Unresponsive script error without changing script?

All of a sudden all of my websites that run the same slideshow script (Flash/XML, with image links) now get this error when clicking on one of the slideshow images to go to a specified page:
Warning: Unresponsive Script
A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete.
Script: http://accessretirement.com/new/:16
(all slideshow instances are showing the same :16 at the end of the URL, this is just one example)
Clicking on the link DOES take you to the new page about the same time the error window pops up.
This is happening on an iMac running 10.8.4 and a laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium.
This error does not happen in Safari. It works just like it's supposed to.
Really appreciate any thoughts, regular IT guy is out and I am not a developer. :-)

I tried it without the :16 on Windows 7 (the :16 led to a page not found error).
I find there is a long delay after clicking the Flash image before the next page loads, but no error message. I have made some modifications to my Flash configuration, so that could explain part of the difference on Windows 7, not sure about Mac.

Error message: "Warning: unresponsive script". Afterward, the system freezes and will then crash. Crash reports have been submitted many, many times without response. I have tried the fore-mentioned solutions with either no results or very bad results which I filed a report but did not receive an answer. The application to block scripts actually worsened the problem and I could not correct the situation for a while (no response from Firefox, at all). I have also been through this procedure without any one contacting me, AT ALL.

There does appear to be any support whatsoever from mighty "non caring" FIREFOX & people are getting fed up. We may as well try another system, if they can't be bothered to provide any support for their system, we can't be bothered to use their system.

  • Unresponsive Script Error when Saving Changed Set in Flickr Organizer

I'm getting an unresponsive script error when saving a changed set in the Flickr organizer.
The problem started when using Firefox 3.6.8 or maybe an earlier version. It persists in Firefox 3.6.12
I've noticed the error only appears in the Organizer and only when saving a changed set or saving after deleting a set.
It does indeed save the changed set correctly before crashing.
It is not intermittent and happens every time I perform this save.
The error does not occur in Chrome or Safari.
Examples of the error messages can be found at
    http://www.flickr.com/photos/blazer8696/4897580573/
    and

Upgrading to 4.0.1 has corrected this problem.

  • Cannot not log on without a Waring: Unresponsive Script notice. This is not acceptable as I have to wait for it to open, close it and wait for a second notice of error.

I up graded last week and now I get a warning notice of unresponsive script followed by a second notice of type error every time I try to open FireFox and other websites through FireFox. This is causing me delays I cannot not afford. How to I correct this? I would like to keep using FireFox but cannot if this isn't corrected ASAP. Below is not the notice I receive.

    Hi Corel
    Thank you for your reply
However I need the lower case version for some sites and the upper case version for the site in question? To make matters worse this site does not allow you to change your log on name unless it is in the form of an e-mail address
So what I need is Kostas for this site and kostas saved for other sites and allow me to choose which one I want to use
How do I do this please
I have no bother with this on Win Internet Explorer but I like Firefox
Mind it may be as simple as deleting The appropriate entry and resetting with Kostas instead of kostas?
But I would appreciate knowing the correct solution from an expert

  • Firefox often slow, not responding and showing unresponsive script errors.

In the last few weeks, firefox has often gone unresponsive, usually shown as 'not responding.' This lasts anywhere from a few seconds to several minutes (possibly longer, but by that amount of time I loose patience and 'end task' in task manager.) This is usually followed by an 'unresponsive script' error. Which script it is varies. I've been responding by clicking 'stop script,' which usually fixes the problem temporarily.
The problem seems to occur mostly randomly, but will predictably always occur on site with videos like youtube. Here it is also worse, taking much longer to resolve if it does at all. I've got flashblock active, and sometimes the error will occur before I get a chance to activate the video and sometimes after, but will always occur. Also, on this sort of site, the 'unresponsive script' error will also go unresponsive most of the time, which I've not seen anywhere else, meaning that the only solution, after a while is to end the process in task manager. I've at times attempted to play the same video for half an hour with no success.
As I've therefore spent a fair bit of time in task manager, I've noticed that I end up with many processes running for FlashPlayerPlugin_15_0_0_152.exe*32 (Description: Adobe Flash Player 15.0 r0.) They build up the more I use firefox, but go away when I restart my computer. I've gotten up to at least 50 at one point. Most use 128 or 124 K of memory, but about 1 in 7 uses between 1-5000 K. I don't know if this is linked to the above issues, but I've only noticed it since it started.
I've tried resetting firefox and it changed none of the above.
If it helps, I used Windows 7. Feel free to ask for any more details about my system and I will do my best to answer, though I'm not an expert in computers. Thank you very much in advance for your help.

Thanks for the advice. What solved it was disabling all addons and then restarting the computer. I've since reenabled Adblock (2.6.4) and Flashblock (1.5.17) without causing the problem to reemerge, leaving Troubleshooter (1.1a) as my only previously enabled addon I've not reenabled. I am no longer experiencing the issue.
Regarding updating to version 32, I tried this, but the official site told me I already had the most up to date version of firefox for some reason. Normally, it updates automatically. However, as my issue has been solved I don't consider this a problem.
Thank you very much for your advice.

  • I get the error message "unresponsive script" when I try to open Firefox, and then I can only delete the message by going to Task Manager.

After I downloaded the Firefox update, when I tried to open Firefox I got the error message: "Warning unresponsive script...etc". This happens every time and the choices in the message ("continue" etc) are unresponsive. Further I can't delete the error window without going to Task Manager to end the program. The problem also disabled Internet Explorer which will now simply not load. Google Chrome is working. I assume it relates to the update since the problems (for both Firefox and IE) occurred immediately after the download.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

  • What precise steps do I take to STOP this annoying 'unresponsive script' freezing of computer; error message: "resource://gre/modules/XPCOMUtils.jsm:329"

When computer is first turned on, and after Firefox is launched, the screen freezes. It continues to remain unresponsive to any mouse clicks or keyboard actions. After 10 to 20 minutes error message pops up:
    Unresponsive script: resource://gre/modules/XPCOMUtils.jsm:329
followed by 2 choices (buttons): wait for script to finish running or stop the script.
This is an enormous waste of time and highly frustrating.
If you answer this question or provide a solution, kindly do not use technical or vague terms like "check if there's a problem with the hardware accelerator or with add-on or extensions". That's too general and I can't follow up. It's a bit like saying "go cook a meal". Instead, I'd appreciate if you give precise instructions, steps 1, step 2, step 3 and so on. Thank you.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH IF YOU PROVIDE A SOLUTION!!

  • I keep on getting this unresponsive script error "Script: chrome://greasemonkey/content/prefmanager.js:55" . I have tried to update everything and it still showing that error and then crashing. What can I do?

I am running Facebook and leaving it on..when I come back to it or sometimes when i am using it i get this Unresponsive Script Error - Script: chrome://greasemonkey/content/prefmanager.js:55. If i click continue or stop it will go away but many times the page is frozen so i have to restart Firefox. I am not using Chrome so i am surprised about that part of the error. I have read the other posting and have tried to change the time under config......can't remember the rest and it has not worked. Please advise what else i can do.

In Firefox the use of the term chrome refers to the user interface and other elements that are not part of the web pages.

Your problems seems to be caused by the GreaseMonkey extension.<br />

  • I keep getting "Unresponsive Script" errors in random "jsm" files several times a day. Why?

Several times a day I get "Unresponsive Script" popups as I browse the internet. They're almost always different. Sometimes its in tabbrowser, sometimes it has something to do with a YouTube page I have open, and sometimes it occurs when I try to save a file with the built-in download manager.
I don't know why it does this so often. I don't have many Addons.
I also copied the technical information about my browser to help out if it can identify why these Unresponsive Script Errors keep appearing.

  • Frequent Unresponsive script error chrome://global/content/bindings/text.xml:32 w/ Firefox frozen

    I FREQUENTLY get a
    Unresponsive Script:
A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, open the script in the debugger, or let the script continue. Script: chrome://global/content/bindings/text.xml:32

Do you see any connection between pages that generate this error and the use of the Flash plugin? Incompatibility with the Protected Mode feature of the Flash plugin is one possible cause for slow script errors (on pages that use Flash).
The Protected Mode feature has security benefits, but seems to have compatibility issues on some systems. You can disable it by creating or editing a settings file. The following pages/posts provide different approaches for that:

Flash needs to completely unload from memory (exiting and starting Firefox up again might help) before this takes effect.

  • Downloading 4.0 onto XP it takes a long conection process, with boxes on unresponsive script and a java scipt app saying type error and is all very annoying so what can I do I want the old firefox back a

I downloaded Firefox 4.0 replacing an earlier Firefox version. I have XP on my computer. When I now click on the Firefox icon after a time a window saying Unresponsive script and underneath script chrome etc comes up. I then press stop script and another window comes up Java Script application and type error. Eventually I get on to the internet but it's all very frustrating. I wish I had ignored the request to download 4.0
    Please help

I can assure you that the sympton is indeed identical. For as the computer got worse, eventually it refused to start up and made 3 beeps. It has done this before, but today more times than before (just like when it first had this problem). Where-ever you go on the internet, it will tell you that the 3 beeps suggest the RAM is at fault. So, the same 3 beeps, means the same problem, which is the RAM.
With that in mind, I re-ask my question with the same reasoning and justification; am I still covered under warranty? (Reasoning/Justification: Considering the original problem was not entirely fixed, though something else was to make the MacBook Pro last a little longer before the reoccurance of this problem).

  • How can I add a new vaiable to the file loaded by Property Loader without changing my script

I have an input file to my script that I load via Property Loader. The number of parameters in the input file may change from test to test.. Is it possible in some way to add a new parameter without changing the sequence file?
Is there for example a way to make the Property loader read parameters until end of file, and put the parameter into a temporary variable in my script?
Hope there is a way to resolve this.
    Cheers
    Claus Christophersen

    Claus,
The solution you have is a valid one.
Basically you have a variable (global or local) and you import the expected parameter to this variable before you pass it to the hardware.
You use that variable as the input parameter you pass to your hardware of course.
You have to modify your source file depending on the test type you want to execute every time you want to change the test type though.
Another solution would be to use Data Markers in your file to separate the variable values corresponding to each test type.
Check the example I am attaching.
At the beginning I prompt the user for the Test Type (Type I or Type II).
Based on the type, I import the corresponding variables from the source file using Data Markers.
If you have questions let me know.
