Unix Script in Process Flow

Hi
I have created Process flow which calls Unix Script and deployed the Process flow successfully. But it is giving error when i execute the process flow saying required scripts are not deployed.
Do we need to deploy the unix scripts? if yes, could some one advise how do we do this, as i couldn't see modules to import the Unix Script.
I am using OWB 11G R2.
Thanks

  • How to pass process flow input parameter to unix script external process

    Hi,
    I'm trying to pass a process flow input paramter (string) to an external process which is a unix script. I've been working on this for the last 2 days but can't get it to work. Here is the design. I have a process flow with 3 maps that create a file in the unix file system. I have a suffix, which is an input parameter to the process flow, that will need to be passed to the unix script to rename the file appending the suffix to the filename. I've tried different things and nothing works for me. Has anyone done something similar in OWB?
    Thanks much!

    I tried using useBean inside the Jsp for this.
    But following error comes:
    OracleJSP error: oracle.jsp.parse.JavaCodeException: Line # 13, oracle.jsp.parse.JspParseTagExpression@102e37e
    Error: Java code in jsp source files is not allowed in ojsp.next mode.
    Please explain why?

  • Calling external scripts from Process Flow

    Hi,
    I'm trying to pass a list of parameters to a unix shell script using the parameter list in the process flow external process activity. However the parameter list is not being correctly passed. What is the correct format, delimiter & use of quotes ?
    Examples:
    Parameter List : REPORT_GROUPS,IGA,QLD,1
    Unix receives : EPO T_G OUPS,IGA,QLD,1 (3 parameters)
    and
    Parameter List : REPORT_GROUPS IGA QLD 1
    Unix receives : REPORT_GROUPS "" IGA "" QLD "" 1 (7 parameters - "" = null parameters received)
    Quotes just seem to be ignored.
    Can anyone give me the correct format or the where the format is documented ?
    In using OWB 9.0.4 with Oracle 9.2.0.2 on a HP UX server.

    Hi Pavel,
    The process flow editor interprets the first character in the parameter list as a separator (the 'R' in 'REPORT_GROUPS...' in your case).
    Check out OWB User Guide chapter 9, which says :
    Parameter List The list of parameters to be passed to the external process. Type the path
    and file name such as ?/c?c:\\temp\\run.bat .
    The Process Flow Editor interprets the first character you type to be the
    separator. For example, the Process Flow Editor interprets the following
    entry as /c and dir.
    ?/c?dir?
    Use the backslash as the escape character. For example, the Process Flow
    Editor interprets the following entry as -l and -s and /.
    /-l/-s/\//
    Hope this help.

  • Shell scripts for process flows

    Hello,
    We have lot of process flows in Oracle Warehouse Builder. To execute all these process flows some body wrote shell scripts. But they hardcode. My job is I have to change hardcoded values to assign dynamically. How can we do that? My situation is file is moving from one directory to another directory. From directory is fixed. To directory is going to change. This aslo they hardcoded. This I have to assign dynamically. How can I? Please somebody can help in this situation.
    Thanks
    Sri

    You can pass parameters to the shell script and then use them inside. Like $1 $2 and so on.

  • Process Flow - External process - Return status

    Did any one know how to capture or get the return value when executing a shell script thru Process flow - User defined - External process?
    This is the scenario.
    OWB Server on UNIX. Version-10.2, Database-9i
    I am executing a simple "whoami" command thru the user-defined process.
    How do I capture the return value?
    One of my shell script returns a value. Based on this return value I have to send a page or schedule a dependency job on successful completion.
    Thanks.

    To add a parameter to the process flow, you will have to add a parameter to the start activity in the activity view (lower left corner of the process flow editor), by clicking the Add button.
    You can then pass this parameter to the other activity by using the parameter binding - click on the BINDING column of the activity parameter you want to pass it to and select the parameter added to the start activity in the previous step from the drop down list.
    When the PF is run, the user will be prompted for a parameter, then it will be passed to the next activity.

    you cannot put the copy command (or any commands) after the user/pass
    make a sql script with your copy command
    run_copy.sql:
    copy...
    exit
    [eof]
    sqlplus user/pass@db @RUN_COPY

  • Process Flow - User Defined object calling Unix Shell script not working

    Hi, I have a User Defined Object in a Process Flow with the following parameters :-
    Command: /usr/bin/ksh
    Parameter List:
    Result Code:
    Script: cd /shell_scripts
    ./dwh_get_datafile.sh param1 param2 param3
    Success Threshold: 0
    The script executes but it does not correctly interpret all the Unix commands within it e.g command such as FTP, DATE, GREP etc.
    In the job details I can see :-
    ./dwh_get_datafile.sh: date: not found
    ./dwh_get_datafile.sh: ftp: not found
    ./dwh_get_datafile.sh: grep: not found
    ./dwh_get_datafile.sh: rm: not found
    ./dwh_get_datafile.sh: ls: not found
    ./dwh_get_datafile.sh: awk: not found
    Anyone know what I have done wrong ?
    The script runs fine when run as a Unix script while logged into Telnet.
    Thanks.
    Paul

    The shell script is executed by the oracle user in the unix environment so make sure that the directorie where you can find the unix commands exists in the path for the oracle user in .profile as you can se in my example below.
    PATH=$PATH:$ORACLE_HOME/bin:$OWBHOME/bin:/ASW/ora_script:/local/bstat:/usr/bin:/opt/bin:/usr/local/bin; export PATH
    /JZ

  • Passing paramater from process flow to unix script in owb

    Hi,
    I need help in calling a function the return value must be passed as a paramater to user defined activity operator in owb which would in turn run a unix script on the server which would use the paramater passed.
    Thanks,

    i have a unix script named caproc. The script would be passed a paramater. the script would be called from simple owb process flow and i need to pass the paramater to it.
    i have tested running other unix scripts and the are running fine.
    as you said to create a variable 'x' i did that and under paramater_list of the user activity operator under binding i selected the variable 'X'
    the process flow was valiadated fine and deployed but when i run it it gives me this error.

  • Process Flow - Executing a shell Script

    I have a simple shell script being called at the start of a process flow, up until a few days ago this worked fine across DEV, TEST and PROD.
    It's now stopped working in PROD.
    It executes through the command line fine as an os user and when you inspect:
    select * from all_rt_audit_executions where execution_name like '%SCRIPT_ONLY%' order by updated_on desc;
    The return_result is OK, but the script has not executed (it creates a simple file and I have added another one at the end of the script 'id >> whoami.txt')
    I've no idea what the sysadmin has been up to so can't comment on configuration changes on the box.
    Any ideas?

    First off, if the admin has upgraded or re-installed the repository, it might have reset back to the default security properties
    The properties file is found in $OWB_HOME/owb/bin/admin/Runtime.properties and change the following parameters to NATIVE_JAVA :
    property.RuntimePlatform.0.NativeExecution.FTP.security_constraint = NATIVE_JAVA
    property.RuntimePlatform.0.NativeExecution.Shell.security_constraint = NATIVE_JAVA
    property.RuntimePlatform.0.NativeExecution.SQLPlus.security_constraint = NATIVE_JAVA
    Make sure that there are no trailing spaces on the line after NATIVE_JAVA.
    Also, if they have upgraded software could they have changed the detault UNIX profie so that you are no longer finding executables? Or changed around the file structure so that your script is in a different absolute location so that OWB doesn't find it anymore? Or changed up directory permissions so that the Oracle user can't see the script anymore?
    Just a few thoughts on things to check for....
    I'd ask your sysadmin to check the OWB security profile, and then to try running the script from the Oracle Unix account and let you know the results (assuming that you do not have access to the Oracle user).

  • Execute Shell Script from OWB Process Flow

    I am trying to execute a Shell Script from a User Defined activity of OWB Process Flow. As I have not done such things earlier
    I need to know:
    1. Where I will put the Shell Script (move_file.sh)?
    2. What are the values in need to enter in the external process parameters (such as Command, Script, Result Code, Parameter List, Sucess Threshold etc)
    Please reply this thread. It would be a big help for me and probably for others as well.
    Kind Regards

    Check this out,.
    http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B31080_01/doc/owb.102/b28223/ref_processflows.htm#i1173362
    And answer to your question1, the shell script should be on the unix server.

  • How to run shell script using External Process in Process Flow?

    Hi,
    We can run external process using Process flow.
    I would like to run shell script as external process in Process flow.
    Could any one please explain it?
    Thanks and regards
    Gowtham Sen.

    HI,
    As you said I tried this case. I got the following error. The script is running successfully while I tested at unix command prompt.
    The error is as follows..
    tarting Execution PFPS_SMPL_RUNSHELL

    Starting Task PFPS_SMPL_RUNSHELL:EXTERNALPROCESS

    My scenario is---
    I am trying to return a file name from one shell script. I created a external process for that. After completion of this process, I am running another script which takes that file name and trying to create a external table. The both scripts are runnning successfully. But while I am trying to run using process flow, its not coming.
    And I am not getting the way to catch the output of external process and pass it as parameter as another external process.
    Any suggestions are welcome.
    Thanks and regards

  • (urgent)how to run the sqlldr script in owb process flow?

    dear all:
    In my oracle warehouse ,i have to load much *.dat file
    into database with sqlldr in owb process flow. In owb process flow, I use the external process to run the sqlldr file with following configuration:
    1:======external process==========
    command : /app/ftpfile/sqlldr2.sh
    parameter list:
    success_threshold:0
    script:
    ================================
    2:create a file location in FILE LOCATION node:
    =============
    ODS_LOCAL_LOC
    =============
    3: in the runtime repository i register the location
    ============
    user name: oracle (for the sqlldr should run in oracle user)
    password : oracle
    host name: localhost
    root path: /app/ftpfile/
    ============
    4:configure the process flow
    ============
    path settings
    working locations:ods_local_loc
    ============
    after deploy them success in runtime repository,
    i run it ,it show me error following:
    ==========
    SQL*Loader-704: Internal error: ulconnect: OCIServerAttach [0]
    ORA-12545: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist
    ===========
    please help me!
    with best regard!

    Hello,
    our developers were getting this error code just the other day. They are using "sqlplus_exec_template" script to initiate these things. In our case, I had to do two thing:
    1) Modify their "initiator" script (the one that connects to runtime access user, and then calls "template") - it has to use tns connectivity "user/passwd@service_name"
    2) Create TNS entry (server side) for the "service_name" above.
    Now these SQL*LOADER mappings run successfully.
    Alex.

  • OMB Script - Run a process flow (OMBSTART) with input parameters.

    I have a process flow with one input parameter : PF_SCHEMA_NAME. This is a string, literal value = false.
    While running this from the OWB Control center UI, it prompts for value of parameter.
    I need to execute this process flow using OMB script.
    OMBSTART PROCESS_FLOW 'WMREPORT_INCR_DAILY_FCT_SIMP' IN '$OWFLOCATION' OVERRIDE CUSTOM_PARAMETER ('PF_SCHEMA_NAME') VALUES ('ADVIEWPROD')
    This gives following error:
    OMBSTART PROCESS_FLOW 'WMREPORT_INCR_DAILY_FCT_SIMP' IN 'OWF_LOCATION' OVERRIDE CUSTOM_PARAMETER ('PF_SCHEMA_NAME') VALUES ('ADVIEWPROD')
    Starting Execution WMREPORT_INCR_DAILY_FCT_SIMP

    Thanks David for your reply.
    But your suggestion did not work. I am still getting the same error.
    OMBSTART PROCESS_FLOW 'WMREPORT_INCR_DAILY_FCT_SIMP' IN '$OWFLOCATION' OVERRIDE CUSTOM_PARAMETER ('PF_SCHEMA_NAME') VALUES ('"ADVIEWPROD"')
    Starting Execution WMREPORT_INCR_DAILY_FCT_SIMP

    ORA-06550: line 1, column 608:

    Completing Execution WMREPORT_INCR_DAILY_FCT_SIMP
    Can you please help?
