I'm trying to export my object and download it as a XML file. I have done this with ServletOutputStream and it works fine in XP but when i tried it in Windows 2000 ( IE 6) I'm getting an Unspecified Error (JS Error) after clicking Save in Open/Save dialog. I found the root cause of the problem from the site http://bytes.com/groups/javascript/153397-javascript-unspecified-error , which mentioned that reference to current document object is lost after click Save. Also mentioned the solution as assign the document object to a global variable and use the variable instead of document object through out the page. Since JSF implements some JS code in the JSP page to render the UI components in the page using document object I'm getting this error. But i don't know how to change the document object used by JSF to render the page. Any suggestions how to do that?

There are also a lot of folks who automatically create the newest, best PDF with the latest technology and assume everyone will be able to read it. This will work for a lot of things, but there are typically features in the newer PDF versions that cause errors in older systems, such as you are getting. There are 3 choices: 1. Ask the creator to create a new version that is AA6 compatible (either in the creation process or using Reduce File Size or PDF Optimize); 2. Upgrade your AA6 to a newer version. I am not sure how far back AAX will go for upgrade -- typically 2 or 3 versions; 3. Download the new Reader and deal with compatibility issues between AR and your AA6 (there are bound to be a few -- but are typically workable once you figure out how. This is not an Adobe recommended solution).

Get disclosed showDetailItem [panelTabbed] when page renders

My Jdev version is 11.1.1.6.
I have a page where there are many showDetailItem under panelTabbed component at different levels.
These showDetailItems are showing regions implemented as bounded taskflow using fragments. I am controlling taskflow activation logic using a pageFlowScope variable setting the value using something like this:

type="disclosure"/>Similarly other tabs are sharing variables as pageFlowScope.TabLevel2, pageFlowScope.TabLevel3...
When the page renders first time, the value of pageScope variable is not set, since no disclosure listener is fired yet. I can not assume to activate the first Tab's taskflow since user may not have access [authorization] to first tab and in that case, it is not rendered at all.
My problem is - How to figure out which tab is the first rendered tab at each level?
Is there a way to capture which tab is disclosed under each panelTabbed component? I can then do something like setting the pageFlowScope variable for that level. My tabs are fixed at design time, so I can hard code showDetailItem's component Id to check/set.
I tried binding panelTabbed in a bean and then try to iterate through it's children but it returns 0 children when page is rendered first time.
So apparently, I am stuck and don't know how to proceed on this. Any help is highly appreciated.

We are already using UIShell in our application. It is based on One-Page application concept.
Menu is opening the pages in dynamic tabs supported by UIShell.
The page has it's own tabs (showDetailItem under panelTabbed) defined at design time. I need to control activation of taskflows only when they are open.
It works fine after user starts interacting with the tabs as disclosureListener is fired but first time is an issue.
I need a solution to figure out the "open" tab at each level. Obviously, it's too late to change the design/navigation architecture of whole application.

"Unspecified Error" or "Runtime Error" 7 when launching application with AcroPDF on Secured Vista PC.

We have a client application written in Visual Basic 6 that uses the AcroPDF ActiveX DLL to view PDF files in our app. The app works fine the clients secured Windows XP SP 3 PC, and on my Windows Vista Business 32 bit Virtual Machine. However, the application will not launch on the client's highly secured Vista Enterprise 32 bit PC's. The form with the Acrobat Browser control does not even initialize before a "Runtime Error 7: Out of Memory" message is presented. I created a VB 6 test app that has just the form and the Acrobat Browser control on it, and this test application will not initialize either. It gets an "System Error &H80004005 (-2147467259). Unspecified Error" message on attempting to launch. I get the same error message if I attempt to add the Acrobat Browser control to a form in an MS Excel Macro in Excel 2003 on the same PC. Test VB6 applications using the other controls and references in the application launch fine.
The Acrobat installed on these PC's is Acrobat Professional 9.0.0 and/or 9.1.0. In two cases, we have been able to have the application load after uninstalling /reinstalling Acrobat 9.x on the PC, but ONLY for the profile that did the installation. And in one case, after removing that user profile and then logging back on, that user started getting the same errors above.
What policy or registry setting is needed to get this control to initialize on a secured Vista PC for all users?

I have done the following on my Vista Business VM and I still have not been able to duplicate the error that I see at the client site.
1. Enabled UAC.
2. Implemented Software Restriction Policies.
3. Set the Default Security Level to Basic User (except for Local Administrators).
4. Lowered the Integrity Level on my AcroTest1.EXE and on my actual executable to "Low".
The sample application and the user application loaded the form and initialized the AcroPDF control when logged in as a normal user account (the account is only a member of the "Users" group on the local Vista PC).
Since this application is an actual Windows application (not an Internet Browser plug in), the default integrity level should be "Medium".

SharePoint Error "The security validation for this page is invalid" when delete an item

I have SharePoint 2010 setup and works fine until today all of a sudden it throws error "The security validation for this page is invalid" when delete a SharePoint document or list item.
There is no custom event handler deployed on library/list, and it should not be account issue as the same account works yesterday, and even after I turn off security validation from Central Admin, it still doesn't work.
The only change I did is turn off Dynamic Compression from IIS, after that I tried enable back Dynamic Compression but it still doesn't work.
Does anyone know what could be the possible reasons? Thanks in advance.

Dear Experts,
When I try to generate a XL report, I get the error
"Required COM Addin has not been loaded and prohibits MS Excel from running".
Afterwhich, I go to Program Files > SAP > Addons to run the COMAddin-peruser-something.reg. After running this registry file. still same error.
Anyway, I also experienced the below error when trying to Stop the XL Reporter Addon:
"Run-time error '-2147024882 (8007000e)': System Error &H80004005(-2147467259). Unspecified error"
Does anyone has any ideas on this?

It sounds as though a script on the site, or an advertisement, is not working quite right...
When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
(You also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
orange Firefox button ''or'' Tools menu > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now")
(2) Remove the site's cookies using either of these. Save any pending work first.
While viewing a page on the site:
* right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
* Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

PowerPivot Error "Failed to connect to the server. Reason: Unspecified error" when importing other files

I have been getting the error below on a regular basis when attempting to import Excel, Text, or Access files.
I'm running Office 2010 (SP1), and PowerPivot (SP1). After reading a similar thread I reinstalled PowerPivot. It worked until I closed Excel. Now it recuses to allow import or update of these files. I really need it to work. Anyone have an solution or even
something to try - other than uninstalling and reinstalling PowerPiviot everytime I need to import or refresh files?

Unspecified error when trying to access Control Panel

I am currently setting up Remote Desktop Services on Server 2012 and I have enabled the policy
"Prohibit access to Control Panel and PC settings".
When a user clicks on the Control Panel icon, or anything else that points to Control Panel (Screen Resolution, Personalize) they get the normal error of
"This operation has been cancelled due to restrcitions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator" which is fine and is expected, but they then get the error,
"Unspecified error".
Does anyone know how to fix this?

Have you enabled the option to display "Personalization" in Group Policy?
This is because "Personalization" option is linked to Control Panel, so if you prohibit access to control panel, and right click on the desktop select "Personalize", it results in the "Unspecified Error".

Unspecified error when writing variant shared variable

Hi everybody,
I'm getting an unspecified error (-2147467259) when trying to write a variant to a shared variable hosted on my cRIO device.
I'm using a cRIO chassis as a headless controller that dynamically finds remote ScanIO chassis at startup. Similar to the LabVIEW example, the cRIO finds the chassis and generates clusters containing the IO container refnums as well as other information about the modules. I generate two arrays (local and remote) of these clusters, turn them into a variant, and publish it as a network published shared variable so they can be used in a remote PC to add or remove remote channels as needed.
Has anyone had this sort of issue before? I'm new to real-time so I'm not sure if I have violated some canon here or not Thank you for your help

There appear to be a few Corrective Action Requests (CARs) associated with using shared variables of the variant data type. The closest one I could find related to your issue was CAR #291679 where Wiring FieldPoint IO Point into shared variable throws error -2147467259. All CARs that I could find about using shared variables of the variant type threw the same error you are seeing and are feeding into it less standard datatypes (FieldPoint IO, LVClasses, IMAQ references).
To get a more general overview of your problem, does this error come up the first time you try to write to this shared variable or does it come up somewhat randomly? It would help if you could tell us exactly what hardware you are doing and if you can recreate this issue by simply deploying a program that writes a constant cluster with the same data types into that shared variable.
A possible workaround for you to try would be using the Flatten to String and Unflatten from String functions and pass that through a string shared variable. This has seemed to work for others in the past.

Firefox won't start, and I cannot download the new version as it keeps saying 'unspecified error' when I try

We (my wife and I) downloaded the new version of firefox, but found that it was being very jerky and slow and just didn't really like how it looked. My wife did a system restore on our computer to see if that helped, and since then firefox hasn't started at all - if we double click on the icon, it looks like it's doing something and then it just doesn't open. Whenever I try and download it again it comes up with 'unspecified error'. I've tried deleting all the firefox program files from my computer first, but there is one file in conponents that it won't let me because I need administrator permission. It doesn't seem to make any difference anyway.

Using "System Restore" can cause your Firefox installation to get corrupted because not all files are restored (only files in a white-list), so be cautious with using System Restore.<br />
You need to (re)install software that was affected.<br />
Remove the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\) before reinstalling a freshly downloaded Firefox copy to do a clean install.
