Unicode ERP

Hello to all,
I have a question. Where can I find the table of compatibilities for SAP's Unicode ERP? I explain am looking for the areas affected in case of a migration of the systems Unicode. That systems would see Applications affected, CRM, Cross, Portal etc? I realize it to document the effects of the above mentioned plan.
Thanks in advance
Rafael Padilla

Hi,
I'm not sure what you are exactly looking for. Are you looking for dependencies that you should take care of when you convert your SAP ERP system to unicode?
If this is the question, then there the area I would check for detailed information is http://service.sap.com/unicode@sap
Off the top of my head, I would say your biggest challenge is all related to interfaces (I am not including all new development needs for new feature implementations):
- Data loads into and from the SAP ERP system. The formatting and the interface programs will need to be checked
- UI: SAPGUI will have to be changed to the new code page. Anything using SAPGUI will have to be checked like file uploads and printing. The Portal is already unicode so this should not be an issue.
- Printing: All printing/faxing/etc will have to be checked to ensure they can be used
- 3rd party software: All connected software will have to be validated for unicode compliance (back-up software all the way through to tax and EDI software)
- SAP apps: All the SAP apps support connectivity to unicode systems so there should be little to do here.
If you are converting from MDMP to unicode, you will also have to undo any workarounds you had for supporting the MDMP golden rules.
I hope this helps,
Mike.

  • Unicode ERP and non-unicode Dealer Business Management 5.00(DBM)

    Hi All,
We are going to adapt SAP Dealer Business Management 5.00(DBM)industry-specific solution to our local(serbian)language. For this we need following install steps:
    1.ERP ECC 5.0
    2.DIMP ECC 5.0
    3.DBM 5.0
Is it possible to proceeds on sach way because we have Unicode ERP ECC 5.0, but on other hand DBM 5.0 is non-unicod?
In case it is possible, please give me some ideas on it.
    Thanks in advance
    Predrag

    Hi Predrag,
How is DBM installed?  In the same system as an add-on or a separate system?  If it's an add-on, then they would have to have the same codepage.  If it's in a separate system, then there are some possible data loss "issues" when the sending system is Unicode and the receiving system is non-Unicode.  If the sending system sends a character that is not on the recieving system's codepage, the data is "garbage".  There are no such problems with Unicode->Unicode and non-Unicode->Unicode communication.

  • 0CUSTOMER data from Unicode R/3 to Non-Unocode BW Error

    Hi,
I am getting error data when extracting 0CUSTOMER_ATTR.
the error is similar to SDN Link: [Extraction from a unicode ERP to a non unicode BW|Extraction from a unicode ERP to a non unicode BW]
We don't have any Languages installed at present.
we are getting this error for Chinese char. In the above link there is a mention to do Initialization of SPRAS in INCLUDE ZXRSAU02. Can anyone explain this.
in the Table T002: SPRAS=ZH is set to Chinese; if we initialize to ZH how about other languages.
    Please Suggest.

  • How to add an image - binary data is present in data interface

    Hi,
we have the requirement that an image (e.g. pie chart) has to be present in a print form. Based on the data, the image always differs. It is not possible to set an URL to get the image so we decided to store the binary data in the data interface.
Is it possible to map the image control to the data structure?
How can we store the binary content of an image in the data structure (please think about unicode and non-unicode ERP systems)?
    Do you have any idea?
    Thank you very much.
    Thomas

    Hi Thomas,
You need to create an image field and in the source choose 'graphic content ; give the name of the variable which has the binary data . and give the type as 'MIME/image'.

  • File sender adapter - Encoding issue

    Hi,
On my customer site, we have an interface taking a file and sending an IDoc to the non Unicode ERP system. Unfortunately, when we have cyrillic characters in the file, the processing files with the error:
    com.sap.aii.utilxi.misc.api.BaseRuntimeException: Fatal Error: com.sap.engine.lib.xml.parser.ParserException: Invalid char #0x6(:main:, row:17776, col:893)
This is of course the result of using an invalid encoding in the communication channel. Until now, it was left blank, so UTF8 was used. I want to improve this interface in order to never again have this error because it involves some manual work fixing it and it's getting annoying in production to see this once a month.
What I want to do next is finding out the encoding from the guys delivering the file and then placing it in the communication channel. Pretty straightforward, right? On SAP, I think the cyrillic, non ASCII character will be replaced by #, but this is acceptable by the business. Not acceptable is this constant error.
Because I want to be sure of my assessment before I ask for approval on doing this modification with the associated testing, communication and everything, my question to you is: have you experienced this before in PI? Are all my conclusions accurate? How would you solve the problem?
Thanks in advance and best regards,
    George

did you try giving the encoding as ISO 8859-5  in the file adapter?
    File Type
    Specify the document data type.
    u25CB       Binary
    u25CB       Text
Under File Encoding, specify a code page.
The default setting is to use the system code page that is specific to the configuration of the installed operating system. The file content is converted to the UTF-8 code page before it is sent.

  • Gettin data from SAP R/3 4.7 unicode sys to SAP ERP non-unicode sys via RFC

We are trying to get data from SAP R/3 4.7 unicode sys to SAP ERP non-unicode sys via RFC. We are reading field from the database via FM and this field got converted by SAP standard Method (CL_ABAP_CONTAINER_UTILITIES=>fill_CONTAINER_C) from structure. When reading this field from ERP sys and converted back to structure using SAP standard Method the value is un-accurate, and different(blank) giving values.
How, if the data originally was a char or numeric it works fine, but not for decimal.
    best regards,

I have a range fields with different type of ranges, am saving these to the database by converting them to a string via the same method. I got the same problem so I tried to convert the string to xstring using function “SCMS_STRING_TO_XSTRING”, before send it to the other system, but the function raised an exception: CX_SY_CONVERSION_CODEPAGE

  • IDES ERP 2005 ECC 6.0 SR2 - unicode  configuration

    Hi Experts,
I successfully installed IDES ERP 2005 ECC 6.0 SR2 - unicode on windows 2003 32 bit with oracle10g on my home computer.
The system has inbuilt mySAP Business Suite components: BW 7.0/SEM 6.0, SRM 5.0, CRM 5.0, SCM 5.0, GTS 7.0 etc.
I can find the data of the IDES model company in client 800. but when I login onto client 001 I am not able to access model company data with the help of transaction mm03.
RFC connections are ok between the clients.
I will be thankful if you could address my following query:-
Is there any way to access model company data from one client to another client on the same computer.
    Please help!!

I suggest you ask in another forum. This forum is for portal related questions. I will however say that the general rule is you can only look at data in the same client to which you have logged. This is the basis for all SAP security.

  • Default Unicode encoding on SAP ERP?

Hello there! Who could help me out and tell me where I can find official SAP information about what is the default Unicode encoding if I choose to install SAP ERP Unicode system. Is it UTF-8 or UTF-16? Installer does not ask this question, it just asks you to pick "Unicode" or "Non-Unicode". How can I find out if the database will be UTF-8 or UTF-16? Tried to find documents but could not find any. Any links to any official documentation that has the answer would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi Anand,
Seems like you failed to complete the pre-installation steps...
As far as i can see there a Mount access failure, meaning the shares or mounts necesary for the installation are either unavailable or the user <sap>sid don't have enough rights to use it.
Check all your pre-intallation steps (included on the installation guide available at SAP Marketplace) and try it agian.

  • Is mySAP ERP 2004 is UNICODE compliant

    Dear Friends,
We are planning to upgrade from 4.6c to mySAP ERP 2004.I would like to clarify is mySAP ERP 2004 is unicode compliant or not.Asking this I mean all the data will be organized in unicode format in the new system when we are migrating or not.
I would be happy if some one can let me know efforts that are need to upgrade from mySAP ERP 2004 to 2005.
    Thanks & Regards

Unicode and non Unicode systems can co-exist in the same server, indeed. I have done it several times without any issues. Is it a fresh installation or a conversion? Make sure that you follow the SAP recommendations for additional CPU/RAM/disk space if you convert

  • My ERP 2005 - Is it only UNICODE version ???

I heard that my ERP 2005 which is based on successor version of NW 04 and which is scheduled to release in Oct 2005 only supports Unicode installations ? I can't find any information on this on SAP website or SAP service market place to validate ? Only thing I know is that SAP will no longer support MDMP installations with mySAP ERP 2005.
Can someone from SAP answer this for us. If we have French, Spanish and English language used which are code page 1100, are we force to convert to unicode if we have to upgrade to mySAP ERP 2005.
    Thanks,
    Raja

    Hi Max,
The growth varies based on the DB used. Oracle is based on UTF-8 so it has a variable length for fields. As the field length is variable the size of the DB depends on the characters stored.
Will you have a large numbers of data using exotic characters (like master data) or will you have minimal use of exotic characters and use more ASCII 7 characters? This has a different impact on DB size.
This is different for each customer so it hard to give an exact answer. The numbers you see from SAP about DB size are conservative estimates.
With regard to the size of your DB directly after the conversion.
The conversion process does a full DB reorg so the actual size maybe reduced. If you have a fully reorged DB before the conversion, then expect the DB growth mentioned in the presentations you have mentioned.
With regard to runtime of the conversion, there are a number of options available to you to speed the conversion. They are wholly dependent on your downtime needs and the hardware you have available. The optimization options are all based on optimizing data I/O and processing speed.
For the latest info, check out the TechEd 2005 presentations on the SAP service marketplace (http://service.sap.com/unicode@SAP).
    I hope this helps,
    Mike.

  • BW Unicode with ERP 2005

    Hello,
I'd like to ask about Unicode.
    I use BW 3.5 which is non-unicode.
this BW is connected with R/3 4.6C
I plan to upgrade R/3 from 4.6C to ERP 2005 and change from MDMP(English and Japanese) to Unicode.
In this case, will I have to change BW from non-Unicode to Unicode ?
If we didn't change, what would happen ?
    Regards,
    Koji

    Hi Nagai,
Unicode system will accept all the codes and text in any languages.
Character encoding schema for (nearly) all characters used world wide..Each character has a unique number („Unicode code point“)
so, better to Upgrade with unicode..
But one of the note(925170) recommends that If You are using the NetWeaver 2004s BI front end and you need to have Unicode BI systems.

  • When ERP change into Unicode base, what should I do?

    Hello,
    I'm using R/3 4.6C and BI 7.0.
I plan to upgrade ERP and change UNICODE base.
If ERP was changed to Unicode base, what would I have to do for BI, what would happen without doing anything?
    Best regards,
    Koji
Edited by: Koji Nagai on Sep 11, 2008 10:40 PM

    Hi Koji,
Both ERP and BI 7.0 systems should be in UNICODE system
then only data loading from ERP to BI 7.0 will be without data problems.
if systems are of different UNICODE system, data will not load properly into BW / BI system.

  • Unicode conversion for ERP

    Morning!
In that famous OSS note about unicode conversion, the attached guides are labeled
    as NW unicode conversion guides.
-- ERP can use the same guides?
-- how about the unicode conversion for other products such as SM, SCM, CRM, etc.?
    Thank you!

    Hi,
Answer to both the questions would be Yes. The conversion guides are as per the Netweaver base release for any of the applications (ERP, SCM, SRM, CRM etc).
Eg, If converting a CRM 2005 Non-Unicode to Unicode, the guide SCP700SP<xx> would be relevant, because the Netweaver 700 SP<xx> is the base release for CRM 2005. Similarly for all applications.
