Hi randy
I thought so, what i was asking is how best to merge the data,i'm guessing i would need to make the changes create a new form and copy the data into the new form responces area to sync them together.
then use the new form from there on in.

  • Use of text Boxes to programmatically update a PDF form

    Hello all;
I am a very experienced programmer but I do not have much experience with
    PDFs , Acrobat, etc.
I have come up with what I believe is my best solution based on what
I have learned about PDFs and Acrobat.
I am trying to do what seems , to me, like a very simple thing.
    Basic Programming Logic ....
Develop a C# program that runs on a local client.
Reads in an existing PDF file - which has been authored using Acrobat 9.0 Professional to have Text boxes that have meaningful names ... ie - recognizable names.
Read some huge data file in EDI - or XML format - from some source or another.
Update the "template" PDF file using this information by locating the appropriate text boxes named in the PDF file itself and print out as many pages of the PDF form as needed with the electronically received data.
    Basic Algorithm Logic
I create a linked list in memory of all the internal segments of the PDF - carefully preserving all the necessary information and using the recognizable names of the text boxes - I re-write only the information that will appear in the text box and create a newly created and updated version of the PDF file and print it out. Repeating this for as many times as needed.
This is my expected approach .
Is there any reason why this should not be done or used ?
Thank You , in advance, for your assistance.

I see - <br />Isn't there an exisitng plug-in or other facility within the current Acrobat reader to read XML data ? <br /><br />I just tried saving off saving off an exsting PDF file as xml<br />using Acrobat 9.0 professional using <file><Save As Xml> and it worked - the output was realistically XML data - with a schema , etc. and recognizable heirarchical relationships, etc. <br />but it was not readable ....  <br />Isn't there an existing Adobe facility which allows it to read in the xml format that it creates ?<br /> <br />This is quite close to what I am trying to implement.<br />I'll bet that the developers have this little item at their disposal and the marketing department isnt even aware of the market potential - <br />If not , then I would like to suggest a new, inexpensive (add-on , plug-in, etc)  enhancement to the Acrobat reader -  <br />A utility that will read in the XML data format that Acrobat Professional generates ... <br /><br />I am being quite serious - there is a great need for this and it would serve the needs of your already existing clientelle - quite nicely .   (namely --- me) :)<br />I hope that you can either - pass this along to the marketing groups -- (I volunteer to Beta the software) <br />or pass me along to the required Third Part you have alreeady mentioned ... (I am hoping for Beta status ) <br />Thanks for the help <br /><br />Cheers

  • Updating a PDF form and keeping it accessible... is there an easier way?

So I have some InDesign files that were converted to PDF files then brought into Acrobat X where they were turned into accessible forms.
Now edits need to be made to the content.  I've been trying to figure out what the best approach with the least amount of steps to update these accessible PDF forms.
So I export the PDF from InDesign, then..
    Option 1:
Open the newly created PDF and the old version of the accessible form and Copy+paste form fields from old file to new file.
The good: Tags, Structure, hyperlinks and reading order transfers over from Indesign.
The bad: Time consuming. Tabbing order for the fields usually needs a lot of manual adjustment. Manually have to add language, title, subject, keywords
    Option 2:
Open old PDF form and replace the page with the new PDF file.
The good: Fast! Form tabbing order set. Language, title, subject, keywords all good set.
The bad: Tags, Structure, hyperlinks and reading order are gone! Manually touchup reading order, add form fields to tags (which sometimes deletes fields and crashes)
    Option 3:
Open old PDF and use edit document text to fix little issues.
The good: It works for small issues.
The bad: Not an option for anything besides a typo. Can't change layout. Have to do the edit again in Indesign, or have out-of-date files.
Anyone have a better way of doing it?
BTW I'm using InDesign CS5.5 and Acrobat X on Mac

You can print it from you My Verizon online account under Documents and Receipts. This option will appear on the left after logging in.

  • Do I need to have the SDK to update a PDF form using an HTML form for data entry?

I would like to update as many PDF forms as possible based on
the users initial log-in information so that they are not
constantly , and repetitively entering basic information.
Can this be done using Javascript and does it require the SDK
    to perfom?
I would appreciate your help with this real-world scenario.
    Thanks

    Hello
I am using Web Client with the DownLoadFile() option to download files from a site.  If too many requests come in too fast it will banned that address for 24 hours.  (A DDOS security measure) I need to have the program wait until the file
is downloaded before making the next request but be running in the background so not to freeze the application.  A progress form will allow the user to know the status of the downloads.
I see something about asynchronous downloads but do not seem to understand how I would make use of it or if it is the method I want to use.
If someone could point to or give a good example of what I need to do, it would be most welcome.
    David Edwards
    David,
There are two ways which come to mind here, both using the WebClient:
The first is that in a BackgroundWorker, you use the synchronous download method. The synchronous method is a blocking call so obviously it can only get one at a time, and when that one is completed, the loop then starts the next.
The second way - also in a BackgroundWorker - is to use the asynchronous method. The reason for this is because only the asynch method provides events to monitor progress and know when the file has completed. This gets a bit more involved because you're
still processing them in a loop, but it's definitely something that can be done - I've done it several times.
You haven't really given many details, so beyond this general conceptual description there's not a lot more that can I can explain, but your goal definitely can be achieved using a WebClient.
    I hope this helps. :)
Still lost in code, just at a little higher level.

  • Updating a PDF form document

If I create a new PDF document with a series of form fields and then need to update, e.g. the word document is changed to include or change fields, can I update the existing PDF without having to re-do all the fields

    Hi cammic3319
Yes you can change the word document, then make a new PDF then replace the form with the fields with the new PDF.
If you are careful and do not change the position of the fields then it will fit right in.
If you change or add fields then with Acrobat you will have to rearrange the fields to match.

  • The updated Adobe Reader App on the iPad will not flatten a PDF Form before emailing.

My iPad automatically updated and since that update, we cannot fill in PDF forms and flatten to share via email. When we share via email it shares the original file. The help section shows that option to flatten the file, but when actually performing the functions it just automatically attaches the document to the email without that security option. Has anyone run into this issue? How did you resolve it?

As an update, I am finding that I can still send documents via email (and given the option to flatten) if the document was already in my adobe prior to this update, even if I changed the document.  However, If I am opening a new document right now from dropbox or some other source and editing and saving it to adobe, it will only email the original blank document.

  • Lose Jpeg images when editing an existing PDF Form in Acrobat X - All other edits update OK

Have just upgraded to Acrobat X and am having problems trying to update an existing PDF Form which includes jpeg images.    After all edits are done and I save, previewing the PDF identifies that all of the existing jpeg images within the form no longer display.  Unable to figure out what to do to retain these images from the existing PDF.

    Hi,
Based on your other post, the original form was developed in LiveCycle Designer. Therefore you would need to edit the form in LC Designer, to reestablish the link to the image files.

  • Pdf forms (emails) not working after update

I recently have discovered that muse is not sending email pdf forms from the website. Is this a bug? I could not get it to work from preview or browser. I even uploaded a test and sure enough it doesn't send the form. The form sends fine from acrobat, so I know the mailto: settings are correct.
I checked acrobat settings and tried some work arounds. tested again and no luck.
As a final test, I updated an existing website that the forms currently work correctly.  When I updated the site and previewed in browser mode, the forms could not be emailed any more. It's like the mailing URL link doesn't work because nothing was changed on the updated website - it was purely a test to confirm the problem.
    Please help!
If anyone else is having this issue, please post here.

(I had this on a different post not realizing it should have gone here)

definately error 0013 and not 1013?
If 1013, I copied this from another thread, it worked a treat for me yesterday when I kept getting error 1013
More complete solution for those not knowing where to find the file:
    On Mac:
    * Open Finder
    * Hold down COMMAND + SHIFT keys and press 'G'
    * Enter "/private/etc/" in the field and press "Go"
    * Find "hosts" file in the directory
    * Drag the file to your desktop
    * Open it in text editor
    * Remove the line that has gs.apple.com entirely or put a # at the beginning of it to comment it out
    * Save the file
    * Drag it back to the /private/etc/ folder.
    * You'd need to enter your username and password to authenticate the move
    On Windows:
    * Locate the hosts file in one of the following directories:
    Windows 95/98/Me c:\windows\hosts
    Windows NT/2000/XP Pro c:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
    Windows XP, Vista, 7 c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
    * Right click and click on "Open With..." and then click on "Notepad" on the list.
    * Remove the line that has gs.apple.com completely and save the file.
    This should work fine.

  • Reader 10.1.10 update forces our previous PDF forms to be signed.

How can I turn this forces signing function off as it will not let me save a PDF form without signing. This was not an issue with 10.1.9 and our employees who did not update to 10.1.9 can manipulate/save these forms without issue, only those who updated to 10.1.10 have the issue. How can I get past this issue with 10.1.10?

    Hi Bob,
Thanks for reporting the problem faced by you. My investigations suggest that command line printing behavior between Reader 10.1.3 and 10.1.4 is still the same.
It prints the document on Reader 10.1.3 and 10.1.4 only when you do not specify the servername(localhost) on command line. However, It prints both with/without using the servername when Acrobat is used.

  • After updating to Adobe Reader 11.0.07 on my iMac, I cannot print pdf forms off the web

after updating my iMac to Adobe Reader 11.0.07, I cannot print pdf forms off the Web

It would be great, if you could provide us with the following details:
    1. The OS you are working on.
    2. The version of MS Office installed on your machine.
    3. A screenshot of the error message along with the scenario in which the same is displayed.
    4. How exactly did you go about updating Reader 11.0.02 to 11.0.03. Was it via the updater mechanism or by downloading the patch from the Adobe site.
Also, it would be great if you could let us know if there was any other Windows or Antivirus related updates applied on your machine in the same timeframe as the Reader update.

  • How can I get a PDF form to email to me when it is hosted online?

Ok, I'm not a coding expert, but I understand CSS and html alright.
I am trying to create a PDF form for my website: www.pantherapressdesign.com.
I have already created the forms (they are under the purchase section of the site) and when they are saved to the harddrive they work just fine. HOWEVER, when you fill them out and they open in the browser they will not submit to me (aka. I don't get them by email, even though the submit button correctly re-directs you to the thanks page).
In the fuctions of the submit button I have it set to mailto:[email protected]
When the form is saved on the hard drive (I open it from the desktop) and click submit it brings up a dialog box and asks me how I want to send it. I then choose desktop mail service, it opens it in an email and sends it.
I want customers to be able to click the form from the website - fill it out right there in the browser - and then be able to submit it to me that way.
I am assuming I must route this through the php or something, but am not sure how to do that. I have the php working for the contact from on the website, but I don't know php so I used pre-written code to do that. Is there some simple code I can drop into my php that will handle these forms? Help, please! Thanks

I looked at the Stationary form, and there are a number of things you need to change. It is currently set up to submit as "HTML", as opposed to FDF, XFDF, or the entire PDF. This is fine if you're submitting the form to a web server, which can read the field data, place it in an email, and send it off. This is actually much preferred to relying on the user's machine being set up properly to send an email. Many are not and not receiving order that someone thought was submitted will be bad for your business. Consider removing the existing forms today and you can update when they are working.
Your web hosting service likely has a PHP script that is designed to work with HTML forms and send an email with the form data included. This can work with a PDF form if the form is correctly set up. To do that, you will need to know how the script works and what it is expecting in the way of form data when it processes a submission. The PHP script should also be modified to send an appropriate response back to the user, which can be a simple redirect. The way you have it now with a link to the redirect page is wrong. It goes there whether the form is complete or not and whether the email actually got sent. This can be avoided by having the web server take care of this.
If you don't have the expertise to modify the form to suit the PHP script and PHP script to suit the workflow, you'll need to find someone who does.
