Updating the iphone fails.. hard
Heyas, I tried to update to the latest OS for the iPhone today, and while it was installing and doing it's thing, the itunes program crashed, leaving the iphone stuck in the "plug me into itunes" mode, and has been ever since. So my questions is clearly, what am I supposed to do now to make the phone usable again?

Does this work for windows Vista as well? Since it was a guide for Mac OS.
Doing a couple tries atleast.
Doesn't seem to work at all, I'm in the UDF mode, or atleast the screen went black and wont come back on. So it's not recovery mode. But nothing happens in itunes.

Standard troubleshooting...
1. Try a Restart by pressing the sleep/lock button until you see the slider. Slide to power off. Restart by pressing the sleep/lock button until you see the Apple logo.
2. Try a Reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
3. Remove apps from Recently Used (multi-tasking) list...
- From any Home Screen, double tap the home button to bring up the Recents List
- Swipe up on the app preview card to remove it from the list
- Press the home button when done.
4. If still a problem restore with your backup.
5. If still a problem restore as new, i.e. without your backup. See how it runs with nothing synced to it.
6. If still a problem, it's likely a hardware issue. -
How do I find all the purchased items on my iPhone? When I try to update the iPhone iOS while connected to my MacBook it says there are purchased items on the phone that have not been transferred to my iTunes library and that I should transfer them before updating.

(someone else put in their username and password. so i had lots of apps that i had to eliminate but do NOT wish to compromise the contact list) time for me to update the iphone. downloaded itunes onto pc. plugged in iphone and waiting for prompt to show phone. pc thinks it is the camera. how do i get itunes/pc to recognize iphone ? then, how do i backup contacts and proceed before updating iphone?

Hi, I have the iPhone 4, 32GB, version 4.3.5 (8L1) and for some reason when I connect it to the laptop, it starts synchronising but never goes beyond step 1. It goes on syncing forever, without actually doing anything. I have tried everything, wiped the phone numerous times, deleted all files from the laptop but still no resolution. As a result, the phone does not really synchronise.
This started somewhere in May 2011 when I upgraded what proved to be a problematic s/w version and the phone has not recovered since.
Now I cannot update the iPhone s/w any longer.
Any clue?You may have to try deleting all the music from your phone (by going to Settings>General>Usage>Music, swipping All Music and tapping Delete), then sync it all back on with iTunes in order to fix this.

You need to be running Mac OS X 10.6.8 or newer to sync the iPhone 5; this may require buying a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD from the online Apple Store. OS upgrades aren't covered by the warranty.

Interesting question, beachn! If I understand correctly, you're trying to see how long it will take to update the software/operating system of an iPhone 4. If that's the case, the during of a software update will depend greatly on the speed of your computer and/or your phone. I've seen the process vary from 4 minutes to an hour. If I did not understand correctly, please describe what you mean by update. Thanks!

Hi, I have just tried to update the iPhone software and it appears to be updating but the screen on my phone has had the same picture of the apple and its at the same spot of loading (about 3 quarters) for the last HOUR!! help!
oh and the device is not being recognised by itunes now either.

Hi, Yes, I bought new sim (64k) from Airtel gallery...and now i'm on version 5.1.1...Sometimes it works but if i turn on the 3g then the network went down and showing me a "NO SERVICE" error...i have to wait till the network come...it's a headche..I think i have to go again in gallery and want to ask for new sim with 128k...Any suggestions on this plz?
