Update workflow variable in a form associated to manual action

I have a view called userfind in my workflow,
I pass this view to a search form, in this form I would like to update
this view.
I am passing this view object as variable to the manual form.
In my form I am trying to update this object as follows
<Field name='variables.userfind.query'>
<ref>query</ref>
</Field>
User find object is correctly updated when this block of code is executed, but when the control goes out of the form (back to the 'action' that calls this form) I dont see the updated value. The value of userfind.query is same as before (i.e. before it was updated in the form).
Why isn't the updation visible outside the form?
Thanks in advance!

very good question !
I'm working on something similar and wondering about form field variables in general.
Generally it looks like form fieldnames correspond with userview attribute and editing the field, edits the view directly so it is ready for CheckIn.
I'd also like to know if this methodology applies to other views and WorkItem views which may contain general workflow variables. If so, I assume they can be editable by the form if the fieldname is the same as the var name.

  • How to access Workflow variables in Form Designer?

    Hello,
    I am wanting to set certain subforms to readonly depending on which part of the workflow the form is currently on. I already have the JavaScript code working to set the subform fields to readonly, but now I cannot figure out how to trigger this and where do I keep a variable to keep track of which part of the workflow I am currently in.
    I assume I will have a variable in the workflow itself and then I can use the Set Value QPAC to change the variable for each workflow step before it goes to the User QPAC, but what about within the form? I don't understand how the form javascript will know to execute, so how does my workflow "talk" to the form to set these fields to readonly?
    Right now the JavaScript code is sitting in the root::initialize part of the form. I was assuming I could have something like "if my workflow variable is equal to XX then set this subform to read only". But, how do I access my workflow variable in the form designer?
    Also, since I have digital signatures, I am having to pass all the form data in document variables, will this affect how I need to do this? I was also thinking of possibly accessing/setting a hidden field in the form, but thought the above way may be better.
    I hope that made sense!
    Thank you,
    Jennifer

    To follow-up, I spoke with Adobe support this morning and they said that I cannot access Workflow variables within Designer (besides those Workflow variables that are already provided).
    He mentioned that if I use the hidden fields, that I would need to Render the form each time before going to the User to trigger this to happen. So, I am not sure what I will do just yet. I probably not worry about making the fields readonly for the time being; it was a little extra thought I had and isn't required for our process.
    Thank you,
    Jennifer

  • Cannot perform insert/update on tabular form, because of dynamic action

    Hello all,
    I have created dynamic action which computes value from several tabular form cells.
    This functionality works nice, when I change value in associated cell then the computed value is changed by the dynamic action.
    But I am not able to insert or update the row in tabular form when the dynamic action is enabled. When I set condition to "Never", then the row is inserted or updated without any problems.
    Any guess where is the problem?

    here I want to set computed value from hidden field to VOLUME cell in tabular form. And it seems there is some problem, because not only the corresponding VOLUME cell is changed, but also several other cells. I realized that also several cells which are hidden to user has same value as computed VOLUME field. Including ROWID and then the insert/update operations are not done.
    // find the VOLUME-Field and set it to the computed value
    jQuery(this.triggeringElement).parents("tr:first").find("td[headers='VOLUME'] input").val($v("P210_HIDDEN_VOLUME"));I hope I have provide more information and somebody will be able to he help me. maybe the problem is clear, but with my poor jQuery knowledge i am not able to find it.
    Thanks in advance!

  • 11g Updating instance variable

    How do update instance variable at runtime. e.g say my workflow instance wating at 'InProcess' HumanTask with instance variable wrkStatus='IP'..now with out executing the HT how can we update the 'wrkStatus' variable to 'IR'....?
    NOTE : in 10g we can do that using global interactive with instance access....but i have no idea abt 11g :(
    Rgds,
    Biltu

    Thanks for your reply Mariano.
    But that will be before the Token reaches to my Human task....we can do that..using association.....
    But my doubt is different..lets assume i have moved to my human task ..now I need to update my instace data.
    e,g I enter to HumanTask1 with a req msg
    <UserReq>
    <Name>nam1</name>
    <address>addr1</address>
    </UserReq>
    now I want to update address by 'addr2'.

  • Will updated workflow affects previous items in list?

    Hi All,
    I have list form associate with list workflow and contains more than 10 items where workflow status for all is in In-progress.
    Once i update current workflow, will affect previous 10 items or not?

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to know whether it would affect the existed in-progress workflow if updated the workflow action.
    It would no effect when you updated the action if the workflow had been executed.
    When you start the workflow, the workflow had been executed, when you publish a new version workflow, it would has no effect for the started workflow.
    It only work for the items which executed the workflow after publishing the new version workflow.
    If you stop the workflow for the in-progress items, then you restart the workflow, it would start the updated workflow.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • How to access workflow variables from business classes?

    In WLI2.1 the com.bea.wlpi.server.admin.Admin bean was useful to retrieve workflow
    variables for a particular instance id.
    Is there anything similar in 8.1?
    We have to do the following:
    In the workflow, when a particular task gets created, a user (claimant of the
    task) should be able to pull the workflow xml data in a JSP. The user may update
    the data from the JSP and then the updated xml needs to be saved in the workflow.
    Then, onTaskCompleted, the updated xml will follow the rest of the workflow.
    How to do this is 8.1?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    Pls check for setRequest/setResponse in task control and setTasksRequest/setTasksResponse
    i task worker control. Hope this will resolve your issues as they have XmlObject
    as parameter.

  • Can a workflow process continue from form trigger?

    in my workflow project i have launched a workflow process from a form.in the process there is a notification from which i can open a form for further modification of data .currently i am continuing this particular process by pressing an 'updated' button in the notification after updating the data from form. if not updated it'll send that notification back again.can i do the same functionality through a button say 'updated' in the form called from the notification?
    ie i want to continue my process from my custom form called from notification,not by responding the notification's button itself .
    anyway i have completed the project succesfully.if anybody needs any help related to the functionalities noted above ( like 1.launching workflow from form or concurrent program
    2.opening(querying a custom form with particular data) a custom form from notification.
    3.submitting concurrent program from a workflow process ) can contact me at [email protected]

    When we consider that email is simply a communications protocol being leveraged by the workflow, it becomes clear that the problem most likely lies in the email enablement of your Archive list.  If your Archive list is indeed identical to the Requests
    list, then I would take a look at configuration for email on that list as it probably isn't configured correctly.  Additionally, you may wish to double check the email alias you're using in the workflow.  Sending email to the wrong email address
    is just a slip of the keyboard but can result in many hours of debugging.  Ultimately, I would recommend tracking the email through Exchange logs to see if it's received and sent correctly.
    I trust that answers your question...
    Thanks

  • SharePoint 2013 workflow deployment doens't update workflow definition

    In Visual Studio 2013, we can develop SharePoint 2013 workflow and deploy directly in SharePoint. However, once a workflow is deployed and later modified and redeployed, the modified workflow definition doesn't take effects. Even if you retract the solution
    and redeploy, the associated workflow with the sharepoint solution doesn't get updated in the SharePoint. Retracting the SharePoint solution then restarting the development server and finally redeploying will reset the workflow definition.

  • Workflow variables

    While I've been maintaining SharePoint servers for a log time, only recently i started to dab into workflows.  I am struggling to understand how data is passed from the "collect data from user".  For example if I want to collect car_type,
    car_color, and car_value from the user,  I will assign these variables in the task, then set it to car:ID as the place holder.  When is time to email someone the info, i can't seem to find the correct car:id and values within the car: id.  Any
    help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi John and thanks for your reply.  This is the same document i am trying to follow.
    1.  I have followed the document to the letter.  The problem is when set and done, in the "Define Workflow Lookup" i do not get the source as task.   I am using designer 2013 but all my workflows are created on 2010 platform.  My
    screen looks like:
    Data Source:  "Association:Task List"  is the only lookup available field i can return "Review Status"
    2. The bottom data binding is even more confusing:
    There is no "workflow data" field available.  I only have "Workflow ID, Workflow list ID, and Workflow name" which none returns the correct values.
    3.  The document describes getting and storing two string Values " Reject and approved".  But following the document I don't see this happening.  I am guessing that I have to use the "set workflow variables" twice:  one
    for approved and one for reject to use at the later time.
    Greatly appreciate for any help.

    Hi,
    I have created Workflow Variable, from that variable I need to get the information from another list. Could you pls share u r Knowledge.

    If you want to set a field in another list item, you would run the update item command, select the field you want to change and then select your workflow variable.

    Sorry for the late reply. My email firewall has become a little over zealous & sent a lot of my emails straight to my junk email folder, so I have only just now discovered your reply in my junk mail folder.
    The only "don't open files exceeding xxx megabytes" instruction I can find in my Prefs, is in the Bridge Prefs for Thumbnails, & mine is set at 1000mb. The biggest files I handle are bigger than 200mb so I should be able to open a few, not just one.
    However, this doesn't explain why I can open a psd format file of 180mb, close it, but then can't open a RAW format file of only 26mb immediately after.
    I can open the RAW file only if I restart my computer - very annoying!
    However, thanks for the advice about the video card & memory.
    So, I'm still stuck as to what the issue is.

  • Error while updating Date Field on Process Form.

    Hi,
    I am using java code to pre-pop date on the process form.First I used a java code whic took java.sql.date as input and returned the same java.sql.date.But it gave an error that:java.lang.String cannot be converted to java.sql.date.......
    So I changed the java code and now it takes string as input and returns java.sql.date. This code works fine for Pre-pop adapter and the date is populated on the process form.
    But when i use the same code in a Process Task adapter to update the date, then it gives the following error:
    ERROR [ACTIVE] ExecuteThread: '0' for queue: 'weblogic.kernel.Default (self-tuning)' XELLERATE.ADAPTERS - Class/Method: tcAdpEvent/updateDataSetValuePost encounter some problems: Adapter Execution Error: updateDataObjFieldValuePost: error updating UD_OID_USR_DATE_OF_BIRTH
    ERROR [ACTIVE] ExecuteThread: '0' for queue: 'weblogic.kernel.Default (self-tuning)' XELLERATE.ADAPTERS - Class/Method: tcAdpEvent/updateDataSetValuePost encounter some problems: {1}

    Can you tell me how you have implemented populating an UDF based on Prepopulation of another UDF. I have a similar kind of requirement. It would be great if you share your code or relevant part of it.

  • Global Variable in Oracle Forms 6i

    Hi,
    How & where to define global variable in Oracle form 6i and also let me know how to access it.
    Thanks in advance
    Regards,

    hi
    Global variable are forms specifice variable.
    it can store character value upto 255 for all usages.
    We can initialize it when we declare otherwise give error if we did not assign it any value.
    Oracle 10g it can take upto 4000 bytes
    GLOBAL.ur_globalvar := TO_CHAR(15);
    or
    :GLOBAL.ur_globalvar:= '15';
    or
    Remmber numeric values are implicitly converted by oracle 2 character
    :GLOBAL.ur_globalvar:= 15;
    -- which can then subsequently be accessed using...
    :GLOBAL.ur_globalvar;
    -- To destroy a global variable and release its memory, use the ERASE built-in procedure:
    Erase('GLOBAL.my_var'); Regards,
