Update values for additional (new) keyfield in database table

Hi All,
Here in our firm we have a Z table with data in it. As part of the new requirement I had to add a new key field in it.
Now I have to maintain values for these key fields in the already existing data.
I cannot maintain it though SM30 as the maintenance view grays that field in SM30.
Is there any way of updating this new key field data in database.
Thanks,
Kajal

Hello Rob,
thank you for this information. Up to now, I thougth, that it is impossible to update the primary key. I've checked it in our system and it works. But it seems, that you have to use the "update set" to update a field of the primary key - am I correct?
@Kajal,
I've created a table:
Field      Key Data element
MANDT  X     MANDT
MATNR  X     MATNR
MAKTX         MAKTX
Then I've tried the following coding:
data: wa_test type zithtest.
select single * from zithtest into wa_test.
move: 'DE' to wa_test-spras.
update zithtest from wa_test.
write: sy-subrc.
select * from zithtest into wa_test.
  write: / wa_test.
endselect.
result: sy-subrc = 4 and no update of the primary key
Then I've tried the following:
data: wa_test type zithtest.
select single * from zithtest into wa_test.
move: 'DE' to wa_test-spras.
update zithtest set spras = wa_test-spras
                where matnr eq wa_test-matnr.
write: sy-subrc.
select * from zithtest into wa_test.
  write: / wa_test.
endselect.
Result: sy-subrc = 0 and the primary key has been updated.
By the way - reward points to Rob, as he has given the correct solution.
Best regards
Stephan

    we have '20015' material
    for doc1 (vbeln) -- A qty 5
    B qty 5
    C qty 0
    for doc2 (vbeln) A qty 2
    C qty 5
    B qty 0
    But after delivery we want to change the distribution of stock material like .
    for doc1 A qty 2
    B qty 3
    C qty 5
    and for doc2 A qty 5
    B qty 2

    i create one programe and check the availabity in mska table n give input field to reorder the batch n quantity but how should i send these values in mska table so that sap will show the correct availabity of stock batch wise.
    if somebody did it before. through ur input please .
    Thanks.

    Hi sutar,
    Seems it is not WD related Question.
    You are updating two tables here, but not updating in Database. check two tables how they are related.
    and mysuggestion is try to update thease two tables by using code in se38. you will get where the problem is.
    Cheers,

    Debug the standard code and see where the other fields are getting update. you can use the similar approach and area to code for the new field.

  • Add a new record in database table without using table maintance generator

    Hi Expart ,
                  Plz. tell me how to add new record in database table without using table maintance ganerator ....give me one ex.
    Regards
    Bhabani

    Hi,
    The other way to safely handle the modification of tables is through is by programs that can be done with SE38 or SE80.
    To insert into database table we use INSERT statement :
    1. To insert a single line into a database table, use the following:
    INSERT INTO <target> VALUES <wa>.
    INSERT <target> FROM <wa>.
    2. To insert a several lines into a database table, use the following:
    INSERT <target> FROM TABLE <itaba>.
    Or even we can use MODIFY statementas this single statement is used to insert as well as update the records of database table.
    MODIFY <target> FROM <wa>.
    or MODIFY <target> FROM TABLE <itab>.
    thanx.

  • Inserting new records into database table at runtime

    Hi all ,
    How to insert new records into database table at runtime on click update?
    Thanks.

    Hi Sasikala,
    Just for your understanding am giving a sample code snippet which you can use to read the contents of your Table UI element & save the data on to your database. Suppose you have a button up on pressing which you want to read the data from your screens table & save on to the database then you can proceed as shown below:
    1) Obtain the reference of your context node.
    2) Fetch all the data present in your table into an internal table using methods of if_wd_context_node
    3) Use your normal ABAP logic to update the database table with the data from your internal table
    In my example I have a node by name SFLIGHT_NODE and under this I have the desired attributes from SFLIGHT. Am displaying these in an editable table & the user would press up on a push button after making the necessary changes to the tables data. I would then need to obtain the tables information & save on to the database.
    data: node_sflight           type ref to if_wd_context_node,
            elem_sflight           type ref to if_wd_context_element,
            lt_elements            type WDR_CONTEXT_ELEMENT_SET,
           stru_sflight           type if_main=>element_sflight_node,
           it_flights             type if_main=>elements_sflight_node.
    "   navigate from <CONTEXT> to <SFLIGHT_NODE> via lead selection
        node_sflight_node = wd_context->get_child_node( name = 'SFLIGHT_NODE'  ).
       lt_elements = node_sflight->get_elements( ).
    "   Get all the rows from the table for saving on to the database
        loop at lt_elements into elem_sflight.
          elem_sflight->get_static_attributes( importing static_attributes = stru_sflight ).
          append stru_sflight to it_flights.
        endloop.
    " Finally save the entries on to the database
        modify ZSFLIGHT99 from table it_flights.
        if sy-subrc eq 0.
    endif.
    However a word of caution here.... SAP doesn't ever recommend directly modifying the database through an SQL query. You would preferably make use of a BAPI for the same. Try go through Thomas Jung's comments in [here|modify the data base table which is comming dynamiclly;.

  • Extracting Values of a Field from a Database Table in SAP ECC System

    Hi,
    I downloaded Extracting Values of a Field from a Database Table in SAP ECC System Using MII 12.0
    senario from sdn. I'm trying to do that senario in MII 12.05. But I have problem with section 6 in page 7 (you can supply senario from sdn)
    "6- Under the loop of Repeater, use action u2018Rowu2019 to append just the string part of the WA which will display only values for field u2018Batchu2019"
    I did not find WA elemen in Output element of Repeater_0
    How can I create WA element?
    Thanks.

    Cemil,
    Set up a SAP JCo Interface action block.  Use the RFC name RFC_READ_TABLE.
    In the link editor map the table to "MARA", set RowCount to something small (20 is good sample size) and create an xml transaction property named FIELDS and copy the following into it:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><FIELDS>
          <item>
            <FIELDNAME>MATNR</FIELDNAME>
            <OFFSET/>
            <LENGTH/>
            <TYPE/>
            <FIELDTEXT/>
          </item>
          <item>
            <FIELDNAME>MTART</FIELDNAME>
            <OFFSET/>
            <LENGTH/>
            <TYPE/>
            <FIELDTEXT/>
          </item>
          <item>
            <FIELDNAME>BSTME</FIELDNAME>
            <OFFSET/>
            <LENGTH/>
            <TYPE/>
            <FIELDTEXT/>
          </item>
          <item>
            <FIELDNAME>XCHPF</FIELDNAME>
            <OFFSET/>
            <LENGTH/>
            <TYPE/>
            <FIELDTEXT/>
          </item>
          <item>
            <FIELDNAME>DATAB</FIELDNAME>
            <OFFSET/>
            <LENGTH/>
            <TYPE/>
            <FIELDTEXT/>
          </item>
        </FIELDS>
    Then link the Transaction.FIELDS to SAP_JCo_Interface_0.Request{/RFC_READ_TABLE/TABLES/FIELDS}.  You may run into problems with two other fields and optionally they can be removed (set link type to remove xml).  I usually remove them initially for testing.  The two fields are:
    SAP_JCo_Interface_0.Request{/RFC_READ_TABLE/INPUT/NO_DATA}
    SAP_JCo_Interface_0.Request{/RFC_READ_TABLE/INPUT/DELIMITER} (or you can set this to something like a semicolon,";" or tilda,"~".  I find it easier to caclulate position by length, but that is my own idiosyncrasy.)
    Once you get this one working, we can explore how to do filtering on the dataset.  Your output should be something like this:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <RFC_READ_TABLE>
      <INPUT>
        <DELIMITER />
        <NO_DATA />
        <QUERY_TABLE>MARA</QUERY_TABLE>
        <ROWCOUNT>20</ROWCOUNT>
        <ROWSKIPS>0</ROWSKIPS>
      </INPUT>

    Add a repeater sourced on:
    SAP_JCo_Interface_0.Response{/RFC_READ_TABLE/TABLES/DATA/item}
    Link your repeater output to a tracer with this:
    Repeater_0.Output{/item/WA}
    What you will see in each tracer message is a single line of data with all the fields contents concatenated together.  You can look up what each field in the string represents by the length of the field as returned in the Response segment of the RFC_READ_TABLE rfc.  Then you can parse out the data you are interested in.
    Give this a try and let me know how you succeeded.
    By the way, I could not find the scenario you referred to.  Can you post a link?

  • How to tracke the new entries in database table ?

    Hi,
    How to tracke the new entries in database table ? is there any FM or report is there to check it ?
    regards
    vishnu

    Hi Vishnu,
    u can write a report program for this and in that use the event  :
    AT NEW <field-name> ( use primary key)
    your statements
    ENDAT
    for eg.
    loop at itab ( herfe itab must be of type of table for which u want to track new entries)
    at new matnr
    write:/ new record
    endat
    endloop.
    schedule this report in background to run in every 5 or 10 mins as per your requirement and hence changes can be tracked.

  • Using Calc Manager to update values for Members with Text Data Type

    Hi All,
    In my outline I have a member of text data type. The purpose is to allow users to be able to enter comments.
    Each line item is created through a business rule and I am prompting the user to enter the key values at the launch of the calc manager rules. I want to be able to prompt the user for the comments in the calc manager rule because I know that it supports variables of type string. However I am unable to assign this string variable directly to the member.
    I appreciate that essbase only stores numeric data and that all text data type members really store numeric values which are basically the id's of the text string stored in a relational table by planning. however I cannot update the database table through calc manager and then bring in the generated id. Is there any way I can do this?
    I don't want to skip this field in the calc manager rule and expect the user to enter the comments AFTER the line item has been created because the users want this to be a mandatory field and insist that a new line item not be created unless comments are specified.
    Many thanks in advance for any help I can get.
    Shehzad

    If the comments are a set definition you could you smart lists in your planning forms.
    create this in your smart list
    xxxx = 1
    yyyy = 2

  • How to insert / Update value for PFAKT in BP Relationship

    Hi Friends / Experts,
    How to insert the value for PFAKT ( Function value ) in BP Relationship in BP tcode , in SAP CRM.
    I have tried it but it BAPI_BUPR_CONTP_CREATE. But I need it with BAPI_BUPR_RELATIONSHIP_CREATE Function Module.
    Please help me out.
    Any Enhancement points in BAPI_BUPR_RELATIONSHIP_CREATE or any user exists. Please let me know.
    Regards,
    KMF.

    you can also acheive this using MERGE( available in sql 2008 and above).
    also, you are referring to DTS. DTS is legacy solution now..are you using sql 2000,  you can use ssis, if you want and it available in sql 2005. as said, there are multiple ways you can do this.. it find the below one a easy solution, since your are
    talking about only one table..
    try this example..
    create table test1(sno int primary key,sname varchar(20),scity varchar(20))
    go
    create table test2(sno int primary key,sname varchar(20),scity varchar(20))
    go
    insert into test1
    values(1,'stan','atlanta'),(2,'william','newyork')
    go
    insert into test2
    values(1,'robin','orlando')
    go
    --set this in you sql job and let it run for every half an hour
    MERGE test2 t2
    USING test1 t1
    ON t2.sno = t1.sno
    WHEN MATCHED THEN
    UPDATE
    SET t2.sname = t1.sname,t2.scity=t1.scity
    WHEN NOT MATCHED by target THEN
    Insert(sno,sname,scity)
    values (sno,sname,scity);
    go
    --check this table and clean up
    select * from test2
    go
    drop table test1
    go
    drop table test2
    Hope it Helps!!

  • Create values for analogous periods in the same table with DS

    Hi,
    in the course of a pilot we want to create additional columns with data for analogous periods.
    We have values for a month and need to create new columns for values for last month and last year in order to compare.
    Attached youu2019ll find a few sample rows resembling the basic concept of what we have
    Region     Country     Year     Month     Value
    Europe     Spain     2009     1     285
    Europe     Spain     2009     2     129
    Europe     Spain     2009     3     153
    Europe     Spain     2008     1     288
    Europe     Spain     2008     2     284
    Europe     Spain     2008     3     125
    Europe     France     2009     1     135
    Europe     France     2009     2     125
    Europe     France     2009     3     284
    Europe     France     2008     1     208
    Europe     France     2008     2     221
    Europe     France     2008     3     220
    In this case, new columns would be
    LastMonth (125 for Spain month 1 year 2009, since this is the value for month 3 year 2008)
    LastYear (288 for Spain month 1 year 2009, since this is the value for month 1 year 2008).
    Can you help on what function to use in the DS query transformation?
    thanks everybody, and enjoy!

    Hi David,
    Probably the easiest way of resolving this would be to add extra columns which show the projected date each row should be shown on e.g.
    Region     Country     Year     Month     Value     LM_Year     LM_Month     LY_Year     LY_Month
    Europe     France     2008     1     208     2008     2     2009     1
    Europe     France     2008     2     221     2008     3     2009     2
    Europe     France     2008     3     220     2008     4     2009     3
    Europe     France     2009     1     135     2009     2     2010     1
    Europe     France     2009     2     125     2009     3     2010     2
    Europe     France     2009     3     284     2009     4     2010     3
    This would be written to a staging table then used as a source with the original source file to produce the target table. I've illustrated an example of how this could be achieved below:
    Create two dataflows; DF 1 and 2.
    In DF 1 read source, add additional columns to show the date (year, month, etc) this should be projected as. This would need to be done for both the last month and last year. Load staging table.
    In DF 2 Read the source and outer join to the new staging table twice. Use the region, Country, Year, Month, to join and use the new additional projected date columns. Ensure the last month date fields are used on one staging table and last year date fields are used on the next staging table. The value from the two staging tables is then used in the last month and last year value.
    Load into target table.
    To calculate the projected date columns you would probably want to format the source fields into a date then add the required number of months. e.g. to_date('01' || month || year, 'DDMMYYYY') + 12
    Obviously this would need the stage table to be truncated before each load and you would need to assess your load strategy. When doing these calculated fields if you have any retrospective updates on the source then these would then need recalculating, therefore this assumes it's a complete reload each time.

    Row initialization not required , you have get the exact row in update page and in ProcessFromRequest of your controller class
    you can call the method which is defined in AM to Commit the updated values .
    Code :
    In PFR
    if(pageContext.getParameter("Upate") != null)
    am.invokeMethod("UpdatePacelineLayout");
    In AmImpl
    public void UpdatePacelineLayout()
    getTransaction().commit();
    throw new OAException("Record Updated Successfully", OAException.INFORMATION);

  • ADF Faces: How do I set values for input controls in an af:table

    Use case: user enters master/detail information into an input form using an af:table for the desired number of detail rows.
    I have an ADF Faces input form with master level input controls, and an af:table (bound to a backing bean CoreTable) for the detail data set.
    The input controls are value bound to updateable view objects built from entity objects, with the appropriate view links providing master/detail iterators.
    Once the user has entered the master keys (via inputTexts, and selectOneChoices), I create a row in the detail VO, thus creating a visible blank row in the af:table.
    The user then completes the key for the detail row (in the af:table) by selecting a value in a selectOneChoice (in a af:column) with autoSubmit on and a valueChangeListener that sets the VO row attribute with the new value.
    The user then continues to enter into the remaining inputTexts and selectOneChoices in the af:columns until all values have been entered.
    I do not have autoSubmit on for any input controls in the af:columns other than the key, for performance improvement.
    The user can then use a command button (which has an action method) to create another row in the af:table.
    But, (in the action method) I need to set the values for the 1st detail VO row attributes, from the input controls, before creating another row.
    The input controls are bound to backing bean CoreInputText and CoreSelectOneChoice objects, and they have not set their values at this point, even though I have partialSubmit on for the "New Row" command button.
    I do not value bind the input controls in the af:columns to the backing bean objects, because we need to display data for all rows entered into the af:table.
    Any advice on the best way to perform this operation would be very appreciated!!!!

    Thanks for the reply Steve!!
    Yes, I followed the techniques in Screencast#7, and it works great in my edit page.
    But I am having problems with my input form.
    I actually have master/detail/detail relationship for which I am creating an input form.
    I created the input form as a copy of the edit form, and am making revisions as necessary.
    I created new view objects for the input form (from my three entity objects), which have the "Tuning" set to retrieve "No Rows (i.e. used only for inserting new rows)"
    I added an invokeAction that binds the "CreateInsert" action on the master iterator, so when the page is first displayed, the master level controls are available for data entry (as in 13.6.2 in the Developers Guide): but the first level detail controls are not rendered, and the af:table (for the second level detail) is rendered but with no rows.
    Once the user enters key values for the master (a three part key), I manually create a first level detail row by executing the "CreateInsert" action binding for the first level detail iterator.
    Continuing on, the user then enters a key value for the first level detail I manually create a second level detail row using it's "CreateInsert" action binding.
    Now the user has a form with all master and first level detail controls completed and one empty row in the af:table for it's first entry.
    The key column in the af:table has autoSubmit on, and an value change listener. That listener uses it's getNewValue() to set the key value ("locationCode" in this case) using
    setLocationCode from the ViewRowImpl. Here is that value change listener:
    public void locationChanged(ValueChangeEvent event) {
    if (null != event.getNewValue()) {
    LocObsCreateViewRowImpl locCreateRow = (LocObsCreateViewRowImpl)appMod.findViewObject("LocObsCreateView").getCurrentRow();
    if (null == locCreateRow.getLocationCode()) {
    locCreateRow.setLocationCode(event.getNewValue().toString());
    Now comes my problem: once they have entered the values in the remaining columns, they can use a command button to create another row in the 2nd detail iterator, thus creating another visible empty row in the af:table. But the values from the first row (other than the key column) are not assigned to the row in the collection and I can't figure out how to set values in the collection's row.
    I imagine I'm missing something using bindings and the Request Processing Lifecycle, and after reading this I can see how much manual work is going on.
    The users have specified the need to have all information available on one page, so I've designed it so they can insert and iterate through the first level detail collection.
    They have also asked to not use the mouse; they are looking for a "heads-down-data-entry" system.
    Again, I really appreciate any advice you could give.

  • Populate Values for Drop Down by Index in Table in Web Dynpro Java

    Hi Experts,
    I have a table and having a column table cell editor as Drop Down by Index.
    I have created the table node (tbnode) and child node for DDBI (ddbinode) and set the singleton property for DDBI node to false.
    I have same local variable node as same as above node and the values are available.
    I have one button ADD.On click the add button i need to populate the values to table node and as well as DDBI Node.
    I created supply function for DDBI node and populate the values for DDBI Node.
    Add Method:
    IPrivateMdTest8CompView.ItbnodeElement tbnode = wdContext.nodetbnode().createtbnodeElement();
    tbnode.setDescription(wdContext.currentCn_LocalVariableElement().getDescription);
    wdContext.nodetbnode().addElement(tbnode);
    Supply Function Method:
    for(int j=0;j<wdContext.nodetbnode().size();j++)
    wdContext.nodeddbinode().setLeadSelection(j);
    IPrivateMdTest8CompView.IddbinodeElement ddbinode = wdContext.nodeddbinode().createddbinodeElement();
    ddbinode.setddvalue(wdContext.currentCn_localddvalueElement().getddvalue);
    wdContext.nodeddbinode().addElement(ddbinode);
    Problem is one i got the values in the drop down and i click the second row in table again the supply function calls and reset the first row drop down to original value.
    If you any problem like please provide the solution.
    Thanks & Regards,
    SatheshKumar R

    If you created the supply method by setting the supply property of the node, you should have variable 'node' available as argument of the supply method, which will be related to the table row of the triggered dropdown. Opening the dropdown does not change the lead selection of the parent node, so
    ddbinode = wdContext.nodeddbinode().createddbinodeElement();
    wdContext.nodeddbinode().addElement(ddbinode);
    does always relate to the first row of the table (given that leadSelection == 0). With the node variable you can
    IddbinodeElement ddbiElement = node.createddbinodeElement();
    node.addElement(ddbiElement);

  • How to bind values for input parameters from an adf table?

    Hi,
    The version I am using is
    Jdev TP4 11.1.1.0.0
    I need to know how to bind values for input parameters to methods.
    I have created an af:table and I have a button created using a method which is outside the af:table. This method needs to take input parameter values from the column values in the table.
    When I have an adf form instead of the table the binding works.
    Any help?
    Thanks.

    Hi Balaji,
    you need to bind you table to a backing bean and call a method in the backing bean when you hit the button. In the method you get the selected row from the table and have access to the columns of it. Then call the the method with the parameters.
    To bind the table to a bean select the properties of the table, go to behavior section and look for the advanced section 'Binding' property.
    Select the small down arrow at the right side and click edit. In the dialog select or create a bean and property for the table.
    Go to the button properties, look for 'Action', again select the small down arrow and click 'Edit'. Select the bean which holds the table property and create a method for the button.
    The method look like    public void bearbeitenQuelle(ActionEvent actionEvent)
            // Add event code here...
            RichTable lTable = getYourTable();
            Object lData = lTable.getSelectedRowData();
            FacesCtrlHierNodeBinding lNB = (FacesCtrlHierNodeBinding) lData;
            YourViewRow lRow = (YourViewRow ) lNB.getCurrentRow();
        }Hope the get you started
