  • Updating template based XSLT page

    I have the following setup: a template and a few HTML pages
    based on it plus a few XSLT(.xsl) pages based on that template.
    Whenever I change the template, the HTML pages are automatically
    updated, but not the XSLT ones, even tough they appear in the list
    from the "update pages" dialog. If I load the XSLT page and choose
    from the menu Modify>Templates>Update Current Page, the page
    gets updated. If I choose Modify>Templates>Update Pages, it
    doesn't work.
    This is happening only in Dreamweaver CS4, it was working in
    CS3.
    Recreating site cache doesn't solve the problem.
    Is there any option to enable so that all the pages based on
    a template (not only the HTML ones gets updated?
    Thanks,
    Adrian.

    Mat:
    Here's my stock answer for this question -
    Here are seven common mistakes that will result in changes not propagating from Template to child -
    1.  Rename the Templates folder
    2.  Move the Templates folder to some other folder level in the site other than root level
    3.  Move a template out of the Templates folder.
    4.  Make changes to an editable region of the Template (which will not propagate)
    5.  Assume that Template changes will be effected by just uploading the changed Template file to the server without also uploading the changed local files
    6.  Corrupt the site cache so that the link between Template and child page is broken
    7.  Improperly create your child pages by simply opening the Template, adding page specific content, and resaving the Template with an *.html extension rather thanits *.dwt extension. (you can tell if this is the case by looking at the code on a child page - if you see anything like <!-- TemplateBeginEditable... then this is what you have done).  If you *have done this*, then recreate the child pages (in DW) using FILE | New > Page from Template, select the Template and click CREATE.
    The 6th problem can be repaired by using SITE | Advanced > Recreate Site Cache, and the six others can be fixed by just not doing them.  Have you done any of those?

  • Why do my templates change from page to page?

    I hope this is a basic questions...
    If I create a template using rows and colums on page one and copy and past the contents to a second page, the content will move. Is there a way to anchor the columns and rows so they do not move? It's been driving me crazy.
    Thanks much

    No i have not done that.......I will try! Thanks. I have read where a few post say try removing a screen protector to clean. I do not have one but I did get a new screen due to me carrying it in my bag and the corner cracked a bit. Could the new screen be the problem??

  • Template changes don't update the linked pages

    I change the template.
    I hit Save.
    It asks me if I want to Update the pages that use that template.
    I say yes to Update.
    It says they are updated.
    However the pages do not change on the site.
    The weirdest thing is that, after they have Updated, I can Get one of those Remote pages, and it DOES have the changes. But they don't show on the live site.
    I have to go through and select each page that was affected and hit Put.
    Any ideas why?
    Do I have a wrong setting or something?

    I have to go through and select each page that was affected and hit Put.
    That's exactly how DW Templates work.  You must PUT files after each change to the main template file.  On medium sized sites, this can get tedious.  If you want to improve your site, look at Server-Side Includes. They are a huge time saver.

  • DreamWeaver Template change not updating children webpages?

    Hi Group,
    Sorry for my newbie question here.
    I loaded an HTML webpage, and saved it out as a DreamWeaver Template file.
    I then created webpages from the template file (( File - New - Page From Template - Site - Template), and made sure that the "Update Page when Template Changes" check box was selected/checked.
    I then created several chldren webpages, and saved them as .html files.
    I decided to change the navbar system - part of the uneditiabel region in the template - by opening the template file and edit-ing that file, and then saving it as the same DreamWeaver template file.
    However, the webpages did Not Update to reflect the navbar changes in the template fle !??!???
    Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?
    I believe it is something that I'm doing incorrectly with DreamWeaver ..
    Here is the HTML if anyone is interested.

    Additional Info:
    No -I haven't been able to get the DW Template feature to work on other sites - this is my first application of it to a website (actually it's the whole reason for getting DreamWeaver... I know it works, I know that I'm doing something wrong.. I just don't know what it is...)
    All the .HTML files (index.html, cad.html, cam.html, etc. etc.)  are in the website's root directory.
    The Template file is in its own sub-directory folder named "Templates".
    Right now even the .css file is in the root directory....
    Thank You for trying to help me -  I greatly appreciate it.
    Joe

  • Template changes will not propogate out to the child web pages in the defined site.

    I have a user in my organization who regularly makes changes to a dreamweawer template in order to universally change content on pages that are internal to her office.  The site that serves her office has been defined in dreamweaver (we're running dreamweaver CS4).  Normally, after saving the template changes on her way out of the dw session, she would be asked whether or not she wanted to propagate her template changes out to all of the child web pages (.htmls) in her site.  This has stopped happening and sure enough she can see that the change doesn't exist on the child pages.  Does anyone know why this might have happened, how to restore that prompt for propagation or, most importantly, how she can get those changes propagated to the child pages?

    That may be an eventuality, particularly assuming I'm never able to work on this fulltime...which is likely. =)  Anyway, thanks so much for the link.  We'll try this again.  Hopefully, you'll be able to read it.  Even if it's clear, it may still just be clearly ugly, but please let me know what you think.  Thanks!:

  • Remembering Template Changes for second page

    I have adapted the San Fransisco Letter template to suit my own needs, copying my own logo, and updating the address details. I have then saved the new template, and it appears in My Templates - so far so good! I have noticed though that when I go to a second page in my letter, the original San Fransisco Template appears - with the incorrect logo and address. Am I missing something? Is there a way for my Template changes to carry over to the second page? Thank you very much.

    Gwyn,
    Okay, now we're getting somewhere. The address area you're referring to is already defined as a master object. Here's what I did: I put my own address in that object, moved my cursor to the end of the page, then added a page break. Like your situation, the master object repeated on the next page (as a master object will), but it repeated with template information, and not the address I put in. That's what's happening to you. So I started over. I put in my address, moved my cursor to the end of the page, but instead of adding a page break, I added a section break -- voilá. It worked.
    What confused me for so long is that master objects usually just look for a page break in order to repeat. For some reason, yours is looking for a section break. Go figure. Anyway, now we know how to fix it. Good luck.

  • When I update my template my other pages aren't updating

    Why are my pages not updating when I update my
    template?

    Here are seven common mistakes that will result in changes
    not propagating
    from Template to child -
    1. Rename the Templates folder
    2. Move the Templates folder to some other folder level in
    the site other
    than root level
    3. Move a template out of the Templates folder.
    4. Make changes to an editable region of the template (which
    will not
    propagate)
    5. Assume that template changes can be uploaded to the server
    without also
    uploading the changed local files
    6. Corrupt the site cache so that the link between template
    and child page
    is broken
    7, Improperly create your child pages by simply opening the
    template,
    adding page specific content, and resaving the template with
    an *.html
    extension rather that its *.dwt extension. (you can tell if
    this is the case
    by looking at the code on a child page - if you see anything
    like <!--
    TemplateBeginEditable... then this is what you have done)
    The 6th problem can be repaired by using SITE | Advanced >
    Recreate Site
    Cache, and the six others can be fixed by just not doing
    them. Have you
    done any of those?

  • Dreamweaver CS5 - Update Template Files after viewing the page in a browser

    Hi
    Just a quickie I hope someone can help me with.
    My site has been created using a Template. Everytime I look at a page in a browser, I get the UPDATE TEMPLATE FILES. Clicking update or don't update has no effect so I'm wondering why this message keeps appearing and how to stop it. I usually use Firefox on Windows 7 but it seems to happen with any browser.
    Any suggestions?
    Many thanks George

    Hi Murray
    This is erratic. I don't get it all the time but enough of the time for it to be an annoyance. If I've made a change to content in DW then chosen the Preview in Browser option then exited the browser to return to DW, the alert appears. And it has happened to my delegates in training sessions when they have repeated the same process but with IE.
    As I said, it doesn't happen all of the time - we seem to get a run of it then nothing.  For example, I was plagued with it all day yesterday but it hasn't occurred once today!!!
    Anyway I have temporarily published the site and here is the link - http://www.gbft.co.uk/orchestra/index.html.
    Many thanks
    George

  • Template changing DOCTYPE on associated pages

    I simply do not get this.  Why is dreamweaver changing the top portion of my pages after updating the template.  Let me try to explain this better...
    Template top of page looks like this:
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">
    <head>
    <link rel="icon" href="../favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon">
    <link rel="shortcut icon" href="../favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon">
    <META name="verify-v1" content="AfvIuRXzpXMo/nQM4FUu7Nsr38+3VooCoX60nvN3yvU=" />
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" />
    <title>School District #22 International</title>
    <script src="../Scripts/AC_RunActiveContent.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    Now after updating my template and saving.... it updates all the pages associate... and then changes the top portion to this:
    <!-- InstanceBegin template="/Templates/templateI.dwt" codeOutsideHTMLIsLocked="false" --><!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">
    <head>
    <link rel="icon" href="../favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon">
    <link rel="shortcut icon" href="../favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon">
    <META name="verify-v1" content="AfvIuRXzpXMo/nQM4FUu7Nsr38+3VooCoX60nvN3yvU=" />
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" />
    <title>School District #22 International</title>
    <script src="../Scripts/AC_RunActiveContent.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    So then when I try to enter a new banner image, or something that requires inserting.... into an edible region of the page... I get error messages saying it is not containing the DOCTYPE.
    I went into each page with wordpad and changed it all back, to match the template (by hand!)  Now I see it has switched the pages all back.
    I appreciate the help, as I am stumped.  Never happened before.

    Thank YOU Murray, I seem to be still getting something wrong.
    I did find the missing <html> before I left work for the day.  I have no idea how that disappeared!
    I did as you said... save the template file as a "File As a Template"
    Took the all the code from the top to the bottom of the </head> tag and copied and pasted over the other original template.
    I am not sure that it actually worked.  You see I am trying to use a banner on different pages on this website... Just purchased from Ajatix.
    the banner is not working on the pages... will not allow me to insert banner within the page... locked by template.  Ajatix said I must have edible region within the head of the template..... (when I try to "insert.... template object.... edible region" it bounces around and will not go into the head portion.
    The code I copied/pasted from the new template to the original template is this?  Sorry that I am confused over this...
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">

  • How do I change the template size in pages on my iPad

    How do I change the template size in pages on my iPad I've looked every where for the answer.
    Please help I'm trying to make a program

    You can't. Those are functions of the the template.

  • Ask your question.How do I change the template for a pages document

    How do I change the template for a pages document?

    Once you've opened it, the opened document is no longer a template. Edit it as you would any other Pages document.
    If you want to use the edited document as a Template, then , after editing, go File > Save as Template, give the new template a name, and click Save.
    The old template will remain available in the location where you found it; the new one will be in the My Templartes sectionof the Templates Chooser.

  • Change all page templates in one go

    Hi,
    Is it possible to change all page templates in all applications in 1 go, we have 100s of applications and want to change the titile tag from <title>#TITLE#</title> to <title>#TITLE# - #APP_VERSION#</title>
    Thanks in advance.
    Graham

    As i understand you need to change all Your aps by changing the templates ?
    The fastest way is to change the actual sources of the templates if You've got permission to do that.
    the table i witch the templates are is wwv_flow_templates
    There will be need for clob utilities but it's possible

  • Updating the template's (child) pages on the server - Mac - CS6

    Folks,
    I'm updating my template.  When I save this updated template, all the child pages on my computer will automatically update. To then update the pages on the server, is there any short cut? Do I have to load each child page individually?

    You have to upload all the child pages.  If you're updating the entire site, just click on the site folder in your Files Panel window (F8) and click the UP arrow to PUT site files to server.
