+Updated Console (for x-fi) - no midi record, Sorry if this has been asked elsewhere, but I can't find it ...
I have just clean installed Windows 7, and re-installed the x-fi fatalty champion, and Sonar 4 (I know, I should upgrade this too). I installed the new Creative Win7 drivers and apps for Console Launcher, Audio Control Panel and Soundfont Conntrol Panel.
I now find there's no option on the Console to record from the midi synth. Checking in the Taskbar for Recording Devices, there's no midi there either.
However ... midi still plays ok in Sonar, I just can't record from a midi track on to a new audio track. Neither can I get the midi to register in "What-U-Hear".
Has anyone any ideas about resolving this please?

Well you said it all, it is a recent change of sorts. The article I sent you to explains that everything done audio-wise is done differently. EVERYTHING. So if you get it to work with this version (four versions ago) you are 00% lucky. The midi recording will not be the same. That is what I was trying to let you know. I would not want you to keep ripping your hair out, when the Windows Driver Model is so drastically different.

    gear: motu micro lite midi interface, powerbook g4, yamaha elctronic drums dtxpress 2, edirol midi controller.
    when i get this worked out i will have 3 other keyboards hooked up midi.
    when i try now, my drums are bass or my edirol is drums
    basic idea:
    someone playing a bass line on the edirol while someone else is playing the midi yamaha drum kit.
    also i would like to know if it is possible to keep my edirol connected usb running audio instruments or if i have to connect it midi to my micro lite.
    i was told that it has something to do with setting up the environment.
    i am midi ******** so please, if you can help, be simple.

    I'm not 100% sure about that but I think Logic Express don't allow simultaneous recording of more than one midi track. I think this is a Pro-only feature.

  • Why no updated firmware for hp dvd writer 1260d? MID codes are outdated. Can't burn many disc brands

    I have an HP Pavilion a610n. The operating system is WIndows XP. No error messages. No recent installations.
    As stated, many modern brands of discs used for burning have modern MID Codes. This is especially true of Double Layer (DL) discs. Unfortunately, my HP DVD Writer 1260d (that I bought within the past two years) seems to be antiquated or on the road to being obsolete because no firmware updates are available for this model with its old, old MID Codes. (Just to get this off my chest, my second question might be "Why would I ever buy another HP computer since this one continues to be a complete headache in every way?")

    I'm having the same problem using Toast 7 to burn a Video TS movie I made. I'm using an external Lacie 16X DVD-R DL drive and an iMac G5 2.0, and Mac OS 10.4.3
    After several failures with Interface Error 5, I tried copying a DVD movie I made from another DVD. This was created with the same Lacie drive using Mac OS 10.3 and my old iMac FP 15 inch. I got the same failure message.
    I then switched my Lacie Drive to the USB port and everything is working fine. I switched it back to FireWire and I get the same error message again.
    I can play DVD's on the Lacie with either the USB or FireWire port without any problem, I just can't record using the FireWire port. The FireWire ports on the computer work fine with all my other FireWire devices.
    It must be a combination of 10.4.3, Toast 7 and Lacie FireWire. I'm going to recheck Lacie's site to make sure I have all of the updates.

    Yes, it does. The point is can your computer use full Internet Recovery with the firmware update or not. If not then you have to begin with the Snow Leopard DVD that came with your computer and do an Erase and Install.
    Clean Install of Snow Leopard
    Be sure to make a backup first because the following procedure will erase
    the drive and everything on it.
         1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc or the Disc 1 that came
             with your computer.  Insert the disc into the optical drive and restart the computer.
             After the chime press and hold down the  "C" key.  Release the key when you see
             a small spinning gear appear below the dark gray Apple logo.
         2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue
             button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
             After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive
             size.)  Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.  Set the number of
             partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, click on Options button
             and select GUID, click on OK, then set the format type to MacOS Extended
             (Journaled, if supported), then click on the Apply button.
         3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed
             with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.
         4. When the installation has completed your computer will Restart into the Setup
             Assistant. Be sure you configure your initial admin account with the exact same
             username and password that you used on your old drive. After you finish Setup
             Assistant will complete the installation after which you will be running a fresh
             install of OS X.  You can now begin the update process by opening Software
             Update and installing all recommended updates to bring your installation current.
    Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.
    However, if you can use full Internet Recovery:
    Install Yosemite, Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion Using Internet Recovery
    Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
    Boot to the Internet Recovery HD:
    Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears on the screen. Wait patiently - 15-20 minutes - until the Recovery main menu appears.
    Partition and Format the hard drive:
    Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
    After DU loads select your newly installed hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
    Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion. Mavericks: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks and click on the Install button. Be sure to select the correct drive to use if you have more than one.
    Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
    This should restore the version of OS X originally pre-installed on the computer.

    Create a hidden item on your page. Call it somehow - P1_KEY. Create other hidden fields
    for the rest of the columns you want to update. Create a link per report line. This link will be
    inserting the primary key of your record into P1_KEY and the other values you want to
    update in the other hidden fields. It will branch to the same page and contain a request - i.e. UPDATE_ROW. Then
    you create a process - On Load Before Header - which will
    take the value from your item P1_KEY and update the record
    in the database by setting the the column values to the
    values in your hidden fields. This process will fire upon
    request you specified. However, this way you will not be
    able to update your text areas, since you will not be able
    to transfer this over a link. Also you need to be carefull
    about special characters.
    Maybe there is a better proposal than this.

  • How to update a MacBook Pro 17 inch mid 2010 with SSD?

    I know that this question probably been asked many times before, but i can't really find the answers to my specific questions.
    I want to update my MacBook Pro 17 inch mid 2010 / 2,66-GHz Intel Core i7-processor, 8 GB memory, running latest Mavericks version (full specs: http://support.apple.com/kb/SP581?viewlocale=nl_NL) with a SSD (i think a 500GB) to speed up my MacBook Pro.
    I have about 400GB of data, personal and work related (mostly design work) that is really important to me of course. I use 3 harddrives (one offsite) at the moment to backup everything using Time Machine which works great, because i always can fall back on it when i delete something accidentally.
    The physical installation looks quite simple to do, but i have some questions about the entire procedure i hope someone can help me with:
    Which SSD will fit in my Macbook Pro the best (specs)? What to look for?
    And what about TRIM support to make SSD last longer, i heared that Apple default drives that come with the Mac will support TRIM, but what about any other SSDs on the market do support it and if so which ones?
    There are different ways to do install SSD, but what is best procedure?
    Clone HDD to SSD with Carbon Copy Cloner or restore from Time Machine?
    Clean install with Bootable USB flash drive with Mavericks and restore from Time Machine?
    Buy a USB enclosure for SSD and Clone HDD to SSD with Carbon Copy Cloner first and boot it to check and than install the drive?
    Could anybody help me with this?

    Look here for the maximum memory for each MBP model:

    The limit is given by the memory controller ("northbridge").
    There are no thermal drawbacks expanding the memory to the maximum supported limit...
    However, as explained, often Apple did specify an "official" maximum RAM amount which is in reality shorter than the real value, simply because, when the machine was launched, memory sticks of the proper size for giving maximum capacity were not available.
    Apple never revises the specs after the launch...
    But this did not happen in your case: the maximum memory for mid-2010 Core machines appears to be effectively just 8 Gb, form the page linked above...
    Final remark: in my experience, the SSD counts much more than memory for speeding up a laptop! As you already have 8 Gb, there is little value to expand to 16Gb even if it was posisble. Better to invest the same money in a  larger SSD...
    I expanded mine because it was equipped with just 4 Gb, and purchasing 16Gb Corsair was costing as 8 Gb Crucial. However, it was not a wise choice, those cheap Corsair memories were bad, the seller had to exchange both sticks...
    If I could come back, it was better to spend more and buy Crucial memory sticks!

  • Problem while generating Update progam for a Change Document Object

    Hi,
    I'm trying to deal with Change Document concept in a R/3 4.6C environment and to establish new Change Document object for my (Z)-table. I haven't using any namespace and created object with name ZTEST. Following the online documentation I came to the point, where I have to generate include program. I made all the nessesary inputs (using Z prefix) but faced
    "Function module name is reserved for SAP"
    Creating everything similarily using some of our registered namespaces (/somenamespace/) I succeed to generate the Update program and to integrate it in my Z-programs as well.
    My question is: is it possible to use Change Document Object-names without predefined namespace - being a regular customer developer, but not an SAP developer - means, if I am allowed to manage programs in the customer namespace (Z,Y, X) only. If yes, how to do this?
    Further (I decided not to open a new thread) - generated Update program uses
    CALL FUNCTION 'xxxxx' IN UPDATE TASK
    for creation of Change Numbers for generated Change Document Object. This CALL doesn't work when I implemented it in my Z-program, but when changed  (IN UPDATE TASK was commented) - everything goes well and the system creates records in CDHDR/CDPOS tables for my object class and table.
    Why is that? According to the documentation I shoud only fill appropriate variables for the Change Document Object (class, tr.code, etc.) and call generated FM, nothing is pointed out about any possible problems? Am I doing something wrong?
    Well, to be precise, I think I have to give a sample:
    1. I have a sample Z-table with few fields (their data elements are marked as Change-Document relevant).
    2. Using own z-progam I created a new record for this z-table. Also fill all the nessesary variables included in the interface of generated FM for Change Document Object (for example - FM-mane CD_CALL_my_object).
    3. I call the CDO FM.
    4. Check what is happening (directly in both tables CDHDR/CDPOS or using FM CHANGEDOCUMENT_READ).
    Further, I perfom the steps from 1 to 4 updating the created in previous loop record in my Z-table.
    In both cases if the FM 'CD_CALL_my_object' is called IN UPDATE TASK nothing happens, but in case of direct call (without addition IN UPDATE TASK) the system behaves as expected. Well, obliously I can change the generated code for our production needs, but it doesn't seems to be the correct decision - in case of next possible modification of the Change Document Object definition, respectively in need of re-generation of the code.
    Any hints are wellcome.

    "IN UPDATE TASK" resolved by myself. The one should explicitly call 'COMMIT WORK' from Z-program after CALL FUNCTION '...' IN UPDATE TASK in order to get changes in the CDHDR/CDPOS commited. The key in this issue for me was to check the documentation of CALL FUNCTION :-).

    No, there is no update except for what is installed with an OS X update. Open Boot Camp Assistant and click on the large Print Documentation button. Read carefully.

    And I don't understand what you are trying to do here?
    You have an AFTER INSERT trigger that tries with an autonomous transaction to update a column of the same record (and maybe some other records with same LINE_TYPE / BATCH_ID / LINE_NO as well?)
    What is the purpose of this?
    I think what you maybe is experiencing is, that you execute an insert, then in the trigger you try to update the same record, but to avoid mutating table error you have created the trigger in an autonomous transaction, and therefore the trigger cannot yet see the inserted record as that has not yet been committed.
    If the update is supposed to update just one record, then maybe a BEFORE INSERT trigger to just set the value of :new.SUBINVENTORY?
    If supposed to update more than one, then exchange your autonomous transaction with one of the better ways of avoiding mutating table error by remembering the rows to update in "for each row" triggers and then do the updates at the end in an after insert trigger without "for each row."

    XK99 won't help since you can't find the email,
    Batch input recording won't help as well since the email can't be found.

    Hello Amir,
    You can use LSMW for update operation. You should create a batch input recording for transaction FK02. But you must tick "Use central address management" checkbox on FK02 screen while recording batch input. After that you will see E-mail field on screen.
