Unknown app wants entry into startup items on secondary user account

Out of the blue, whenever i switch to my second user account, I'm assaulted with a dialog box/request from some app named "IJEWP application" to be allowed as a startup app. Since i don't know what it is, or where it originated, i don't want it in the lineup, but i can't do anything else, because it won't stop asking for permission to be allowed in.
I decided to try repairing permissions in this second user, and encountered some odd goings on in my system library, with certain "SUID" helper apps files being modified and then not repaired --
I'm ready to destroy this second user account and set up a new one, which will be a royal PIA.
Has anybody else encountered this?

Well, you could try this:
1) Disconnect your machine from the Internet (for security reasons).
2) Allow the app to add itself to the startup app list.
3) Manually go into the startup list and remove it
4) Reboot and see if the dialog box no longer appears.
I'm thinking that this dialog box appearance might be related to some software that you installed in the past that for some reason thinks you wanted it to be set up as a startup app, and that perhaps you've forgotten about the initial install, which may have been done under the other account. If you aren't willing to take the risk of doing this (the fact that an app has been added to the startup list won't cause it to run immediately, just after each subsequent restart), then use the Activity Monitor to try to figure out which app or process is displaying the dialog box, so you might be able to figure out the commercial name of the app that's involved in this.

  • Mac App Store update: right Apple ID but wrong user account

My Mac App Store updates get associated to the wrong user account but the correct Apple ID.
I live in Germany and have an iMac and a MacBook Pro, both purchased under Snow Leopard and now running Lion 10.7.2. Just after upgrading to Lion I "purchased" a free App (BibleReader 5.0.0). This morning I logged into my wife's user account on the MacBook Pro, and the App Store icon flagged an update. I switched to my user account and was surprised to see that the update wasn't flagged there. By listing my purchases I did suceed in finding an "update" button for BibleReader, but pressing it resulted in a (German) error message whch translates as "An update is available for another account. Please log in with the account you used to purchase the App". But that is what I had just done.
Intrigued I went back to my wife's user account. By logging onto the Mac App Store with my Apple ID from my wife's user account I did manage to update the app. Later at work I got the same error message on the iMac. But this time the only other user account on the machine belongs to Computing Services: I don't have their password and I ought not to use admin rights to gain access to their account. So I can't perform the upgrade on the iMac.
All family iTunes / App Store purchases are via my main Apple ID. My wife's user account on the MacBook Pro only exists so that I can manually synchronise our iCloud address books (she has an iPad).
    Any ideas?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
All the applications you purchase on the App Store are registered to your Apple ID, so you have to use your Apple ID to update them, or you have to purchase those applications again using the Apple ID they are using on that computer, so they will be able to update them

  • Automatically creating startup items with a new account

I'm managing some Macs on an Active Directory network. They're all tied in and working fine as AD connected computers, but as an administrator of these Macs I'd like to make it so that when a user logs in to the domain, the Mac automatically adds some startup items to their account. (We don't have network home directories or anything like that) Is there some way I can setup an AppleScript or some default settings somewhere to handle this?

the answer might depend on whether you are creating the accounts or allowing the users to create their own. I would think it shoudl be possible to create an AppleScript or an Automator job that woudl prompt for the correct information and the create the new user and copy the necessary file(s) and make the necessary settings.

  • Want to tick Open Item Management in TDS Account

    Hi Gurus,
I have posted some transactions to TDS GL Account but open item management is not ticked.
Now i want to tick open item management and i am running program RFSEPA02 in se38 but system is giving message that do not use report program for open item management.
Please tell me how can i solve the issue.
    Thank You

From ECC versions SAP has recommended that   Do not use the report program to set up open item management for the
    account.
Create a new account with the correct account assignment. Post your
items to the new account. If you want to use the original account
number, you must bring the account balance to zero, change the account
assignment, and repost the items. You can remove the old items by
    archiving the documents.
better you write to service market place or take the view from exactly same thing faced any one.

  • How to specify default desktop and/or startup items for EVERY user login?

    Hi
    My work iMac is

+Oops! User error! Anyway, here's the rest of my message...+
The iMac I use at the university where I work connects to Active Directory for authentication - there are no local user logins (apart from the admin account of course).
I'd like to know how to set the default items for all user logins. Specifically, I'd like the system to automatically create an alias on the desktop to a shared folder for every new user login, or automatically open that folder in Finder when logged in.
Though I'm the main user, if I'm not around other people may require access to the stuff I do for the multitude of projects I work on for a department of 30 people, and as everyone else uses a PC and only a few are Mac savvy, I'd like to make it as easy as possible for the poor dears to find the files. (We have a shared network drive where I can put some stuff but unfortunately our allocation is not very big!)
    Thanks.

  • I want to know how to merge 2 user accounts on my macbook pro

i got this macbook for xmas and when i set it up i didnt have my old pc to transfer file and now that ive doen the migration assistant i now have 2 user accounts i want to have everything on 1 account

First of all, run software update. They should have done this in the Apple store, but who knows.
Secondly, go through all your 3rd party apps that are not from the App Store (if any). Visit the developer's websites to check for updates or use the apps' built in 'Updates' function (usually in the File or Help menu of the app).
Thirdly, remove everything from your login items here:
     > System Preferences... > Users & Groups | Login Items
By 'remove' I mean highlight the apps in the list and click the - minus button underneath (do not check the 'Hide' box). This doesn't remove them from your computer - it just stops them running when your computer logs into your account.
After removing all, restart the computer and test to see if the problem remains.

  • I want to take old emails from one user account to another. Can't access 'net with old user account.

My computer was infected some time back, and the only way I could use most programs was to set up a new user account. Now I want to retrieve some old emails and move them to my new account, but can't seem to make it happen. F/fox opens under old a/c, but can't access 'net so I can't forward them. I tried putting them into a folder, putting it on a USB drive and dragging that into 'fox in my new a/c, but it won't open. I am using Win XP.

I want to move the Ipad from my husbands account to my account so I can purchase him an Ipad2 and I can use the old one with all the settings and apps as they are now and then update with my contact information.
    How do I do this?
He will run into a problem when he wants to use his own account.  Some apps will have been purchased on one Apple ID and other apps will have been purchased on a different Apple ID.  That's a nuisance situation when the apps need updating and, unfortunately, there is no resolution at the present time (IDs can not be combined).

  • Mail not showing up in secondary user account mail app

After buying a new macbook pro, I migrated my data from my Air to this new machine (after setting up my new system) and the Pro created a new user account to handle this.  The problem is, the migrated user and its data are what I want the primary account to be.  Everything works as normal as though it is, with the annoying exception of my mail app.  The first account set up with this new machine is the only one that receives any of my emails to the mail app.
    A few things to note:
I have verified that the migrated account (ie. the account I WANT as the primary user account for access to my emails via the mail app) has all the same email user settings as the other user account on the machine (the one I don't use as my primary).
Also, I have pretty decent knowledge of what I'm doing and am beating my head against the wall trying to figure out the problem.
Thinking of deleting the user account that was created when I first purchased this macbook Pro, but unsure if that will allow the account I want to use to be able to magically access my new emails coming in.  For now, if I want to read any of my new incoming emails, I have to log off my primary user account and log into the other one I don't use.  VERY annoying.  Any help?  Thanks

If you want to see Macintosh HD on the Desktop and you don't see it, that's because you have to turn on this feature. Open the Finder menu (on the menu bar) > Preferences > General, and mark "Hard disks".
Another way of seeing it is through Finder's sidebar. Open a Finder window, and Macintosh HD will appear on the Finder sidebar, under "Devices". If you don't see it there, open the Finder menu > Preferences > Sidebar, and mark "Hard disks"

  • Mac app store will not connect under a managed user account but will under admin. Please help clear this up?

After I have installed OSX Mountain lion I clicked on the app store to buy an app. Only one problem, it says it "cannot connect", I then tried under the admin account and it worked no problem. I log back into the managed user account and disable any parental controls that might be interferring, I try again and it worked. I need the mac app store to work under the managed user with parental controls on. I cleared the iTunes store cache and reset the warnings just to see if that might do the trick but no luck. When the latest update was availble I updated immediatly in hopes of that might fixing the problem but again it did not work.  I would really appreciate if anyone had any ideas on how to help solve this issue.
    -Thanks

Back up all data before proceeding.
    Step 1
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/NetworkInterfaces.plist
Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password. Restart the computer and test.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
Log out, log back in, and test. If there's no improvement, continue.
    Step 2
    Reset your computer’s PRAM.

  • I downloaded xcode 4 from my brother user account, and I want to move that file to my user account ( how can I do it please help)

Hi everyone can anybody help please, I downloaded xcode 4 from my brother user account, and I want to move that file ( which is xcode 4) to my own user account, I was trying to find how to do it, but unfortunatally couln't do it, so please need world help,

You cannot. You have to make your own download by signing into the App Store using your Apple ID then downloading the file.
If you just want to install it on your computer, then copy the file to a flash drive and transfer it to your computer.

  • What exactly happens to my apps and settings when i create a new user account, and delete all the other user accounts?

Such apps and settings that apply to icloud, appstore, and itunes. I know the apps will still be in the new account and any other purchased apps will be in the appstore for re-download. But what will happen I delete user accounts and choose not to save any folders or files of the soon to be deleted user accound? I don't have a disk to do a clean install and I'm trying to give my super old macbook pro to a friend and I want to make sure the laptop is his and everything of mine is gone. Will erasing free space do that trick?

If it is not installed in HD>Applications folder and installed in a user account then it's gone with the user account. It's that simple.

  • Windows 8.1 Mail app and Exchange 2010 EAS partnership - "Make Windows user account an Administrator" to meet security requirements?

As the title says,  I have a new Windows 8.1 based device which I'm trying to connect to my Exchange 2010 box (SP3 Update Rollup 2).  I currently have my iphone set up as an EAS client with no problems.  I have an EAS policy on my mailbox
with the following settings surrounding passwords :
Require Password, Require Encryption, Allow Simple Password, Time without user input - 10 minutes.  Allow non-provisional devices is also checked.
The Windows 8.1 device has Bitlocker enabled, which meets the encryption requirement - I know this because the 1st time I tried this it moaned about Bitlocker needing to be enabled to meet requirements, though at that time the local user account on the Windows
8.1 device was an admin level account so it never mentioned this issue, it worked normally.
Now, while using a std user account on the Windows 8.1 device and trying to connect up via EAS, it complains that my local windows user account must be an ADMIN level account to meet the security requirements...?
    Anyone encountered this?

Did anyone solve this problem? I'm also struggling with this issue.
this is still a problem. I'm just hitting it now and it's not doing much for management's love of Microsoft devices.
Evidently, it has to be an admin to set the policies on the device to match the policies on the EAS. And once set, a user can be changed back.
But this is seriously not cool. Don't the "app" folks and the enterprise folks talk to each other?

  • I want to get rid of my guest user account. It will not let me delete it from the user

I did not have the guest user account available and then after I changed some of my setting for my mail, I noticed that when I logged back in the guest user icon was present.  I do not want to have this guest user account on my log in screen.  I tried to delete it from my system preferences but all it does is disable the guest user but the icon still appears. I need some help!

    http://osxdaily.com/2011/10/13/disable-guest-user-account-mac-os-x-10-7-2-login- screen/
Thanks to Brad Caldwell for the questions and screenshot via Twitter, you can follow us there too.
How to disable that “Guest User” from appearing at the OS X 10.7.2 login screen
    Open System Preferences
    Click on “Security & Privacy”
Click the lock in the lower corner and type in your administrative password to unlock the control panel
Check the box next to “Disable restarting to Safari when screen is locked”
This prevents the Guest User account from being visible at the login screen both during reboot and at the login screen. Again, it’s highly recommended to keep this enabled for security purposes, but if your Mac is locked down with a security cable or you don’t have any use for Find My Mac, you could disable this and not feel too bad about it.

  • Want to move library to new Windows user account

My son had the first family ipod. I installed itunes in my account, not his, and it works fine. We have since added three more ipod users, all under their own window's accounts; they work fine. Well, now dad has an ipod, and I want my own itunes account/library under my user name. What is the simplest way to transfer my son's itunes account/library, currently under my window's account, to his own window's account?

  • How an Admin user log into a lock out standard user account?

I remember that I was able to override the access to the standard account user when the standard user has the screen lock out. This appear to be missing in Lion. Has anyone knows how to do this in Lion? Thanks.

From my personal experience I can say that at times, four folders (i guess Assets is one of them) somehow get left in C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Elements 11 Organizer folder.
I delete them and restart my system.. and reinstallation works fine. If that's the case with you, you can try it.
CS Cleaner tool might also help.
    Thanks
