Updating a Target Dimension

Hi, I'm trying to generate an UPDATE statement from a mapping that have two source tables joined, linked to a target dimension.
In the dimension operator, the Loading Type property = UPDATE and Match By Constraint = YES...I have tried with ALL the "operating modes" (in the configuration of the mapping), but when generating the Mappings from the Mapping Editor, an error message is displayed: "Code cannot be generated. Specify another operating mode or see validation messages for details". There aren't any error on the validation for this map.
Could anybody know the solution for this problem?
The version of the OWB is 9.0.2 on an 9i rel 2 DB.

Im sure it isn't a bug, I can only guess what the problem is. Let me try again.
If you try the generate immediate code option you will have to select the inoutgrp1 from the target. Is OWB capable of generating code at that part?
It can also mean that there is an error in your mapping. If you set the laoding type to INSERT, does it generate the code? If no the problem is somewhere else.
Otherwhise make only one column like this:
Insert: Use for loading yes
Update: Use for loading no
Update: Use for matching yes
Update: Operator =
Delete: Use for matching no
and all the other:
Insert: Use for loading yes
Update: Use for loading yes
Update: Use for matching no
Update: Operator =
Delete: Use for matching no
Does it generate the code?

FDQM Target Dimension - connection failed

Hi, I am getting started to FDQM and I am trying to prepare the new environment so I started with the workbench and finished these steps:-
1) Imported the Essbase adapter (ES11XG4-J) to the application then registered it successfully.
2) Edited the two environment variables "ESSBASEPATH" and "PATH" with the right variables specified in oracle docs.
3) Opened the configurations of the Adapter from the workbench and submitted this settings:-
a) Source and Target Machines.
b) Application name, Essbase DB Name
The issue now is that when I view the mapped dimensions at the "Dimensions" tab, It always gives me a 'connection failed" error beside the "Target Dimension" label so I can't complete my work to map the dimensions.
I checked the error log also, and found that the error existing now saying "Essbase AP Procedure: [EsbSetActive] Threw code: 1051032-1051032", I searched for this error in the forum here but the solutions offered not working with me!

we need to update, ARBORPATH and ESSBASEPATH first, then in the PATH add as shown in the below link(If it is 64 bit machine)

Make sure, you have installed Essbase Client in the FDM Machine.
Once the Environmental Variables changes done, restart the Server then try again.

Error while updating to target

Hi Friends,
Im trying to load the data from the DSO to the cube, while loading the data im getting a error "Error while updating to target CUBE Name".
when i check the message in error stack im getting this "Value 'Complaints Resolution for Activity ' (hex. '0043006F006D0070006C00610069006E007400730020005200') of characteristic ZWF_NAME BRAIN 60"
I found a notEe 1148007, this not says that
"A program to write data is generated for each InfoCube that contains data (type "Standard"). The name of this program is stored in the table RSDCUBELOC. When you activate an InfoCube again, the name of this program may inadvertently be deleted.
In the DTP monitor, this error occurs in the "Update" step and message RSBK 241 is displayed: "Error while updating to target G7SD0C05 (type INFOCUBE)"
I have checked the table RSDCUBELOC and i can see the program entry there and after that i have reactivated the cube and reloaded the data but im still getting the same issue.
Can anyone pls suggest me how to resolve this issue?.

Hi,
It is issue with the Lowe case letters of a particular info object. You have to write a routine to convert those lower into upper.
reason is if you chack IOB properties Lower case might be unchecked and the data you are getting in lower case.
Let us know the details if you still have any issues.

GR Cost not updating as Target Cost for process orders

Dear SAPians,
We are facing an issue in Target Vs Actual cost reporting for process orders. We are creating a process order after cost estimate of that material and doing the confirmations for activity cost. After that, GR has been done for the finished goods of that process order. That GR entry is updating the Actuals values but not updating the Target cost. When I am checking the standard report KKBC_ORD, I am getting the following figures.

That 'Inventory Change FG' entry is showing the GR posting updating actuals and not target cost. This is causing huge difference in target vs actual cost that will affect the profit and loss figures ultimately.
What am I missing here? What should I do to update the GR amount in Target cost as well.

Target Cost on Production Order or Process Order is shown only when Variance is Calculated.
So please calculate the Variance, system will show the Total Target Cost.

The SCRP_CODE column has a NOT NULL constraint. The ORA-01407 error is telling you that you cannot update or set a value for this column to null because of the constraint. This has absolutely nothing to do with an index. You can use a marker/sentinel value in lieu of using NULL. For a numeric field, where everything is positive, a negative value (-1) can be decoded as meaning null. For a character field, a code such as NA can represent NULL.
This also has nothing to do (directly) with GoldenGate failing because of this error. The underlying SQL statement will fail everywhere, regardless of the tool or application. It is not a case of failing only in GoldenGate.

Process Chain : Read PSA and Update Data Target in BI 7.0

Hello Experts,
In my Process Chain I have a variant Execute Infopackage to load the data only into PSA. then I have next variant as *Read PSA and Update Data Target*. my data target was a Master Data table Hierarchy
In the variant " Read PSA and Update Data Target". the selection Parameters were
PSA.Table : 0GLACCEXT_T011_HIER_BA1
Selection Object Type : same Infopackage in Varaint Execute Infopackage
the Error message was Variant doesnot contain a valid combination request/data target
I checked the PSA-Table using RSA1OLD Transaction then I find four PSA Tables:
0GLACCEXT_T011_HIER_BA1
0GLACCEXT_T011_HIER_BA2
0GLACCEXT_T011_HIER_BA3
0GLACCEXT_T011_HIER_BA4
All the requests are linked to PSA Table *0GLACCEXT_T011_HIER_BA4*.
I can't understand why there exists four PSA Tables?
I try to link the PSA-table 0GLACCEXT_T011_HIER_BA4 in the variant *Read PSA and Update Data Target and try to save it it raises short dump.
If I select 0GLACCEXT_T011_HIER_BA1 in the varaint I shouldn't face any problems.?
but the process chain raises an Error message Variant doesnot contain a valid combination request/data target with this variant.
How shall I handle this issue?
Please carify me the issues as soon as possible.

Hello,
In the Variant Read PSA and Update Data Target I have to select the PSA Tabelle Name from the preselection list in the System it shows me all the four PSA Tables that I mentioned.
I can select any one of them. So I trieed with all the four PSA Tables in the list but I can selct only the XXXX......BA1 table then only I can save and include it in the PC. If I select the remaining tables BA2, BA3, BA4.........while I try to save the Variant it raises short dump.
I checked the PSA using the Transaction RSA1OLD under PSA...... I find 4 PSA Tables( I don't know whether they are PSA Tables or not but in the Variant it states that they are PSA Tables) in which all the requests are attached to BA4. only.
I observed that ony for Hierarchies I find four PSA tables for remaining one only one PSA table was available.
I totally confused how to handle this situation. any suggestions......... please help me to resolve this problem.

Error while updating to target type INFOCUBE

Hi,
After BI SP16 Upgrade, we noticed that data load to a cube with DTP (7X DS) with partioning active, it would error out saying, "Error while updating to target " " type INFOCUBE....we applied note '1148007' and did reactivation of related structures and objects but still same error....As soon as we deactivate partioning, data load would go thru easily and successfully but we want to have partioning "Active"......I was wondering if anybody ran into this issue and get it resolved...Any help or helpful hints would be appreciated...

In OWB I need to update the target table with same field for match/update

In OWb I am trying to update the target table with the match and the update on the same field can this be done. I am getting a error match merge error saying you cannot update and match on the same field. But in SQl my select is

How to automate the updating of a dimension - both members and properties

I need to automate the updqating of one of my dimensions in BPC 5.1 using SSIS. I've tried the "Admin_Makedim.dtsx" that comes with the system. It completes succesfully, but nothing is actually changed or updated in the dimension.
Has anyone sucessfully used this package? If so, does it recognize (and handle) changes to properties of existing dimension members?

I created an SSIS package that performs most of what you're looking for, including updating the XLS file. Please note, that the entire table must be updated. There is no way that I know of yet on how to update incrementally.
Below is the documentation I created for the package (pictures are omitted by the blog).

Meta data (or master data) can be updated automatically thru a daily batch job. A sample of the Excel file is below. It contains all the properties defined for that dimension. In addition, four additional system processed columns needs to be populated if this file is updated from the back-end. They are:
Calc (Y/N) Is the member a calculated field? This includes all parent members which are calculated by aggregating their children.
DimCalc (Y/N) Is the member a dimension calculation field? These are members that are represented by formulas, rather than entered, fed or aggregated.
IsBaseMem (Y/N) Is the member a Base Member, a field that is entered in manually or fed in at the lowest level of the hierarchy?
Hir Which hierarchies does the member belong to? If the member belongs to multiple hierarchies, then they are listed with semicolons. For example, a member belonging to both Parent H1 and Parent H2, would have this field filled in as: H1;H2
Location
The Excel file is located at:
C:\BPC\Data\Webfolders\[Application Name]\AdminApp\[Dimension Name].xls
When the Excel file is to be replaced, the new one should be placed and named at:
C:\BPC\Data\Webfolders\[Application Name]\AdminApp\[Dimension Name]_Update.xls
SSIS PACKAGE
Each dimension that is to be updated from the back end will have its own SSIS package for executing a back end update.
Variables
The package, one for each Dimension, has just four variables to configure
AppSet the name of the Application Set, such as Finance
DimensionName the name of the Dimension, such as IntCo
InstallDirectory the directory in which BPC was installed up to the Webfolders directory, such as C:\BPC\Data\Webfolders\
User_Server the fully qualified user that will be executing the package, such as DCC\osoftadmin
These four variables can be set rather simply within the corresponding configuration file (*.dtsConfig), or hard coded within the SSIS file itself.
Column Mappings
The package manually requires the columns between the Excel table and the internal BPC mbr table be mapped to each other. This is a rather simple click-and-drag, because the column names between the two should match. Modifications to these mapping are only necessary when the properties are modified.
SSIS TASK FLOW
The SSIS package performs the following steps when executed:
     Backs up the original Excel file with a date stamped copy
     Replaces the original Excel file with the updated version
     Clears the corresponding internal BPC mbr table
     Populates the mbr table with the values within the updated Excel file
     Clears the corresponding internal BPC dim table
     Performs a BPC full process, which populates the dim table
Logs
Transaction logs, which specify the success (or failure) of each of the above steps, are recorded and stored at:
C:\BPC\Data\Webfolders\[Application Name]\AdminApp\Logfile\

PSA still not updated to target!

Hi All,
I see some weird thing in PSA. I dont know why all PSA's since last June..still says not updated to TARGET which is still in RED request.
Whereas I can see my PSA request with RED MARK...although my data is updated in TARGET..
Anyone has an idea why??

If load to data target is successful, then PSA load Status will be turned as green (tick mark) for column request updated. In some cases, if request is not updated to data target or any error in loading to data target. Then request updated column will be displayed with red exclamation mark.
Please reconcile your data target against PSA level periodic loads.

InfoPackage don't update Data Target

I Have a general problem that InfoPacjage didn't update any data target especially InfoCube
I am using the Data Flow 3X
When I am using DTP instead I succesfuly update data target
I need to know why InfoPackage didn't update data target?

hi Mohamed,
Make sure your infopackage data target is not PSA only, there are multiple selection like PSA, Direct to Data Target.. sequencially and paralller. If that is not the issue, is your datasource emmulated DS? or it is 3.X? make sure you use the correct datasource type.. you can change that in rsds tc. Still that is not the issue, then tell us if you are getting any error? is it specific to one datasource or to others as well? try to do it in background instead of dialog. Hope that helps.

BW 3.5 - Update to PSA only / Read PSA and Update Data Target

Hi Folks,
I am planning to use on a BW 3.5 data source and infopackage that loads to PSA only (as the source system job runs quite long and we would run other prepration loads in parallel before pushed to final cube). And then later in the process chain the process Read PSA and Update Data Target to load the data to final cube.
As we plan to run the process chain 3 times a day I was wondering if the Read PSA and Update Data Target always takes only the latest request loaded to the PSA (as it is always the same infopackage) or do we have to delete the PSA request at the end of each process chain run so that not the next run will load the PSA request again as it is still in the PSA?

You are loading the Delta till the PSA, multiple times a day, and after each update to the PSA you will send the data to the Cube.
Once its there in the PSA, you are performing further tasks & then updating the cube multiple times (once after each delta)
Well, the 1st load to the cube should be OK.
But, from the next load onwards, it would pick up all the requests from the PSA & you will have wrong values in the Cube.
Because, i think, while using 'Read PSA & Update the Target', you can't set it for a FULL or a DELTA load.
It will bring in everything that exists in the PSA.
I would advice you to clean the PSA before the starting next Delta.
But, there is a counter argument.
If the data mart sign is reflected in the PSA for the request that has been loaded into the cube, then the next time the system will pick up the request which does not have a data mart symbol.
You can always give this a try in your Dev system.
