[ORACLE9I] UNDO TABLESPACE를 변경하는 방법
===================================
PURPOSE
Oracle9i에서 Undo tablespace를 auto mode로 사용할 때, UNDO Tablespace를
변경하는 방법을 알아보자.
Explanation
종종 UNDO Tablespace를 변경해야 하는 경우가 있다. 예를 들어 Undo
CREATE UNDO TABLESPACE UNDOTBS2
DATAFILE '/home/oradata/undotbs.dbf' SIZE 100M;
2. undo tablespace의 이름을 변경하려면 다음과 같이 실행한다.
ALTER SYSTEM SET UNDO_TABLESPACE = UNDOTBS2;
3. 기존에 사용하던 undo tablespace를 drop 한다.
DROP TABLESPACE UNDOTBS1;
4. spfile이 아니고 initSID.ora file을 사용하는 경우에는 initSID.ora
file에 undo_tablespace parameter의 값을 새로운 undotbs2로 변경시킨다.
Example
예를 들어 기존에 사용하던 UNDO tablespace가 가진 datafile의 size가
너무 크게 늘어나서 새로운 undo tablespace로 변경하는 방법을 알아보자.
1. 우선 현재의 undo tablespace name을 확인한다.
SQL> show parameter undo_tablespace
NAME TYPE VALUE
undo_tablespace string UNDOTBS
2. UNDOTBS와 대체할 새로운 undo tablespace를 생성한다.
그때 아래와 같이 자동으로 늘어나되, maximum size를 지정할 수 있다.
SQL> create undo tablespace undotbs2
2 datafile '/home/oradata/undotbs2.dbf' size 10m
3 autoextend on maxsize 100m;
3. 생성된 undo tablespace를 확인한다.
SQL> select tablespace_name, contents, extent_management
2 from dba_tablespaces
3 where contents = 'UNDO';
TABLESPACE_NAME CONTENTS EXTENT_MAN
UNDOTBS UNDO LOCAL
UNDOTBS2 UNDO LOCAL
4. undo tablespace에 설정된 rollback segment를 확인한다.
SQL> select segment_name, tablespace_name, status
2 from dba_rollback_segs
3 order by 2;
SEGMENT_NAME TABLESPACE_NAME STATUS
SYSTEM SYSTEM ONLINE
_SYSSMU1$                      UNDOTBS                        ONLINE
_SYSSMU2$                      UNDOTBS                        ONLINE
_SYSSMU3$                      UNDOTBS                        ONLINE
_SYSSMU4$                      UNDOTBS                        ONLINE
_SYSSMU5$                      UNDOTBS                        ONLINE
_SYSSMU6$                      UNDOTBS                        ONLINE
_SYSSMU7$                      UNDOTBS                        ONLINE
_SYSSMU8$                      UNDOTBS                        ONLINE
_SYSSMU9$                      UNDOTBS                        ONLINE
_SYSSMU10$                     UNDOTBS                        ONLINE
_SYSSMU11$                     UNDOTBS2                       OFFLINE
_SYSSMU12$                     UNDOTBS2                       OFFLINE
_SYSSMU13$                     UNDOTBS2                       OFFLINE
_SYSSMU14$                     UNDOTBS2                       OFFLINE
_SYSSMU15$                     UNDOTBS2                       OFFLINE
_SYSSMU16$                     UNDOTBS2                       OFFLINE
_SYSSMU17$                     UNDOTBS2                       OFFLINE
_SYSSMU18$                     UNDOTBS2                       OFFLINE
_SYSSMU19$                     UNDOTBS2                       OFFLINE
_SYSSMU20$                     UNDOTBS2                       OFFLINE
위와 같이 한번에 하나의 UNDO tablespace만 설정할 수 있다.
5. 새로운 undo tablespace를 지정한다.
SQL> alter system set undo_tablespace = undotbs2;
위와 같이 실행한 후에 4번의 sql을 다시 실행해 보면 이번에는
undotbs 의 rollback segment들이 모두 offline되고 undotbs2 의
rollback segment 들은 online된 것을 볼 수 있다.
6. 기존의 undo tablespace를 drop한다.
SQL> drop tablespace undotbs;
7. spfile이 아닌 initSID.ora를 사용하는 경우는 initSID.ora file에
undo_tablespace parameter의 값을 해당 tablespace, 여기서는
undotbs2로 변경시켜 둔다.

  • Undo reduce file size

    Worked up documents on Pages with multiple photos, some at high resolutions. Reduced file size for emailing and sending to dropbox and now want to print in an 18" x 24" size. Sample print is very blurrry How do I undo reduce file size? Would exporting file via pdf (best file quality) help? Any other suggestions. Much aprreciated.

    Hi Trudy,
    Reducing file size works by reducing the file size of any high resolution images to 72 dpi, OK for on screen use, but quite pixelated if printed or enlarged. Here's an example:
    Here's the original—This is a detail, enlarged to 400% on the screen, but reduced by the discussions software to fit on this page. Note the spider web below the frog.
    Here's the warning you get when you choose Reduce File Size:
    Note that it says it "replaces" the original versions of the images. Scarey thought, but not as permanent as it appears.
    Here's the result:
    The frog's snout is quite pixillated, and the web has almost disappeared, as has much of the texture of the frog's skin and of the rough-sawn cedar siding behind. Again, a 400% enlargement on the screen, with the reduction imposed by the discussions software.
    If you act at this point, it is possible to undo the change—throwing out the edited image and replacing it with the original version. The option appears to remain available even after the document is Saved, but disappears when it has been Closed. That would make sense, as Saving both the reduced image and the full version would not result in a reduction in file size.
    But there's one other factor: When you drop an image onto a placeholder in Pages, the image that is inserted is a COPY of the original image file. The editing referred to above is done with that copy, not with the original image file, which continues to exist, unchanged where it was before being inserted.
    To get the hi-res version back, then is a matter of dropping the original file onto the placeholder again.
    Seems to work.
    Regards,
    Barry

  • Undo closed file...

    Hey!
    Well, I'm currently working with bunch of images, with different names, and it happens when i'm closing document with Ctrl+F4 to close two documents, not just one... It would be great to have feature like in modern internet browsers to "Undo closed file" or something like that... I know that i can see last open files, but that is last "OPENED" files, not closed....
    thanks,
    tomaxxi

    Like, even something that you didn't even save once? Like an Untitled-1 document?
    I kind of like this idea, but how exactly would you propose to implement it?
    I guess there could be document history, but also a layer of application history that you could access by just clicking on the gray area behind all of the document windows; thus, unselecting any open documents?
    Hmm...
    well, I think that is logic to have just list of closed files that are saved,
    or just loaded and closed without saving...
    so, I suggest to have maybe just expandable menu item like last loaded list,
    or maybe re-sort loaded list when file is closed and put it on top of list....
    i think it's not much work to do...

  • Non Archivelog Database- Undo Data files Deleted-How to Open Database ??

    I am doing some test in Lab server.
    Unforunately Undo Tablespace datafiles are deleted from the server.
    Database is running in No archivelog Mode and I don't have any any type of Backup.
    Last one week, i was doing only read only work with database. So Not really concern how much i will loose.
    The biggest worry is How can I open the database with existing datafiles ????
    Regards ,
    Sumit
    Edited by: Sumit2 on Aug 27, 2009 12:57 PM

    If any active transaction or data needed by any of the session for rollback then it will be difficult to recover those transaction and your database data will be in inconsistent state. As you were doing only read only activity you can safely recover the database.
    just comment undo tablespace and undomanagement parameters init.ora file and restart the database.
    Once database is up create new undo tablespace and assigning it as default undo tablesapce tablespace.

  • Why are double undo.Z files no hard links to save diskspace?

    Hi,
    many undo.Z under /var/sadm/pkg files exist twice:
    <pkg>/save/<patch id>/undo.Z and
    <pkg>/save/pspool/<pkg>/save/<patch id>/undo.Z
    Why are these files not hard linked? Is there a technical reason for that?
    It would be nice to save some space in /var/sadm/pkg ...
    Thanks.

    Good to know why undo.Z can't be hard linked. Thank you!
    If diskspace is an issue, you might find this document useful:
    http://sunsolve.sun.com/search/document.do?assetkey=1-9-14295-1
    Sorry, have no service plan, don't ask why, i'm private.
    Yes i have diskspace problems, /var slice was configured too small (1GB).
    First i tried moving /var/sadm/pkg to a larger slice, made pkg a symlink.
    That does not work, SUM means no patches have been installed.
    Second try was to move completly /var/sadm to a larger slice.
    This seems to work good with SUM.
    But today i was wondering about that someone changed the symlink /var/sadm back
    to a new directory and put only 'smc/...' into it.
    Now i know who it was: i run 'smosservice add' to prepare a diskless client.
    sadm/smc/smcreg was modified on the symlinked tree, after that /var/sadm was
    switched back to a new directory. This makes /var/sadm completly useless,
    e.g.: 'showrev -p' answers with 'opendir' :-)
    Ok, if i changed something i should not think all will work, so i think about a new
    installation with much more space for /var.

  • Undo batch file name

    I renamed a number of just-imported photos using Photos Batch Change, and then went on to import another group of photos, and create some additional folders. I then noticed that I had accidentally highlighted the Library folder instead of the Last Roll folder listed next to it, so the entire Library of named photos was renamed into the "new filename, 1-10,066".
    I did a number of Edit Undos, but there must be a limit to how many of those iPhoto 6.06 allows, as I could not get back to the Photo Batch Change operation.
    Any way to go back to the "original" names - I have not closed out of the application yet. Or must I go get my last backup copy of the library file? And if so, how to cleanly do that?

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions. If by "original names" you mean the file name at the time of import, select those photos you want to recover and use the Photos->Batch Change->Title to File name option. However, if you had retitled the files and want to get back to those added titles then follow Smtr's suggestion regarding a recent copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file. That file is the heart and soul of the library.
    To make it easier to recover from similar issues in the future see the tip at the end of my signature below:
    TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
    I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
    Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • How to undo the file sharing in your internal hard drive in Macbook?

    I thought the way to lock and unlock a file would also be the same procedure when locking the internal hard drive?
    Basically what happened is that I have an icon on my desktop (top-right corner) where I can access my applications, home, etc.
    I thought I could privitize my whole entire system if I just change the file sharing into "Read Only (Drop Box)" status.
    So I right-click on the icon, then clicked "Get Info," then clicked the lock button then it asked me for my password to be able to make changes.
    My fault was I made the "Home" and "Admin" to "Read Only (Drop Box) status and "Other Users" to "No Access" file sharing.
    Now in result I cannot click on anything. All the applications are lock. Even the System Preferences.
    Another problem I came across is that I tried to turn my MacBook on...and it would just stay on the white screen with the apple logo and it would just load for ever.
    So overall, my whole entire mac system is locked, can't open anything and I cannot turn on my Mac.
    I tried calling the Apple call support services. But my warranty has expired. I could pay for it, but I really do want to save.
    I hope someone can tell me a good solution. Next time I'll make sure not to do experiments anymore and stick to what I know.

    You need to do it as soon as you turn the computer back on. If you have a firmware password set on the computer, you'll need to know it and have a Mac OS X install DVD; if you don't have either and a firmware password is set, contact Apple.

  • Unable to 'Undo' in files

    I read some of the other articles about people having a similiar problem in CS4.
    I am unable to undo...which happened all of a sudden.
    I CAN use copy and paste just fine.
    I have no idea how to fix this and I have no idea what the cause of this was.
    These functions are essential to my development, and I have so far spent most of my morning trying to figure out what the problem is.
    The other posts Do Not give a clear solution to resolve this problem.
    If someone could please advise on how to fix this issue, I would greatly appreciate it.
    Sincerely,

  • Undo PHP File Association?

    For some reason, now that I've installed Dreamweaver, I'm
    completely unable to open PHP files saved on my computer. I've
    installed Apache/MySQL/PHP and had the set working well together.
    After installing and using Dreamweaver, though, it automatically
    loads any locally-hosted PHP files into the Dreamweaver editor
    rather than letting me preview them in a browser.
    I've tried going to the 'Open With...' menu and selecting the
    Always Open with each browser I have, but without any success. It
    doesn't seem to matter what folder the files are in, whether the
    Apache htdocs folder, the root folder I've established in
    Dreamweaver, or anything else.
    Short of completely stripping Dreamweaver off of my system,
    is there any other way to reclaim the ability to preview local PHP
    files in my own browser instead of editing them in
    Dreamweaver?

    You wouldn't be able to "open" a PHP file in your browser
    anyhow by double
    clicking (which I suppose is what you are doing). You'd have
    to serve it
    with
    http://localhost/filename.php
    (assuming you are doing Apache on port
    80). Otherwise, none of the PHP will be parsed/executed.

  • Automatic Undo Management, UNDO tablspace, and undo_segment count

    When I created my UNDO tablespace I was given 10 undo_segments:
    SQL> SELECT usn "Rollback Table", GETS, WAITS, xacts "Active Transactions"
    2 FROM V$ROLLSTAT;
    Rollback Table GETS WAITS Active Transactions
    0 1242 0 0
    1 88678 8 0
    2 83884 2 0
    3 82519 9 0
    4 85661 17 0
    5 80613 14 0
    6 82183 0 0
    7 92551 9 0
    8 78371 14 0
    9 89043 1 0
    10 75477 5 0
    The above statistic indicates I need more undo_segments. Do I need to recreate my UNDO tablespace in order to get the number of segments necessary to prevent waits or will more undo_segments be spawned eventually??
    I think I'm suffering Contention? Is there medicine?

    Compared to the number of GETS, the number of WAITS is very small. I doubt that you could ever have enough rollback segments to ensure that there were never any waits. Oracle's read consistency mechanism virtually guarantees that you will at least occasionally get waits.
    Aside from that, the point of UNDO tablespaces is that Oracle will manage the number and size of rollback segments based on the load. If you are really concerned about this, and if you have statistics indicating that waits for rollback segments are a performance bottleneck (something like a statspack report showing large amounts of time for one of the undo waits), then you can simply add more space to your undo tablespace, and Oracle will likely use it to add additional segmetns if it feels the need.

  • Database restore without temp, undo and control files.

    Hi All,
    You might found this question silly but I don't know so asking this question here.
    I have cold back up of the database. Now, I want create clone of that database, but I have some different paths for the DBFs so I will create new control file after restoring the database.
    Now, I know that I don't need control files and tempfiles to be restored. I have 10 undo files in backup but on the new clone database I don't need all 10. I want only 5. So can I do the restoration without undo , temp and control file and later on add undo and temp?? and if yes then tell me that can I add them at mount level??
    This is my first restore, Please guide me its very urgent

    Therefore, we do a RECOVER with a CANCEL to simulate an Incomplete Recovery.Completely agree with you Hemant. And the links you've provided,i've gone through many times. Excellent description.
    I just wanted to know in above(OP's) scenario if he has complete cold backup(includes online redo logs), does he really need open reset logs or any recovery?
    Regards!no , if you have cold backup with online redo log files then i don't think so you need to open database in resetlogs.Resetlog is always after incomplete recovery or recovery using backup controlfile or you dont have redo logs.
    I am completely agree with you that with given scenario for the cold backup undo tablespace would not be part of recovery and you can
    -offline drop undo tablespace file
    -create another one undo tablespace and its undo datafile
    -point spfile to that newly undo tablespace
    I think Aman is saying in the context of restore and recover online database where undo tablespace create a vital role in database recovery, the undo blocks roll back the effects of uncommitted transactions previously applied by the rolling forward phase.

  • Curropt Undo tablespace

    Hi,
    Was doing an exercise of bringing the database up if one of the datafile is curropt and the data on that data file is not required.
    I did this:-
    1. While the database is running I edited the datafile , dropped some junk in it.
    2. Shutdown.
    3. Startup mount
    4. alter database datafile 'xxx' offline drop;
    5. alter database open;
    6. drop tablespace yyy.
    7. create tablespace.
    Worked ok.
    But when I tried this for undo (just out of curiosity).
    alter database datafile...
    alter database open;
    create undo tablspace new_undo;
    alter system set undo_tablespae = new_undo;
    drop old undo_tbs <<<< failed.
    says active rollback segment exists.
    Actually I tried this exercise twice first time I was able to drop the old undo tablespace but the second time it didn't.
    Can somebody show how to open the database in this scenario i.e if the datafile asscoiated with undo tablespace is curropt.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    The size of the undo tablespace is related to the transaction activity and size and the setting of the undo_retention parameter.
    You can use the undo advisor in OEM for setting an optimal value or size (see link).
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/10gr2_db_vmware/manage/undo/undoadv.htm#t4
    Can you post the current size of thedatabase, the undo tablespace and the value of undo_retention?

  • Dropping UNDO did not free space at OS level

    Hi,
    As my UNDO tablespace grew very large, i had to drop it by creating a second UNDO tablespace and switching the database to use it. After i successfully dropped the first UNDO, the file systems, which hosted the datafiles of the first UNDO still shows that they are 100% full. I have checked the alert log and everthing looks perfectly fine with the following message
    drop tablespace undotbs1 including contents and datafiles
    delted file '/u04/oradata/sunshine/undotbs1.dbf'
    deleted file '/u06/oradata/sunshine/undotbs1_1.dbf'
    Completed: drop tablespace undotbs1 including contents and datafiles
    Even the two datafiles 'undotbs1.dbf' and 'undotbs1_1.dbf' were deleted with the "drop tablespace ........" command itself.
    Is it required to bounce the database for the changes to be reflected at the OS level?
    Any insight?
    THanks,
    Harris.

    Hi,
    My Oracle version is 9.2.0.5 and i am running on Solaris 9. I have created a new UNDO tablespace UNDOTBS2 and dropped the old UNDO tablespace UNDOTBS1. After i issued the "drop tablespace UNDOTBS1 including contents and datafiles" it deleted the physical datafiles at the OS level too. I do not see any datafiles of the first dropped undo tablespace UNDOTBS1 in the directories specified i.e.,
    '/u04/oradata/sunshine/undotbs1.dbf'
    '/u06/oradata/sunshine/undotbs1_1.dbf'
    So, the tablespace along with datafiles has been dropped (at the OS level too) with the "drop tablespace........" command itself. But, the file system still does not show the freed up space. I have altered the system to use the second undo tablespace UNDOTBS2 before dropping the first.
    The second undo UNDOTBS2 has auto extend off, so there is no issue of this increasing to this much of size. The first undo tablespace that i dropped was around 15G of size and it has autoextend ON.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Harris.
