Upgrade available if you are changing platforms?

I am changing from a PC to a Mac.  Will I be able to upgrade from my lightroom 3 on my PC to a lightroom 4 on MAC?  Thank you!

Lightroom licenses are multi-platform. One license can be installed on up to 2 computers: Win and/or Mac using the same serial number.
So all you need is a regular upgrade version of LR4 and use the same serial number to activate.

  • "There are no shares available or you are not allowed access them..."

I'm admittedly a bit rusty, last time I set up a Mac OS server was 10.4. I'm having a huge problem setting up basic file sharing and it's driving me nuts!
For testing and trouble shooting I've set up a single share, a single user and added that user to a single group. I enabled all services for the user. I then set the POSIX permissions on the share to read and write for the user and the group. I also tried additional ACL permissions to full control. No matter what I do I still get "There are no shares available or you are not allowed to access them on the server". I can log on any admin account with no problems, but I can't get standard accounts to connect! I've tried stopping and starting AFP service with no change. I've re-read all the AFP and permissions sections of the admin guides and the server essentials book. From what I can tell this should all be working. What am I missing?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Jason
    +"What am I missing?"+
SACLs perhaps? What are SACLs? Service Access Control Lists. Where are they? Server Admin > Server Name > Settings > Access. After installation 10.6 Server (by default) toggles Access for all users to the more limited setting below it.

Applying note 123383.  Got SSCR keys from SAP to modify the identified tables.
When trying to save changes, get error message "You are changing a function group which does not belong to you".
I changed Function Group ownership to myself, but still get error message.
Anyone have an idea how to resolve?

Just in case... did you do the following?
"If, when you are maintaining certain views, the error message DS138 'Changes prohibited by user ... ' or error message EU522 'Changes to ... are prohibited by ... ' is generated, remove the <b>editor lock</b> from programs L0GFNTOP and L0GFPTOP as described in Note 37900."

  • HT202696 What happens if Apple Support expires for a product?  Does it mean there is no more help available and you are on your own just because you have an older Apple product?

We have a family of Apple products at home, and with every new one, we learn a new aspect of the Apple Life.  After switching to iPhone 5S and struggling between some applications, I've decided it is time to upgrade rest of my older devices requesting an IOS Upgrade to 8.1.2 for weeks.
My older iPhone 4 didn't have an upgrade, which was not advanced enough anymore to carry a new software, this I understand.  The upgraded iPod Touch and iPad Mini don't seem to have any problems with the recent changes so far.  However, the older iPad (2) we had is messed up, just like many other people's as mentioned on the pages of these discussion groups.  According to these user comments / complaints, it is obvious that upgrading to IOS 8.1.2 was not the right option to older version iPads just like it was not for iPhone 4; actually it shouldn't be an option in the first place.
On my previous problems with iPhone 5S, I've come to realise the practicality & functionality of the Apple Support system when contacted directly, instead of going through many discussion pages of people with same or similar problems where everybody is asking but just a few is replying.  So, I wanted to give it a try to find a solution to my recent problems with iPad, but this time Apple Support pages replied with "Technical Support & Service Coverage are both Expired" message.
First, I did not know that Apple supported its users personally, and I loved it.  Maybe this is because I didn't have previous problems with my old iPhone and iPad.  Especially the Apple Support - Chat option I preferred, where I got help step-by-step from Apple operators.  And then, I did not know that this service support was only for my devices until an expiration date, and this did not please me much.
Can anyone enlighten me on how to receive any response from Apple about what to do with problems of an old Apple device?

And as far as paying for phone support, here are a few tips:
If you call your carrier first and then they route you to Apple, you usually don't have to pay for phone support.
If you are talking to Apple and they ask you to pay a support fee, ask if you can get an exception this time.  That usually works once, but they keep track of the times you've been granted such an exception.
If you still end up paying the support fee, that fee only applies if it's not a hardware related issue.  In other words, if it can be fixed by just talking over the phone and following Apple's instructions, then the fee applies.  But if your device is deemed to have a hardware failure that caused the issue, then the fee should not apply, and you can ask for it to be waived after the fact.
This forum is free, and almost all of the technical support articles the Apple tech advisors use are available on this website.  Literally 99% of what they can do over the phone is just walking you through the publicly available support articles.  In other words, you're paying the fee to have them do your research for you.  It's like hiring a research consultant to go look stuff up in the public library so you don't have to.  You're capable of doing it; you'd just rather pay someone to do it for you.
It's like Starbucks.  You know how to make coffee.  Everyone knows how to make coffee.  And Starbucks coffee isn't any better than what you could make at home for far less.  But you want the convenience.  So you're really paying a convenience fee.  Milk is more expensive at 7-Eleven than it is at the grocery store... because it's a convenience store.

  • What is the deal with a upgrade fee if you are renewing your contract?

  • Recover Replication Environment when we are changing Hardware

    Hi All,
I have posted this question in Database Replication head but didn't receive any reply thats why I'm posting the same question here too.
I've implemented replication between two locations in oracle 9i and it is working perfectly alright for last one year. Now at one location (at snapsht site) I have to change the server hardware and I have to put a new IBM server. I'll have to install Oracle 9i on new Server but I think if I export data from old server and if I import it in new server then I believe replication will not work.
what is way to use the same replication setup on new server without doing setup of creating Master site on one server and snapshot site on new server.
I think I'm clear in my question.
    Thanks
    Praveen Arora

Are you changing hardware platforms as well as the hardware? Or are you going from one AIX box to another?
If you have the downtime window, and you are staying on the same operating system, the easiest option would generally be to shut down the snapshot database, do a cold backup, restore the backup to the new server, and start up the snapshot database. If you don't have the downtime window for this, or you are changing operating systems, you'd generally be looking at rebuilding the snapshot database on the new server and having two different snapshot databases running for some period of time before you do the cutover.

  • Dolby Digital Live upgrade availability for SB Audigy us

    Hello everyone,
We understand SB Audigy users are eagerly anticipating the Dolby Digital Li've upgrade availability. We are still working on the development. Unfortunately, the work requires more time than anticipated earlier due to the difference in the Audigy product architecture vs the X-Fi product architecture as well as testing required to ensure stable and correct functionality. We estimate Dolby Digital upgrade for Audigy to be available in late Dec 2008. We apologize for the delay and are trying our best to release earlier if possible.
    Thank you,

  • Is there an upgrade available from FCE 4 to Final Cut Pro?

I have FCE 4 and want to buy FCP now. Do I have to buy Final Cut Studio for $999? Is there any upgrade available?

You might benefit from calling the store of the maker of Final Cut Pro and ask for a credit if you happened to purchase FCE there...

  • Upgrade Album2 - Elements 6, with change of platform and computer

I posted this in Album Forum but it has been suggested that I repost in Elements Forum as anyone who has already had the same question is probably already here:
I have searched the forums and knowledge base for the issue that faces me and while there is a lot of very useful information most deals with one aspect alone or circumstances that are slightly different - unless I have missed one.
I currently have Album 2 (full version) with about 5000 photos along with tags etc, running on Windows XP.
I have just purchased a windows Vista Home Premium machine and Elements 6/Premiere 4. I wish, obviously, to transfer the photos and files along with thumbnails/catalog to the new machine. In doing this, it appears that I am doing three things that are not necessarily straight forward:
    (1) Transferring machines where the directory structure is not the same
    (2) Transferring platform from XP to Vista
    (3) Upgrading to Elements 6 which I understand does not use the same catalog structure and file locations as earlier versions of Elements.
So, while there are useful forum posts on upgrading, say, between album and elements 4, the changes between Elements 4 and 6 make me a little wary. I can pick up individual KB articles and posts on individual stages but I would be grateful for any advice from those who know more, or have done the same, on the order or actions to get between Album 2 XP to Elements 6 Vista. I suspect that done properly it is no major drama but done poorly is a recipe for long agony!
Thanks for any and all advice.

    jabro,
I am not sure what to suggest next -
1- You could contact Adobe tech support and ask for the complimentary installation support for PS Elements version 6 and describe your Catalog upgrade problem.
2- Because you are upgrading from PS Album to PS Elements 6, I think that most of your Creations will not be usable in PS Elements 6. So I am wondering about your creating a new copy of your catalog in PS Album 2 and deleting all of your Creations from that copy of your catalog?
My objective here is to simplify your PSA 2 catalog as much as possible. I don't know if it is the Creations that cause a problem in the conversion: it is merely that if you can not use them anyway they are a good candidate for deletion.
3- I wonder if some specific type of file or even a specific file is a problem. What type of photo files do you have in your PSA 2 catalog? Any video files and what type?

  • Do not apply the latest upgrade to LR 4.2 if you are using PS5

Do not apply the latest upgrade to LR 4.2 if you are using PS5. The latest LR update used Raw 7.2 which is not available in CS5.
Wish I had a was to go backward. LR 4.2 was working fine until the latest upgrade.
Wish I had not done it. NOW I am back to all the problems I had when I first installed LR4.0.
Plus I am swamped with work through the Dec. So no time to spend days on the phone with support.
Afraid to upgrade to PS6 as I cannot  aford any additional issues. Have lost my faith in adobe.

There is nothing wrong with LR, it always works one way with whatever is the contemporary Photoshop version., and another way with all other software. CS5 is not the contemporary version with these newer Lightroom versions, CS6 is.
If you have the latest PS as well as the latest LR, then the "Edit in Photoshop" command gets ACR to process the file, using LR settings.
If you have different software or older software, either that cannot happen, or else is not certain to happen 100% compatibly. So a different method is used, as JimHess says: getting LR to render the file properly, instead of getting ACR to have a go (and perhaps get some things wrong).
If you get a dialog box warning about ACR compatibility, you need to select "Render using Lightroom" rather than "Open anyway".
If you no longer get this dialog (you have checked "don't show again") you can make it show again using the LR PReferences / general tab / "Reset all warning dialogs" button. That lets you select the proper option.
The only caveat here, is that with this "render using LR"  method, the converted file has already  been named and saved to disk before you see it in PS. This means that when you finish your edit, you must Save the results to the filename already assigned, not to another name. Then LR will be looking in the right place, to see your PS edits. This also means that even if you don't save changes at all from PS, LR will still show a new image version anyway (unlike with the other method via ACR).

  • Can no longer print from Photoshop CS^ have upgraded drivers error message reads There was an error opening your printer. Printing functions will not be available until you have selected a printer and reopened any documents."

I have upgraded my iMac to Yosemite but now my two Canon Printers no longer print from Photoshop CS6. I have upgraded the drivers. All other applications including Lightroom are fine. I am receiving an error message as follows:"There was an error opening your printer. Printing functions will not be available until you have selected a printer and reopened any documents." How can I get the OS to return a list of printers to Photoshop when Photoshop requests a list.

Have you printed to this printer from 10.10 before?  If so, check your connections.
