Under Site Contents - Where is the add a Page or Web Part Page option.

It seems the only way to add a page to a site is to create a document library first.

Where is the SitePages Document Library.
Up next to SkyDrive I click Sites. I select "My Child Site" It is a brand new site. Under the Cog there is Shared With, Edit Page, Add an app, view site contents and getting started. On the left I have Home, Site contents. If I go into Site contents I have
the option of Lists, Libraries and other Apps or the option to create a new subsite. 
Just to be sure I clicked Create a new Subsite". Once it is up I still don't have an option to create a page. And under the Cog I have the same settings as before.
It seems like I have to create a document library app, create a page in the library, Add the app as a web part to the home page and then have a lot of clutter from the document library app. e.g. +new document or drag files here, current view... As opposed to
a list of links to the pages. 
It seems like a site should also be a document library or list to begin with. 
I could swear in 2010 when you were in a new site you could could click create a page from the home page.

    Hi Jasper - I added a newfeed webpart on the blank web part page. It is working fine in Post and Replies. But the news feeds are not appearing on my site. I explored that were is it storing data and found it is going in the Microblog list. How can I see
    the news feed on my site? I checked the my-site is configured and working. Other Ideas and Opinions ect.. I can see on my-site. 
    Any thoughts.

    I found out that my-site also has Microblog List. Each site collection has it's microblog list. Site Feed webpart stores data in their respective list. I am wondering if we can show my-site's news feed on my homepage which is in my root site collection.
    Any thoughts.

  • Issue in treeview control along with page viewer web part showing the sub sites from MMS

    hi,
    Am having a treeview control populates  with values from  MMS - Managed Metadata Service.
    [ Products ]
    ----->ms office 
                ----->word
                ----->excel
                 ---->powerpoint
    -------->Collaboration
                     ---->   sharepoint 2003
                     ---->  moss 2007
                     ----> sp 2010
                     -----> lync
     all these  values excel, word, powerpoint are sub sites created under ms-office site collection.
    and  sharepoint 2003, mos 2007, sp 2010, sp 2013 are  sub sites created under collaboration.
    now, on the page load, end user clicks on word and he should navigate to the  sub site "wordsite"  and it should show the home page of word sub site.
    we have created a  page viewer web part and  assigned the url property of the page viewer to the sub site url.
    but the issue is, when end user clicked  on the child node "powerpoint", the  page did a Post Back and treeview control immediately collpased and it shows the Products [top level - parent node] only.
    Am unable to set the current selected value- ie  here its excel and show the excel node in the trewview.
    how can i get this child tree node as the selected node.
    help is  highly appreciated!

    Forget hotel technical support. All they'll do is refer you to a toll free number to the other side of the globe where somebody will tell you to click a Start button, or something. It's an utter waste of time.
    What you describe is a "captive network" and yes, the need to authenticate each and every time you shut down your Mac or let it sleep is a common annoyance. The IT idiots that sold the Internet package to the hotel chain is long gone. Complain to whomever you can find, and perhaps one day they'll address their own incompetence. Until then keep your Mac connected, don't shut it down or let it sleep. Even then you may find yourself logged out from time to time, which you might not even become aware of until web pages stop loading. You can do nothing to fix it, other than to refuse to frequent that hotel chain. Be sure to tell them why.

    Hi, I am facing an issue while creating a new web part page (Safeunit.aspx) within a folder (Safematic Seal Support Systems) located under a Document Library (Product Information Documents).
    The path I am explaining:
    Going to the Document Library (Product Information Documents) --> now inside that, clicking on a folder (Wet Seal Support
    Systems) --> now inside the folder clicking on another sub-folder (Safematic Seal Support Systems) --> Here I want the web page Safeunit.aspx
    Issue is that when I reach to the required destination, and want to create the web page by clicking on 'Site Action' --> 'Create' --> 'Web Part Page', now while selecting the Document Library name from the drop-down list, I do use 'Product
    Information Documents' since the folder is inside this library only; but that create the page directly under the 'Product Information Documents' library, not under the sub-folder (Safematic Seal
    Support Systems).
    FYI, it is SP2007 version.

    I see that you have the namespaces reference in your code.
    I think you have changed the NameSpace name of your code to CreateSPFolder, change the reference in all your manifest, and other files to point to the current namespace name. It should help.

  • Hiding the outline section of PPT converted to HTML in Page Viewer web part

    Hello,
    I've converted the PPT (Office 2010) to HTML using .SaveAs command. I'm adding this HTML on my SharePoint site in a page viewer web part. I get an outline section for PPT which shows all the slides. By default, I want the outline section to be closed (collapsed)
    so that I see PPT slide in full view.
    Has anyone done this before?

    When we save PPT as HTML page, the PPT HTML page uses a lots of html pages and JavaScript functions to show the slides in a web browser. When we click "Outline" button, we can be able to show or hide the outline. Actually, this button uses JavaScript to
    do so.
    In this case, in order to show full page on load, we can simulate the action that clicking the "Outline" button onload.
    Open the PPT HTML folder(if we save PPT to HTML, there will have a folder)
    Open the file outline.htm with text editor
    Modify the Load function to be:

  • Keeping Page Viewer Web Part Content Exclusive to Each Workspace Instance

    I would like the Page Viewer Web Part to display different content for each instance in the workspace. The Shared Documents list already does this, but for some reason, when I display content in the Page Viewer, it applies to all instances.
    I'm using the workspace for meetings and I would like to display the respective agenda for each meeting date.

  • Views for list web parts. Is there a way to allow users to change the view for a list web part without being redirected?

    I added a list view web part into a SharePoint 2013 page and it  is working as expected, except for one thing.
    I have enabled the option for the user to change the view for the web part. However when the user changes it, the user is redirected away from the page containing the web part, to the URL of the list itself.
    Is there a way to circumvent this issue so when the user selects a different view it updates the listing in the web part itself, rather than the user being redirected?

    Hi,
    Please understand that one page can only display one view. You could find it out by observing the Address in browser when switching among different views for a list.
    If you would like to change the view of a list web part, you could go to web part propertites > Select view and configure it.

    I am relatively new to Web Parts pages.  I created a page with list view web part and a Infopath Form Web Part, which are connect via the "Get Form From" option.  My users would like to be able to use views dependent on what
    they are looking for.  So I created different views.  However, when I select the view from within the Web Part, it changes the web part page to the list view page.  I must be doing something wrong.  How do I configure the list view to show
    the selected view and results within the existing "list view web part"?

    Sorry, but this has not been answered to my liking.  The "List View Web Part" has the ability for the user to select the view from within the web part, so there you should be able to select a different view and have it appear within the same web part. 
    Does anyone know how to complete this task?

  • Why can't I create a BI Web Part Page in the folder I am currently in

    When I am in my Report Library\Finance and select New Document>BI Web Part Page it takes me to a form with only three options Name, Layout and Save Location. Makes sense, but why doesn't the save location offer "Current Location" as an option.
    Right now I have to save to "Library" which puts the page in the root and then move it via windows explorer.

    From your description, you might have a “Finance” folder in the Report Library, then you want to create a web part page and save in this “Finance” folder by default.
    I tried to reproduce like this: I go into the “Finance” folder, then create a web part page, in the “Location” group, it set the “Folder” as the current folder.
    What if you create a new Report Library and do the test again, will the “Location” be set as the current folder?

  • How to I add options to the Context Menu for html files under Site Content

    Currently in Web Page Composer...  if a developer wants to get the Target URL to an html page in a WPC site (i.e. under the Site Content folder) they have to take several steps...   Content Menu -> Details -> Settings -> Properties -> Access Links -> copy the Target URL.  I would like to add this ability (i.e. to copy the target URL to clipboard) as a option to the "context menu" of each html file.  Does anyone know if this is possible and if so how it can be done?   It can be a global change if necessary.

    Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
    See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
    If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
    You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
    You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
    Also check the Mouse driver settings in the Control Panel.

  • What are the drawbacks to adding a Site Content Type to the Document Site Column?

    I have a client who has enough SharePoint knowledge to be dangerous.
    They are requesting that a Column be added to all Document Libraries everywhere.  We built a solution that would require a bit of work when a Site Collection is created, and it would require that we run a script to identify if there are any Libraries
    that do not have this Column attached.
    This client wants to know why we didn't just add this Column to the default Document Site Content Type.  I don't know specifics as to why that's not a good idea, just that it's not a good idea.
    Can anyone point me to a resource that identifies the reasons why this is not recommended?

    I'd say there's a risk that patches or upgrades could be affected by this, or overwrite the change.
    In the past I've derived a Company specific Document Content Type from the Base Document CT, and added any new company wide columns to that new CT.
