Universe Cardinality Issues

Hi,
We have migrated BO 6.5 Oracle based universe to BO Xi R2 and noticed that there is different in count of divergences are not same between 6.5 and Xi R2. The underlying connection is exactly same.
Any thoughts this?
Please let me know how to fix this.

Cardinality Issue - WD Model (Form) Integration with BAPI

Hi -
We have an issue with our forms editable fields are getting disabled (read only, we can not enter data) even though we have proper properties set.
Our developers are looking into a possible cardinality issue i.e. our form fields are test field and have a cardinality of 0..1, where as our bapi structure is showing a cardinality of 0..n for the corresponding field in bapi.
We had internal table as an export parameter so we though may be because of that we are getting 0..n. However we have changed the internal table to a type of structure and recreated a model mapped all the controller and context nodes back to the new structure and still get 0..n cardinality.
We have already researched on SDN logs and did not find any relevant answers.
Any one have any idea please make our weekend happy Developers are really working hard on Friday to close on this before they go home.

Hi Shahid,
If the context node cardinality is 0...1 or 0...n then you need to first create or bind an element to the node to make the form fields editable to which those nodes are bound to. If it's a model node then you need to instantiate a new model node object and bind it to the node e.g.:
Bapi_xxx_Input input = new Bapi_xxx_Input();
wdContext.nodeBapi_xxx_Input().bind(input);
Or if it's a value node then you need to instantiate the node element as below:
wdContext.nodemyNode().addElement(wdContext.nodemyNode().createElement());

Data federator Universe refresh issue

Hi all,
we are facing the issue refreshing the Universe which is based on Data Federator.
whenver the changes are done in BW Cube i.e adding the dimension or the keyfigure. the dimensionobject is not appearing in the Universe.even we delete the dimension or a key figure from BW and then refresh the dependent tables in DF . Deploy again the project,it is updating the catalog but when we refresh the Universe it is not refreshing properly
SO data federator and BW are in Sync but when we refresh the Universe it is not in sync
we are using BO XI SP3 and BW 7.01 SP7
I would really appreciate your valuable inputs regarding this issue

Ok. So, Universe on top of Data Federator has limited functionality.
And, other option you mentioned is on report level. I am creating an adhoc universe and I have few objects which will calculate days between 2 dates coming from 2 different tables.
But, how can I achieve this on Data Federator level. I have no function there to find Days Between 2 dates. I see lot of time and date functions but not the one I required. Also, I added a column in the target table and tried to apply the formula there in the default mapping area. But, I see only the selected target table. I need another date column from another table, which is not displayed in the default mapping area.
How can I achieve this?

SAP BW OLAP Universe performance issue

Hi,
Based on BO recommendation, I created a universe on top of a big BEX query which included all characteristics and key figures from a cube. I then created a webi report with 5 characteristics and 1 key figure from this universe. I also create the same report in BEX query designer(same number of objects). I ran both. The Bex query completed under a minute and the webi report took more than 12 minutes to run. I did a bunch of other test with different number of objects combination and saw similar differential in query performance.
I did a trace using 'sm50' and saw the open SQL submitted to BW from BEx was very different from what got submitted from the webi report. Here is what I saw in pseudo code.
Bex:
select dimension1.blah, dimension2.blah, dimension3.blah, dimension..... sum(measure)
from dimension1, dimension2, dimension3, dimension..... factTable
where dimension1.SID = factTable.d1SID
and dimension2.SID = factTable.d2SID
and ......
and (query filters)
OLAP Universe

where dimension1.SID = factTable.d1SID
select dimension2,blah, dimension2.SID
from dimension2, factTable
where dimension2.SID = factTable.d2SID

It seems the OLAP universe was querying the BW cube one dimension at a time and then somehow piece the result sets together to form the final result set. Dimension tables join to the fact table without any filter definitely causes performance issue. Beside, I have no idea why the query requests are submitted to the BW system like that.
I looked in varies forums and found no similar issues posted by others. Has anyone had any performance problem with there OLAP universe? Is this a matter of configurations?

SAP BW 3.5
BOXI 3.0

You cannot compare a BEx query and a universe query by just comparing the trace.
BEx query makes ABAP calls and universe query makes MDX calls;
Moreover there is only one MDX call sent to SAP, what you have noticed is that there is one MDX call to retrieve member for a given characteristic whereas a prompt has been set on.
Last, Web Intelligence consume only flattened data (row sets) wheras BEx consume data sets.
That means that there is a flattening operation between SAP OLAP engine and the data sent to the Web Intelligence document.
A fix have been developed for a customer to improve performance on Web Intelligence queries, this fix will be available for all customers in SP2 planned in June 09.
Here is a a brief summary of what the fix provide:
- Provide data directly from SAP server to Web Intelligence document. Avoid unnecessary conversion steps: row set --> data set --> row set
- Eliminate redundant sort operations
- Other optimization operations

Please help with the Universal Dock issue!!!

I recently purchased a universal dock for my iphone 3g. It works great. I just had one question. When my iphone is sitting on it for lets say 20 - 30 minutes. Then if i press the buttons on the remote. nothing happens! If I then press the home button while it is on the cradle then, the remote, it plays music. There after lets say if I stop stop the music through the remote and again press the remote button after a few minutes it starts playing. So what happens after a long time. Why do i have to press the home button on the iphone for the remote to work. Is that how it is supposed to work???

LaserJet 9040dn Universal Driver issues

We have just installed a new printer server running Windows 2008 R2. We have a few Laserjet 9040dn printers installed using the Universal PCL6 driver. I have an Excel spreadsheet that, when in Print Preview, shows gridlines, SOME OF WHICH, do not print out on the hard copy. When I print the same document on a different printer, all lines print out on the hard copy. This seems to happen to all of the 9040s on the network but not on the Canon printers using a Canon specific PCL6. HELP!!??!!??

I uninstalled the Universal Print Driver for HP Printers and installed the specific driver for this printer and that fixed the issue. Thank you to me!

How do I correct universe performance issue?

We are trying to complete an upgrade from BO XIr2 to 3.1 SP3. We have one universe (out of about 30) that is having serious performance issues in 3.1. The universe is slow to import (takes less than 5 min in XI r2 and more than 20 min in 3.1) and reports using it take about 5 times longer to run in 3.1 than in XI r2. I have already worked a ticket with support. All they provided was an adapt about Webi reports running slower in 3.1 than in XI that's supposed to be fixed with FixPack 3.6. This is rather vague and doesn't really help us get through a production upgrade that's scheduled for May. I've already checked all the unvierse settings and Webi report server settings to verify that the options that do exist in both XI and 3.1 are the same. Both versions of the universe are pointed to the same Oracle data source. I've worked with our DBAs to troubleshoot. The behavior on the database side is different in 3.1 than in XI but I don't know how to tweak it. When a report is run in XI, the database sessions run in parallel. When the same report is run in 3.1, the sessions are serial first and eventually go to parallel but are still considerably slower to run the exact same SQL. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

   Are you referring to ADAPT01453709?
   From what I have gathered, this is an known issue and had since been escalated to the SAP developer. There were several releases already been made. The earliest official release to public will be on FP 3.6, (ETA Jun 2011).
   You may want to check with the engineer that worked on your current incident to understand exactly what is fixed/addressed in FP 3.6. I suspect the fixes is on the symantic layer, not something you can easliy check via D/B and running some SQL script.

Cardinality issue

Hello ,
I created a node emp and with attribute name in the component controller and gave the cardinality as 0..1 and selection 0:.1 .
and in the view i gave UI element Input_field for the attribute name.
But is giving dump when im executing with the follwoing message :
The following error text was processed in the system ARD : Adapter error in &VIEW_ELEMENT_TYPE& "IN" of view "YEXAMPLE.MAIN": Context binding of property VALUE cannot be resolved: Node MAIN.1.EMP does not contain any elements
Could you please say why im getting dump .
Also when im trying to give the cardinality as 0..n to also im gettting the dump.
Plesae give info about the same.

Without an element there is nothing for the UI element to bind to. It doesn't matter if you have one attribute or many - you still need an element for the binding to work. All data binding (even to the context root) technically must go through a context element.

Universe export issues

Hi Guys,
I am on development environment. I am trying to export one universe which has secured connection to the repository but still it is giving error "universe cannot be exported"
As an alternative,
I created a new connection as secured, saved the universe and tried to export, giving the above error. it says the universe is not exported be-cos its connection type is not secured.

Hi,
You may not have export access when working from local system. So If you have remote access to client environment then try exporting unv in client environment and if you still face same problem then it would be better to take help of our admin.
Before that delete all the unv's in unv folder then save it and try to export it.

University server issue

I have an Xserve server running Panther on it and all of the computers that run off of it are running 10.4.8 Tiger.
What I want to do is set up each individual Student account with read/write access to their public folders. I also want to allow Teachers/Admins to have full access to each of the individual Students Public folders (Like a project submissions folder). However I want this folder to be private so that no other Students can access this folder (only individual students and thier teachers).
any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Good Idea, but there one problem can appear: remote machine can be Itself under the NAT. But it can work when I need to make simple connection between 2 computers with one not under NAT. For gaming for example. But can I create tunnel without enciphtion? Telnet, as I know can not built tunnels but is there another tool?

Epson R230 Intel Universal Drivers Issue

Hi there:
I have a friend who has just purchased an EPSON R230 CD Printer and we are not having any success getting the actual Epson drivers to work.
Looking at his system, I quickly realized that he had accidently installed the PPC Driver so that was quickly rectified after a download from epson.com but we are still unable to select the actual Epson driver in Printer Setup as they don't actually appear as an option?!?!
The intel installer seems to place the drivers into /Library/Printers/Epson/
rather than into /Library/Printers/Epson/Drivers/
But even moving the drivers to this location doesn't change anything and the drivers still don't appear.
Using the Guten(Gimp)Print 5.0b2/CUPS R300 Driver setup works fine and we are then able to print from most apps but we are still unable to print using the Epson CD Print Application as it requires the genuine driver. Because the aim of purchasing this printer was to print onto CD's this is a necessity to use the real drivers.
Calling the Epson CSC's just refer us to Apple and Apple CSC's just refer us back to Epson :\
All I can think of trying now is Printer Setup Repair:(http://www.fixamac.net/software/psr5/
but since the CUPS backend is fine I don't think this will really fix this.
Any other ideas on how to resolve this one?

Sounds like you may have a version conflict between the PPC and UB drivers.
First of all try using the Reset Printing System located in the Printers Setup Utility.
Restart the MacBook and install the UB driver again (and restart if told to do so).
Try adding the R230 printer again.
If it still doesn't appear in the list of Epson printers then have a look at the Epson folder for any mention of the R230. I would expect there to be a plugin for this model (there is certainly heaps of other model plugins present). If you can't find anything you could try moving the contents of the Epson folder to another location and then running the UB installer again. Might be also worth your while to have a look at the Library/Receipts folder to see if the UB driver is shown as a package here. If it is delete the package, restart and run the driver installer again.
Note that it is probably not necessary to have the UB version of the driver as the CD label app is most likely written for PPC. So if the UB driver keeps failing, try installing the older version after resetting the print system.

Getting Error message while trying to access security editior for a IDT universe

Hi,
I have created universe in SAP BO4.1, using IDT.
I have applied row level security for User Groups using Security Editor.
I have published the changes to repository.
But when I am trying to re open the security editor for that universe its throwing error:
"Unable to load security for universe ID ATF10O... (IDT 022123)."
I am not able to edit row level security, even this security restriction is not restricting data in WebI report.

The local file of Business Security Profile is missing or damaged.
Resolution
Use the workflow to reset the problematic Business Security Profile in the filestore. After that, you can manually re-create the new Business Security Profile to make it working.
Logon to CMC and find the ID of the universe with issue(e.g. 9010).
Logon to Query Builder (http://<web server>:<port>/AdminTools/).
Find the detail information about this universe with the following SQL statement:
select * from CI_APPOBJECTS where SI_ID = 9010
In the Search Results List, you will find a row with the title of SI_SL_BSPS (Business Security Profile), note down the number of it(e.g. 9016).
Then search with the following SQL statement in the Query Builder:
select * from CI_APPOBJECTS where SI_ID = 9016
In the Search Results List, SI_PATH is the local file address of the Business Security Profile (e.g. frs://Input/a_146/035/000/9106/).
Then you can back up the file and delete it.
Select a Business Security Profile without issue and rename it as the deleted one.
Put the new normal Business Security Profile under the location of the deleted file.
Then you can delete it in the IDT and recreate it normally.

Error in MDDataSetBW.GetCellData when Scheduling

Dear Experts,
We have a Web Intelligence report that refreshes in the Rich Client without a problem. If we try to schedule this report, we receive the following error message.
A database error occurred. The database error text is: Error in MDDataSetBW.GetCellData. FUNCTION_NOT_FOUND. (WIS 10901)
I've read the related SAP Note that says this is due to large data volumes, but it refreshes in the Rich Client fine. We've also restricted the WebI queries as much as we can and the underlying BEx query is also heavily restricted.
We're running BOE 3.1 SP2.
Any help to solve this problem will be massively appreciated,

Think is not million of records if cells if you have 10 dimensions and 100.000 records you will have this problem, because is million of cells.
How many dimension do you have in the query panel?
Other issue that I had with similar error number was related to LOV, and I solved this procedure:
1. check your Web Intelligence Processing Servers are enabled and running?
2. Does the user have the appropriate rights to the universe and connection underlying the report?
3. Do an integrity check on the Universe and resolve all cardinality issues from the migration.
Once all the integrity issues were resolved and the LOV's recreated u2013try to re-export the Universe, which will resolve the WIS errors.
4. check you have the Universes existing in the correct universe folders.
5. And also check the disk space.

Error MDDataSetBW.GetCellData (WIS 10901)

Hi all,
Iu2019m working with Business Objects series XI 3.1 and SAP BI. It give me the following error when I try to refresh a query in WebI after add on an additional characteristics. If remove that any characteristic, it works fine.
"...MDDataSetBW.GetCellData. See RFC trace file or SAP system log for more details. (WIS 10901)"
Please help me on this.

SMS Provider Locations Do Not Match - Problem installing SCCM 2012 R2 CU4

I have an SCCM 2012R2 CU1 site that has been upgraded from SCCM 2012 non-SP1, so I have gone from 2012 to 2012SP1 through CU5 and then to R2 and then to CU1.
Over the course of the life of this site, which has more than 10k clients and 10 Site Systems, we have installed roles, removed roles, moved roles and removed Site Systems.
I have also installed and removed SMS providers . . . which is where my issues begin.
The site properties in the console list 6 SMS Providers and even lists an SMS provider on a server that was retired and is no longer a Site System. When I query WMI using the following VBS script it only returns the *ACTUAL* SMS Provider locations,
2 of the 6 listed in the GUI.

I have a test environment which has also gone through some growth over its lifetime and has had the same changes to SMS Providers made. When I first attempted to install SCCM 2012 R2 CU4 in this test environment the installer continually failed the
prerequisite checker when querying the CU level of the SMS Providers. The only way that I could get past that issue was by running a site maintenance task via the CM installer and installing an SMS Provider at the location that had previously been an
SMS Provider but I had uninstalled that role.
I do not want to have to do that in my production environment, and would not even be able to do so if I wanted as I have retired one of the servers listed and cannot re-provision that machine.
Any CM12 gurus out there with suggestions? This strikes me as a standard MS problem when having multiple development teams working on a product/update and not having a standard location to check for configuration information (This is exactly the problem
when configuring DNS suffixes via GPO and not manually setting the GUI to match).

The issue I have is that I cannot find the WMI class that holds the SMS Providers that are returned by the GUI.
I actually engaged MS Premier for a SCCM 2012 RAAS about 2 years ago and that was when the discrepancy first reared it's head. The support person that I worked with couldn't give me a way of cleaning those entries at that point which is when I started
logging the locations to be sure that my maintenance task was really installing or removing the SMS Providers.
