Unix command execution with parameters

Hi Friends!
   Can I execute a unix command with file ?
            Like I want to create an account in Unix. for that I have to pass some parameters like account name. account id, directory, shell,  what I am doing  I am passing all this information to ABAP Proxy and it goes to file adapter and then it goes to unix server directory and then I trigger the command to create an account . We are happy with this.. but client is not happy with this file scenario... will it be possible for me use just abap proxy and at received determination i pass all the parameters with command and exevute it without using File. ?
if yes then How we can send parametes to unix and trigger a command.
Please reply me. your any help will be appreciated alot.
Regards
Naeem

You can call a shell script from Abap Side, and pass all parameters in calling phase.
Take a look:
http://searchsap.techtarget.com/tip/Calling-Unix-Shell-Scripts-From-ABAP
Otherwise, you can call a shell script in sender or receiver comunication channel in Xi/Pi, and pass parameters when you call the shell script.

  • Invoking Forms 6i application from command line with parameters

    Hi,
    I have a java application that requires to start up and execute an existing Forms 6i application.
    I am not a java person, and I could not find any help regarding this. If anyone knows how to execute an fmx(6i) from within a java application, then please let me know. The java application has to pass in parameters so that the the Forms application opens up with the correct data.
    One alternative suggested was that the java application execute a command line invocation of the Forms application. I am looking for the correct and complete syntax to do this. The fmx can be invoked from the command line with the following entered at the dos prompt -
    c:\>OraFrm6i\Bin\ifrun60.exe<module name> <userid/password@db>. This works fine and the Forms application is executed.
    The requirement is to pass a couple of user defined parameters to the Forms application which can be used by it to query the database and display the correct information when it opens.
    Any help on this would be greately appreciated.
    Thanks
    Shailesh

    Shailesh,
    Create a parameter in your form - eg. COUNTRY_CODE and add any startup code.
    Then add the parameter to your command line (or put it in a *.bat file)
    c:\>OraFrm6i\Bin\ifrun60.exe<module name> <userid/password@db> country_code=UK

  • ARD Unix Command install with root

    I'm a bit of a unix novice, I am trying to install a script file, 'install.sh', via ARD. Works fine in Terminal locally but I can't work out how to input the root password via the ARD unix command tool.
    cd Desktop
    chmod +x install.sh
    ./install.sh -i
    & set to run command as Root.
    I'm getting seemingly nonsense errors e.g. 'Error 127 sh: line 1: cd: Desktop: No such File or Directory' when the file is definitely there, on the desktop.
    I'm pretty sure it needs to enter the root pw in the code window, can anyone advise please?

    when you say install.sh is on the desktop of the remote computer. Is that the desktop for account root? Or is that the desktop of the current logged in users? (assuming the currently logged in user is not root)
    when you run a command as root you start at "/var/root/" there is only going to be a folder /var/root/desktop/, if you've used the login window at least ones to log into root.
    if the current user logged into the remote computer is another account, then your install.sh resides in another location. Witch will look some thing like this. /Users/nameOfUser/Desktop/install.sh
    try this. Send the command:
    cd Desktop
    pwd
    send the command first as the current logged in user, then as root. When you run it the first time, you should get some thing like  /Users/nameOfUser/Desktop/
    when you run it as root you'll probable see /var/root/.
    if you do then you would probable want to do some thing like
    chmod +x /Users/nameOfUser/Desktop/install.sh
    /Users/nameOfUser/Desktop/install.sh -i

  • Open application via. command line with parameters - Multiple times

    I'm using ANT to compile a program, then launch in FireFox ... I've looked all over for a solution to this, but have yet to find one.
    I need the command to open a specified URL in FireFox... easy enough, right?
    Solution #1 was to use the "open -a" command, with the URL- so "open -a FireFox.app/ http://someURL.com" ... the problem with this is that it opens a new window or tab every time- its a minor annoyance, but when you do 100 or more compiles during the day, its quite annoying.
    Solution #2 is to actually launch the program executable (FireFox.app/Content/MacOS/firefox) using the argument -url and that makes it so FireFox opens the URL in the current & front-most window. This worked great the first time, second time I get an error saying "A copy of Firefox is already open. Only one copy of Firefox can be open at a time."
    Anybody know how to make it so I don't have to close a window every time I compile? Your help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    If you don't get an answer here, you might try reposting in the UNIX forum. That's where the command line experts tend to hang out. Good luck.

  • AppleScripting unix commands appears to break in ARD 3.5.

    AppleScripts that involve drawing information using the "execute" unix command task appear to be broken in Apple Remote Desktop 3.5.x. Attempting to execute the command results in a "variable not defined" error.
    tell application "Remote Desktop"
              set sel to the selection
              repeat with s in sel
                        set ux to make new send unix command task with properties {script:"users", showing output:false, user:"root"}
                        set myUx to execute ux on s
                        return myUx
              end repeat
    end tell
    Result:
    error "The variable myUx is not defined." number -2753 from "myUx"
    This might be related to the previously reported issue involving reports, as documented here, because downgrading to ARD 3.4 seems to fix the issue. The instuctions for effectively downgrading as written by the user cathy fasano worked for me. However, this is only a workaround that forces you to use a version of ARD that may or may not work with Lion clients or on Lion systems.
    Under ARD 3.4, the script returns something similar to
    {status:"Succeeded on all", computerStatuses:{{|id|:"(computer ID number)", results:"(username)", output:"(username)", address:"(ip address)"}}}
    Is anyone else suffering?

    It appears the new 3.5.1 update, which claims to fix reporting, does not address this issue.

  • Problem With UNIX command in ODI Environment.

    The procedure uses an OS command - 'os.system' to execute unix command.

    We tried to execute the jython code by placing the files in local directories. The same error appears both when the file is in local and when it is in a remote directory.

    Hi,
    The unix command is a grep command which seems to work fine when executed alone. :-
    I guess you executed this from your Unix server , so it work fines.
    And when you are trying to execute outside from this (using ODI) , its failing , right ?
    Can you please check the permission settings for that script file (sh).
    Please try by giveing the full permission (specifically execution permission) for all users connecting from other machines.
    This can be one of the reason for the failure .
    please let me know if this is not working

  • Using Sent Unix Command in ARD 3 with proxy authentication

    I'd like to use Unix commands to update Apple software through ARD thus allowing me to lock the computer screen before the process using the ARD command to do so, thus keeping the users from interfering with the process .
    Our network utilizes password protected firewall proxy that hangs ARD when using the softwareupdate command through ARD's "Send Unix Command..." at the point in which it would ask for authentication if using the same command in the terminal.
    Is there a Unix/terminal script or a series of script commands that could be modified to wait and enter the appropriate authentication at the previous mentioned prompt?
    I've researched this topic on this forum and discover a few post that states it is not possible but they are fairly old posts so I am hoping ARD 3 has some scripts or commands that can pass thru a username and password

  • Problem with Updating clients with UNIX command

    Hi.
    Until this day, I used to update all our 50 client macs by manually logging in as administrator via ARD and choosing Software Update from the apple menu, this works always and I use our own servers SUS so the downloading is really fast. Still, this clearly is time consuming and annoying when you have this many clients. I have now done some search and I know I could do this by sending unix command to clients using ARD. First I had problems with running the command, then I noticed I need to run this as root. Then it "works".
    Works, not quite. It starts to run, and I can see all the output. I have tried this with few clients and the results are confusing. The following is an output from one client I send the command "softwareupdate -i -r"

    And thats it, it stops there. Few clients completed the task, but the output says that they skipped the installation of all updates. In the case above, there is some skipping too, and I don't know what it means. Yesterday I left one client to this part where its Registering updated components.... , and today when I came in, it's still there, and the task is still running. When I update the clients with the Software Update from apple menu, it takes usually 10 minutes max to complete the whole process, download and install. After I restarted the same client and ran the manual Software Update from apple menu, it shows the same updates, it didn't do anything???
    Am I doing something wrong with the command?

    I am having the same issue. I send the unix command to some test clients to install all updates. The process never finishes and stays at "Registering updated companents....". (See screen shot)
    I have manually restarted some of the clients after waiting a very long time. All updates seem to have been installed. I am wondering why the task hangs at this point. I want to be able to ran ASU with this Unix method on the 450+ macs that I manage at work, but it scares me that the task never seems to finish.

  • Problems with ARD and SwUpd Unix Command

    Hi everybody
    I have a problem sending UNIX commands to my clients, I work in a school with 500 macs, with 10.4 and 10.5 systems and all the computers download the updates from my Software Update Server, but when I try to send the command from ARD (sudo softwareupdate -i -a) the clients attemp to connect to Apple's servers instead my own SUS. It seems when I try to install with sudo command, overrides the address of my server.
    I show you the output:

    I have the exact same problem with two PowerMac G5's. I need to have full resolution on the remote G5 which has no monitor connected, but only get to choose between PAL and NTSC TV resolution. This is really annoying, and in my opinion a major bug in ARD 3.1 and below. Why is the user forced to see such a small remote window if the remote computer is capable of much more?

  • Execute an Unix command with pipe

    Hi,
    How do I execute a unix command with pipe from JAVA runTime.exec(cmd)? for example: "ls -l |wc -l"
    should return number of files. However, there is no output result. If I use "ls -l" as command argument, it gives file list.
    Here is my program:
    public static void main(String[] args) {
    try {
    Runtime runCmd = Runtime.getRuntime();
    System.out.println("sys testing");
    Process retProc = runCmd.exec(args[0]);
    BufferedReader bread = new BufferedReader
    (new InputStreamReader(retProc.getInputStream()) );
    String out = bread.readLine();
    while ( out != null ) {
    System.out.println(out);
    out = bread.readLine();
    DataOutputStream outSt = new DataOutputStream(retProc.getOutputStream() );
    outSt.writeChars(args[1]);
    outSt.flush();
    } catch (Exception ie) {
    ie.printStackTrace();
    Thanks in advance,
    Jeff

  • How to run Unix command with Pipe ( | )?

    Dear Friends,
    I have to execute the below unix command through java program.
    *ps -ewwo pid,args | grep -E "abc.sh|xyz.jar" | gawk '{ print $1 }' | wc -l*
    My code to execute this command is,
    Runtime run = Runtime.getRuntime();
    File workDir = new File("/root/sat");
    String psCmd = "ps -ewwo pid,args | grep -E \"abc.sh|xyz.jar \" | gawk '{ print $1 }' | wc -l";
    Process process = run.exec(psCmd, null, workDir);
              String line;
              int i = process.waitFor() ;
              if(i == 0) {
              BufferedReader buf = new BufferedReader( new InputStreamReader( process.getInputStream() ) ) ;
              while ( ( line = buf.readLine() ) != null )
                   System.out.println("Line - ["+line+"]") ;
              } else {
                   BufferedReader stdErr = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(process.getErrorStream()));
                   // read the output from the command
                   while ((line = stdErr.readLine()) != null) {
                   System.out.println(line);
                   }When i execute this command, i'm getting output as,
    ERROR: Garbage option.
    When i analyse the above error, i found that, the PIPE ( | ) command is not supported through java.
    Could anyone please help me how to execute the above unix command (with | ) in java?
    Thanks in advance,
    Sathish

    The pipe has to be interpreted by a shell so you need
    String[] psCmd =
        "sh",
        "-c"
        "ps -ewwo pid,args | grep -E \"abc.sh|xyz.jar \" | gawk '{ print $1 }' | wc -l"
    Process process = run.exec(psCmd, null, workDir);You should also read, re-read and then implement the recommendations in the 4 sections of http://www.javaworld.com/javaworld/jw-12-2000/jw-1229-traps.html .

  • Unix command to delete files with .cache extension

    I was wondering if anyone knew of a unix command that can be sent to another computer that will delete all files on the hard drive with a certain extension such as .cache.
    Like: rm *.cache
    Thank you!

    Well, I don't recommend it, but if you want to fubar the computer, send this as root:
    find / -name "*.cache" -exec rm -f {} \;

  • Invoking Unix command with java stored procedure

    Hi,
    I have a perfectly working environment and now I am trying to replicate the same in another server. I have a java stored procedure which invokes the Unix command using java Runtime.exec() in my code named "run". I am sure that the code is called and the java class run is resolved in oracle as I could see that in dba_java_resolvers dictionary. But I am not sure whether the function in java is called or whether a exception is thrown. how to identify this? Could there be any thing to do with settings in oracle side? please help me.
    Thanks in advance,
    Marutha

    Hi,
    Do you get any output while running the code?
    I'm testing similar solution and if there are any errors or Oracle can't execute the program due to permissions or other issues the error information will be displayed. Also in the Java class itself you need to catch exceptions and print stack trace to standard output.
    declare
    x number;
    begin
    dbms_output.enable(1000000);
    dbms_java.set_output(1000000);
    x:=system_command.run_command('testconnect.sh');
    dbms_output.put_line('Returned value='||x);
    exception
    when others then dbms_output.put_line('Sql error='||substr(sqlerrm,1,250));
    end;
    <system_command.run_command> - replace with a call to your java stored procedure.
