Unicode conversion - Import phase problem. (Preparing target system)

In the System copy phase, the ABAP export is complete.
In the setting up target system phase, while the ABAP import starts the sapinst gives out the below error message :

Things to note:
1. The source system is a non-unicode MDMP system.
2. Target system is again Non-unicode.
3. we are doing homogenous system copy.
4. No OS or DB2 database changes underwent after or before the export.
5. We tried using the latest R3load as per one of the SAP note. This could be noted by the bold texts in the log file.

Standard SAP periodic job to schedule import of requests in target system?

Hello Folks,
Is SAP standadard job available to schedule periodic import of requests available in the target system. I know it is not advisable to do something like this, but i remeber some one telling me there is one available.

Thanks for you replies folks... so...there's no standard job available. Its got be scripts at OS level, and ofcourse scheduling "import all" options....
but as we agree, this is not a recommended option.

Installation ABAP import phase problem

Dear Friends,
I am installing ABAP application server within Netweaver 7.02 which has been downloaded from this site on my LAPTOP.
Phases 1 -15 took about 2 hrs to install.
After that it entered Phase 16 i.e Import ABAP and it has gone on for more that 12 hrs.
Of the 37 processes in this phase the last 2 doesn't complete. One is shown as running and other is waiting.
My Laptop has around 320GB HDD(100 GB free) 4 GB RAM of which only 3GB is usable as it as 32 bit OS,2.4 GHZ Core 2 Duo
processor and Windows Vista.
I think it is abnormal to continue for so long.
It does not show any error message nor any problem in the log.
What is the problem?

1)How do I check the number of parallel jobs?
I think only one job is running because in the taskbar for the Installer it shows:
Import job Monitor: Running 1, Waiting 1, Failed 0, Completed 35, Total 37
The phase is Import ABAP and it has several jobs i.e threads of which only one is running.
2) Of the 4 Gb RAM only 3 GB is usable by Windows as it is 32 bit.Now of this Memory utilization is 65- 70%.
CPU utilization is 10-15%.
Since resource utilization is very less it is taking enormous amount of time.
As per documentation installation on a Laptop should not take more than 8 hrs but it has taken double the time i.e 16 hrs.
How much more time will it take?
Is there any way to speed it up ?

Inplace unicode conversion - error during import in step 2

We are having problems when running the unicode conversion import in step 2: Load Kernel Library. The problem occurs when SAPINST runs the FIXR3OWNS program. We can run FIXR3OWNS manually when logged in with QSECOFR.

Thank you very much. Stupid error :-).
I also did step 2 with fixr3owns yesterday with SAPINST and then it worked. I got to step 3 "iSeries Installation Step", but got an error in SAPINST when "Creating infrastructure for SAP system BND". I logged off SAPINST, patched CRTR3SYS and started SAPINST again and then got the error in step 2 wirh fixr3owns.
I´m now past step 2 and in step 3 "iSeries Installation Step". And I get the same error as I got yesterday...
From the job log:

Homegeneouscopy R3load procedure generated more tables on target system

Hi All
My source system is 46C SR2 /oracle 817/HP_UX PARISC and
Target System is 46CSR2 /Oracle 10202/HPUX IA
I used R3load procedure to export database from source system and completed import successfully into target system without any problem.The new system is up and running.
My Source system has total 23193 tables but the target system has 23771 tables and source system has 27011 indexes and the target system has 27701 indexes.
Can someone tell me why there are additional tables and indexes in my Target system.Is it due to oracle 10g.

I got this information from DB02 first screen where it shows number of tables and indexes.
Actually I used r3load procedure to export data from source and prepared target system also by r3load,
The source systems had less tables but the target got more.I have upgraded the target system to ecc6
and working fine.UAT completed and gone live.
Auditors have raised the question .
Let me know if there is any way to find this difference of tables though target is now ECC6.

OBN: How can we add the tcode of target system into Source System.?

I tried to add this t-code but could not find this t-code in SAP TM system.
How can we add the tcode of target system into Source System.?
I tries to import the role of target system but that does not work.

Hi Saurabh,
Logically there is no need to add a tcode of the target system in the source system.
If you have right roles in the system then system should allow you to add tcode in the OBN target simply by going to PFCG roles and using add transaction feature.
To make sure it works properly you have to check the Method & Parameter assignment to the newly added tcode.

Validate step retrieves ESSBASE target system meta data

Dear all,
for partucular reason we use for a specific dimension only *:* mappings.
This mapping causes that the validate step is always succesful for that dimension.
Sometimes we get an error during the export step, which says that the element does not exist in the ESSBASE meta data.
So, I we implemented a logic that is retrieving the imported elements in the target system ESSBASE meta data.
If they do not exist, the usre gets at the validate script an error pop-up.
more or less following logic:

yes you are right.
Unfortunately every FDM run would cause a large number o elements that have to be mapped. even it is a 1:1 mapping. -> a huge work
furthermore: FDM in standard does not catch the mapping only on specific (allowed) nodes in the essbase meta data.

objectname = /BEV1/CLDEB0 objecttype = PRKEY APPL0 tabart = APPL0 rowcount = 0 error message returned by DbSl: ORA-00001: unique constraint (SAPPRD.DDLOADD0) violated
Its means duplicate entry is there under schema SAPPRD and object /BEV1/CLDEB~0, check appl0 log findout the table and entry.

Can anyone tell me if it is necessary to do an Unicode Conversion first before upgrading a BW system to BW 2004s?
The Portal we are going to use is unicode enabled.
So this raises the question: "Do we need an Unicode Conversion first?".

It's not necessary to do a unicode conversion for NW 2004s BI. We still support non-unicode systems for NW 2004s BI. This link explains the pro's and con's of staying on non-unicode for SAP NetWeaver BI.

Is there a good methog of estimating the unicode export/import runtime . for a 9cpu system with 500 GB of database size , what is the thumbrule of calculating the runtime.
