Unwanted automatic decrease in bit-rate upon saving. How do I fix this?

Hello all,
After a recent, unexpected computer crash, Audition seems to have lost all of my previously programmed presets and preferences causing one quirk in particular I wish to fix as soon as possible. Please help!!
When working with any MP3 file, as I make changes to the file in Edit view and simply hit ctrl+s, every time I do so a message prompt comes up saying "You may be saving to a compressed (lossy) format. Be sure to keep a backup of your original file if you wish to preserve full audio fidelity." After that, it proceeds to save the changes while at the same time decreases the bit-rate of the file to between 80-96kbps down from 128, 192, etc. It has never done this before, usually it would just make the save without altering the bit-rate also. I'm searching the menus everywhere to find a checkbox that I may have had un-checked before but has gone back to the default since the crash, but can find nothing. I really do not want this automatic downsampling to continue, in order to get around it I have to Save As every time, which makes for a lot more work having to delete the old copies and keep track of which are the edited versions I wish to keep. I work with tons of files, so this gets difficult.
I am using Adobe Audition 3.0 Build 7283.0 on a Vista PC.

Thank you for your prompt reply. Ah yes, I am aware of such a feature in the mp3 options menu, but do you know why my copy of Audition is behaving in this way and how I can get it back to the way it was? Saving As does save the file with the criteria I prefer, but it creates an extra copy that I'd like to avoid since cleaning up the previous versions of each file that are no longer needed can take a lot of work since the folders that contain them I work with are very large, having to be searched by hand to remove the unedited copies.
As where if I hit Save before it would just overwrite the file avoiding creating two of the same file (one with edits the other without), leaving its bit-rate intact instead of reducing it by as much as half at times. Having that aspect of Audition working again would be very helpful!

Clear the cache and the cookies from websites that cause problems.

Colors not saving correctly when image is saved, how can I fix this?

Hi! I've been a photoshop user for my newish photography business since this past summer. I honestly still have a lot to learn, but thankful my images have always been spot on, until now...you see, I recently discovered that when I open my png or jpeg files (these images were saved in ps cc), the photos appear to be dull and muted. It ls like the vibrance/saturation has been shifted down and yellow tones removed or muted greatly. I even saved some fo these files on a disk and reopened them onto my computer and they still look awful. I did not change any of my settings and to be honest, I don't know which ones are the best to work with since every photog I've asked has told me something different....buuuuut beside the point...nothing has changed. My profile settings are the same and I am confused and rather frustrated. If you know how to fix this issue, please share with me because I am at a loss.
How I edit photos:
Import into lightroom
Edit with preset
Export with preset into PS CC
Do finishing touched
Save as jpeg
Here is a screen shot from my computer. The photo on the right is the saved photo and the left is the photoshop photo. If you can tell, the photo on the left is dull and appears to be very flat. It also does not have the golden undertones that the ps cc photo has, which is what I want...

What color space are you working the images in? The Info panel and the little status box at the lower-left of the editing canvas can be set to show you your current color profile. I set the Info panel to show me the profile myself.
When you do File - Save As to save the JPEG, are you saving the color profile with the JPEG?
Lastly, when you say "the photos appear to be dull and muted", how are you comparing them (specifically)? Are you sure the application you're using to compare them with what you see in Photoshop is color-managed?
I suspect what may be happening is that you're editing your photos using a wide gamut color space, then either saving the JPEG work product without a color profile or viewing it in an application that does not support color-management.
Regarding someone telling you the best settings to use... The thing is, it's not really possible to suggest specific settings without knowing a lot more about your particular working environment. We don't know, for example, whether the printing process you're using will properly interpret the color profile. You should regard with suspicion any advice that suggests "set it and forget it" settings without trying to understand your color-management needs.

Cell reference Parameters in Connection properties of Excel are not saved, how do I fix this?

I'm using excels pivot table function to grab data from my MS access db through ODBC connection.
I've set up the connections with parameters for my selection criteria or the "where" clause if you read the SQL statement. The parameters I use refer to cell values on in my workbook.
My problem is that the parameters are empty every time I reopen the workbook. This creates several problems. If I attempt to refresh the connection Excel crashes. If I attempt to save the workbook excel will crash.
So I have to manually re-input the parameters for each connection I have in the workbook. The parameters function and the ability to use cell values as the parameters is great and opens up for great possibilities. But it seems it's not working?
I even opened the xml file in the .xlsx container and found where the information for the parameters reference is stored. And it was present the connections.xml as:
<parameter name="From YYYYMM" sqlType="4" parameterType="cell" cell="Admin!$C$5" />
Which tells me there is nothing wrong with my saved xlsx file.
Is there any way around the problem?

Hi Jaynet, thanks for your reply.
My cells do contain values so that's no problem. It's a very simple setup where I have 2x6 cells with a couple of parameters that are to be used by all my connections in the workbook.
Using vb code to update the "forgotten" parameters inside the connections was something I also was thinking could be a solution. Just felt it would be a shame when the functionality for what I'm trying to do cleary has been built
in to excel in a very simple way through the UI.
Before I go down the vb route I'm gonna see if I can find more info about any fixes for this bug in excel, maybe a hot patch or something like that. (I can't speak vb so building such a thing is going to take a while for me as I have to take bits
and pieces I find around the web to get stuff working) :)

Firefox 8.0 in safe mode crashes multiple times daily on my 64 bit Vista PC , so how do I fix this?

For the last 2 weeks after installing Firefox 7 and then this week installing update version 8.0 my 64 bit Vista PC started to crash at least twice each day; tried running disabling selected plug ins and extensions, and then using the safe mode option but Firefox 8.0 continues to crash multiple times daily. This problem does not occur on my Windows XP PC.

Both Trusteer Rapport and Roboform are known to cause Firefox 8 to crash, even in Safe Mode.
Do you have '''Trusteer Rapport''' installed? If so, disable it.

I upgraded to Firefox 4 and my toolbar didn't load, now Firefox won't start automatically saying a script has stopped working. how can I fix this?

Before Firefox will load I have to stop a script message that appears saying that the script for this page is either busy or stopped working. Once I hit stop Firefox will load as normal but without doing this step it will not load at all. Once it is loaded the toolbar has not been loaded and I am told to reinstall the toolbar but I have not been able to do so.

Iphoto crashes upon opening, how can i fix this?

I was trying to clean out some of the photos in iphoto, it kept crashing.
Then it gave some message and reconfigured itself.
Now it crashes any time I open it - can't view pictures or get rid of them, as it won't open.
What can I do, can I remove it and reinstall it?
If so, then how would I do that - what steps must I follow?

What version of iPhoto? Assuming 09 or later...
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

Roadrunner is POP email, and the feature you are looking for
is a function of IMAP email. Roadrunner has not announced
any plans to make IMAP available. If this is important to you,
get a gmail account (which can be setup as IMAP) and configure

I think I figured out how to fix it-
I found that if I only delete a small amount at the beginning and at the end of the section that I want to remove - and then highlight that section - Then (and only then) does the "Delete and Move" function work to remove the unwanted section and automatically close the gap between the surrounding sections. I was trying to select a whole section and could only delete it - and then manually move it.
Problem solved.

I think you solved my problem! Upon following your advice, I first got a message that I had not allowed a connection to the Tax dept computers, which would prevent the file I need to fill out from being e-filed. I proceeded to then open the file at the top of which was a security banner at which I chose the site as safe. I then filled in the first line of the form which autofilled other lines telling me I was connected with the tax site. In a few days when I have the data I need, I will actually attempt to file the return. If there is a problem, I will send another message. Thanks so much for your assistance!

3. Do you backup your computer (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1427)?
--- If you don't regularly backup your computer, now is the time to start.
4. Do you backup your iPhone (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766)?
Check the calendar list on the left hand side of iCal. Is it that the individual events are duplicated or is it just that you have the same calendar listed more than once? If its that you have more than 1 copy of each calendar, you can delete one of the duplicate calendars to eliminate the duplicates.
If you find that it is the individual events that are duplicated then there are 2 options:
1. Restore your computer iCal database or iPhone from a backup made before the duplication occurred.
2. Use a duplication removal program (or do it by hand) to remove the duplicates: http://www.nhoj.co.uk/icaldupedeleter/
If you have a backup made before the duplication occurred, reply back with what kind of backup you have and I'll suggest how to recover the calendars.
To avoid this issue in the future:
Keep regular backups. They are your best defense against data anomalies which are a fact of life in computers (although hopefully rare).
Keep your computer and iPhone software fully up to date (Apple > Software Update / Settings > General > Software Update).
Make sure the date and time on your computer and iPhone are correct before you sync the two devices.
Make sure the cable connections between the two is solid and that the cable shows no signs of physical damage.
