Update the record after insert

Hi All,
We have a requirement in Oracle Forms where the user should be able to insert the data into the custom table through the form. Once the user enters the data and does ‘Ctrl+S’, the record is saved in the database. After this if he has changed any of the details entered in record that is inserted(without refreshing the form) and does ‘Ctrl+S’, then a message is shown as per the standard form that the record is applied and saved. But the changes are not saved in the database.
If anyone has worked on the similar requirement then please let us know how to implement this in Oracle Forms.
Immediate help will be highly appreciated.

Change the target of the branch defined in the page that has your form to point to itself.
Delete the 'reset page' page process defined on the form page.

i think after executing a procedure you want to call commit operation. better you can perform this.getDbtransaction().commit In Application Module;yes i want to commit transaction after executing back end procedure using preparedStatement.Procedure is for inserting data into same table , which used for creating VO and Read only ADF Table.Procedure is executed fine, but newly created records are not getting into ADF table.Once i did commit opeartion inside back end procedure, whole records are getting into ADF Table.
Is there any way to get whole records without doing Commit operation inside Back end procedure?

Fisrtly, I would like to explain about my problem. I updated the iTunes after that, when I connect with USB. It is saying, there is no SIM card installed the iPhone you are attempting to active.
And next message says, please disconnect and insert a SIM card in the iPhone, but I tried by different SIM cards.
The slit is ok as well; I think something wrong with this iTunes I updated, because this is not my first time.

hi you can create transient field in view object indicate to visibility of row (boolean ) and create view criteria that show only rows that are able to be visible according to transient attribute and at the update process set the attribute to true inside entityImpl class

I have a base template (which has never been sysprep'd) from which I create linked clones. After the linked clone comes up, I run the following command:

This works fine for the first few linked clones, but after about 3-4 linked clones are running, I start to hit "A fatal error occurred while trying to sysprep the machine."

This is typical of an OEM license issue.
To avoid this in the future you should look at site/volume licensing.
Anyway.
so, first check if you can re-arm by runing the
slmgr.vbs /dlv and check the re-arm counter, if it set to zero.. you need to do the following :
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929828 (set the <SkipRearm>1</SkipRearm> like in the example, note: this option will make the product key window to appear in the setup process).
you can also try running : slmgr.vbs -rearm, to rearm Windows.
after that, let's come back to the sysprep process.. for syspreping already syspreped machine we have to change few keys in the registry :

Start -> Run : msdtc -uninstall (wait few seconds)
Start -> Run : msdtc -install (wait few seconds)
Restart the machine
Check the registry for the right registry keys values
sysprep with the new XML answerfile.

Why can't I select or update the Record using the PreparedStatement?

the DB is oracle9i,here is the test table

I doubt it works "well" in either case since you are inserting a string that is longer than 10 characters into a field that only holds 10 characters. But to your question....
A char data type holds a fixed number of characters - in your case 10.
Because it holds 10 characters it will never hold 9, regardless of what you think is in the field it will always have 10 characters in it. The value you are using for query for name is 9 characters. Since 9 characters, regardless of content, will never be equal to 10 characters there is no way that it will update.
So your choice is to either use a varchar, which holds a variable number of characters, or to always use 10 characters for your query (pad it with spaces.)

Updating the records problem urgent

i have developed search page by using the query region. in that i have created update image icon to navigate update page to update the records. i have 4 search records, when i click the go button 4 records are come to the advance table. i will select any one of the row and select update icon to update the records by using the apply button in update page.when i click the apply button its navigate to the search page and showing only updated records row only. i did not get all 4 rows in advancetable.I re-query on the page, but I can’t get the other 3 rows back unless I close the page and come back in.
here i am not facing any error, after update the records and come back to the main page i am not getting all records only updated row records Only 1 of the four rows only appear.
can any one help me its urgent

This error does not come from your procedure code, but from Forms itself. If you are in a database block, change something, and do a commit (either via a Forms key or in your own procedure), Forms commits the changes. For some reason this is not possible. You can see the database error via the Display Error key (often Shift-F1).
I see in the OP that this key is disabled. Change the on-error code then:

How to retrieve the id of the record just inserted

I am using a database trigger (Before_Insert) to populate the primary key with a db sequence. Is there a way to retrieve the primary key of the record just inserted? Any API? I am using JDeveloper10g ADF/JSP.

YOu may get the attribute from the row by calling getAttribute() api or bind a bindingObject and fetch this value via a control binding so that you could pass an el-expression to the next page for it to setup parameters for the next page.
Alternatively you may setup a viewlink between two viewobjects in the ADFBC model and let ADFBC pass the right value automatically when you access the second Viewobject from the second page after having posted the data from the first.

How to update the record in a File (without closing Writer)?

Well i've got one issue:
I want my program to record in a file updating any time i.e the records are added in append.
But i want the record must be done in a file even if the Writer is not closed because I'd like to see the all logs of user and the main thing is sometimes there could be issue of software crash, powercut off or any So for that reason i 've made code like this but it doesn't update but it only override:

i have created message and ran the concurent programme of generate message in 11i, after that i have called that message name into jdeveloper. message is displaying correctly. i am trying to update the message which i have created and again ran the concurent programme. but updated message is not reflected. its shwing old message.
Can't we update the mesages after ceated messages in oracle apps 11i? if so what is the process.

Kindly check in AOL and confirm that the message is changed. Also make sure the Jdeveloper code refers to the message code and the language for which the message text is set correctly. Thereafter delete the myclasses file and run the code again. Updated message should be shown.

Why should we create index on the table after inserting data ?

Please tell me the Reason, why should we create index on the table after inserting data .
while we can also create index on the table before insertion of the data.

The choice depends on a number of factors, the main being how many rows are going to be inserted in the table as a percentage of the existing rows, or the percentage growth.
Creating index after a table has been populated works better when the tables are large or the inserts are large for the following reasons
1. The sort and creation of index is more efficient when done in batch and written in bulk. So works faster.
2. When the index is being written blocks get acquired as more data gets written. So, when a large number of rows get inserted in a table that already has an index , the index data blocks start splitting / chaining. This increases the "depth" of the inverted b-tree makes and that makes the index less efficient on I/O. Creating index after data has been inserted allows Orale to create optical block distribution/ reduce splitting / chaining
3. If an index exists then it too is routed through the undo / redo processes. Thats an overhead which is avoided when you create index after populating the table.

See browser is client-side and not server-side. If at all you need to update any record shown in the browser means, it can only be done using javascript or vbscript. But it won't gets reflected in the database unless you do it in server-side.

no, the backlight works. it's the display that doesn't. it had the problem even before i took it somewhere. also, it says the IMEI is invalid, because the phone isn't on it's network anymore. i was going to unlock it, but since the screen isn't working, i can't do that.
