Update new versions of books in ibook
Is it possible for an author to publish a book via ibooks, Apple book store, and then publish updates to that book say when new information is available or when errors are corrected?
The purchaser should not have to pay for such updates of course.
Often the publisher will distribute errata sheets with books, and even make them available to purchasers. And I agree, it seems possible to permit the owner of an electronic copy to download corrections, perhaps a script to paste in the corrections would be possible.
Electronic publishing is new enough that this may not have been thought through yet. Why not propose this to the publishers of the texts in question? Throw into their court and see if they can offer a solution.

That suggests that the installer is getting damaged during the download.
I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:

If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer? -

Unfortunately, you cannot do very much with your phone unless you get assistance from the previous owner, they should either provide you with the password to unlock it or remove their account from the phone entirely remotely through iCloud.com > Find My Phone. -

I went through all the steps to update new version of Firefox as requested when I went onto internet. But still every time I go onto internet I am advised to update new version - as if it never received my agreement. Two emails from you confirm I have updated. But I cannot get to my regular browser roadrunner without seeing this message. Very annoying. Also changes in options at top of browser, no longer able to print what I see on internet.
If I recall correctly, you are talking about the default start page. To check if this is correct, type '''about:home''' in the awesome bar. If this is the same as your homepage, it will still be there when you update.

Start iTunes on the computer you normally sync with. Connect your phone. Select your phone in iTunes on your computer and select the General tab in iTunes. Then scroll down to check for updates. iTunes will update your phone to the latest version of the iOS that is availablele.

It sounds like your phone is slower than expected. I suggest starting by closing all the running apps on the device:
iOS: Force an app to close

Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that, sign out of your iTunes account in Settings > iTunes and App stores, and restart the phone:

You can go back to the old view with the left-hand sidebar via View > Show Sidebar (if you are on windows then alt-v should show the View drop-down menu) - which is what I'm currently doing as I'm familiar with that way.
Or, on the new view you can click on the library type at the top left and select Apps and then Check For Updates at the bottom right of the screen. When you've downloaded the updates to your computer, click on Library top right to go back to your library view from the store, then select the iPad (top right) and Sync at the bottom right should then copy the updates to your iPad. -
