Upgrade from Crystal Enterprise 9 to Crystal Server 2011

As I know, the latest version is Crystal Server 2011 which is a part of the Business Intelligence platform 4.0.  Is it correct ?
The manual says that Crystal Enterprise 9 CANNOT upgrade to Crystal Server 2011 directly.  It needs 2 steps.
Crystal Enterprise 9  -
>  Business Object XI R2  -
>  Crystal Server 2011
But I cannot find any trial version of Business Object XI R2.  How can I test the upgrade?
Is there other method to upgrade?  E.g. transfer the oracle database to the new system?
Regards,
Kelvin

If you are paying maintenance, you should be able to ask for a key for XIR2 version.

  • Cannot connect from iMac to Windows Home Server 2011 shares

    Hi guys,
I am having dificulties connecting from iMac to Windows Home Server 2011 shares.
First of all it takes so long time to discover the share in iMac, which it's called "mediaserver". After finding it i cannot connect and gives "Connection Failed: message. If i choose "Connect As.." option i wait some time and then pops out with an error: "There was a problem connecting to the server "mediaserver". The server may not exist or it is unavailable at this time. Check the server name or IP address, check your network connection, and then try again."
If i try from Finder -> Go -> Connect to Server ... write in Server Address : smb://mediaserver it fails. But if i write the IP address, like: smb://192.168.1.42 it works after couple of tries. If i try now to Make an Alias for the share i get "The operation can't be completed. An unexpected error occurred (eror code -8060)."
Has anyone experienced these problems ? I have updated to Mac OS X version 10.7.3. Could that be the problem ?
Any help will be much appreciated.
    Thank you in advance,
    Simi

You need to reinstall the updated WHS connector for Mac.  You should then be able to access your shares on WHS 2011.
The problem I'm having is I can't get Time Capsule to recognize the WHS 2011 mapped folders that show up on the desktop as a drive, so Backup won't work.

  • Crystal Enterprise 10 CMS Server not coming up

    Hello,
I am getting errors while trying to start Crystal Enterprise 10 on UNIX. The CMS server does not come up. I turned on the trace for the startup script and below is the error log. Can someone help me diagnose the issue please. If this is due to corrupt registry or corrupt objects, can I just restore from backup of the registry directory and restart?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    Try these,
    1. Check whether the JDK version is an appropriate one and complete installation is done. Necessary entries of JAVA_HOME path is done in the Environment Variable.
    2. Increase the heap size through Configtool of the J2EE Engine. After setting, restart the server.
    3. Have the virtual memory increased.
Consider awarding points to helpful answer.

  • Upgrading from 7 to 9 and server monitor

We just upgraded from cf7 to cf9 and are getting a message in the server monitor that is is unavailable in this version. Our server is Windows 2003 and IIS6 with the standard edition.
It appears to be the issue covered by this tech note
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/527/cpsid_52797.html
The files in the tech note though are for cf8, which we never had, so I'm not sure if it will work (and I'm a bit leery to experiment on a production server).
    Matt

We did not do a 30 day trial install, if that is what you mean.
We did make a clone of the production server (since it is a vm) and installed it. The server monitor was not something we looked it. Our configuration has some quirks in that we process htm and html requests thru cold fusion. So that was the main focus and debugging nature of our testing. We also had some data source issues.
The server monitor is something we didn't have in 7, so I was just "checking it out" now that we are live on production.

  • Upgrade from Tiger (client) to Leopard Server

    Hi all,
I have a client with an existing dual G5 box they have running Tiger. They use it as a file share primarily but want the extra functionality of the server OS (viz Leopard server). Is there an upgrade path from OS 10.4 client to 10.5 server or is it a backup/format/restore process for the data? Thanks in advance for any replies.
    Cheers
    Si

Well, I can offer my opinion on best practice, other opinions may vary.
In the past, you have been able to upgrade client versions to server. I believe this creates a new System folder. In any event, the client OS and the server OS are not the same thing with different features, There are some functional differences. So if you plan to use the Mac as a client and a server, I'd really recommend against that. I'd also recommend erasing the HD and installing the Server OS on a clean HD.

  • Upgrading from SBS 2008 and Exchange Server 2007 and Adding Modest Failover Protection

I haven't seen anyone describe this scenario, so maybe it can't be done, but it seems it should work. Can someone either confirm this is viable or set me straight and tell me it's not wise (and if not, why not).
I currently have SBS 2008 (2008 Server + Exchange Server 2007 + some other components). I use redirected folders so all my user data is stored primarily on the server, and then sync'd with their local harddrives for roaming use and as an additional
backup precaution. I want to upgrade to a modern version of Exchange (don't care too much about the underlying server OS, but seems like a good time to upgrade everything). I also want to improve the reliability for rapid recovery in the event of a system
failure. I have always felt nervous with SBS because it only runs on a single server.
    My plan is:
Install Windows Server 2012 Standard on a new server machine
Join that new server to the existing SBS domain and sync the users, etc.
Install Exchange Server 2013 on the new 2012 Server
Migrate the existing Exchange data and account info to the new server
Demote the SBS Server and promote the new server to primary DC
Reformat the old SBS server and install Windows Server 2012 on it too, and join it to the domain as a second DC
Set up DFS Replication and keep all my user data folders between the two servers (so if one server fails, the other can take over, just not automatically like with a cluster)
Install Exchange Server 2013 on the reformatted 2012 Server box (so second instance on the domain) and set it up to sync with the first Exchange Server 2013 via DAG (so if either computer crashes, the other can take over for both Exchange Server and file
    services)
Wouldn't that give me a complete slow-response failover system without the need for setting up a cluster (I know a cluster would provide instant failover protection, but I don't need that kind of speed - a manual switchover in the rare event of a server
failure is acceptable for us)? I could do this using cheap hardware for each server, because unless both servers fail at the same time, clients can point to the other server. And because it's not a formal cluster, I don't need to buy anything for a shared
SAN. This seems like such an obvious more cost-effective solution for a small network, I don't understand why this isn't a common approach, which makes me wonder if there is some reason it won't work.
Any suggestions or feedback? Are Redirected Folders still recommended for users on a Server 2012-based domain?
    Thanks,
    Colin
    Colin

Ed, thanks again for your help. OK, so here's my updated plan (I realize I should probably check on some of these pieces on the Server group, instead of this Exchange group).
    Constraints/objectives:
None of the machines are truly server grade hardware, but only 5 people on the network, so performance is generally not an issue, unless a given server is just pegged on CPU or HD due to its own internal maintenance tasks and can't respond to user requests.
Haven't seen any problems, since upgrading server from 4GB RAM to 8GB a few years ago.
Not going to buy any new hardware at this time, but do have several unused consumer-grade computers I can deploy as wimpy or moderate servers.
Main issue is to limit repair time in the event of a system failure (instant failover is not required, but want to be able to restore network functions within less than 24 hours in the event of a hardware failure) and minimize time spent on IT
    maintenance.
Because of light IT maintenance (not anyone's primary job and we're too small to justify a dedicated IT person or to pay for outside help), almost every touch takes me research and time to re-learn what I haven't done in weeks, months, or years -- so also
want to keep all IT tasks as simple as possible.
We philosophically want to invest now for the next 5 years and avoid ongoing cloud fees (so zero interest in Windows Server Essentials with Exchange Online)
A little nervous about using VM's, just because I never have before, but I do respect that's probably the right way to do many of these things...
Currently I have SBS 2008 (Windows Server 2008 R2, Exchange Server 2007, WSUS 3, all with latest SP's, also includes SharePoint and other stuff, but I don't really care about most of it) on a single 8GB consumer grade system, which functions as a file
server and Exchange server. We use Redirected Folders and Offline files for all users, which works great for us and provides additional file redundancy (if server goes down, all of each user's files are also on their own machine and they can even continue
to work just fine w/o the server, losing only ability to send and receive e-mail). It has been sufficient, but I want to upgrade our version of Exchange and I am nervous that if that current one server fails, it would take me a long time to restore everything
from backup, easily many days, especially if I need to buy any replacement hardware. It is RAID1, so a single drive failure is easy to handle, but that's the only hardware redundancy for the current server.
    New Plan:
Install Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard on a new modest machine (16GBR RAM, Core i7, 1TB RAID1 (may upgrade to 3 or 4 TB), 256 GB SSD boot drive, this had been my old personal computer)
Join that new server to the existing SBS domain (2008 R2/Exchange 2007), make it a DC, sync the users, etc.
Install Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard on a wimpy computer (4GB RAM Core i3 processor), leave it as a member server
Install Exchange Server 2013 on the wimpy new 2012 R2 Server (and nothing else, this will be dedicated to Exchange to make the most of such a wimpy machine)
Migrate the existing Exchange data from the old SBS Exchange 2007 server and account info to the new server
(or should I just create new accounts and copy the data from the user end through Outlook -- is that safer and cleaner than attempting any kind of server-level Exchange data migration?)
Demote the old SBS Server and promote the new 16GB server to primary DC. Now it's OK to take the old SBS server off the network.
Reformat the old SBS server and install Windows Server 2012 R2 on it too, and join it to the domain as a second DC (and possibly DCPROMO it to be the main server)
Install Exchange Server 2013 in a VM on the reformatted 2012 R2 Server box (so second instance on the domain for Exchange redundancy) and set it up to sync with the first Exchange Server 2013 via DAG OR set up another physical wimpy member server and install
it there. In any case, do NOT install Exchange directly on either DC.
Set up DFS Replication or a Failover Cluster (still need to research this, but I had planned on DFS, thinking Cluster required shared drive, but Ed corrected me on this) between the two DC's for redirected files and keep all my user data folders between
the two servers. We don't need automatic failover, like with a cluster, a manual switch would be acceptable, but if no additional cost or risk to clustering the two DC's, then the auto-failover protection that provides would be better than DFS.
I think this incorporates all of your points, Ed. Does this sound right now? What's your advice on #5 (how to best migrate user data)?
Thanks so much for all your help,
    Colin

  • Upgrading from Connect Enterprise 8 to 9, but switching servers as well

    Hi,
I was wondering if I could get the recorded meetings from the server that currently hosts version 8 and put them on the new server? Does anyone know where those files are located, and are the recorded meetings one file?

it was in beta testing and if you read the forum on avids website it would have told you. when you have pro tools 9 it should work.

  • Upgrading from Crystal Enterprise 10 to Business Objects Enterprise 11

    Here's the situation:
We decided to upgrade from Crystal Enterprise 10 on server A to Business Objects Enterprise 11 on server B. We went with the method of importing all the objects and users from Crystal Enterprise 10 to Business Objects Enterprise 11. The import also brought in all the DB connection settings that were set in Crystal Enterprise 10. I also brought over all the ODBC System DSNs so that those can be consisten with the old server.
The problem we are having is that the reports are failing due to the connections to the database. I thought importing the database connection settings from Crystal Enterprise 10 along with bringing over the ODBC System DSNs would not make this an issue but it hasn't.
I checked the server logs in SQL and it's telling me that it's trying to log into the server as NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON. Shouldn't it try to log under whatever I define in the report's database settings or ODBC System DSNs?
These same reports work fine in Crystal Reports and Crystal Enterprise 10.
Edited by: Gingerbread Man on Feb 9, 2010 10:41 AM

go into the properties of the report and verify that the Database Login values are still set.  I found that it doesn't always transfer those when doing the import.

  • Upgrading from Crystal Reports Server V0 to V1

We're looking into upgrading Crystal Reports Server V0 to V1.  According to the upgrade guide we have to do a complete uninstall of our V0 before installing V1.  It seems risky to uninstall before we have a working version of the upgrade.  Wondering if anyone out there has gone through this process and if so what were your experiences?  Did you have a method to test the upgrade process before uninstalling V0?

  • Problems Upgrading from BO XI to BO XI 3.0

I attempted an upgrade from Business Objext XI (Crystal Enterprise Server) to XI 3.0. The install went fine until it got to the registering modules, which took hours and hours. It errored out that the CMS service was not running and could not continue. I looked at all the services and they are all disabled. The onlything running is the upgraded Tomcat Server.
Looking in the Central Configuration Manager for XI 3.0 Tomcat is the only thing listed. No other services....where do I go from here?
I reran the install and chose Repair, it ran through like it ran and got to Finish, but still nothing.
    Help, what do I do?
    Thanks,
    Mark W.

That's XIR1, there is no upgrade option.
The SIA in XI 3.0 replaced the other services and now runs everything as child propcesses so in the CCM you only see the SIA (Server Intelligence Agent)
If it's missing you should be able to add it, and it should create the other processes for you when you do.
There's questions as to whether or not 3.0 and XIR1 can be installed side by side, is that what you have done? or is it on another server?
Since you are XIR1 you should install 3.0 on a clean server and then migrate via import wizard (in the program files BO group). If you get stuck then open an incident with support.

  • Excel file error after upgrade from 2010 to 2013

    Hi there,

I followed this link for upgrade

Note: I have plan to configure separate Office APP Server to give user access the documents on iPad/iPhone. Should I need to do any configuration related to this error on Office App Server?
    Please advice.
    Thanks,
    Khushi

    Hi Khushi ,
Yes, you need to create New Excel Service Application separately on SharePoint 2013 Server. Due to  only the following service applications have databases that can be upgraded when you upgrade from SharePoint
Server 2010 to SharePoint Server 2013:
    Business Data Connectivity service application
    Managed Metadata service application
    PerformancePoint Services service application
    Search service application
    Secure Store Service application
    User Profile service application
Attaching and upgrading these databases configures these service applications. Settings for other services will have to be reconfigured when you upgrade.

  • Can't print from IE 8 after upgrading from Vista to Windows 7

My laptop (HP Elitebook 8530w) uses two HP printers: Color LaserJet CP3525x (at work) and Deskjet 6940 (at home). Both printers are accessed across a local network.
I recently upgraded from Vista Enterprise to Windows 7 Enterprise.
Everything still prints fine (from Word, Adobe Reader, Windows Photo Viewer, etc.), except for IE 8! When I try to print a web page from IE, it prints only the page header, and otherwise the sheet is empty. This symptom occurs on both printers. (And of course this worked fine before the upgrade.)
Any ideas? Thanks for any help.

Specifically, the following steps solved the problem:
    1. If it doesn't already exist, create a directory named "Low" in your directory "C:\Users\<your_user_name>\AppData\Local\Temp\".
    2. From a command prompt, issue this command:  ICACLS C:\Users\<your_user_name>\AppData\Local\Temp\Low /setintegritylevel (OI)(CI)low

  • Upgrade from Trial

    Hi,
I'm thinking of installing the Windows 8.1 Enterprise 90 Day Trial on my laptop. After the evaluation period has passed, will I have the option to upgrade to a full license, and at what cost? Can I upgrade from the Enterprise Trial to another edition of
Windows 8.1, like Windows 8.1 Pro or the standard edition, or would this require a new installation?
    Thanks.

    Hi there,
Yes you can upgrade to full license version.. to buy a licensed copy:-

  • From Leopard to Snow Leopard Server

    Hello,
Is it possible to upgrade from Leopard to Snow Leopard Server without loosing the files and particularly, without loosing the itunes libraries (including ratings)?
When I tried to do so, the installation program told me it was not possible to upgrade.
Therefore I installed the Snow Leopard Server and now I am not either able to migrate the contents using a previous Leopard Time Machine Backup.
    Can Anybody help?
    Thanks.
    Hugo

I have the same problem. There is no Migration Assistant in Snow Leopard server, only Server Migration. I am currently reverting back to the previous Snow Leopard setup (not the server one) by restoring the Time Machine backup after a clean install of the OS.
I think you can install the sever on a clean drive, the create an account then use Time Machine to restore the files into this account and into /Applications and such. But you will run into problems with some applications loosing their preferences if they are configured system wide etc...

  • Migration from Crystal Enterprise 10 to SAP Crystal Server 2011

    Hi all,
We are currently using Crystal Enterprise 10 to schedule and view our reports and the designer is Crystal Reports 10 .
we are planning to migrate to SAP Crystal Server 2011 with Crystal Reports 2011 as the designer. Can we do this migration directly or do we need to do the migration to an intermediate version before going to SAP Crystal Server 2011.
    Regards,
    Sreekanth S S

    1. So in this case, I need to migrate from Crystal Enterprise 10 to Crystal Reports Server XI R2/Crystal Reports Server 2008 or more using import wizard Then I will need to migrate from Crystal Reports Server XI R2/Crystal Reports Server 2008 to SAP Crystal Server 2011 using Upgrade Manager tool. Is my inference correct?
That is correct. For XI R2, it would be XI R2 SP2 minimum. And you need to have a live installation of XI R2 SP2 as SAP does not have it in archieve download area.
2.What is the potential risk if we try to migrate from Crystal Enterprise 10 to SAP Crystal Server 2011 using upgrade manager tool?
I am not sure if that will work with success, If the reports migrated from CE10 do not work in CRS2011, it would be unsupported. You can however try it anyways.
3.Can we open the reports developed using Crystal Reports 10 designer in Crystal Reports 2011 designer? .This is for another requirement of us where we have to just migrate the reports alone .
Yes you can do that. Try opening and running them in CR2011, they should work but some of them can also result in some errors here and their, this is more specific to report design and what kind of grouping\ filtering\formulas you use.
