Updating Standard Cost for an Item in Item Master Data

How do you change the Item Cost field under the Inventory Data tab in Item Master Data if Standard Cost is selected as Valuation Method.  This field is greyed out.

Hi ,
If you have an inventory in the warehouse , you cannot change the item price of the standard cost .
So it is greyed out .Once you donot have inventory ,this field becomes active and you can enter the price .
Second option is from Item Revaluation .
Please test it in test environment
Thank you

  • How do I update standard cost for split valuation material?

We are using split valuation on our maintenance material.  Maintenance material is held in an inventory account separate from our production material.  We have materials that are set up with a Parent material as variable, and child materials  which are NEW or REFURBISHED or CORE.
The Child materials are set as standard cost.  Some of the standards are old.  Unlike our production materials, which have their cost standards on the Costing 2 tab of the material master, split valuation child parts have their costing on the Accounting 1 tab.
I attempted to update a cost standard by loading a future price manually in the material master.   I was able to load a future price, but could not get it to release in CK24.
I have been unsuccessful in finding a process or procedure that tells me how to update a child standard once is already exists.  There was one blog that said that the standards could only be released using CK24N if the quantity is zero.  I attemped to update costs on part with zero quantity on hand. This was also unsuccessful.
I am looking for a process- ie 1) load a future cost using tcode XYZ, 2) Mark and release cost using tcode XYZ, 3) validate changed inventory value using tcode XYZ.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.

    Hi Govind
If your valuation variant reads MAP as the strategy sequence - Then average MAP will be taken... i.e. the MAP in the parent accounting view of the material will be taken
However, if your strategy sequence is intended to look for info records, then follow the link given in the earlier reply

  • Updating Standard Cost

    Hi Everyone,
Is there anyway or any reason that the standard cost defined in the Item Master would be updated by the system?  I have a customer who claims that the standard cost for one of their items has somehow been changed and they believe the system somehow made this change.  The item is set up only as a Purchased Item.
I have gone into the Change Log for the item and printed off the Differences window for him because it appears that he changed it (he had changed the valuation method from Standard to FIFO and back to Standard).  He claims that he did not enter the standard cost, however.  I have tried to duplicate the changes he made in a Test Database to see if there is anyway to get the system to generate a change in the standard cost, and I haven't been able to do so.
It would be nice if I could send him copies of the Item Master Data - History Instances screens, but unfortunately the history screens show all of the valuation methods as Moving Average even though the Differences screen shows the valuation method going from Moving Average to Standard to FIFO and back to Standard.
Can anybody please either confirm my thoughts on the standard cost or explain how the system is changing the item cost and what method it is using to calculate the new cost?
I appreciate your help in advance.
    Thank you,
    Amanda

    Hi Amanda,
    A few points:
    - The system does not change this price on it's own.
    - Even if this was a Moving Average item it would not be updated by the system as this is not an Inventory item. FIFO and Moving Average are calculated prices, since no calculation is done it is an definition without meaning.
    - For non inventory Items (like the item you are describing) no item cost is ever calculated.
    - The price (when we are talking about a non inventory item) can be changed at any time.
    - The only method that makes sense for a non stock item is standard.
    - The standard price for these items to my knowledge would only be used as a cost price when this item is component in production bill of material and as a base price in gross profit calculation (this only works in 2007). (there might be other usage for it, but I wouldn't know of them)
    I hope this information helps.

  • Is it possible to update standard rate for an enterprise resource using CSOM

We are facing issues while updating standard rate for any enterprise resource using CSOM. The field standard rate is not available in the enterprise resource. Is it possible to update the standard rate for any resource using CSOM ?
Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hi Vikas,
You can do it via the PSI.
Please find below a blog post with a PSI code sample for updating the resources standard rate:

  • SAP allows release of Standard Cost for Material with Moving Average Price

    Hi
We set our Raw Material to use Moving Average Price (V) and price determination 2 (single level). And we activated material ledger.
During mass calculation of standard cost (CK40N), If user accidentally forgot to restrict the Raw Material for being included in calculation, the system calculate standard cost anyway, even though I set it as Moving Average Price. And user is able to release it too without any problem.
Why the system does not restrict it? By giving error maybe. Although as for now I can not find the wrong effect from releasing standard cost for MAP material, by your experience, is there any side effect that I should be aware of?
    Thanks

CK40n is mass release of all materials. The release is not dependent on price indicator of the material in the master. It will calculate standard cost of all the materials.
Releasing standard cost estimate of raw materials does not have any side effect as long your calculation is based on moving average price.

  • Proceeding without standard costing for May08 and June08

    Hi,
We have implemented Material Ledger here.
    The backlogs are on.
We are still on May08 backlogs.
We had to proceed without standard costing for May and now also for June which we would be able to finish by July 20th.
After that we will be doing the standard costing run for July 2008 by 22nd July.
I dont think we neeed to calculate and settle variances for May and June 2008.
    Please guide.
Could you please guide me on what precautions that need to be taken.
Also, when I do the actual costing (ML) run for July in August 2008, I think only the variances for July will be calculated and settled.
Any material Ledger experts, please advise and guide.
    regards,
    Nidhi

    Hi Elaine,
Thanks a lot for your reply.
    You are absolutely right.
The system will not allow me to close July in ML, unless I have closed May and June.
Also, the second option is completely ruled out. Every material has to be included in the ML run.
For carrying out ML closing activities for previous posting periods, the note no. 361236 would help. Please advise.
Also, Elaine, I am noticing that despite the fact that we did not do the standard costing run for May 2008, the system is using the standard cost estimate of April 2008 to calculate all variances.
I checked the costs analysis of all process orders and the system is correctly calculating the variances for all process orders.
So please suggest if the steps I am mentioning below are correct:
    May 2008:
I will first calculate production variance using T code KKS1
Then settle the production variance using: CO88
Then I will carry out ML run for May using: CKMLCP
    May closes in Material Ledger
    June 2008:
I will first calculate production variance using T code KKS1
Then settle the production varinace using: CO88
Then I will carry out ML run for June using: CKMLCP
    June closes in Material Ledger
Then I will do the standard costing run for July 2008.
(Also please note that we closed May and opened June in MM using MMPV, because one region is still in May backlogs while the other has started June backlogs. So the current period in MM is June and previous period is May 2008. This I guess should not have any impact on the ML run for May 2008)
Please guide me with possible reconstruction of steps.
    Thanks a lot & regards,
    Nidhi

  • Simulation of Standard cost for closed Sales order in CO-PA

    Hi Experts,
We are using sales order costing and hence when sales are booked, standard cost is flowing into CO-PA. Is there any possibility that we can simulate standard cost for closed sales order on the basis of current standard cost in CO-PA ?

  • Standard method to archive/delete all vendor master data

    Hi every abap expert
Does anyone know how to archive all vendor master data
    in a client?
If use T-code : SARA . The vendor master data is required to mark deletion flag before archiving.
Any standard T-code can set all vendor master data with  marked deletion flag ?

    Hi Boris!
Give XK99 a try. With XK06 a single change is possible and in FI also FK06 is available.
When XK99 has problems with field LFA1-LOEVM, then you can make easily a CATT for XK06.

  • LSMW Method for VD51 Customer-Material Info master data conversion

    Hi,
I am using LSMW for VD51 Customer-Material Info master data creation but can't able to find any standard BAPI, IDOC or Direct input program.
Can anybody tell me any standard way to do it or only the recording method possible for this.

    Hi,
I have done this once and used recording method in LSMW. Do the recording from LSMW itself.

  • Item Standard Cost for foreign currency purchase order

    Hi there
    I have a question about
We have foreign currency purchases of USD which is fixed in USD.
Currently, we are converting this into AUD and entering this as the standard cost.
But if the currency rate is changed, we need to adjust the standard cost of AUD even though the price of USD is still the same.
Does Oracle have standard functionality where we can enter the USD purchase price into the system and have the system rate convert it to AUD whenever we have a new exchange rate?

    Hi,
    my solutioning would be
    1. Create an Org where in item cost is maintained in US$, and perform no material transactions in this Org.
    2. Use the prog 'Copy Item Costs Across Organizations', to copy the cost from US$-Org to AUS$-Org using any conversion rate as defined (Corporate, or average etc)
Use this process on regular basis so that you have the latest coversion and cost rate.

  • OPM Process Execution and OPM Standard Costing for Poultry Business

I have a business requirement from the client at their Poultry Processing plant where the client feels that the OPM Execution steps are too cumbersome until closing the batches. The client wants to maintain minimum number of batches in Production: one for Primary, one for Secondary and one for Further Processing, rather than having multiple batches based on different formulas. There are 3 main types of processing which can be briefly described as follows:
    A.) Primary Processing:
Live Birds (Ingredient) become Whole Dressed Chicken with Neck, without Neck, Liver, Heart, etc... (40 Finished Products)
e.g. Live Birds (Broiler) -> Whole Dressed Chicken with/without neck, Whole Dressed Chicken with/without neck, etc.
    B.) Secondary Processing:
Only one type of Whole Dressed Chicken (from Primary Processing) become Chicken Cuts (80 Finished Products).
e.g.[Scenario B1] Whole Dressed Chicken (Broiler) -> Drumsticks, Thighs, Wings, Breasts, Backbone, etc.
[Scenario B2] Breasts -> Filets and Deboned Breasts (2 FGs)
[Scenario B3] Thighs -> Thighs in Plain Bag
Please note that the Whole Dressed Chicken is also sold as a Finished Good as well as an Ingredient for the Secondary Processing.
    C.) Further Processing:
Chicken Cuts become 40 Finished Products
e.g Filets -> Chicken Nuggets, Chicken Fries, etc...
The client is using Standard Costing method for its OPM Financials and all the finished products (160 Products in all) are having different production cost. Please note that 1 kg of Chicken Wings is not equal to 1 Kg of Chicken Thighs. Different body parts have different costs. In order to alleviate the maintenance of multiple batches per day on the production floor, the client wishes to have minimum batches. We therefore would wish if you can confirm the below approach to be correct?
    a.) OPM Process Execution:
    ==========================
    EITHER should I (Option 1):
a.) Create ONLY 3 Formulas for Primary, Secondary and Further Processing . The 3 Formulas will have all the processing line Finished Products grouped together (as per the scenarios explained above). Formula for Primary and Secondary Processing can also combined together, reducing it to only 2 batches to maintain per day.
b.) Can set any Quantity Values for the Ingredient, Product and By-Product in the Formula details with ANY Cost Allocation (amounting to a total of '1') in the Products section
c.) Set the Validity Rules as 'PRODUCTION' for the 3 Recipes
d.) Complete the steps defined in the 'OPM Cost Management' (as described below)
e.) Create the 2 or 3 batches and record the appropriate quantities at the end of the day before closing the batches
    OR should I (Option 2):
a.) Create MULTIPLE Formulas (above 100 formulas) for Primary, Secondary and Further Processing based on the different products processed.
b.) Can set any Quantity Values for the Ingredient, Product and By-Product in the Formula details with ANY Cost Allocation (amounting to a total of '1') in the Products section
c.) Set the Validity Rules as 'PRODUCTION' for the 3 Recipes
d.) Complete the steps defined in the 'OPM Cost Management' (as described below)
e.) Create the MULTIPLE batches and record the appropriate quantities at the end of the day before closing the batches.
    b.) OPM Cost Management:
    ========================
Whether (Option 1 or Option 2) selected, the below needs to be set for OPM Costing:
a.) Define multiple formulas (above 100), as in Option 2.
b.) Set the Quantity value to be '1' for the Ingredient, Product and By-Product in the Formula details with the appropriate Cost Allocation in the Products section
c.) Set the Validity Rules as 'COSTING' and 'PRODUCTION' for each Recipe
d.) Run Cost Rollup at least once so that the products can have an item cost per unit
As per me, for the purpose of Costing, it would be imperative to have multiple batches (created one time only) with appropriate Cost Allocation in the Formulas and the ‘Recipe Use’ in the Validity Rules should be set as ‘COSTING’. Then, setting Profile Option 'GMF: Use Only Costing Validity Rules for Cost Rollup' to 'Yes'. In this way, we are sure that the different products in the formula with correct Cost Allocation will have their Item Cost calculated after performing the Cost Rollup. AND, for the purpose of operations, we can only one combined formula of Live Birds (as Ingredients) to yield -> All FGs for Primary and Secondary Processing with Cuts. But, this time, the ‘Recipe Use’ in the Validity Rules of the Recipe should be set as ‘PRODUCTION’.
I want to confirm which approach (Option 1 or Option 2) is more appropriate in terms of Operations and confirm that the above proposed steps are correct with no circular reference (as certain finished products are also used as ingredients for another product in the Secondary Processing)?
    Thanks and regards

    Hi Raveesh
I am implementing OPM R12 in Poultry Processing business, I think option 1 (Create 3 formulas/recipes/batches) is more appropriate. In my case we are using actual costing (Moving Average) as a costing method.
I have set the profile option GMF: Cost Allocation Factor Calculation to be "Dynamic" to calculate the batch cost allocations as a ratio of actual quantity of each product produced to the total production batch output quantity and I have used OPM Financial Cost Allocation process to allocate GL expenses on different products based on Fixed percentage % according to product "value" where Filets has a return more than wings.
Can you please share your knowledge in this business area and confirm to what extend my approach is correct ??
    Thank you and best regards

  • Sync the FS Item (CX 13)  Master data in QA systems

I have requirement like this, Synchronize all new FS Items (T-Code CX13) from production to the QA and Development environments, on average there are approximately 20 new FS Items set up in a month. ( this is the reson to do this: The weekly job to update the FI GL master data from production to Dev and QA environments, does not include the ECCS FS Item master data. This causes failed testing for projects, enhancements. At this time ASSAP team manually enters the FS Item in QA environments. This is very disruptive and time consuming and causes delays in testing. )
Can you please suggest me the best way to do this.
    Thanks
    Frank

    Hi,
Any master data changes to a "non modifiable" client can be sent using one of the two options :
    1. Transport Request
    2. ALE (IDoc)
Most probably the master data change he wants to transport requires an ALE setup between the two systems.
