Update Records with XML

Hi,
I Understand that with XML save you can insert a row into a database however I am very confused about the ability of using XML to update a record.
Can I use XML save to update a record? Eg if I have a primary key will it update instead of save?
Are there any best practices for updating records when passed an XML record?
Many Thanks

A common way to pass data with custom events is to extend the
event class to create a new version which has a reference to a var
of the datatype you are passing, and then in your metadata type the
event to your custom event class. If that makes sense
[Event(name="customEvent", type="events.CustomEvent")]

  • Updating record with check out in Workflow by Import Server

    Hi,
    I have a Workflow starting with "Checkout". During the Workflow, a syndicate is executed, a WebService is called and the response is processed by Import Server.
    The record is not updated because it's u201Ccheckoutedu201D.
    The user that executes the Import Server is the Admin, which have all roles and the u201CAuto-Join checked out recordsu201D parameter is u201Cyesu201D.
    Can I update a record with check out by Import Server? The MDM version is 5.5.64.71
    Thank you,
    Evandro

    Lets start with this....
    1. Auto-Join checkout records -->Yes ; should join the record which is already checkedout as well as in workflow.
    2. Check the [owner] assigned to workflow record that might stop you to AUTO-JOIN this record to exisiting.
    please feel free to revert.
    thanks

  • Update record with check new user

    I have a page where the already registered member can create
    a username and password to access the secure part of my site. I
    need to be able to 1) check for uniqueness of username (no
    duplicates) , 2) validate my fields (password, confirm password,
    email address)
    Is there a way to apply the check new username behavior to
    the update record server behavior I have in place?
    thanks,
    Rob

    In the server behaviors panel with the submit button
    selected, from the (+) button choose User Authentication then Check
    New Username. There you can set uniqueness and requirements. From
    there, on the behaviors panel (not server behaviors), again with
    the submit button selected, select the (+) button and choose
    Validate Form. From there you can set requirements and validations.
    That should at least help.

  • Updating records with 0FISCPER  as 000

    Hi
    We have data coming in from source system with fiscper as 2006000, 2007000.
    Actually this is the balance carried forward into the new year from the previous year.
    But when I try to convert 0FISCPER into 0CALMONTH using a routine, it doesnt allow me to do so throwing up an error which says that month cannot be 00.
    Is there any way tht I can get these records in my cube. I cannot change these records to month 01 or 12 due to business requirements.
    Can I just leave the 0CALMONTH field blank whenever the 0FISCPER has 2006000 or 2007000.
    Is it possible that only 0CALYEAR field gets updated for these records , leaving 0CALMONTH as blank.
    If so, how ?
    Kindly help.

    ashok - 0CALMONTH does not permit any values other than 1-12.
    Teja - we dont want to skip that record. wht I want is just to leave the 0CALMONTH field blank or null for these records while populating all other fields. Your code would skip that whole package which I dont want to do.
    Inputs welcome.
    Thanks

  • Update record with jQuery

    Hi all. I've got a while loop displaying a list of tasks. The form to create the tasks has 3 fields, so this would be the typical input:
    id: 1
    task: buy milk
    status: active
    The while loop containing all the added tasks is displayed on another page. Here's the code:
    I'm trying to modify this code so that when the 'done' button is clicked, the record on that table row posts to a processing page (archiveTask.php) and the record's 'status' is updated to 'inactive' (using the hidden field above with value of 'inactive'). Then the record shouldn't show in the loop any longer as the recordset is only displaying records where status = 'active'.
    Here is the code from archiveTask.php, which should update 'status' to 'inactive'
    I'm a bit new to this - can anyone see where I'm going wrong? Thanks guys, appreciate any help

    1. Read the whole record, manipulate the part needed, and write all of the data back?
    2. Actually read the api docs of setRecord! You can simply update a part of the data by setting the offset and byte count. For this, you'll obviously need to know where the second part of data starts.
    How hard can it be?

  • Update Database with XML

    We update several thousand product prices in our MYSQL
    database daily using an XML feed.
    We can update the database using by looping over the XML and
    updating the database on an item by item basis but that seems
    awfully inefficient.
    Is there a better way?
    Thanks.

    Probably.
    But a more detailed answer is going to depend on what
    database
    management system you are using and what its specific bulk
    loading/updating capabilities are. This may or, most likely,
    may not
    involve ColdFusion at all.

    Sorry, I mistyped the statement, here is the corrected statement:

  • Get error ORA-20505 and ORA-01403 when UPDATING record

    Hi,
    I'm running APEX 3.2.1, on Oracle XE 10.2.0.1, on Sun Ultra20 (Intel-based) running Windows Server 2003.
    I created a small, department database - to keep track of contacts, equipment, etc.
    Initially, I used a NUMBER as the PRIMARY KEY in both the CONTACTS table and EQUIPMENT tables. I created a CONTACTS interactive report and a CONTACT DETAILS form, where the EDIT button on a row in the CONTACTS report brings up the individual record to modify. Same thing for EQUIPMENT - interactive report page and form page.
    This all worked fine!
    Then, I decided to change the PRIMARY KEY for the CONTACTS table to a STRING - with CONTACT_FIRST_NAME and CONTACT_LAST_NAME as the primary key. I figured I this would prevent duplicate entries. After the change, inserts work. Updates work, IF a change is made to ANY field EXCEPT first name or last name.
    UPDATES fail - if user modifies EITHER the first name or last name - in APEX. But, update SUCCEEDS if done in SQL Developer. Obviously, I missing a subtle nuance in APEX, but I can't figure it out.
    I've included DEBUG trace and version information below.
    Thanks,
    Andy

    Maybe because you're changing primary key...and then updating record with primary key that doesn't exist.

  • Mapping problem with compressed key update record

    Hi, could you please advise?
    I'm getting the following problem:
    About a week ago replicat abened with "Error in mapping" error. I found in discard file some record looking like:
    filed1 = NULL
    field2 =
    field3 =
    field4 =
    field5 =
    datefield = -04-09 00:00:00
    field6 =
    field8 =
    field9 = NULL
    field10 =
    Where filed9 = @GETENV("GGHEADER", "COMMITTIMESTAM"), field10 = = @GETENV("GGHEADER", "COMMITTIMESTAM"), others are table fields mapped by USEDEFAULTS
    So I got Mapping problem with compressed key update record at 2012-06-01 15:44
    I guess I need to mention that extract failed in 5 minuts before it with: VAM function VAMRead returned unexpected result: error 600 - VAM Client Report <[CFileInfo::Read] Timeout expired after 10 retries with 1000 ms delay, waiting to read transaction log or backup files. To increase the number of retries, use SETENV (GGS_CacheRetryCount = n) in Extract parameter file. To control retry delay time, use SETENV (GGS_CacheRetryDelay = n). handle: 0000000000000398 ReadFile GetLastError:997 Wait GetLastError:997>.
    I don't know if it has ther same source as data corruption, could you tell me if it is?
    Well, I created new extract, starting 2012-06-01 15:30 to check if there was something with extract at the time, but got the same error.
    If I run extract beging at 15:52 it starts and works.
    But well, I got another one today. Data didn't look that bad, but yet one column came with null value:( And I'm using it as a key column, so I got Mapping problem with compressed key update record again:(
    I'm replicating from SQL Server 2008 to Oracle 11g.
    I'm actually using NOCOMPRESSUPDATES in Extract.
    CDC is enabled for all tables replicated. The only thing is that it is enabled not by ADD TRANDATA command, but by SQL Server sys.sp_cdc_enable_table, does it matter?
    Could you please advise why does it happen?

    Well, the problem begins somewhere in extract or before extract, may be in transaction log, I don't know:(

    Regards,
    Manish

    The SCRP_CODE column has a NOT NULL constraint. The ORA-01407 error is telling you that you cannot update or set a value for this column to null because of the constraint. This has absolutely nothing to do with an index. You can use a marker/sentinel value in lieu of using NULL. For a numeric field, where everything is positive, a negative value (-1) can be decoded as meaning null. For a character field, a code such as NA can represent NULL.
    This also has nothing to do (directly) with GoldenGate failing because of this error. The underlying SQL statement will fail everywhere, regardless of the tool or application. It is not a case of failing only in GoldenGate.

  • Updating a record with an enabled control

    i need to implement enabled controls like text area with the following javascript :
    document.forms[0].elements.disabled= false;
    it works well but when i update records in a form, it always displays an error message from internet explorer: HTTP 404 impossible to find the page .
    what can i do ?

    Yes, you can extend the AbstractTableModel and write a method for updating a whole block.
    lets say you've got a Vector with Float[] arrays as elements to hold a 2D array of Float. The you could write:
          TableModel dataModel = new AbstractTableModel() {
                public int getColumnCount() { return col_names.size(); }
                public int getRowCount() { return data.size();}
                public Object getValueAt(int row, int col) {
                   return ((Float)((Float[])data.elementAt(row))[col]).toString();
                public String getColumnName(int col) {
                 return ((String)col_names.elementAt(col));
                public Class getColumnClass(int col) {
                 return String.class;
                public boolean isCellEditable(int row, int col) {
                  return true;
                public void setValueAt(Object aValue, int row, int col) {
                   try {
                     Float fv = Float.valueOf((String)aValue);
                    ((Float[])data.elementAt(row))[col] = fv;
                   } catch (Exception ex) {
                public void setBlock(Float block[][], int row, int col) {
                   // copy the Arrays with System.arrayCopy into data
          };PS: I don't know, if the above is correct written, havn't test this. But I hope you can recognize the idea behind it.

  • Problem with update record, then link to file

    Environment:
    Dreamweaver 8, MySQL, PHP.
    I have a repeating record from my database. I added an Update
    Record server behavior for each search result for the result table.
    I added a button to the form and changed "submit" to "view".
    Pressing "view" is supposed to allow the user to view the detailed
    record information.
    The Update Record server behavior is supposed to do two
    things:
    1) add 1 to the 'numViews' filed of the record's database
    entry when the "view" button is pressed
    2) After updating the numViews field, the form is supposed to
    redirect the user to the detailed record
    I found that depending on how I create the record, I an do
    one of the above 2 behaviors, but not both. HELP!
    To add 1 to the numViews field, I created a form variable
    called incNumViews, which does the following:
    <?php echo $row_rsSearchResults['recipeNumViews']+1; ?>
    Very simple.
    The Update Record ends up changing the form action to the
    following:
    <?php echo $editFormAction; ?>
    Looking at the code for this, I ee the following:
    $editFormAction = $_SERVER['PHP_SELF'];
    if (isset($_SERVER['QUERY_STRING'])) {
    $editFormAction .= "?" .
    htmlentities($_SERVER['QUERY_STRING']);
    But when the "view" (ie: submit" button for the form is
    pressed, I get redirected back to the same repeating record search
    result page, not to the record detail page.
    However, the numViews field in the record is getting properly
    incremented.
    I tried to get around this by changing the Update Record
    behavior "After updating, go to:" field to point to the record
    detail page, and tried passing a parameter tot he recordID I want
    to see details of, as a URL parameter, but that does not work.
    If I change the Update Record form action from
    <?php echo $editFormAction; ?>
    to
    record_detail.php?recordID=<?php echo
    $row_rsSearchResults['recordID']; ?>
    Then I am able to link to the detail page, but NOT update the
    numViews field.
    HOW can I fix this to both update the record, then jump to
    the detail page with a URL parameter being passed, when I click the
    "view" (submit) button o the form??
    Thanks in advance.

    If the user's computer doesn't know what to do with a TIFF file, I guess that Open button would be missing.  Tiff is not a web normal file format, or even a common one for graphics applications....
