Updating CS3 to CS4, but want to keep CS3 around

I have a MacBook Pro2,2 with a 2.33ghz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 3GB of RAM. Currently, with CS3 installed I have 70GB of HD space available, but I have a 320GB WD Mac Passport Studio external HD. I'm going to upgrade to CS4, but I want to keep CS3 around. I'm concerned about having them both on my MBP HD, so I was wondering if anyone knows if I could move CS3 to my external HD once I installed CS4 onto my MBP HD? If so, would there be any technical and performance drawbacks for doing this. Thank you.

A much larger internal hard drive would probably be your best alternative, if it can be done without frying the inside of your laptop (although others here may have some good hands on experience with your scenario.
IIRC, you can only install the Suite on a drive with a working OS. And if you're thinking of using your external drive as a startup drive, it must be set up as a FireWire 400 or 800 (USB won't work). And even then, using such an external drive as your main drive will give you a slow system.
But, again, installing CS4 on that internal drive alongside CS3 will give you precious little space for OS overhead and scratch. I'd be concerned about it.
I suppose you could set up your external drive as a scratch disc, but it will be slow, as your WD drive is not optimum for a startup drive. And as you begin to fill up that drive, you're likely to have speed and other operational problems.
Laptops are compromise systems. You sacrifice speed, hard drive space, monitor quality, RAM and other expandability for something you can tuck under your arm.

Updating the iOS will Install the most current Version.
Suggest you use iTunes on your Computer to Update from 6 to 7.

You will have to try putting it in DFU mode and allowing it to update. Once it has begun, you can't stop it.

Levi G B ... Also found another thread by Davidfromsurfside on 10/14/11 0703A with the same problem. I responded on his thread "I have the same problem. IOS5 on iPad1, iPad2 and iPhone4S all with iCloud on. Lion 10.7.2 installed on my MacBookPro and iCloud set up/on. Any new iCal entry on either iPad or on the iPhone ends up via iCloud on both iPads and iPhone. BUT NOT ON THE MacBookPro. And iCal entry on the MacBookPro does NOT GET SENT to iCloud.com or to either iPad or the iPhone. This is a huge problem for me because I do all my office scheduling on the iPad or iPhone but rely on the MakeBookPro to print out daily client lists. Importing Camera Roll photos will have no impact on photos in Albums which came to the phone via previous iTunes sync with a computer.
If you want to return some of the imported photos from the computer to the phone, that can be done via a sync in iTunes. Note very carefully: each sync with iTunes sets the non-Camera Roll photos on the phone to match the current iTunes sync settings. You will not lose the songs that are in your iTunes account, it will sync them to your Nano. It will erase all the songs that are currently on the Nano as they are not in your library. If you change the settings on the Nano on her computer and set it up to manually manage your music you can then manually add the songs to her iPod without losing anything.
As I said earlier, and as you've restated, these are her songs and Apple does not provide a means on the iPod itself, or within iTunes to transfer the songs from the iPod to your computer (or to leave them on the iPod) due to music piracy reasons.
With that disclaimer you might want to use Google and look up Yamipod.

Set up new 5th generation ipod but want to keep using old4th generation one

I have just bought a beautiful new 5th gereration ipod as a gift for my partner, which I want to fill with the music from my library.
The ipod is still untouched in its box. Can anyone please tell me how to set it up for the first time, so that my itunes recognises the new ipod, but after loading it with music I can keep using itunes with my old 4th generation ipod?

Sorry, by saying it was untouched in its box I tried to describe in short that I had not done any kind of set up procedere with it. It's true, I took it out once, connected it to the computer, but nothing happened, it was not detected by the computer. I didn't think this was a problem, just thought this was normal and that I had to somehow 'set up' the ipod for the first time before I could load it with music. Now thanks to your help I know how it should have worked. I'll try the solutions offered in the article you gave me. Thanks!!

I'm trying to update my iPad 2 but an error keeps popping up after the extracting part...

im trying to update it to OS 5.0.1 or whatever, and it gets through everything until the extracting part and an error pops up. i have the most recent iTunes, i temporarily disabled the antivirus and firewall, and i reset my whole ipad... what now!

If you continue and you lose everything, you will be able to download most of the content again for free as long as you use the same Apple ID. You can read this about downloading past purchases.

But before you continue and lose everything, try this.
Eject your iPad, quit iTunes and restart your computer. Then launch iTunes and go to Edit>Preferences>Devices. See if you have mutliple iPad backups showing in there. If you have multiple backups, delete all but one of them. Also check the box at the bottom that turns off auto sync .... Prevent iPods ......Click OK and Then quit iTunes.
Connect the iPad again and launch iTunes. Right click on your iPad name on the left side of iTunes and select backup. See if the iTunes will create a backup. If it does, after it finishes, click on the Summary Pane on the right and click on check for update. Try to update again.
If it all goes OK, after you update the iOS you can back to Edit>Preferences>Devices and turn on atuo sync again - assuming that is how you want to sync.

Trying to update apps in iTunes but wrong email keeps popping up

I just recently upgraded to Yosemite and have been trying to update two apps on my desktop (iPhoto and iMovie).
I am logged into my proper account but when I click the update button it asks me to sign in with the wrong email. I have tried logging out and back in again to no avail.
I will say that the email the it is bringing up was mine, but is an old company email that I no longer have access to.
I have tried to search for a solution but they all end with having to log out and back in which I have already tried. I am sure I can log in with the old email but I want to figure out why it is picking that one up and is not letting me change it for the future.

Did you update your old iTunes account or create a new one ? If you updated the old one then try logging out of your account by tapping on your id in Settings > Store and then log back in and see if that 'refreshes' the account on the iPad. If you created a new account then you will need to continue to use the old account to download updates to its apps (or to redownload its content) - content is tied to the account that bought/downloaded it and it can't be transferred to a different account.

Hello there, hailing from Australia. I've actually read a similar topic on this problem I have. I'm using GoLive 8.0.1 and have just completed a website for a client and wish to upload it to the server. I've used GoLive everytime to publish the site. Except there is a current website on that same domain that should remain untouched and I just want to "add" a totally new site on that server so that the client can see how the new site works online. The previous topic (can't remember what it was called right now) suggested to create a new folder and just call it "New_Site" and drop all the new items into there, so if the client wishes to view it in their browser on their end, they just need to enter www.theirdomain.com.au/New_Site. Of course, I followed the suggestion based on my understanding but something tells me I must have done something wrong somewhere. I've tried that but a webpage with 404 error just appears and says it can't be found. So I tested my website on another domain which was originally empty and it works fine there. What am I missing? Please keep in mind that I'm a complete newbie to GoLive and website design. This is probably my very first site but have so far found my experience with web design not as daunting as I thought when using GoLive. Any sugesstions would be much appreciated:)

Hello There steve cameron and Tony Goodnight, thanks for your valuable insight, time and knowledge. I have followed all the steps you guys suggested but it still didn't work. I'm still at the same 404 page I encountered. I'm not sure if the forum allows screenshots but here there they are:

Take note, I did create a New_Site on the server (pic2.jpg)

Again as mentioned, I've tested the exact site and uploaded the exact file structure with no changes to file names or anything, on another web hosting server which originally has nothing on it and the site works fine there, so that should mean my website is working fine.
I've also followed the instructions from the previous topic about always emptying your cache of your browser to make sure of it can load up the changes when you type the web address into the browser but still the same 404 page.
Once again, anything would be good, thanks a lot!

Don't want to sync Podcasts, but want to keep on iPod Touch

In iTunes, I'm subscribed to quite a few podcasts. Often, I want to sync my iPod Touch notes, contacts, and calendar with Outlook, but I don't have time for the podcasts to sync. Is there a way to suspend the podcast syncing? Currently, if I uncheck boxes for syncing, the podcasts disappear from the iPod Touch. Then it takes forever to sync when I do have the opportunity.

Since you're quite a subcriber, you probably know that the sync time depends directly on the amount of changed content. It might also depend on the type of USB supported by your device. So it can certainly be an issue, depending on the circumstances.
I won't be able to take advantage of iOS5 on my device, which is one of the originals. This will eventually change, but I'm seeking a solution for the current situation. Also, data plans are expensive where I am, so I expect to be relying on USB syncing for some time.
I agree that the lengthy syncing should be done when time is not pressing, such as at bed time. I posted this thread in hopes of finding a way to defer the nonessential (lengthy) synchronizations until such time, while still being able to do the essential (brief) synchronizations when I don't have the luxury of time.
Again, I'm not sure why the two are bound together, but I suspect it is because it is far easier to code it up this way rather than to develop an algorithm for the bookkeeping of true synchronization. I mean, there's nothing to keep track of.
