Updating registry key 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/ORACLE/KEY_OraDb11g_home

We are installing 11gR2 32 bit on Window XP Professional . During the installation its stucked on given below operation (setup files operation ). I have tried multiple time , but every time it is stucking on same point (setup files operation -- updating registry key 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/ORACLE/KEY_OraDb11g_home1') . Not able to install 11gR2 on Window XP.

This appears to be a download or extraction corruption.
-Ensure the download size of the files are correct.
-Don't use Windows native extraction to unzip the files, use something like winzip or 7-zip.
-Ensure that the installation files are stored locally in a directory without spaces, such as c:\temp
-Both zip files need to be extracted into the same directory. If you end up with more that one folder (ie: database), then you did the extraction improperly.
-Do not install into c:\Program Files, install into a directory without spaces such as c:\oracle.
Possible permissions issue:
-Ensure you are an administrator on the system.
-Ensure that the Workstation or Server services are running.
-Turn-off system/virus protection
-Do the installation from the console, not remote desktop.
-Ensure failed installations are properly removed/cleaned.
- run from the command prompt the deinstall utility (Oracle De-install Utility (11.2.0.1.0) for Microsoft Windows (32-bit))

  • Cannot open Registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\SAP\NSP\Environment ?

    Hello, after installing the NetWeaver 7.01 Trial on my Windows Server 2008 I get this error:
    Cannot open Registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\SAP\NSP\Environment (Error 2 ENOENT: No such file or directory OR: The system cannot find the file specified.) [ntservmgr.cpp 306]
    Starting the server does not work, it goes from grey to yellow to grey again and I think the above error is the cause. Whats the problem?
    Thanks !

    Thank you Srikishan, I reviewed the link you provided, it solves uninstall and re-install problem for one laptop, however, we have many laptops, can't do manual registry clean up for all of them. The installation was done by mobile client silent script, needs to be successful the very first time.
    This error only happens with the very 1st installation, means fresh OS that never had any SAP, I am wondering what is the installation program trying to change in the registry, does it have to go that deep into registry? and what other components are affected by the error "Can't open registry key "HKEY_LOCAL-MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SAP\SAP DBTECH"?
    From the log, the command ran before the error was "CALL: SDBINST -b -t sapmc -f C:\Program Files\SAP Netweaver Mobile Client\MaxDB Files\sdb_MIDB_sample.cfg", is it a sample program and do we need it? is this caused the error?
    for remaining errors(many of them), there is one very odd
    "SYS: "c:\sdb\programs\runtime\7300\bin\irconf.exe" -i -p "c:\sdb\programs\runtime\7300": Error : Cannot find any installed version of CPC Driver.."
    What caused it?

  • Could not open key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\Quicktime.Quicktime\

    Could not open key HKEYLOCALMACHINE\Software\Classic\Quicktime.Quicktime\CLSID
    is the error message I recieve when attempting to install the latest version of quicktime. I attempted to delete the key and other quicktime keys from the registry but I recieve this error message:
    'Cannot delete Quicktime.Quicktime: Error Deleting Key'. I then tried to export the key and recieved this: 'selected branch does not exist. Make sure correct path is given.'
    Any help with a solution would be greatly appreciated
    HP Pavilion 751n   Windows XP

    What I would do is go to registry key and try deleting it. If it does not delete, right click on it and choose permissions. Permissions need to be allowed for at least Administrator and System. If the key does not delete, move on to the next one that is asscociated with QuickTime and delete it, and go on deleting all the keys that are QuickTime related. The one that would not delete may delete after deleting the others.
    Let me try to explain this the best I can. I am not a expert in the registry, but know enough to get in and out deleting a programs keys without having the computer become completely unfunctional. There are also books on it.
    For example when I delete a program I also go into the registry and remove it, just something I do. Because after removing a program thru the add\remove program control panel and start>search>for all files and folders, there are still registry entrees.
    When I start deleting keys in the registry from a program I'll normally run into one that won't delete, even after giving it permissions. So I'll by pass it and go on to the next key, related to the program. The one that wouldn't delete will come up again and end up deleting. So I seem to think that some of the keys inter-react with one another. Because the one that initially wouldn't delete now does after deleting the others, and sometimes giving permissions again.
    If you want to delete all keys asscociated with a program. You can go to the Edit menu in the registry, choose Find, type in the name of the program and hit the Enter key on the keyboard. When the key shows up hit Delete on the keyboard. To get to the next key associated with the program, hit the F3 key on the keyboard and the next one will appear. This can get confusing because a registry entree can show up as a series of numbers, so your counting on the registry editor that, that key is asscociated with the program. As long as you are deleting keys that are associated with a program you are OK, if you delete something in the registry that you are not sure of, that is where you'll get in trouble.
    You should try going to the path giving here to the registry. HKEYLOCALMACHINESoftwareClasses and try deleting those keys that are QuickTime and see if it resolves the problem.

  • Update registry key in Powershell

    Hi
    I want to loop through a bunch of registry keys in powershell. In one of the keys there's a value I want to change.
    I thought this would work and just return an error for all the keys where the values didn't exist
    get-childitem
    "hklm:\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E972-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}"
    | foreach {set-itemproperty
    -path $_
    -name 'ChangeMe'
    -value '22'}
    However I'm getting this errors for all the keys even where the value exists.
    set-itemproperty : Cannot find path 'C:\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E972-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\0009' because it does not exist.
    I've tinkered with Set-Location but it doesn't seem to make much difference. How can I transfer the path of the subkey to Set-itemProperty
    Cheers
    Alex

    actually it is not mapped drive, it is more like registry object.
    for example:
    set-location HKLM:\
    get-childitem "hklm:\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E972-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}" | foreach {set-itemproperty -path $_ -name 'ChangeMe' -value '22'}
    will add new property ChangeMe with value 22 to every item in this path:
    hklm:\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E972-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
    Imposible is nothing

  • Could not open key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classic\Quicktime.Quicktime\

    Help...I am getting this error message when attempting to load the newest Quicktime on my PC. I am a a novice and need detailed instructions on how to fix. I have tried uninstalling all products and reinstalling. Any suggestions?

    pgfpdwife (or really anyone else in this thread),
    Why don't you collect an installer log and send it to those lazy Apple engineers?
    Open a commnd prompt window. (Start menu -> Run. Type in "cmd". Hit return.)
    2. Drag and drop iTunesSetup.exe onto the window so that the full pathname of the file is at the command line prompt.
    3. Type in a space, then the following line:
    /l*v C:\log.txt
    4. Hit return.
    5. The installer will create a log file:
    C:\log.txt
    You need to send that file to our buddy Roy. Make sure that you include:
    (1) the log file.
    (2) the link to this thread
    (3) a one line description of your problem, i.e. "iTunes won't install because of permission problems with Quicktime registry keys".
    (4) the username that you're using here in the discussion boards.
    Roy is getting a little swamped with messages and needs to make sure he gets all the information. And if he doesn't get this informaiton, the message is just going to get dropped on the floor.

  • How to read and update Registry keys on Windows?

    I nedd to be able to read registry as well as DACL
    to set permissions on WinNT File System.
    I did that in VB, but need to do it in Java.
    Any help would be appriciated.

    I'm not sure if there is any freely available API for reading the registry. I'm really not very knowledgeable with any of the MS Windows operating sytems. I would imgaine the registry keys are compiled- that you can not access them via some plain text file, correct? Is there a DOS command for displaying the results of a particular registry query? This solution would be a hack, but if such a command exists, you could run it via the RunTime class and then parse the output. I would suggest using a search engine, if you have not all ready tried. I am sure that some API exists for reading the registry, but it might be a commerical package.... .... If you find an answer post it. I believe this question has arisen before, but I'm not sure if an answer was posted.

  • Windows Defender scan hangs at registry key hklm\software\classes\pcast

    I am having trouble with a persistent problem that is causing scanners to fail on my system, a Dell Dimension 2300 (P4 1.8Gz) running Windows xp Home Edition.
    The symptoms are that the scanner stops at a particular registry entry and, while it appears to keep scanning, (i.e. lights move), seems to get stuck in some kind of loop and can't move on. I can't access task manager from there, and when I move the mouse or attempt to escape my system freezes and I have to force a manual shutdown and reboot.
    Windows Live OneCare and Windows Defender both stop at the same location in the scan: hklm\software\classes\pcast. I looked into this and determined that this is an apple entry.
    When I navigate to the hklm\software\classes\pcast key there are 2 folders:
    DefaultIcon & Shell.
    DefaultIcon:
    Name: (ab)Default Type: Reg_SZ Data: C:\ProgramFiles\iTunes\ITunes.exe
    Shell: (ab)Default Type: Reg_SZ
    Open: (ab)Default Reg_SZ
    Command: (ab)Default Reg_SZ
    C:\ProgramFiles\iTunes\iTunes.exe/url"%1"
    If anyone can tell me whether this is causing the Defender scan to loop & then seize in some way or what I need to do to get the scanner to complete a scan, or even if this looks like there's something wrong, I'd greatly appreciate the input.
    I've tried excluding itunes from the scan but this doesn't work. I want my ipod to continue to work on this computer so don't want to disable a registry entry without knowing it won't cripple my itunes.
    Thanks in advance for any ideas that will help here.

    Is your User account on Vista also an Administrator account? Do you have User Access Control enabled? Certain registry & file access tasks which could be achieved by installers in earlier versions of Windows may now a different level of privilege or the use of different calls to the operating system. If you log into your computer as an Administrator, disable User Access Control, grant yourself & the SYSTEM account full access to HKLM in the registry and also to your Music folder then you should be able to complete the install.

    By the way,the installation process stop when it is : Copying files for ' Oracle Services For Microsoft transaction Server '
    Can any one tell me what is the problem ?
    with regards

    Well, the MTS services that is part of ODAC 11g is for Oracle DB 11g. So if you are using Oracle Database 10g, you cannot install that. Just check off the components you need to install and leave the others unchecked.

    Hi,
    I am running BPA on My Exchange 2010 VM (Server 2008 R2 VM on Hyper-V) and get the following errors:
    The 'Services' string type value located in 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ExchangeServer\v14\Setup\Services' registry key is missing or inaccessible. The Microsoft Exchange Information Store service won't start. As a result, all services that depend
    on this service won't be able to start
    Exchange server [Exchange Server FQDN] is a virtual machine but the additional tools are not installed. This configuration is not supported. Install Virtual Machine Additions for this guest.
    Problem is that, for the first, that Key exists and the service is actually running fine. And for the second my VM tools are already installed.
    Hopefully someone out there has had the same issue and can assist.
    Pete

    Hi Pete,
    For the first error message, please try the following steps:
    Make sure the Information Store service is in Starting status,
    Automatic startup type and works well, as a test we can try to
    restart the Infroamtion Store service and verify the service works well.
    Start
    Registry Editor, find the registry key “Services” under “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ExchangeServer\v14\Setup”, its value is “C:\Program
    files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\v14”(default install location), please check your registry, make sure the key “Services” exist and value is the Exchange Server install location and the
    location is accessible;
    Start
    Registry Editor, and locate the following registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Exchange\Setup
    Use the
    Permission option under the Security tab to check the permission setting on this key. Make sure
    System is in the list with Full Control permissions if the service account is Local System. If you are not using Local System as the service account, check the existence of the corresponding account in the list and ensure that
    it has Full Control permissions. Please refer to this article:
    Title: Exchange Store Does Not Start: Errors 7024, 1026, 9542, and 5000
    Link:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/285116
    Start
    ADSI Edit, and then browse to the following location:
    Domain.com/Configuration/Services/Microsoft Exchange/Org/Administrative Groups/AdminGroup/Servers/Server Name
    Right-click the
    server name, and then click Properties.
    Click the
    Security tab, make sure this own server’s server object have
    full control permission on its own server.
    If not or the object is missing, please modify the permission or click
    Add, locate the computer account for the Exchange Server computer, add it to the Permissions list with full control.
    Click OK, and then close ADSI Edit.
    Use
    Active Directory Users and Computers to add the current affected
    Exchange Server computer account to the Exchange Servers(previous version should be “Exchange Domain Servers”) group in the
    Microsoft Exchange Security Groups( or Users) OU. Refer to this article:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/297295.
    Restart the Exchange Server computer, then rerun the ExBPA.
    For the second error message, Microsoft don’t recommend to install Exchange Server on virtual machine without additional tools, so the error message occurs. We can just ignore
    this message, it will not affect the Exchange servers.

    I am very frustrated as I cannot find anything on the website to assist, and my son is going spare not being able to play runescape! Please Help

    As a possible workaround try offline installation which can be from:
    http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp
    At the same time, if the above workaround fails the exercise is little complex. If you have tried downloading update 1.5.0_xx, then likely a .msi file is saved in the location as mentioned below:
    Possible path:
    C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Sun\Java\jre1.5.0_xx
    Note: This is irrespective of installation failure or success. Replace xx with the correct version you are trying to install
    There is also a bug filed where you can submit useful information to help finding regular solution to this issue:

  • Bug with custom edm mapping without registry key

    Hello!
    I have use custom mapping for boolean type by standart scheme:
    <oracle.dataaccess.client>
    <settings>
    <add name="bool" value="edmmapping number(1,0)" />
    </settings>
    </oracle.dataaccess.client>
    But this is not working if the registry key "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Oracle\ODP.NET" doesn't exists.
    With reflector I found the reason in your internal class Oracle.DataAccess.ClientRegAndConfigRdr
    static RegAndConfigRdr()
    RegistryKey registryKey = Registry.LocalMachine.OpenSubKey("SOFTWARE\\Oracle\\ODP.NET");
    if (registryKey == null)
    return;
    string[] subKeyNames = registryKey.GetSubKeyNames();
    string assemblyVersion = OracleInit.GetAssemblyVersion();
    for (int index = 0; index < subKeyNames.Length; ++index)
    if (assemblyVersion == subKeyNames[index])
    RegAndConfigRdr.odpNetKey = registryKey.OpenSubKey(assemblyVersion);
    RegAndConfigRdr.RetrieveInfoFromConfig(RegAndConfigRdr.m_configSection, ref RegAndConfigRdr.s_storedProcInformation, false);
    RegAndConfigRdr.ValidateEdmMapping();
    I think you must correct this condition. Because of reading for mapping types is located at RegAndConfigRdr.RetrieveInfoFromConfig method.

    I will soon take a look at it, and update this thread with feedback.
    Cheers,
    Jean-Francois
    Jean-Francois-
    There's no built-in mapping to support this. One problem with it is that
    if the user mutates the Map so that the file name and the file object's
    name do not match, then that couldn't be stored to the datastore, so
    data fidelity fails in some cases.
    However, given that you are willing to accept that, you might be able to
    do this by using a "map" mapping, setting both the "key-column" and
    "value-column" to the same column, and then setting an externalizer
    on the "value-column" that stores the File object as a String. I don't
    know if this has ever been tested, but I don't see any reason why it
    wouldn't work.
    You can read more about externalizers at:>
    http://docs.solarmetric.com/manual.html#ref_guide_mapping_fieldmapping_extern
    If you do try it, I'd be interested in hearing the results of this
    mapping experiment.

    Hi all,
    is it possible to use a map mapping without a join table ?
    I face this issue for mapping a relation between two classes using a UML
    qualifier. Imagine, for instance, a SwPackage made of several File each
    having a unique name.
    The implementation model would be a SwPackage class with a Map using file
    name as key and File instance as value.
    The 'natural' data model would be
    - SW_PACKAGE table with POID surrogate key
    - FILE table with its own POID, a SW_PACKAGE_POID foreign key and a NAME
    column
    Kodo does not provide a direct mapping for this, as it would require a
    SW_PACKAGE_HAS_FILE join table holding the 'name' value.
    I am reluctant changing so much my data model to a 'non-natural' form.
    I am currently thinking of using a Set in my SwPackage class for Kodo
    mapping, and programmatically replicating its content in a Map.
    Is there a more clever way to handle this with Kodo ? Maybe with a custom
    mapping ?
