Updateconnection patchserver help please - (server S10,  client S9)

Hi,
I am still having difficulties with updateconnection and Solaris 9.
I have a patchserver on a T2000:
durante:patchsvr 134# patchsvr setup -l
Patch source URL: https://getupdates1.sun.com/
Cache location: /var/sadm/spool/patchsvrThis works fine for all my Solaris 10 systems (until Sun does something again)
and I have no trouble with it.
Under advice from this forum, I installed the Solaris 9 version of UpdateConnection
and it works fine when going direct to Sun for my patches (after running sconadm).
But when I set it to go to my patchserver, I am getting no joy:
zathras:/tmp 115# smpatch analyze -C patchpro.internal.statustags=true -C patchpro.log.level=7 -C patchpro.debug=true -C patchpro.log.file=/tmp/smpatchDebug.l

Ok,
I flushed all the cached data on the patchsvr and cleared all the CLOSE_WAIT
connections there.
Then I restarted the patchsvr
I then ran the smpatch update with debug options on the client with the following
settings:
patchpro.patch.source           http://durante:3816/solaris/
patchpro.patchset               patchdb1        patchdb1This gave me the mesg "No patches required" which I do not believe
as this system is my desktop which I know has not been patched for about 2
months.
Then to balance the test case, I reset the client patch config to:
patchpro.patch.source           http://durante:3816/
patchpro.patchset               current         patchdb1This did not work at all. At the CLI stderr poked out:
smpatch analyze -C patchpro.internal.statustags=true -C patchpro.log.level=7 -C patchpro.debug=true -C patchpro.log.file=/tmp/smpatchDebug.log

  • Help PLEASE- Server not responding error

    So I got an iPad2 last week Saturday, and the Internet was working great, but this week I have continuously been receiving an error saying: Cannot Open Page: Safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding. I check to make sure that I'm connected, and when I try to go on safari the page loads for about 30 secs and the error appears.
    I have tried everything thus far I.E.
         Turn the device on/off
         Reset my network setting
         Pressed forget this network and tried to reconnect
         Turned my airplane mode on/off
    But nothing is working. I got this as a graduation gift and it ***** that I can't use it. So someone please advise me on what I should do! :-(

    Have you tried restarting/resetting the iPad itself?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430
    If that doesn't help, are you trying to connect only with a single WiFi access point? If so, can other devices connect to that WiFi, or have you tried the iPad with another WiFi connection to confirm that the problem isn't with your WiFi or Internet connection?

  • RMI Server issuing commands to clients - help please

    I am trying to setup 2 clients to respond when an RMI server sends them a message, however I have never done any distributed programming before.
    Can anyone please post up some classes which show how to have a client listening and a server connecting to them in order to activate a method. I would be extremely grateful. If anyone knows of a web site or another similar resource with an example like this that would also be much appreciated...
    Many thanks,
    drawdE

    Earlier responses pointed out something important:
    when it comes to real communications, the roles of
    client and server are frequently switched.Yes, but CONCEPTUALLY.
    What you mean to say really, is that a process can be ASKED for some resource (then it would be acting like a "server") or it can ASK for a resource (it would be acting like a "client"). Please note that i said it ACTS like something. It is not the same thing as it REALLY BEING that thing substantially. What i'm driving at is that when you design an app, objects that make it up take dual roles at THAT LEVEL of their own operation, but universally (when you look at the ENTIRE app), things cannot switch around like that anytime they want. An RMI Server is just that: A server. Clients connect to it, and there's no reason for the server to want to connect to a client of its own volition. When you start doing that, you're messing around with WHAT IT MEANS to implement client/server arch.....For instance, the objects that make up of that talk to bound remote objects on the server, CAN act out this dual role: but not when you have a bird's eye view of the entire app.
    Its bad design. Its bad practise.
    >
    At the "architectural" level - something I admit is
    vague - I suggest that in the application described by
    the original poster, the only distinctions between
    client and server are
    o There are multiple clients but only one server.What the original post doesnt seem to get is that there would be as many clients as servers if he succeeds.
    o A client can register with a server for on-going
    communications, In everything else i would agree, but not in RMI: its nature just forbids it, because it means implementing what is in the server-side......on the client-side, just so the client can be TALKED TO by the "one server", as you put it.
    but not the reverse.
    >
    This last point is key to server-initiated
    communications (using RMI). When a client registers
    with a server, it passes a reference to an object that
    extends Remote. The server holds onto this reference,
    and when it has something to say to the clientlike what? RMI isnt built that way! the client talks to the server. End of story.
    , then
    the server calls a method of that remote objectimplying another server on the client-side!!! doesnt make sense at all.
    >
    Finally, It bears repeating in this forum: With RMI,
    such "callbacks" will not work if the clients are
    behind firewalls.Correct, but irrelevant: firewalls or no firewalls, WHY are you trying to do it in the first place?
    It also bears repeating in this forum: RMI is client/server architecture in practice, but its the NATURE of RMI that forbids it from being used the way ANY OTHER C/S architecture out there is flexible.

  • Please help about server-client

    hi,
    i have a server and client application.
    my source is :
    for server :
    ServerSocket serverSocket = new ServerSocket(2000);
    clientSocket = serverSocket.accept(); for client :
    SocketAddress sockAddr = new InetSocketAddress("192.168.2.2", 2000);
    sck = new Socket();
    sck.connect(sockAddr, 5000);
    System.out.println(sck.isConnected()); my problem is one more client can connect to the server via same port,
    this is wrong, because the port is already bounded by another client !
    how can i solve this problem?
    thanks..

    OK, networking 101. When you start your server and bind it to a port, that
    binding is only exclusive for other processes on the server itself. Think about
    it, if whenever a client connected to a port on a server and that client alone had
    an exclusive lock on that port, nothing would ever get done. Amazon.com would
    go out of business. Port 80 is HTTP for the WHOLE WORLD.
    What happens is when the client makes the connection, the operating system
    picks a different port at random from 1025 and above that is not already bound
    and sends that back to the client who then makes that adjustment.
    In short, your code is working just fine. Hope that helps.

  • Help :- Send Large File From Server To Client

    Hey guys, I am stuck with a problem.Hope u guys might be able to help me out. My problem is :-
    From client i am doing an operation which results in calculation of results by server and saving a file on the server..But i want to see what results have been computed by the server and hence i want to stream that file back to the client..
    The file may be of 100MB as well , that is, the size of the file may be huge.
    I want u guys to tell me how to stream that file back to the client..I tried returning byte array which gets serialized and then received at client side but as i said the file may be huge so memory problem may arise, so returning byte[] from function is not a good solution..
    I am looking something where server can send the file back to the client in chunks..Client keeps receiving these chucks and keep putting them in the file.
    So how to make server send file in chunks??Also, i don't know the hostname and ports...so sockets i can't use...
    Any Another way to do it...??
    is PipedStream a solution??
    Please guys, help me
    Thanks in advance

    I knew about sockets but as i said i am able to send request to server by client by calling a remote method...There i haven't used sockets...RMI uses sockets, I assume you mean you don't access to the underlying socket.
    So i wanted to know if we can without using sockets send file back to Client..I would have the RMI return the connection details where the result can be obtains, .e.g with hostname, port, and file name to use.
    I would suggest trying to compress the stream as well (just wrapp the stream on the sender/reciever), especially for files over 1 MB.
    Tell me something abt PipedStreams as well..If they are of any use here or not?I don't see how. PipedStreams can be used to share data between threads in the same process.
    If RMI is your only choice you can perform a method which would return alot of data and have seperate methods to download portions of it.
    e.g.
    public int loadBigFile(String filename); // returns the number of portions.
    public byte[] returnPortion(int n);
    int portions = rmi.loadBigFile("my-big-file.xml");
    for(int i=0;i<portions;i++) {
       byte[] bytes = rmi.returnPortion(i);
       // do something with bytes.
    }You can have the server cleanup the file when the last portion is read.

    Indicas que no puedes abrir ningun archivo de video, se supone que has probado varios formatos, mp4, mov,..
    Has actualizado el OSX a 10.9 ?, funcionaba antes? La versión de Photoshop es la CC, no la CC 2014?
    En el menú de Ayuda>Actualizaciones, cual es el resultado, dice que esta al día?
    Tienes abiertas otras aplicaciones?
    Prueba a cerrar todo, espera media minuto y abre Photoshop a ver que ocurre.

    You're probably running into the servers simply being swamped. Thousands of people are all going for the software update at the same time. Give it a try again and if that doesn't work, then try plugging it into your computer and trying it that way.
    I didn't get a notion of the size, it doesn't seem to be as big as the 700 meg 5.0 update, but it did take me 20+ minutes to download via cable internet so it's a large file. That in and of itself takes a while.
    If you're trying to download it directly to your iPhone, you'll need to be on wifi since I'm sure it's well over the 20 meg file size limit for 3G.

  • I have ADOBE CC After Effects, but need CS6 so I can make files for client. Help please

    I've been working in ADOBE CC as I have Creative Cloud, but I have a client who needs things made in CS6 and I need to make sure before I send (he's one of 'those' clients).
    I've had a look, but can't see now to do it. Help please.

    Jeff,
    Sorry for the delayed response.
    I'm running Windows 7; 64-bit.
    Version:
    2.0.4000.0
    I'll keep trying.

  • TS3276 my server went down and now my email is not working, can anyone help please?

    My website server went down and now my email is not working (though the server is back up)
    Does anyone know what I need to do?
    I'm told by my website hosts that I need to 'reconfigure authentication" but I have no idea how to do this, they are now closed for the weekend and I need it fixed before Monday morning. Could anyone tell me where to find step by step instructions. I've tried but have made matters worse and the couple of mail accounts that WERE still receiving email are now also not.
    Help please!

    Hi Eyen80,
    If you are having issues with your iPhone’s camera not functioning, you may want to troubleshoot using the steps in this article -
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2802
    Specifically -
    Camera isn't functioning or has undesired image quality
    If the screen shows a closed lens or black image, force quit the Camera app.
    If you do not see the Camera app on the Home screen, try searching for it in Spotlight. If the camera does not show up in the search, check to make sure that Restrictions are not turned on by tappingSettings > General > Restrictions.
    Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from any obstructions. Use a microfiber polishing cloth to clean the lens.
    Cases can interfere with the camera and the flash. Try gently cleaning the lens with a clean dry cloth or removing the case if you see image or color-quality issues with photos.
    Try turning iPhone off and then back on.
    Tap to focus the camera on the subject. The image may pulse or briefly go in and out of focus as it adjusts.
    Try to remain steady while focusing:
    Still images: Remain steady while taking the picture. If you move too far in any direction, the camera automatically refocuses to the center.
    Note: If you take a picture with iPhone turned sideways, it is automatically saved in landscape orientation.
    Video: Adjust focus before you begin recording. You can also tap to readjust focus while recording. Exiting the Camera application while recording will stop recording and will save the video to the Camera Roll.
    Note: Video-recording features are not available on original iPhone or iPhone 3G.
    If your iPhone has a front and rear camera, try switching between them to verify if the issue persists on both.
    Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    Best,
    Brett L

    2 errors: "Your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable" and the sim says "searching" while iTunes says there is "No Sim installed" - but of course, there is! Any help please??

    Hi Peter,
    Thank you for the note - I have seen similar replies on other posting errors and I see how that could make sense. The thing is, my iPhone is not jailbroken - it is from an authorized distributor. However, when I told them about the "no service" problem on the sim, they were unable to assist. Then my phone messaged that an itunes restore was required - so I did that, several times, to the error message now noted on my post. I wonder if there is some other way to over-write this message? Thanks very much.

  • Help please! Error getting License. License Server Communication Problem: E_ADEPT_NO_TOKEN.

    Help please! I paid for and downloaded 2 books from eBooks library and it then goes to my download folder (on a Windows PC). When I double click on the downloaded book to open, digital editions comes up and then I get the following message: Error getting License. License Server Communication Problem: E_ADEPT_NO_TOKEN. My computer is authorised and I have tried everything I can think of but can't get the books to download into adobe digital editions. Can anybody help??? Thanks

    I should have mentioned also that the first book downloaded fine. It's just the second one that I'm having the problems with.

    1. Turn router off for 30 seconds and on again
    2. Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
