UNHAPPY :(

I don't know if this is the right place to post this message...but hopefully someone can help. I've recently had several repairs done on my powerbook, and I am unhappy with the service I received. At the top of my complaints is a certain worker, at a certain store. I would like to contact Apple and express my concern and disappointment regarding an extremely rude worker at one of the stores. Is there an email or mailing address, or something that I can contact someone of authority?
Apple is supposed to have wonderful customer service, and up to this point I have received that. I am an unhappy customer that would like to do something. Please, any suggestions would be appreciated!

Hi, allie -
Welcome to Apple's Discussions.
In addition to Tom's suggestion, you can also ask to speak to the manager of that store and express your complaint to that person - he or she has a vested interest in how well the store runs, hence should welcome feedback (expressed clearly, succinctly, and calmly) about the behavior of any store employee.
If the individual in question happens to be the store manager, ask for the name of that person's supervisor and a means to contact them - phone number, address, or email. Then pass your complaint to that person.
It is helpful to management, especially in sales, if you are able to give the problem employee's name in addition to the date, time, and circumstances of the incident.

  • Constantly going into "unhappy" & ! folder error

    Hi everyone
I'm having some problems with my iPod 30Gb Photo
it seems to periodically go into either the "unhappy" (normally this one) or "! folder" error, when it does this it doesn't recognize that i've got it plugged into my computer and shows the "can't mount iPod" message, and so I can't restore the HD. However when it doesn't have the "unhappy" or "! folder" error it is recognized as per usual.. I've tried everything I can but as far as I can tell sometimes it just magically returns to normal and until it does I cant use it

Please believe me, I did manage to solve these "can't mount" and "folder error", however you need to fix it with a Mac computer if your iPod formatted by a PC, or vince verse. First you must plug your iPod with a AC charger, put it in Disk Mode, plug your PC's formatted iPod with a Mac computer, your iPod will show up in the Desktop, open the Disk Utility and do a ERASE (fomat) in MS Dos format. Once completed, plug it with your PC and you will see the window pop up and ask you to do the Restore for your PC to read it. Then open the iPod updater and click Restore.

Add me to the list of Unhappy Razr M users after the KitKat 'upgrade'
I did a quick Google search and found that many people were having issues after upgrading to KitKat.
If I disable my Bluetooth connection to my portable speaker I can connect to my router and the Internet.
If I have Bluetooth on and connected to anything Bluetooth my WiFi shows that it's connected but it will not actually connect to the Internet.
I have restarted the phone, restarted the router, unpaired everything and re-paired everything, re-discovered the WiFi and re-added my home Internet connection on the phone and router. The Internet connection problem is only there when I have the phone connected to something Bluetooth.
Surely this can't be considered acceptable since I had a perfectly functioning phone on Thursday morning at 8am and by 9am I now have a phone that won't connect to WiFi and Bluetooth at the same time.
Please fix this Verizon, this issue is not at my end!

A knowledgeable gent recently reported it as "soon".

<br />What I suggest is folks in your situation- and others- is to import a small number of images, be it a few hundred per folder or so, or less, and see how LR works. Give it time to create previews, and then work with it.

  • I am soo unhappy! Everyday I'm discovering what I cannot do on my iPhone 5s! Since September 20, I purchased the new 5s

I am soo unhappy! Everyday I am discovering what I cannot do on my iPhone 5s! Since September 20, I purchased the new 5s and iPad mini with Wi-fi and I have had nothing but trouble. I cannot use my iPad, it is worthless! My old iPad 3 worked better which I traded it in for. I cannot get Wi-fi to work properly on either device. I have to be standing next to my router for it to work. My router works fine and worked fine with my old iPad 3. The list is endless...... I am on my 3rd replacement for iPhone and still experiencing problems.
-Facetime just starts without me promting it
-I have almost every call I make drop
-Siri does not register with my voice, very frustrating!
-I have a new car and the 5s will not let me use my console phonebook favorites shortcuts
-I cannot attach a photo from a relpy or an email for that matter. WTH??? Why??
-I cannot scroll to the bottom of a page without playing "spin the wheel" and have the pop up screen come up and then accidentally hit private mode then  miss  phone calls.  But I can scroll to the top with a couple of tries. I have small fingers so why is this so user unfriendly?
-My cellular connection notice keeps coming on? Why? Both on iPhone iPad
-My Wi-fi does not work I have to be standing next to my router for it to work for both my iPhone 5s and iPad mini. My router works fine and worked fine with  my  old iPad 3.
-My icloud is not saving my new phone numbers so each time I have received a new phone numbers get LOST!
    - I now cannot look anything up while on the phone AND NO ONE TOLD ME THIS BEFORE I PURCHASED THIS PHONE! I really have needed it through all  the time I have been on the phone with either Apple or Sprint! A total of of at least 40hours and I am not exaggerating!
-I have to switch to too many pages to write emails, texts or even phone calls! Not as easy as 1,2,3. WHY?
-Merging on iCloud can erase numbers be careful! What a nice option I thought. As my Android/Gmail basically threw up on my new iPhone. So I had  multiple  contacts of the same person. E.G. 5 Joe Smoo. All listed separately, one was an email,2nd was FB, 3rd Home phone, 4th cell and 5th fax or listed  as other.  Well, if someone has 2 cell phones or emails and you merge then iCloud takes the privilege of ERASING one of the 3s or contacts. Also, some of  them were  listed as other and that too got ERASED. Thank you iCloud! I only discovered this after merging at least 20 contacts because I was told I had to  to manually  go into my phonebook to try and fix the quadruplet or more names on my phonebook.
-There is more believe me! BTW I have been pretty dedicated to Apple (macbook, iMac and iPad),  only I had an Android phone because my carrier didn't  have  iPhone & I did not want  AT&T. This is turning me into sour grapes or should I say apples!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please respond if you have similar problems or any because no one else seems to be experiencing such problems as I have. If you are an Apple employee then please have someone contact me.

    Dude or hot-spur,
Not fishy at all!!!! You really think I would have taken any more of my time to post a bogus rant? We'll no, it is unfortunately all true. I want to hear from anyone who is experiencing such problems not anyone else that wants to put there two cents in. I really don't need anymore hate or negativity. Just people's experiences because I feel like I am the only one having so many problems. Thank you
Yes, I have had some unfortunate bad luck to have so many problems at the same time, but some of them are just things you cannot do on the new OS.
    Thank you again

    3. When downloading, something jumps to the upper right of the screen. I could point and click it and get a diplay if my downloads. I was attempting to fix some of the above. Now the little thing jumps off the screen and I can't get to it.

  • Unhappy With Veterans United Lighthouse Program- Anyone know about breaking the agreement?

We started on the Veterans United Lighthouse program at the end of May, at that time, we had two of our three credit scores over the 600 mark and were told we only needed to gain 19 points on our credit score to be preapproved for a loan.  When contacting them, we had planned on paying off some delinquent medical debt to help our score but they said not to touch it that all we needed to do is open one credit card account and that would probably do it for us... the lady suggested Wells Fargo for the card... and we were rejected and lost points on our credit score.  We did find a card that approved us but then also saw another drop on our score. Anytime we call to try and get direction or answers to questions, she gives us conflicting advice... and now that our credit score fell she says "maybe you should pay down that medical debt"... this is what they told us not to touch when we began.  It's very frustrating. We were supposed to at least be under contract and moving forward by now because we need to move to a different city for my husband's job in August but now she says it will take several more months... we are VERY unhappy with the service (or lack of service) we've gotten there and think it would just be better to handle our credit on our own because all she's done is give advice that caused it to fall. SO, here's my question... when we started the Lighthouse program, we signed an agreement that said something like "if you use the lighthouse program you agree to use us for your VA loan"- so now that we are very unhappy with the program, are we still bound to use them for a VA loan?  I have read so many negative comments about Veterans United since I started myFICO message boards yesterday and this is very concerning for me.  This form I signed was a digital, online form so I don't have a copy (I know, that was dumb of me to sign it- we were recommended to the program by a friend of ours who had a good experience so our guard was down a bit). ANY ADVICE?Current credit scores are now: 586, 602 & 583... rental houses are very expensive where we're moving to and we really NEED to buy but now it seems unatainable.

Welcome to the forums! If you want to make gains in your score, my first and always recommendation is to do the following: 1) Post all your negatives and ask for help resolving them in the Rebuilding Your Credit forum, there may be some simple quick wins for getting them deleted.2) Post the whole darned enchilada in Understanding FICO Scoring: card limits and balances, loans, negatives, etc; this is for putting lipstick on the pig to optimize an instant in time pull. We're not FICO employees but this forum and one or two other places online are the next best thing when it comes to FICO optimization.  LO's unfortunately often don't know what they're talking about when it comes to FICO scoring, though your LO was right the first time, don't touch those medical collections by simply paying them, if you can't get them deleted they will not help your credit score and might even bring it down further.  The card advice, ugh, there's very few circumstances where that would have helped immediately and there's always a tradeoff involved with opening a new account when we're weighing potential advice on that front. I don't know anything about that particular program but hopefully someone will be able to give you better information on that. Thank you for the advice- I'll give it a try!

  • Subscribed Calendar time off by 1 hr (CDT) - Many folks UNHAPPY!

Our church uses mychurchevents.com as our on-line calendar.  You can subscribed to this calendar and have it show with your other calendars.  Our problem (for all our staff) is the hour is showing CDT as the time zone which we are in Central Time Zone but it is showing 1 hour too late.  This happened around the Daylight Savings Time beginning.  Thought it would correct itself but no it hasn't and we now have wrong times on our events through the subscription.  The times show correctly on iPhones/iPads but incorrectly on Mac OS 10.9.2.   My pastor is unhappy and I can't figure out how to fix it for all of us.  I have checked all the time zones everywhere and they are set correctly.  The times are correct on the mychurchevent calendar.    Here's the link to our calendar if you need it to try anything.   It has to be something in the subscription but I don't know how to find that or correct it since the times are correct in the original calendar and on the phones.
    http://www.mychurchevents.com/calendar/calendar.aspx?ci=L6L6H2K5M7J4N8N8H2http:/ /

When synching to my iPhone 5 from Outlook, the calendar creates appointments that all have a notation of the time in CDT, and i live in EDT.  This happened with the change to daylight savings time, and both before and after the most recent 8.? ios update.  It also happened last Fall when we switched from daylight to standard time. I called in apple support, paid $29 to try to figure it out. After talking to 3 different people, someone finally told me it was a problem with the software update and Apple needs to fix it.  But first, the techs had me loading and unloading my contact with my exchange server several times, which is a real pain. Over the total process the time zone then switched to GMT and i had to go in and reset my calendar default time, but in the meantime all of my appointments on my iPhone are at an incorrect time.  It's a total MESS!  I thought that Apple was better than that.... I switched from another smartphone to an iPhone to avoid such hassles.... Go figure.  .... More mess-up. Seems you just can't get away from it, and it really tarnishes my opinion of Apple .... and also my willingness to accept updates!!!! I'm very disappointed.

  • Unhappy about this iPod Touch Issue...

    So here's the story.
My girlfriend bought me for Christmas last year 2010 an iPod Touch (refurbished). 2 months go by of being happy and all, then suddenly the audio jack goes bad. If you BEND the bottom piece of the wire where it connects into the ipod touch the sound gets static / distorted. A VERY big problem when trying to listen to music while walking with it in your pocket. I contacted apple support and set up a repair, sent it in. I got the ipod back still BROKEN. They didn't even bother to fix or check the headphones. I was told they do a standard check but if left notes they do not follow them. I was very unhappy, and mind you i've sold a few friends/family members on Apple products so i wasn't expecting them to be so disloyal...
I contacted Apple again right after I got the ipod back and found out the problem still existed. Mind you i bought BRAND NEW headphones and a BRAND NEW wire for my car, thinking it might be either/or and that wasn't the case. Not only did i waste 15$ on a car cable and 10$ on cheap headphones but they're telling me to set up more repairs for them to just send it back unrepaired again?
The guy i was put on the line with was kind and all and he actually seemed like he CARED. He said he could leave the people notes but they most likely will not bother to read them, he also told me that I can go to the closest Apple store (30-45 minutes away and I have no idea where they are or how to get there since I've never been to those cities.) I told him that wasn't really an option because I would have to drive 45 minutes there, ask them to order me a new iPod, wait 3 - 5 days for them to get the ipod in, drive ANOTHER 45 minutes there and back and it wasn't guaranteed they would trade it. I told him i couldn't do that and he told me he'd set up a repair and i try my luck that they read the notes. I hesitated so i don't waste my time again, 2-3 weeks pass and I just called again.
The new guy sounded as if he really didn't care about my issue. I told him my story. I asked is there ANY WAY I can just get them to send me a new ipod touch and i send my old one back. He abruptly put me on hold in the middle of talking and 5 minutes later comes back and tells me he isn't able to. For ipads ONLY he can do it but not for ipods. Why Not??? They're practically the same thing.
He set up a new repair and is telling me to send it in for repair but there is no point. They won't fix it.
I can't go to an Apple store, I can't send it in. It seems as if Apple is starting to get like their competitors (which is why i switched from pc to mac.)
    What i am asking is,
What can i do? Why can't they just exchange them through the mail? If my phone company has done it why can't Apple? Do they not trust their customers loyalty? Don't you think if i was to steal it and not send my old one back (EVEN though they know it's broken as I've called 3 times asking for a repair to fix it) they would charge my credit card the amount? It's not hard to really just do a simple exchange...
Just a very unhappy customer right now. Never had a problem with Apple until now.
    Thanks.

I think you're making some presumptions about the Apple Store. You haven't gone to talk to them. I'm betting you haven't spoke to them on the phone.
Anything around here is an hour away, so I get the 45 minute drive ordeal -- as well as I work 40+ hrs a week, go to grad school, have 3 kids to schedule and coordinate with activities/sports. If it's that important to you to get it fixed, contact the Apple Store. Go in.
If they are going to order you a replacement, ASK THAT THEY HAVE IT SHIPPED TO YOU. There, you just saved a trip back 45 minutes one way to pick it back up.
I believe several were helpful when they told you to go to the Apple Store. You just make an excuse for everything said.

  • Notorious unhappy icon

ive tried everything suggested to resolve the unhappy icon on my clickwheel ipod and cannot seem to resolve the issue. it is no longer recognized by my computer when plugged in and will not play any songs or turn on at this point, wont charge nothing. i tried to put it in disk mode but unable to do that aswell. i am thinking the only thing left to do is to resote the ipod. what would be the best way to save the music currently on the ipod? thanks alot

    Hello,
If a sad iPod icon or an exclamation point and folder icon appears on your iPod’s screen, or with sounds of clicking or HD whirring, it is usually the sign of a hard drive problem and you have the power to do something about it now. Your silver bullet of resolving your iPod issue – is to restore your iPod to factory settings.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=60983
If you're having trouble, try these steps at different levels one at a time until the issue is resolved. These steps will often whip your iPod back into shape.
Make sure you do all the following “TRYs”
    A. Try to wait 30 minutes while iPod is charging.
    B. Try another FireWire or USB through Dock Connector cable.
    C. Try another FireWire or USB port on your computer .
    D. Try to disconnect all devices from your computer's FireWire and USB ports.
    E. Try to download and install the latest version of iPod software and iTunes
    http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
    F. Try these five steps (known as the five Rs) and it would conquer most iPod issues.
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/
    G. Try to put the iPod into Disk Mode if it fails to appear on the desktop
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93651
If none of these steps address the issue, you may need to go to Intermediate level listed below in logical order. Check from the top of the lists to see if that is what keeping iPod from appearing on your computer in order for doing the Restore.
    Intermediate Level
    A. Try to connect your iPod with another computer with the iPod updater pre-installed.
    B. Still can’t see your iPod, put it in Disk Mode and connect with a computer, instead of doing a Restore on iPod Updater. Go and format the iPod instead.
    For Mac computer
    1. Open the disk utility, hope your iPod appears there (left hand side), highlight it
    2. Go to Tab “Partition”, click either “Delete” or “Partition”, if fails, skip this step and go to 3
    3. Go to Tab “Erase” , choose Volume Format as “MAC OS Extended (Journaled), and click Erase, again if fails, skip it and go to 4
    4. Same as step 3, but open the “Security Options....” and choose “Zero Out Data” before click Erase. It will take 1 to 2 hours to complete.
    5. Eject your iPod and do a Reset
    6. Open the iPod Updater and click “Restore”
    For Window computer
    Go to folder “My Computer”
Hope you can see your iPod there and right click on the iPod
Choose “Format”. Ensure the settings are at “Default” and that “Quick Format” is not checked
    Now select “Format”
Eject your iPod and do a Reset
Open the iPod Updater and click “Restore”
In case you do not manage to do a “Format” on a window computer, try to use some 3rd party disk utility software, e.g.“Partition Magic”.
    C. Windows users having trouble with their iPods should locate a Mac user. In many cases when an iPod won't show up on a PC that it will show up on the Mac. Then it can be restored. When the PC user returns to his computer the iPod will be recognized by the PC, reformatted for the PC, and usable again. By the way, it works in reverse too. A Mac user often can get his iPod back by connecting it to a PC and restoring it.
    Tips
    a. It does not matter whether the format is completed or not, the key is to erase (or partly) the corrupted firmware files on the Hard Drive of the iPod. After that, when the iPod re-connected with a computer, it will be recognized as an fresh external hard drive, it will show up on the iPod updater.
    b. It is not a difficult issue for a Mac user to find a window base computer, for a PC user, if they can’t find any Mac user, they can go to a nearest Apple Shop for a favor.
    c. You may need to switch around the PC and Mac, try to do several attempts between “Format” and “Restore”
    Advance Level
    A. Diagnostic mode solution
If you have tried trouble shooting your iPod to no avail after all the steps above, chances are your iPod has a hardware problem. The iPod's built-in Diagnostic Mode is a quick and easy way to determine if you have a "bad" iPod.
You need to restart your iPod before putting it into Diagnostic Mode. Check that your hold switch is off by sliding the switch away from the headphone jack. Toggle it on and off to be safe.
Press and hold the following combination of buttons simultaneously for approximately 10 seconds to reset the iPod.
    iPod 1G to 3G: "Menu" and "Play/Pause"
iPod 4G+ (includes Photo, Nano, Video, and Mini): "Menu" and "Select"
The Apple logo will appear and you should feel the hard drive spinning up. Press and hold the following sequence of buttons:
iPod 1G to 3G: "REW", "FFW" and "Select"
iPod 4G+ (includes Photo, Nano, Video, and Mini): "Back" and "Select"
You will hear an audible chirp sound (3G models and higher) and the Apple logo should appear backwards. You are now in Diagnostic Mode. Navigate the list of tests using "REW" and "FFW". The scroll wheel will not function while in diagnostic mode. For further details on Diagnostic mode can be found at http://www.methodshop.com/mp3/ipodsupport/diagnosticmode/
Try to do the 5in1, HDD R/W and HDD scan tests. Some successful cases have been reported after the running the few tests under the Diagnostic mode. In case it does not work in your case, and the scan tests reports show some errors then it proves your iPod has a hardware problem and it needs a repairing service.
    B. Format your iPod with a start disk
I have not tried this solution myself, I heard that there were few successful cases that the users managed to get their iPod (you must put your iPod in disk mode before connecting with a computer) mounted by the computer, which was booted by a system startup disk. For Mac, you can use the Disk Utility (on the Tiger OS system disk), for PC user, you can use the window OS system disk. Try to find a way to reformat your iPod, again it does not matter which format (FAT32, NTFS or HFS+) you choose, the key is to erase the corrupted system files on the iPod. Then eject your iPod and do a Reset to switch out from Disk Mode. Reboot your computer at the normal way, connect your iPod back with it, open the iPod updater, and hopefully your iPod will appear there for the Restore.
If none of these steps address the issue, your iPod may need to be repaired.
Consider setting up a mail-in repair for your iPod http://depot.info.apple.com/ipod/
Or visit your local Apple Retail Store http://www.apple.com/retail/
In case your iPod is no longer covered by the warranty and you want to find a second repairing company, you can try iPodResQ at your own risk
    http://www.ipodresq.com/index.php
Just in case that you are at the following situation
    Your iPod warranty is expired
You don’t want to pay any service charges
You are prepared to buy a new one
You can’t accept the re-sell value of your broken iPod
Rather than leave your iPod as paper-weight or throw it away.
You can try the following, but again, only do it as your last resort and at your own risk.
Warning ! – It may or may not manage to solve your problem, and with a risk that you may further damage your iPod, which end up as an expensive paper weight or you need to pay more higher repairing cost. Therefore, please re-consider again whether you want to try the next level
    Last Resort Level
    1. . Disconnecting the Hard Drive and battery inside the iPod – Warning !! Your iPod warranty will be waived once you open the iPod.
In Hong Kong there are some electronic shops offering an iPod service for Sad iPod, the first thing they do is to open up the iPod’s case and disconnecting the battery and the Hard Drive from the main board of the iPod. Wait for 5-10 minutes and reconnecting them back. The reason behind which I can think of is to do a fully reset of a processor of the iPod. In case you want do it itself and you believe that you are good on fixing the electronics devices and have experience to deal with small bits of electronic parts, then you can read the following of how to open the iPod case for battery replacement (with pictures)
    http://www.kokopellimusic.us/KM_instructions.htm
Have I tried this myself? No, I am afraid to do it myself as I am squeamish about tinkering inside electronic devices, I have few experiences that either I broke the parts (which are normally tiny or fragile) or failed to put the parts back to the main case. Therefore, I agree with suggestion to have it fixed by a Pro.

  • IPad Air says iPad is disabled connect to iTunes and STILL not able to use it. VERY UNHAPPY

After uploading IOS8 on 9-17-14 my iPad Air says "iPad is disabled, connect to iTunes.". I have followed all the suggestions from Apple and tried to erase my iPad, but I am VERY UNHAPPY as none of these have resolved the problem. Apple, please provide the support when you have new downloads...

Apple are not involved in tracking/locating stolen or lost devices. Have you reported it to the police ?
Did you have Find My iPad enabled in Settings > iCloud ? If you did and you had iOS 7 installed on it then it should be harder to remove from your account, and the police could try locating it via http://www.icloud.com

  • Generally really unhappy with this thing. (This is a rant.)

OK, does anyone else think this thing is worth the money? A Verizon plan with unlimited data costs me and my wife almost $200 monthly and here's a brief list of issues:
First of all, Desktop Manger hates Mac computers. Media Sync doesn't work at all. It opens iPhoto for no reason, and can't see any of my iTunes content. But just read the RIM propaganda about how it seamlessly works with all your content.
The browser experience is nearly useless, even after trying everone's tips to optimize it, and you can't specify any other browser as the default. I have apps like Kayak for browsing flight and hotel info, but good luck trying to book something from your phone. I can't even get movie tickets reliably because the browser interface is painfully slow and hangs up constantly. It's like dial-up on a postage stamp screen.
Tiny screen, and the $%#@ trackball is maddening! I'm sure the trackpad is better, but I guess we got the version just before it was released.
Just tried to remove a couple of useless apps via Desktop Manager and the process literally took over 50 minutes to remove them, during which time the phone can't be used. Then another 10 minutes to restart, then it starts to sync all over again and my wallpaper, custom ringtones and more are JUST PLAIN GONE!
I could go on all day, but here's the thing that I can't believe:
I got all excited about the Torch. Great independent reviews, full touch-screen experience plus a physical keyboard, etc.
The catch? AT&T ONLY! Simply can't have one if you have Verizon. I've been holding out on chucking this brick for an iPhone because of the AT&T monopoly, but I'm just about ready to bite the bullet because this device is nearly useless for anything but phone calls & email.
Anybody else ready to microwave this burrito?
    Thanks for listening...
    T

I don't know what you're doing to need unlimited data. I use the internet on mine all the time and have not even come close to my 500MB data.
As for the browser, go to the Opera website and download Opera Mini. The zooming is a bit strange, but no huge hurtle. It helped me access some sites that I couldn't with the BlackBerry browser. You can have the BB browser identify as Firefox or IE. It's in Browser Configuration in the Options category.
Try to uninstall and reinstall Desktop Manager. If you're using version 6.0, try 5.0 and vice versa.
I have had very, very few problems with my trackball. I've had my phone for a year. If it's sticky or not rolling correctly, run it over some newspaper. The screen is larger than some other BBs.
You can remove apps right from the phone. It shouldn't take that long. Go to the options and applications and delete it.
Always back up your phone before you change anything. If something is gone, then you can just back up your phone and try again. I don't know what all is syncing that shouldn't be. You should not have to reload things after deleting an app. You could back up your phone, then wipe it and start over, as other more tech savvy people have mentioned.
If you're really that unhappy and want to get an iPhone, though I have no idea why you'd want one, then just do it. No sense in being miserable. Perhaps you just have a defective phone.

  • Advice on Retina Display buy after unhappiness with 13" MBP

i am hoping to buy a new retina display macbook pro soon and would like to only get a 13" sized model but i was extremely unhappy with the performance of my 2009 13" which will be out of applecare warranty in about two months.
is there any way to get a handle on "how high" i have to go with my purchase and what to focus upon? i mean, i understand that i want to get as many cores as possible and that i want to get as fast a processor as possible and that the independent graphics card is on the 15" and not on the 13" but i really don't work a lot on my laptop all that much or all that intensively. OTOH, the current lappy is not so happy for some reason.
i have adobe creative suites 5.5 on my 2006 mac pro and i have parallels 8 and some CAD software that i need to use in windows on the mac pro but i really, really don't do a lot of work with my laptop and have still been quite unhappy despite putting a full 8 GB in this machine about a year or a year and a half into buying it.
is there a way to make an intelligent decision on where to spend my money on a new machine without being totally paranoid and thinking i have to buy the top of the line 15" with respect to all of the above options (and spending 3K on a machine i don't use very intensively)? i mean, i may go to a conference once every two years and want to work in CAD in parallels but other than that i am almost strictly on the Mac Pro for anything moderately intense.
fwiw, i would like to go with the retina display as it is the most current technology.
    TIA

Hardware does fail occasionally, but part of why I would take mine to an Apple Store would be for an opinion on whether the problem was hareware or software. Since it has been less than a year since your bought your MBP-R, it is still under warranty, just not eligible for free phone assistance. If you have neither an Apple Store nor a trusted repair facility available to you, that will make it tougher.
Do I understand you to say this only happens after it has been asleep for a longish time? You can keep it from happening by waking it up sooner or by shutting down when you expect to be away for a longer time? I'm not sure what that tells us, but it in interesting.
Do you by any chance have a bootable copy of your system on an external disk? Preferrably one that was made before you started experiencing the symptoms. If so, does the MBP-R present the same symptoms when booted from that copy?

  • UnHappy With Built in iSight

I have a macbook and im kind of unhappy with the built in iSight. I think it is awsome idea for location but the quality is not that great. Ive seen many pictures on apples website showing confrences but unfortunatly my iChat conferences are always blurry no matter the connection. Am i doing something wrong with my iSight or is there anyway to enhance the picture quality?? Thanks in advance for the help

The perceived poor video quality probably has nothing to do with the built-in camera itself. More likely it has to do with Internet connection speeds or some other issue.
I suggest you try connecting to me at [email protected] or to one of the other testers for additional feedback.

  • Ipod Doesn't Appear on I-tunes, Unhappy Face,Songs All Gone!

Help please!! Okay, first I plugged my Ipod mini into the computer and my Itunes would freeze and after a few minutes a thing would come up "Cannot read the contents of Kristy's Ipod." My Ipod would not appear on Itunes & my computer would not recognize it. I tried this a few times and one day I decided to see if my songs were messed up and color me surprise-all my 650 songs are gone!!! and I did not restore it or reset it. Sometimes when I try to do the disk mode thing, I get to the Apple icon, and then I hit the Play button like it says and sometimes I will get the unhappy Ipod icon-either that or it will say Ipod Mini at the top instead of Disk Mode. I have had everything updated, there is nothing wrong with the computer because I have used the Ipod before w/o problems. I have followed and followed the steps Apple offers on their site. NOTHING WORKS!!! I have reseted the Ipod, reseted the Itunes. Then at one point, I did the Disk Mode successfully...and my Itunes were uploading my songs onto my Ipod and once it was done, a little exclamation point pops up from the bottom right-hand corner, saying there was an error and everything was deleted so once again, all my songs were deleted. Somebody please take the time to read this complaint and help!!!! this mini Ipod is the 2nd generation one, I shall add, and it is only 4 months old. What is wrong with it?? Please, if anybody has any steps on how to fix it BESIDES the one they offer on the site since those were no help!! Thank you to whoever reads this!!!

I have the same problem and this seems to be very common in the last couple days. Could this be a virus of some kind or just a common software problem? We need some help.

  • VERY UNHAPPY with multiple issues concerning my account.

I have been a Verizon customer for about 3 years now, and I was out of contract after my first two years, and when my iPhone started having issues last month, I took the plunge and purchased another phone, a Galaxy s5, last month, and went back in contract. I am unhappy with MANY things right now:
~When I took in my iPhone, no one in the store could help me as far as knowing anything about the issues my out of contract phone was having. They just wanted to sell me a new phone.
~When I decided to purchase a new phone, I told the salesgal that I didn't want the payment plan/Edge, that I wanted to pay for the phone straight out, I didn't want to pay for insurance, and I did not need a car charger. She said okay. I also purchased a screen saver while I was there, and a phone case, so I had multiple items purchased. My s5 was supposed to be eligible for a $50 rebate, so she started putting stuff in the big Verizon bag, and told me she was printing out my rebate form. I get home (I do not live in the city where I purchased the phone) and guess what? She didn't put in my $50 rebate form that she printed out, and there is a car charger in the bag that she charged me for, which I told her I did not need.
~The next day, an area managerial type of rep from Verizon calls to ask me how my experience was, and I told her. She informs me that I cannot take back the car charger at the Verizon store in my hometown, that I would have to take it back to the store where I purchased it, even though I do not live in that city, and I work two jobs (can't get there). I told her the sales gal did not put my rebate form in the bag that she printed out, and she said that SHE would send me one in the mail, and took my information.
~Guess what? SHE didn't send me the form, either.
~This coincides close to the time where I get my new Verizon bill in the mail...guess what? They added insurance to my account, even though I told them at the store that I didn't want it. I spent 20 minutes on the phone with Verizon getting credited and the insurance taken off.
~I finally get on Verizon chat this week, and the chat rep tries to help me with the rebate form, since two other people obviously can't get it to me. He gets me the information, I enter it in...and now the $50 rebate promotion is saying that it is no longer valid.
~I also find out at work this week, that my company has employee discounts through Verizon. I have worked for this company for a year and a half. This is a 17% discount on my bill, and also on phone purchases, etc. I get on Verizon chat again, and try to see if there is any way my discount could be backdated, since I was never aware of eligibility. I told them I could provide any form of proof of employment they may need. Not only could I have saved 17% for the past 18 months, but I could have just gotten my new phone for $50 cheaper. I was told by the Verizon rep that they couldn't help me, and they could give me a "$5 credit". No offer of compromise, backdating a month or two-nothing.
If you are adding all of this up, here is what I am currently out:
~$50 rebate because two people promised to give me something and didn't, and it ran out.
~$27 for a phone charger I said I didn't want, but was thrown in on the sly with my phone box/phone case/accessories last month with my phone purchase
    ~Insurance I said I didn't want (I did get this rectified)
~Approximately $324 in company discounts over the past year, and $50 company discount on my phone that I just purchased last month.
This is at least $451 of charges that I have paid for, but shouldn't have...and I get no apologies...just the run around from customer service reps and reasons why they can't help/won't help me. The only person who has been helpful was the phone rep who removed the insurance I didn't want from my account.

~When I took in my iPhone, no one in the store could help me as far as knowing anything about the issues my out of contract phone was having. They just wanted to sell me a new phone.
Any problems with an iPhone must be addressed to Apple.  Verizon can't touch your iPhone for service.
~When I decided to purchase a new phone, I told the salesgal that I didn't want the payment plan/Edge, that I wanted to pay for the phone straight out, I didn't want to pay for insurance, and I did not need a car charger. Before you left the store you signed a receipt for the sale.  Why didn't you read it?

I agree it's inconveinient, but I can't see a way around it.  You certainly should call and inform the store of the error and that when you can you will return the charger and expect credit.
~Guess what? SHE didn't send me the form, either.
    Rebates can be printed online.
~This coincides close to the time where I get my new Verizon bill in the mail...guess what? They added insurance to my account, even though I told them at the store that I didn't want it. I spent 20 minutes on the phone with Verizon getting credited and the insurance taken off.
Also would have been fixed if your read your receipt.  Can also be removed from your account online with no need to call customer service.
~I finally get on Verizon chat this week, and the chat rep tries to help me with the rebate form, since two other people obviously can't get it to me. He gets me the information, I enter it in...and now the $50 rebate promotion is saying that it is no longer valid.
Rebates are based on purchase date.
~I also find out at work this week, that my company has employee discounts through Verizon. I have worked for this company for a year and a half. They are not responsible for you not taking the discount and they never discount phones, only service.
One customer to another, you have no basis for these complaints.  I do applaud you for buying your phone outright.  That way you also can keep your line discount.  ( or have you requested the line discount?  It isn't automatic )
