Ocfs2 mount problem due to datavolume option.
hi,
i am trying to install oracle rac on fedora core 6 through iscsi.
when i try to mount,
mount.ocfs2: Invalid argument while mounting /dev/mapper/rac-crs on /mnt/crs. Check 'dmesg' for more information on this error.
error log in dmesg,
ocfs2: Unmounting device (253,11) on (node 255)
(27354,0):ocfs2_parse_options:753 ERROR: Unrecognized mount option "datavolume" or missing value
version of ocfs2:
[root@server ~]# rpm -qa | grep ocfs
ocfs2console-1.2.2-1
ocfs2-tools-devel-1.2.2-1
ocfs2-2.6.9-42.EL-1.2.4-2
ocfs2-tools-1.2.2-1
i googled and found this datavolume option was taken from 1.2 but also it is quite needed for voting disk.I saw the dates of threads discussing this problem and it is almost 7 to 8 months back.
how to make it work? is any new version available now? or how to fix it?
thanks for any response.
regards,
Nirmal Tom.VHi,
What parameter you use to mount ocfs2 filesystem??, they must be
/dev/sdb1 /u02 ocfs2 _netdev,datavolume,nointr 0 0

Ocfs2 mount with datavolume option fails on sles11
im using SLES 11 to build up Oracle 11g R2 RAC and using SuSE high avalability extension for ocfs2 packages. when trying to mount shared disks (ocfs2 formatted) with datavolume option (that is required for oracle ocr and voting disks) i'm facing the following error in kernel messages (dmesg):
OCFS2 1.5.0
(15281,0):ocfs2_parse_options:1213 ERROR: Unrecognized mount option "datavolume" or missing value
mounting with datavolume option is REQUIRED for ocr and voting disks , any ideas how to mount with this option?Faced the same issue on the SLES 11 SP1 kernel "ocfs2_parse_options:1476 ERROR: Unrecognized mount option "datavolume" or missing value"..
The mount works just fine without the -o datavolume option...
mount -t ocfs2 /dev/sdxx /dir
When we add the needed -o datavolume option thats when we get the error...
mount -o datavolume,nointr -t ocfs2 /dev/sdxx /dir
Was this issue ever re-solved on the SLES 11 SP1... Any patches or info on where one would we need to move to get more info.
Cheers -
I would like to use this options in the .hotspotrc file in the Java directory. (Java 1.5)
-verbose:gc
-XX:+PrintGCTimeStamps
-XX:+PrintGCDetails
But I got this error message:
Unrecognized VM option '-verbose:gc'
Unrecognized VM option '-XX:+PrintGCTimeStamps'
Unrecognized VM option '-XX:+PrintGCDetails'
Could not create the Java virtual machine.
I want to printing information about GC as many as possible.
Thanks in advance!Let me correct myself.
With this version:
-verbose:gc
+PrintGCTimeStamps
+PrintGCDetails
I got this:
Unrecognized VM option '-verbose:gc'
Could not create the Java virtual machine. -
[Solved] Error : The file or folder path /Probl?me 1 does not exist
Hello,
I encountered this error
The file or folder <path>/Probl?me 2 does not exist
while I was trying to open a directory already extracted from a zip file containing directories with special characters. In this case, it is a "è" that was misinterpreted as a "?".
I searched the forums and on google, the solutions proposed do not work for me. Although, I have to deal with these files written in french, I would like to have my locale in english (US), with a system wide support for special characters.
Attempt 1: Adding the option : iocharset=utf8 into the fstab, like this :
fstab :
# /etc/fstab: static file system information
# <file system> <dir> <type> <options> <dump> <pass>
none /dev/pts devpts defaults 0 0
none /dev/shm tmpfs defaults 0 0
/dev/cdrom /media/cd auto ro,user,noauto,unhide 0 0
/dev/dvd /media/dvd auto ro,user,noauto,unhide 0 0
/dev/fd0 /media/fl auto user,noauto 0 0
/dev/disk/by-uuid/24ba75ac-e52d-40eb-a599-83b394b500b2 /boot ext2 defaults 0 2
/dev/disk/by-uuid/c797f409-00bc-479a-b4d6-ab49943f644b / ext4 defaults 0 1
/dev/disk/by-uuid/668427a8-5f51-42bd-a316-fc7984bf5f4f /var ext4 defaults 0 2
/dev/sda7 swap swap defaults 0 0
/dev/disk/by-uuid/417cd1b7-8f06-414b-84d5-e8714d9646ab /home ext4 defaults 0 2
/dev/disk/by-uuid/ef9aa00e-0515-4d7b-aa23-8096e787250d /usr ext4 defaults 0 2
/dev/disk/by-uuid/17d401b7-2fc7-4d9f-8e17-657d86926d2e /tmp ext4 defaults,iocharset=utf8 0 0 <<<<<<<<<<<<<<
/dev/disk/by-uuid/71e543b6-e06c-4b0e-b1e3-3b491ff1fefe /var/cache/pacman/repos ext4 defaults 0 2
#/dev/sda12 /mnt/archive ext4 defaults 0 2
#.host:/ /mnt/hgfs vmhgfs defaults 0 0
This solution does not work, because after adding iocharset=utf8, in front or after a "defaults", after a reboot, while mounting the filesystem, there is the following error message:
Mounting Locale Filesystem :
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sdb1,

Attempt 2: Changing all the locale features in KDE and in /etc/rc.conf as well.

It is complicated to remove these directories. I had to use the inum to get precisely these directories before removing them.
$ ls -il
total 8
1577566 drwxr-xr-x 2 [username] [username] 4096 28 jan 07:09 Probl?me 1
1577573 drwxr-xr-x 2 [username] [username] 4096 28 jan 07:09 Probl?me 2
$ find . -inum 1577566 -exec rm -i {} \;
rm: impossible de supprimer « ./Probl\212me 1 »: est un dossier
Note that the hypothetical character 'è' is represented has a '\212', a 'È' if seen as a extended ASCII character.
These directories cannot be deleted this way :
$ rm -r Problème\ 1
rm: cannot remove `Problème 1': No such file or directory
or
$ rm -r ProblÈme\ 1
rm: cannot remove `ProblÈme 1': No such file or directory
What should I do to be make the operating system recognize those special character, and interpret them correctly ?
Last edited by ramboman (2011-01-29 21:45:50)I found a working solution, but better solution are also welcome
I had to have fr_CA not only in utf8 but also in iso88591. I had to modify the /etc/rc.conf this way :
LOCALE="fr_CA" <<<<<<<<<<<<<<
HARDWARECLOCK=""
TIMEZONE="America/Montreal"
KEYMAP="us"
CONSOLEFONT=
CONSOLEMAP=
USECOLOR="yes"
To preserve the english US language system wide, I had to add the following line in the /etc/profile :
# Allow french special character while in en_US
export LANG=en_US
The character misinterpreted by a "?" is now seen :
as a "è" in dolphin
as a "?" in the console
It is now possible to access the folders. -
Ok so the basics
KDE 3.5.9 from kdemod (not the full version): from desktop go to control center -> Desktop -> Behavior -> Device Symbols (3rd Tab) and make sure the box is checked (Checked) --> I got the corresponding Icons On Desktop
CD-ROM/DVD-ROM automounting and autounmounting works like charm, with the icon showing up, and eject command unmount and removes the icon.
extx partitions work great as with reiserf
As root everything works, with ntfs, both on Konqueror and from CLI
But as user I Got the hideous:
TODO: have to rethink extra options
I have installed latest hal, ntfs-3g, dbus
NEXT the files:
/sda3/etc/fstab (dbus removed from demons as instructed from the wiki)

KDE have this option when you right-click on a HDD from properties at the mount section at the end:
mount by user
UNCHECK ΤΗΑΤ ΟΝΕ and done
Last edited by trotos (2008-06-17 13:53:41)Did you ever encounter these error messages:
[cyt@arch ~]$ dmesg | tail
NTFS driver 2.1.29 [Flags: R/W MODULE].
NTFS-fs error (device sdb5): parse_options(): Unrecognized mount option locale.
NTFS-fs warning (device sdb5): parse_options(): Option utf8 is no longer supported, using option nls=utf8. Please use option nls=utf8 in the future and make sure utf8 is compiled either as a module or into the kernel.
I do not add those hal related policy files, and just uncheck the "mount by user" option. -
Archlinux 2.6.27 on HP nc6000, bad performance
Hello guys.
I have a problem with performance on my laptop. I have tried several things but it didn't help. I'm using newest xorg, kernel, xfce and open ati drivers from arch repo. My graphic card is ati mobility 9600. I have noapi option on kernel load. The problem is that everything is working bit slowly. I was using modified slackware before and everything were fine with older versions of xorg, kernel and driver. So i think this is the problem.
Here's my dmesg:
[areiks@areiks ~]$ dmesg

Any ideas? Maybe somone has this notebook? Maybe its driver problem? But in glxgears i have about 1,1k FPS and also i have direct rendering.
I wish you could help me. Thanks anyway.
Last edited by areiks (2008-12-21 21:46:46)Hello guys.

Oracle application server fails with jdk1.6
I have installed oracle application server 10.1.3.3, i want to use jdk1.6.0_xx. i configured in this following way
Renamed the current JDK directory used by the Application Server installation ( in our case renamed jdk under this location “/product/10.1.3.1/OracleAS_1” to jdk.orig using mv jdk jdk.orig)
Then went to this location /product/10.1.3.1/OracleAS_1 and execute “ln -s /usr/jdk/jdk1.6.0_13 jdk”
check java version from this location /product/10.1.3.1/OracleAS_1/jdk/bin use ./java –version
When i start i am getting this following error in the log file.
Unrecognized VM option 'AppendRatio=3'
Could not create the Java virtual machine.To get it starting, remove the AppendRatio.

Can't get SQL Developer 1.2.1.3213 to Start
OS: Windows XP Pro SP2
Java: V1.6.0
Oracle V9.2 and V10.2
If I run sqldeveloper.exe, nothing happens. If I run sqldeveloper.bat in a command window, I get the following error message.
Unrecognized VM option 'JavaPriority10_To_OSPriority=10'Do you have other java versions on your system?
The error implies you are using an older version of java. Make sure that 1.6 is on your path. -
Using nanosleep() in a threaded program cause SIGBUS or SIGSEGV
Greetings,
I'm working on a multit-threaded program using Solaris' threads (not POSIX).
When I call nanosleep() or usleep(), sometimes the program works well, but often I get either a SIGSEGV or a SIGBUS.
Have a look at the following dbx output using a core file:
(dbx) threads
o> t@1 a l@1 ?() signal SIGSEGV in t_splay()
t@2 a l@2 cpu_thread() LWP suspended in ___nanosleep()
(dbx) thread 2
dbx: unrecognized arg/option '2'
Use the 'help' command for more information.
(dbx) thread t@2
Current function is cpu_thread
367 nanosleep(&sleep_time, NULL);
t@2 (l@2) stopped in ___nanosleep at 0xfe5c017c
0xfe5c017c: ___nanosleep+0x0008: bcc,a,pt %icc,___nanosleep+0x18 ! 0xfe5c018c
(dbx) list
367 nanosleep(&sleep_time, NULL);
(dbx)The code used to create the thread:
thr_create(NULL, 0, cpu_thread, NULL, 0, &tid);Am I missing something?
Any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks,
-Thomast@1 a l@1 ?() signal SIGSEGV in t_splay() Most likely a corrupted malloc heap. Thread t@1 is crashing
somewhere inside malloc() or free().
Use libumem(3LIB) or dbx's access / memory checking support
to find out where you're corrupting the malloc heap.
t@2 a l@2 cpu_thread() LWP suspended in ___nanosleep() The nanosleeping thread isn't responsible for the crash.
The t@1 thread is the culprit. Print a stack trace for thread t@1. -
OBIEE 11g Software only installation on Linux-64
Hi All,
I have installed Weblogic10.3 on linux-64 system and then installed OBIEE 11.1.1.5.0 software only installation in the same middleware(as cerated by weblogic)on the same linux-64 system.
So far so good.
Now i am able to see wlserver, Oracl_BI1 and /opt/beainstall/Oracle/Middleware/user_projects/domains/Weblogic/ObiEE11g(domain name).....
But i am not able to see Instance folder ?????
Even system didn't ask me for DEV_BIPLATFORM and DEV_MDS Schema path and password.
How to get this Instance folder?
Do i need to do any more configuration ?
How to make obiee11g run ??
I dont have any clue for next step..Please guide me here.....:)Hi Dpka,
Step no. 1, 2 , 3 and 4 is already done successfully.
Now today i started configuration step and get failed by ""Step Restaring Admin server failed "" error.

Hello Folks,
in the recent past I read a lot of posts and papers about method inlining in the HotSpot VM (especially method inlinings based on invocations via invokevirtual). From what I read the JVM is able to inline even such methods when there is only one class which implements the referred interface (since there is only one possibility for the dynamic type of the interface reference). These information might be true. But I want to see it with my own eyes. Is there any JVM option which makes it easy to profile when a method is inlined at runtime? I found that the option -XX:+PrintInlining would be the one I have to use. But when I try to enable this option while starting the JVM in debug mode the following error occurs: "Unrecognized VM option ''+PrintInlining".
Does anybody know what is going wrong? The version of my JVM is 1.6 (which should support this option).
I'm also interested in any information (preferred scientific papers) about method inlining in the HotSpot JVM.
Thank you very much...Sorry...instead of invokevirtual I meant INVOKEINTERFACE.
Is there noone who has some hints for me? -
Hi,
Im still struggeling to get Gnome-Volume-Manager working.
Since the last upgrade of HAL and GVM every hardware i have tried has been recognized. :-)
I still however cant get the automont to work.
The device gets recognized and HAL creates the devices.
fstab-sync kicks in and creates nice entries in fstab and creates directories under /media
But the actual mount does not work. Automount does not work. When trying to mount the device as myself i get:
mount: only root can mount /dev/sda1 on /media/usbdisk
and when trying as root:
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sda1,
or too many mounted file systems
When looking into /var/log/kernel
FAT: Unrecognized mount option "pamconsole" or missing value
What is this "pamconsole" stuff? Its in the corresponding line in my fstab.
Seems like either im missing some package or a badly configured one?alexthelion wrote:in /usr/share/hal/fdi/90defaultpolicy/storage-policy.fdi you can disable that pamconsole thing. And you can change /media to /mnt, if you want.
I have noticed that one. But if i understand things correctly. You should not change anything in that file but instead add files in the hal/fdi/95userpolicy instead.
To be honest, I'm a little bit confused about all those new hardware things. udev, hal, dbus, g-v-m. it's not easy to understand which component does what.
For example: if I plug in a USB Mass storage, then hald emits some message via dbus, right? But it seems that hald is also directly calling fstab-sync. So what is g-v-m doing in this scenario? Obviously not the mounting part, or what?
My understanding is this. (Please correct me if im wrong)
UDEV is a userspace replacement for devfs and is responsible for creating the device files in /dev
HAL is a hardware abstraction layer that listens to hotplug and keeps an inventory of the hardware on your machine. HAL also uses dbus the new message bus to notify anyone about changes etc.
Then there are two important listeners for these events.
fstab-sync which listens to added and removed devices. And creates/alters the files in /media and the /etc/fstab file.
Finaly we have GVM, which also listens to these events, and does the actual mounting.
I think that there is something wrong with the util-linux package. util-linux contains among other things the mount command. And it seems like it is mount who does not understand the pamconsole stuff. -
The aim is to mount any usb storage (say, not mine one) with write rights for normal user. So, use cases with fstab and udev automounting are not acceptable.
OK, I have found this https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/US … ge_Devices wiki page and have tried to follow. In particular, I have:
~ $ sudo blkid -o list -c /dev/null | grep sdc1
/dev/sdc1 ext4 (not mounted) 15bfa2da-6214-4228-851e-c1207b74fc34
~ $ sudo mount -o gid=users,fmask=113,dmask=002 /dev/sdc1 /media
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sdc1,
missing codepage or helper program, or other error
In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
dmesg | tail or so
dmesg shows "Unrecognized mount option" for all these three options (I have tried to remove them one by one). Apparently, ext4 just hasn't these options. But - how to mount?Congratulations on your choice of Os ;-)
To solve this problem you can try and create a directory called /rmdisk , then start vold running:
/etc/init.d/volmgt stop
/etc/init.d/volmgt start
if you are lucky your USB flash will show up under /rmdisk/<name> after a few seconds.
If not you should be able to see the flash with cfgadm, which list the status of USB ports (among other things).
Solaris should automatically create a /dev/dsk/ and /dev/rdsk/ entries for your flash memory, if its not automatically mounted by vold, try and stop vold using
/etc/init.d/volmgt stop
Then do a cd /dev/dsk and run an ls -lart, the USB devices should be among the last devices in that list, then mount it using:
mount -F pcfs /dev/dsk/<device> /some/directory
the device should end with s2 or p2, some flash devices might also need :c, aka /dev/dsk/<device>:c, it depends how its configured.
See man mount_pcfs for more information...
Hope this helps a bit (:

GlassFish suddenly stopped working
Hi there
I am using NetBeans 6.7.1 on OS X 10.5.8. I have been busy coding all day today in Java Server Faces using Netbeans. This evening all of a sudden Netbeans would not allow me to run my program (which was working fine 10 mins previous). I decided to restart Netbeans, in fact the laptop, and upon trying to run the program since I get the following message:
Unrecognized VM option ''
Could not create the Java virtual machine.
Then after a few minutes a popup box appears stating:
GlassFish V3 Start failed.
I have transferred my code onto another box (also an OS X machine) and all is fine with my code. I have tried a completely new JAva Web Application but even that won't run. All of my programs compile cleanly.
Any thoughts, I don't know where to start on this. I have tried reinstalling NetBeans straight over the top, but to no avail. Any help advise would be appreciated, I haven't had to diagnose Netbeans / GlassFish problems before.
I have posted the same problem to the netbeans forum but I have not received a response. I am not sure if the problem is Netbeans or GlassFish?I suggest you try asking in the Glassfish user forum:
