help me in updating SQL Developer 4.0 EA1 to EA2 using a Local File installation... I have a proxy which is blocking me from updating my SQL Developer..
I would appreciate if any once could share any link which contains a patch to upgrate to EA2 from EA1

as it is mentioned in the official release notes page (Oracle SQL Developer 4.0 Early Adopter Release Notes):
The Check for Updates option to upgrade between releases of SQL Developer is not supported. This utility is provided to install third party extensions, this includes the third party drivers required for migrations and to add additional version control extensions.
All new releases of SQL Developer require a full installation. Download and unzip the file into an empty folder. Ensure the "Use folder names" checkbox is checked when unzipping the file.
Migrating from Previous Releases
After you have installed the product you are asked if you want to migrate from a previous release. This migrates previously set preferences and connections created: By default the Confirm Import Preferences dialog that is displayed selects the latest installation. Select Yes to migrate the settings from that release or click the Show All Installations button to browse to an earlier installation..."

again, again, again and again,,, :-(

Hi Simon,
I found cause of update failure! It was the HTTP proxy setting.
I turned off "Use HTTP proxy server" checkbox in SQL Developer -> Tools -> Preferences -> Web Browser and Proxy.
After this action SQL Developer was successfully updated with Times Ten Extension.

Background
1. Weblogic 10.3.6.0 running on Oracle Linux 6.5 with Oracle JRockit(R) (build R28.2.3-13-149708-1.6.0_31-20120327-1523-linux-x86_64, compiled mode)
2. Oracle Apex 4.2.1
3. Apex Listener 1.1.3
4. Apex and Apex Listener running on the Weblogic box above
5. SQL Developer 4.0.2 running on Windows 7 64 bit / Java 1.7.0_55
Updated Apex to 4.2.5 via p17966818_425_Generic.zip patchset. Apex environment running fine as do all applications via Listener 1.1.3
Updated Oracle Listener to the latest version of Oracle REST Data Services 2.0.7
Current Status
Apex Applications and RESTful services are running fine.
Problem
Unable to connect SQL Developer 4.0.2 to Oracle REST Data Services 2.0.7
Error message in SQL Developer - Cannot connect to DEV. HTTP/1.1 403 Target service not allowed

Steps followed -
1. The oracle users APEX_LISTENER and APEX_REST_PUBLIC_USER did not exist, so I ran apex_rest_config.sql from the APEX 2.4.1 patchset whilst connected sys as sysdba and provided the same password as APEX_PUBLIC_USER for both users.
2. I also ran
grant insert, delete on APEX_040200.wwv_flow_rt$privilege_groups to APEX_LISTENER;
alter session set current_schema = APEX_LISTENER;
create or replace synonym wwv_flow_rt$privilege_groups for APEX_040200.wwv_flow_rt$privilege_groups;

Further to the above post, I thought I'd simplify my Apex Listener install just to see if I can connect to it via SQL Developer
So downloaded the latest version 2.0.8 and decided to configure and run the Listener on my pc whilst still connecting to the same database.
Operating system : Window 7 Pro 64 bit
Oracle Apex Listener 2.0.8
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0_25-b17)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 23.25-b01, mixed mode)
Went through the configuration as above, once started I tried again to access the listener via SQL Developer. This time I received this output from the listener:

Oracle SQL Developer 2.1 EA1 and 1.5.5 not working on MacOS X Snow Leopard

Currently, the Oracle SQL Developer 2.1 EA1 and 1.5.5 are not working on MacOS X Snow Leopard. Is there a plan to support the actual version of OS X?
When I try to start the MacOS X-Download I always get the following errors using MacOS X 10.6.1:

I don't have any problems with my OS instead of you.
I have already told you what to do, if you have no idea how to do that just go and buy yourself another support subscription from your mac support.
The missing class is not available from any code-source or loader in the system. check that.
what version of JAVA do you have in your fancy OS? most of the time upgrade java to the latest version will fix the issues.
Update java from sun website not from another mac tore.

SQL Developer 3.0 EA1 creates case senstive account names

Hi,
When creating a new account with SQL Developer 3.0 EA1, the user name is enclosed in quotes. This creates a case sensitive account name which creates problems when trying to sign. Historically account names have been converted to uppercase internally and during the logon sequence this is expected behavior. Not sure why the SQL Developer 3.0 EA1 team has chosen to start encapsulating usernames during creation in quotes?
Example of create user statement from 2.0

CREATE USER why_this_old_way IDENTIFIED BY scott ;

GRANT "RESOURCE" TO why_this_old_way ;
GRANT "CONNECT" TO why_this_old_way ;
Example of create user statement from 3.0 EA1.

Having case sensitive object names greatly increases the complexity unnecessarily, please don't implement this approach.

Please tell me how you accessed the create user UI. Is this new "functionality" occurring from the DBA Navigator?
It's looking like it changed in both dialogs to me are you seeing the same thing? I'll dig in and see why this was changed.

Issue with viewing Package Body in SQL Developer 2.1 EA1

I was able to view the package body from different schemas after I log in with user account in SQL Developer 1.5.5.
But with SQL Developer 2.1 EA1, I could view only spec and I can see the package body only if I log in with DBO account.
Is there any setting that needs to be configured to be able to view the package body?

It's Oracle 9i.
What I meant 'spec' is you can see only the headers you defined in spec. You can expend the package and be able to see the all functions and procedures but you won't be able to see the '%packagename% Body' where all the detail code were written.
As I mentioned in my previous post, with SQL Developer 1.5.5 version, you can see spec and package body if you expend the package.

Unable to update SQL in SQL developer

I suddenly started having issues with my SQL developer no allowing me to update my SQL. I can open an existing .sql file or create a new one but it isn't responding to some of the my keyboard strokes. I can type new text but it doesn't respond to the enter key , backspace, delete, arrow keys. Also, shortcuts like ctrl 'c', of the Function keys aren't working either. It is almost like the scroll lock is on but it isn't. This is the only application on my laptop with this issue and i have uninstalled and reinstalled since this started.
Does anyone have other suggestions?

I have same exact problem with SQL Developer ver 1.5.4. My help desk team uninstalled and reinstalled the SQL Developer, but the problem exists. I have changed few options and tried using default settings with no luck.

SQL Developer 3.0 EA1 - Query Result assumes keyboard focus

In the Early Adopter 1 release of SQL Developer and noticed that after running a statement in a worksheet the focus for the keyboard is now in the query results pane. This change in behavior from version 2 is slightly disruptive and makes it harder to iteratively build queries or search for data without having to continuously keep moving the cursor back to the worksheet. I am using the linux version if it makes a difference and it happens both when click the run statement button or use the ctrl+enter shortcut key.
I have been trying out the preview release and all around it looks good and has some very nice improvements. Just this and the missing export to clipboard are the only issues I've had so far.

I agree with the majority of people here that this is annoying and I'd also prefer to leave the input focus in the SQL Worksheet after I hit CTRL+ENTER, so I am looking forward to the fix.
However, in some cases, it would come in handy if there was a shortcut key to quickly get to the query result tab, just like in TOAD, where F6 is used for this purpose. The same key is reserved for autotrace in SQL Developer, so another function key could be used.

Sql Developer Data Modeler 3.0 EA2: Custom Rules

Hi,
I'm trying to write a validation rule that checks that all tables in a relational model exist in at least one subview. However, I can't seem to find a method that gives me a list of the subviews, is there one?

From what you wrote it seems like the simplest way to perform this validation would be to loop
through the entities and for each call getAffectedDPVs(). Then loop through the DesignPartViews
and invoke isMainDiagram() on those. If the only references are on the main diagram then this
would be the type of 'error' I'm looking for.
However when I call getAffectedDPVs() on an entity I get an undefined object in Javascript/Rhino.
The following produces a dialog in which the views.length is displayed as 'undefined'
entities = model.getEntitySet().toArray();

So I tried to follow the second thread you mentioned.
I was able to use
subViews = model.getDesign().getLogicalDesign().getLogicalDesignSubviews().toArray();
to get a list of the SubViews in the Logical model.
However it is not clear what class of object this method returns. I didn't find anything called a SubView or LogicalDesignSubview.
In addition I didn't find any class which has methods such as getModel(), getTVEntities(), getTVRelations(), etc.
The datamodeler/xmlmetadata/doc/details.html documentation seems to be very incomplete.
In addition you make mention of 'if you look at defiinition of DesighPartView'...
There are no definitions in the details.html file as shipped with the product. There are just lists of properties, getters, setters, etc.
In addition, whenever a method is described as returning a collection of some type (list, set, collection) it is not clear what class
is contained within the collection.
Does your team have plans to produce/release standard Javadocs for these classes at some point in the future?
I think it would help a lot to let people exploit the scripting feature and reduce the amount of questions you receive on these forums.

Oracle SQL Developer 1.5.5 Unable to save data in nvarchar2 column

If I change the contents of a column in a table with Data Editor i get this when trying to save change:
UPDATE "ADMIN"."T_AZIENDA" SET DESCRIZIONE = 'PIPPO' WHERE ROWID = 'AAAMrpAAEAAAI0XAAA' AND ORA_ROWSCN = '556217'
One error saving changes to table "ADMIN"."T_AZIENDA":
no other error is shown.
If i copy & paste and run the same update from SQL Worksheet i get no error (1 rows updated).
I have no problem to update other column type (date, number) but only with type NVARCHAR2.
With SQL Developer 1.5.4 Build-5940 i have no problem.

Also with SQL Developer 2.1 EA1 i have no problem.

Sql developer won't connect to internet to check for updates

When I try to check the latest updates, Sql Developer (2.1.0.63) says it can't access to Internet in order to search for updates.
The credentials that I gave are correct (proxy, port, username, password) : when I click on the "Test Proxy" button, it says everything is OK.
But when I click on the "OK" button, it won't connect.
Then I click on the "Cancel" button, and check the details and get the following stack trace:

SQL Developer 1.5 Missing DB Connection Tabs

After installing SQL Developer 1.5 EA1 in a new directory, I do not have the Sybase, MS SQL, MYSQL tabs when I try to create a new entry in the Database Connection window. Is this a Java problem? I have many database drivers and tools installed on the same workstation.

I've installed SQL Developer 1.5 EA3 (sqldeveloper-5304.zip incl JDK1.5.0_06) on Windows XP (service pack up to date).
I've downloaded http://download.sybase.com/pub/jConnect/jConnect-6_05.zip for Sybase connectivity and unzipped to "C:\Program Files\sybase\jConnect-6_0"
I add the drivers under Prefs > Database > Third party drivers as:
c:\Program Files\sybase\jConnect-6_0\classes\jconn3.jar
and/or
c:\Program Files\sybase\jConnect-6_0\classes\jTDS3.jar
When adding a connection, I only get Oracle and Access tabs (not a Sybase one too).
Moving the .jars to a path without spaces didn't help.
Please help.

I ran an import and here's what the log showed...so it looks like SQL Developer EA 3.1 uses the production version of SQL Data Modeler...3.0.
