Hi joesteele!
What linked the use -
converting to DOS line endings in gcc.pl Cygwin?
catalog.xml: done.
adding: catalog.xml (deflated 75%)
adding: library.swf (deflated 61%)
quote:
I looked this line 465
# check whether line endings need to be fixed on Cygwin
$need_fix = qx/mount | grep "cygdrive.*binmode"/;
if($need_fix) {
print "converting to DOS line endings\n";
sys("unix2dos", "catalog.xml");
checked the '$ need' variable: print "$need_fix\n";
And the result on my PC:
c: on /cygdrive/c type system (binmode,noumount)
d: on /cygdrive/d type system (binmode,noumount)
i: on /cygdrive/i type system (binmode,noumount)
As a result - always contains binmode and converts to r \ n \
I'm not sure that is important, but it seems the size of SWC
different depending OS
Thank you!

  • Creating Software Update Packages - Best Practice?

I am setting up our SCCM 2012 R2 environment to begin using it for Windows Updates, however I'm not sure 100% the best method of setting it up.
Currently my plan is to break out the deployment packages by OS, but I read\told that I should avoid creating to many dynamic deployment packages, as every time it changes all the computers will re-scan that package.  So What I want to do is create
various packages for OS and years, so I would have a package that contains all updates for Windows 7, older then January 31, 2013 (assuming the package doesn't have 1000+ updates), and are not superseded\Expired. Then I would create Packages for the 2014
monthly updates each month, then at the end 2014, combine them all in 1 package, and restart the process for 2015.  Is this a sound plan or is there a better course of action?
If this the best practice method, is there any way to automatically create these packages?  I tried the Automatic Deployment Rules, but I can not set a Year of release, only the a time frame of the release,(older then 9 Months), unless I am missing
something.  The only way I can see doing this is going into All Software Updates, and filtering on my requirements, and then manually creating the package, but this would less desirable, as after each year I would like to remove the superseded and expired
without having to recreate the package.
    Mark.

First, please learn what the different objects are -- not trying to be rude, just stating that if you don't do this, you will have fundamental issues. Packages are effectively meaningless when it comes to deploying updates. Packages are simply a way of grouping
the binary files so they can be distributed to DPs and in-turn made available to clients. The package an update is in is irrelevant. Also, you do not "deploy" update packages and packages are not scanned by clients. The terminology is very important because
there are implications that go along with it).
What you are actually talking about above are software update groups. These are separate and distinct objects from update packages. Software Update groups group updates (not the update binaries) into logical groups that can be in-turn deployed or used for
    compliance reporting.
Thus, you have two different containers that you need to be concerned about, update packages and update groups. As mentioned, the update package an update is in is pretty meaningless as long as the update is in a package that is also available to the clients
that need it. Thus, the best way (IMO) to organize packages is by calendar period. Yearly or semi-annually usually works well. This is done more less to avoid putting all the updates into a single package that could get corrupted or will be difficult to deploy
    to new DPs.
As for update groups, IMO, the best way is to create a new group every month for each class of products. This typically equates to one for servers, one for workstations, and one for Office every month. Then at the end of every year (or some other timeframe),
rolling these monthly updates into a larger update group. Keep in mind that a single update group can have no more than 1,000 updates in it though. (There is no explicit limit on packages at all except see my comments above about not wanting one huge package
    for all updates.)
Initially populating packages (like 2009, 2010, 2011, etc) is a manual process as is populating the update groups. From then on, you can use an ADR (or really three: one for workstations, one for servers, and one for Office) that runs every month, scans
for updates released in the past month, and creates a new update group.
Depending upon your update process, you may have to go back and add additional deployments to each update group also, but that won't take too long. Also, always QC your update groups created by an ADR. You don't want IE11 slipping through if it will break
    your main LOB application.

  • Nokia C7 (059D0B0) software update package problem...

    Hi,
I was helping my aunt to update her C7 (RM-675) model. I tried to help her by installing the PR1.2 update first through SW Update as it showed up there. I managed to download the file with size of almost 7000kb through Wi-Fi on the phone.
When the phone requested for a restart, the screen went white and a word "Updating" showed up. However, within ten seconds, there's a message showing "Restarting the phone" on the white screen.
Phone booted into the homescreen and a message popped out saying "Phone not updated. The software package is not compatible with your phone. Please check with your local service provider".
That didn't make me give up. I went to try again using USB connection to Nokia OVI Suite. The system checked there's an update of PR1.2 and I chose to update it. At first, the system requested for a phone backup and so I waited for it to finish backing up the phone. Later, I downloaded the PR1.2 software update with the file size of 175mb. When finished downloading, there's an error message showing up "Something went wrong". The system suggested me to restart the Nokia OVI Suite and then after several attempts, I couldn't detect the updates anymore. The result returned with "No updates available".
I went to try my luck on *#0000# and check for updates. I could detect v22.014 update was available for download with the file size of 25000kb+. Again, I finished downloaded it and phone requested for a restart and it took me to the white screen and the same word "Updating" appeared on the screen again. I thought this time finally I could update to Symbian Anna. Within ten seconds, the phone got rebooted and went to the homescreen again showing up with the same message of  "Phone not updated. The software package is not compatible with your phone. Please check with your local service provider".
The phone product code was 059D0B0. She bought this phone in Malaysia from a local dealer.
I checked the product code variant and this variant is from Spain, I wondered? The latest update for this variant is only 014.002 which I checked on the Nokia official website and still I could detect Symbian Anna update on OTA on the phone. Can the person in charge please check what is wrong with the situation that I'm having? BTW, we're from Malaysia.
    Thank you very much.
    Bernard

I also had problems with the upgrade to Symbian Anna.
My carkit didn't work, telephone went off and on frequently, etc.
Nokia helpcenter told me that my carkit should be upgraded with
new firmware and that had to try to reinstall Symbian Anna.
I tried to reinstall Symbian Anna a few times but nothing worked.
    Now I solved the problem!!!!!
    - Make a backup of your files, pics, video's, etc.
    - Put your phone back in the factory settings
    - sofware update via Wifi or LAN
    - Installs Symbian Anna 1/2 en 2/2
EVERYTHING WORKS FINE NOW!!!!  also my carkit......
    applause for Nokia helpcenter.............NOT!!!!
It will only take about 10 minutes to configure your telephone
and maybe some stuff from your backup.
Tip: put as much as you can on the extra memory card,
I think most you have it in your phone.

  • SQL Server 2012 Cumulative update package 2 (CU2) for SQL Server 2012 Service Pack 2 - why only for x86 ?

    Hey guys...
Im a little bit confused... i wanted to download the newest hotfixes for SQL server 2012...
    But the download for :
2983175 Cumulative update package 2 (CU2) for SQL Server 2012 Service Pack
is only for the platform: x86 available ... but my SQL server 2012 is running in a x64 environment...
(when i checked the older cumulative updates... they're all only for x86.. can someone tell me why ? )
    thanks and regards,
    Dominic

There doesn't exist an SQL Express "Standard". It's two different editions.
For Express there are three 32bit/64bit editions:
Express, Express with Tools and Express with Advanced Services.
Express with Tools is essentially Express with Management Studio Tools, Express with Advanced Services adds also BI (Business Intelligence) + Reporting Services.
As for where you can apply the cumulative update, on the link you can see this:
Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Service Pack 2, when used with:
Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Analysis Services
            Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Developer
            Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Enterprise
            Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Express
Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Business Intelligence
            Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Standard

  • Client Update Packages (SCCM CUs)

What is the proper way of deploying these?  I have the x64 package deployed to a dynamic collection which consists of x64 clients.  It's configured to install as soon as possible.  This is causing issues with new client installs since the
SCEP install and client update seem to interfere with each other.  How can I ensure clients receive the client update in a timely manner but don't interfere with the SCEP  install?

A common approach is to make collections with queries that target x86 and x64 OS architectures.
Then deploy the x86 and x64 client update packages (that get created for you when applying the CU) to those collections.
When you say new client installs do you mean during OSD? If this is the case then you should be patching your client at the point of installation during your OSD Task Sequence.
If you mean that the Client Update package is attempting to install before the major client update - i.e. your on SCCM 2012 SP1 and you have upgraded to 2012 R2 CU1 - then you should be adjusting your queries so they only target clients with the R2 version.
This way you will not have the Client Update package trying to run before the full client upgrade has occurred.
As an example - this is the query I have used to upgrade my SCCM 2012 CU1 client to CU2:
    select SMS_R_SYSTEM.ResourceID,SMS_R_SYSTEM.ResourceType,SMS_R_SYSTEM.Name,SMS_R_SYSTEM.SMSUniqueIdentifier,SMS_R_SYSTEM.ResourceDomainORWorkgroup,SMS_R_SYSTEM.Client from SMS_R_System inner join SMS_G_System_SYSTEM on SMS_G_System_SYSTEM.ResourceID = SMS_R_System.ResourceId
    where SMS_R_System.Active = "1" and SMS_G_System_SYSTEM.SystemType = "X64-based PC" and SMS_R_System.ClientVersion < "5.00.7958.1303" and SMS_R_System.ClientVersion >= "5.00.7958.1000"
There are plenty of blogs which talk about client updates using queries.
    Cheers
    Damon
I have a dynamic collection built already.  I guess my question revolves around how  you should configure the available/deadline part of the deployment.  My issue is that the SCEP install after a client is upgraded from 2007 -> 2012 is kicking
off at the same time as the client upgrade.  The FEP client gets uninstalled, the client upgrade gets stuck in "Waiting for install" and nothing continues until I restart the SMS service.

  • Cyan update is available in my country but i check...

Cyan update is available in my country but i checked it on my phone it says YOUR PHONE IS UP TO DATE, even i reset my phone, thers 4gb free space, fastest wifi connection also available, i checked hundred of times but same problem, i checked on Nokia Gloable available blog theres status available , for God sake what the hell is going on ???? plz plz HELP!

“Windows Phone 8.1 will become available for […] every Lumia […] running Windows Phone 8 […] in a [firmware] package called Lumia Cyan – starting this summer.” When Lumia Cyan is available for your Nokia Product Code, you get a notification on your phone automatically (see Menu » Settings » Phone Update). More about this there …
In the Nokia Software Recovery Tool, what is your 7-letter code (Nokia Product Code)? No Windows computer or USB: The same code is printed on your phone. That code determines your firmware variant which determines your current version. We can check together whether you have the correct variant, only with that code.

  • Create update package question

    So we have a package:
    Adobe_CS6-MasterCollection_en-US_20120912_install.pkg
A month later we want to create an update package that includes ONLY the updates released AFTER the above package was created.
    Possible?
    Don

    Hi Don,
We can modify the package which will detects the previous updates and will show new updates available after that. But if you are  creating new update package then it will not have any knowledge of already created package, rather it will show all the latest available updates.
But point taken, we will analyse the feasibility of including this feature in AAMEE.
    thanks,

We don't know what Apple plans on doing to change this (and it may not be just Apple but more likely the publishers, since Apple would, of course, do whatever it could to maximize sales/profits).  Right now you can only read Apple books on mobile devices. Sure, buy them from Amazon if you want to read them on the computer. We don't work for Apple so we're pretty impartial on this kind of advice.
You might also see what your library can offer.  My wife can browse the county library from her iPhone, borrow e-versions, and read books on it too.  Free!

  • Photoshop CC 2014.1 update now available

The Photoshop CC 2014.1 update now available.
Today we are releasing an update to Photoshop CC that includes new 3D printing features and enhancements designed to make it easier to create beautiful 3D printed designs and give you more printing options.
For more details on the release, see this announcement on the Photoshop team blog:http://blogs.adobe.com/photoshopdotco...
The update also includes several fixes, including fixing an issue with Edit In Photoshop not working from Lightroom and Photoshop commands missing from Bridge Tools menu.
    Getting the update:
Look for the update in the Creative Cloud application and click “Update”. If it doesn’t appear, you may need to quit and re-launch the Creative Cloud application.
If you don’t have the Creative Cloud application running, start Photoshop and choose Help > Updates.
The Adobe Application Manager will launch. Select Adobe Photoshop CC (2014) and choose Update.

After some search, I found this clear part of the logs:
    09/27/14 16:55:25:234 | [INFO] |  | UPDATER | CORE |  |  |  | 6760 | CFU(Webfeed): Query licensing type for LEID  = V7{}Photoshop-15-Win-GM

It means the update for Photoshop 2014.1 and 2014.2 can only be installed with subscription licenses, but not on perpetual licenses (our case).
To workaround that, it would be needed to change
    <TargetLicensingType>1</TargetLicensingType>
    to
    <TargetLicensingType>3</TargetLicensingType>
    inside "UpdateManifest.xml"
But it would broken the signature of that file as recorded in "UpdateManifest.sig"
As an information, technically we have
    LicenseType 3 LicenseStatus 1 , mapped LEID V7{}Photoshop-15-Win-GM
Finally, I think only Adobe can fix this mess with PS update.

  • My iPhone 4s says that my software version 5.0.1 is up to date.  Why am I not receiving the notification that the new update is available for me to download?

I have an iPhone 4s, not jailbroken.   I was able to update to 5.0.1 when it came out last year.  When 5.1.1 came out, I noticed that I never received the
notification that a new update was available.  I updated my 2 ipads and my wife's iphone 4.  I didn't bother looking into it, since I didn't feel the need to update to 5.1.1.  Now I want to update to ios 6, but when I go to Settings > General > Software Update.  It checks for updates , but still shows me that my 5.0.1 is up to date.  I plug into itunes and check for update there and it still indicates that 5.0.1. is up to date as well.
Does anyone know what this is happening and how I can update to ios 6?
    Thanks for the input.

I followed instructions to run 3rd party cleaner software
I tried the adobe removal tool
removing all copies of adobe software manually

A colleague suggested that removing the below folder would allow the installation:

    Hi Christianjr,
When you say you reset your network settings, what do you mean, exactly?
I saw another post on this issue, and the poster indicated that they resolved the problem by turning off their cellular date option and wifi options in Settings, and then turned them back on.
Also, resetting your phone may help - press the Home and Power buttons at the same time and continue to hold both down until the Silver Apple appears. Once it is back up, click on the update option and see if it fixes the problem.
If none of those things work, then need to have details on what you did to reset your network settings....
