we implemented unfied job monitoring on a larger scale by now, starting out with the monitoring of SAP Standard & Reorg Jobs.
Everything seemed quiet OK at the beginning, but over time display performance of the Monitoring UI decreased drastically (exceeding 5 Min. "per click" in the UI).
I pinned this down to the following (Oracle) SQL access:

MES_DB_AGGREGATE in our case has over 5 million entries.
The parameterization of the DB incl. Memory and all should be OK.
The index range scan simply takes that long.
This might be, because the MES_DB_AGGREGATECU index has the lowest cardinality column (CLIENT) first.

Hello Luis,
the configuration activities can be accessed via the "Implementatiopn Guide" by calling transaction SPRO in your SAP Solution Manager system.
In SPRO navigate to -> SAP Solution Manager -> Scenario-Specific Settings -> Job Scheduling Management -> Standard Configuration and execute the following two activities.
1. Activate Solution Manager Services
2. Set Up Work Center for Job Scheduling Management
Make sure that your user has role SAP_SM_SCHEDULER_EXE (or_ADMIN) assigned.
Afterwards you should be able to access the Job Management Work Center and to create Job Documentation or to import Jobs from a Managed System into new Job Documentations.

Integrate nagios with sap solution manager technical monitoring

We are using nagios to gather the alert from the CCMS of the solution manager 7.1.
Recently we start using the Sybase ASE DB 15.6 and 16 on SAP solution manager and Business suite. As the CCMS is not provided to monitor Sybaseand the only way to check sybase info is through the dbacockpit and the technical monitoring I would like to know if a concection is possible between nagios and the system monitoring in Solution manager so we can gather the needed monitoring informations.

As far as I know there is no standard way of doing this at the moment.
Take a look at using the non-SAP monitoring using OS Scripts as described
below:

Please share your experience with the universal dock for iphone 3g

Hi There,
1. Can people share their experience of the universal dock with the iphone 3g adapter. My concern is that does the tight fit scratch the black lower back of the iphone plastic everytime we remove it or put it in? OR is there enough gap for the iphone to slip in and out without scratching.
2. Anyone having issues with the universal dock or does it work fine for most?

I recently purchased a universal dock for my iphone 3g. It works great. I just had one question. When my iphone is sitting on it for lets say 20 - 30 minutes. Then if i press the buttons on the remote. nothing happens! If I then press the home button while it is on the cradle then, the remote, it plays music. There after lets say if I stop stop the music through the remote and again press the remote button after a few minutes it starts playing. So what happens after a long time. Why do i have to press the home button on the iphone for the remote to work. Is that how it is supposed to work???

Your Experience with RSSM / compatibility mode in BW 3.X ?

Hi Folks,
we have a dozen of InfoObjects referencing 0costcenter. These Objects are used in several InfoProviders and queries.
We also have more than 500 authorizations definitions for hierarchies, at the time being defined on 0costcenter.
This all works fine with RSSM compatibility for referencing Characteristics switched to on.
Now I came across the strong recommendation of SAP (Note 728 077) to switch off all compatibility modes in BW 3.X systems.
If I understood it correctly, well have to create an authorization object for each referencing InfoObject, which is not the point. Moreover well have to duplicate all our authorization definitions so that every node is defined for every referencing InfoObject. This will result in more than 5,000 authorization definitions! Needless to say, that were afraid of maintainability.
Were therefore tending to keep compatibility mode switched to on, which means to ignore SAPs recommendation.
Could you please share your experiences with compatibility mode in 3.X Systems?
Is there another way to obey the recommendation and not ending up in a bunch of authorization definitions?
How is this issue solved in BW 7.0?

Hi,
go to RSSM and give your infoprovider name and check the authrization objects which are present in the infoprovider ...it will have option ticked.
Basically authorizations are based on company code or sales org.
give that authorization object in the first option in RSSM and check on which infoobject it is based.
Also you can give your user id in one of the option in this transaction RSSM and then you can check for that authorization object do you have any values present for the included infoobjects or not.
You will not have those values entry here in the authorization object for those selections which you are giving during the report run.
Just change the vales here and give the desired value for which you are running the report.
Save it.

Hello,
you should have a look into SAP note 1054005 - "FAQ: Job Scheduling Management with SAP Solution Manager" for technical requirements. If the job doc is not assigned to a business process then BPMon cannot be used for the respective job.

Hi,
The system cannot capture the customizing data from your ECC6. This is another myth with SAP Solution Manager. Solution Manager can only smoothen the process of your Project Management.

A problem on Sap Solution Manager

Hi all,
I got a problem with Sap Solution manager and i hope that you will be able to help me
Ill try to do my best to be understood in English =)
So, here is my goal :
I want to use SolMan as a workbench for test with eCATT. I made a very simple test with the transaction SECATT : A script for a customer creation by the transaction XD01.
This script works well, so Ive done the test configuration, the Test data and the system data.
At this point, I dont have any problem. If I launch the test, it works. (Important point maybe : I work in remote from an environnement dedicated to SolMan toward a production one).
When I try to put this test in SolMan, there appear my problems.
I dont really know SolMan for the moment, but it seems that I have to begin by the transaction SOLAR01 which lead me to the Business blueprint change. But I cant modify anything in it, as the system always tells me the following error : You cannot change (or There are no) Structure nodes.
Maybe Im not going in the good way, but I try every transaction in SolMan, like Configuration, Test plan management or project overview & Administration. I filled all field I could, but its not working for the moment.
I just want to know how to get my test in a workbench, in a test plan on SolMan
Can you help me ?

What I understand from your contribution: You do not seem to have a problem working with the Test Workbench in general but would like to know how to work with the Test Workbench as integral part of SAP Solution Manager.
The basic idea of SAP Solution Manager is that you have the possibility of doing a process-oriented testing (instead of straight module or functioned-oriented testing with regular Test Workbench functionality).
This is why in SAP Solution Manager you would start of with setting up a project (in transaction SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN), in which you define a <i>process-oriented</i> blueprint structure in the next step (transaction SOLAR01) and attach test cases to your process-oriented structure (in transaction SOLAR02) afterwards.

Although the path vary between release - webservices for Solution Manager are usually available in transaction SICF
under the following path
/default_host/sap/bc/solman
/default_host/sap/bc/bsp/sap/solutionmanager
However I am not aware of an webservice/interface from CHARM to 3rd party service desk products
What is provided as of Solman 7 is an interface between SAP Service Desk and other 3rd party service desk products
- so if you setup Solution Manager Service Desk you can have a business process from
Openview ---> SAP Service Desk ---> SAP Charm

Unified Job Monitoring: How to delete a Monitored Object ?

Hello,
in unified Job Monitoring I face the Problem, that I deleted a Monitoring Scenario without deleting the included Monitored objects.
I set up another Scenario and would like to reuse the Monitord object names - which is not possible, because the System informs me, that they already exist. Also, in the Monitoring UI These Monitored objects still Show up and there's no way to get rid of them.

Do you mean bc4j.xcfg file? It will be under your app. module ./common sub-directory.

Running executable on clients,Share your experience

I have installed Oracle 9i AS on application server environment and deployed my forms and big application on this env.
Now I tried to run my reports (created as executable files) and they opened at the server and hangs the client till I close the exe. on the server.
Any body knows how can I deal with the client to run executable or share your experience.

I've done some evaluation of Forms and Reports 6i. Of the two, Reports seems to have most of the problems, but that is another discussion. From my notes I can recall:
Forms layout: If you delete a frame, all prompts dissapear. Reappear
when you close and open layout again.
Forms generic: Readme says 6i is patch compatible with 6.0. If you modify a form with a static record group in 6.0.8 it works ok. If you then recompile with 6.0.5 all static record group values are gone!
The bug where you may not get the property palette by pressing F4
before other windows have been activated still exists.
It appears that the (layout) window has focus, and from GUI point
I think it does, but cant receive events.
This behaivour can something be noticed in runtime also.
I don't think it is a problem with Windows as no other application
has this behaviour.
The issue of existing state of package
still exists, must try it with sql+
If you change a stored procedure in a way
that its signature doesnt change, forms
runtime still complains the first time
you call the procedure. The second time
it works ok. Strange.
Could not generate form with Ctrl+T. Tried Sh+Ctrl+K but got
