Upgrade from sp3 to sp4

Help me please with the following trouble i found during the subj.
I had a directory with the BEA Platform installed. As a first step of the 'upgrade' procedure the platform has been uninstalled, then I killed all the directories left(where $BEAHOME points). I installed fresh sp4 in the old $BEAHOME, created new Basic Platform domain and tried to deploy existing portal application on it: updated portal libraries for portal application, rebuilt app and began redeployment process.
So, i've got exception:

Hi Folks,
I am upgrading from WLP8.1 SP3 to SP4 on Solaris Box.
I got this error when I try deploying the EAR file in SP4 on solaris box.
I followed the same steps upgrade from e-docs.
1. created new domain
2. Upgraded DB schema(executed upgrade_db_schema_to_81_SP4.cmd
3. Updated portal app & portal libraries using work shop
4. Built the EAR file
5. Deploying the EAR file.
I am not sure if I miss any steps.

CRM 7.0 upgrade from SP3 to SP6
Hi gurus,
we have a live CRM system 7.0 SP3 and we would like to upgrade to SP6.
The system is quite customized especially in the User Interface. Moreover some modification to the standard code has been made here and there.
My feeling is that it could be quite a huge task to do.
Has anybody experience with that? Is there any SAP reliable tool that could help me understand roughly the size of collitions?
It seems the tools that works for ABA and BASIS do not work for CRM.
Any feedback is appreciated.

We have been patching our CRM 7.0 system to SP6 and have almost finishedbut have hit a problem patching the BBPCRM component. Right at the very
end, several wizards and screens have popped up and each step has been
confirmed and moved on until we reach one which says "Resolve conflicting
versions of BDoc types.
At least all changed BDoc types require conflict resolution.
To do this, click on Execute to call the BDoc Modeler.
BDoc types that have conflicting versions are marked accordingly.
For further information, select Help -> Application Help.
When I click on execute, I get the following pop up error message:-
The customizing settings in this client is different from other clients.
and it won't let us continue any further. This is now holing up the
patching of the rest of our landscape, so any help in resolving this
would be gratefully received.

Help needed on upgrading portal application from sp3 to weblogic portal 10
Hi Guys
I have an application which is currently running on BEA Weblogic Portal 8.1 sp3. We need to upgrade our application from 8.1 sp3 to BEA Weblogic 10 version.
(1) Is there any way for upgradation from 8.1 sp3 to portal 10 directly or do I need to upgrade it from sp3 to sp4 and then from sp4 to portal 10? Pls clarify?
(2) How reliable are the BEAs automated scripts for retaining the personalization/customization of my application on sp3 to upgraded version i.e portal 10?
(3) I believe, we do not need to do any coding/design changes/architectural changes into my application for this upgrade.
Any help on this will be highly appreciated

so yes i think you need to upgrade from sp3 to a later version of the service pack

3) Depends on your application and the features you have used. E.g. I believe Content management has changed between sp3 and what 10 supports.

I am looking at upgrading from 4.0 sp4 patch 9 to 4.1
if download and run anything like SBOP BI Platform Servers 4.1 SP02 Patch5 - Update i get an error that i don't have the correct version of bi platform installed. What do i have to download to update from 4.0 to 4.1.
should i download and install

and then add patches?

the main feature we are looking to add is smart view from BI4.0 SP05 and i just want to make sure that will be avialable without having to remove the origional install.Hi,
When you are going from 4.0 to 4.1 you need to download the "patch" update to the Support Pack (SP) you are going to in 4.1
That is to say, the downloads are broken into Full Installs and Patches / updates. Additionally we have Patches to those SPs.
So if you are going from BI 4.0 SP 04 Patch 4.9 to BI 4.1 SP 02 Patch 2.5 then you have to first install the 4.1 SP02 patch update to 4.0 and then apply Patch 2.5 update to the platform.
One thing to note - what DB are you currently using? If it's the one provided with the product, this DB has changed between these versions. 4.0 pre SP05 had DB2 on Unix and MSSQL on Windows. As of SP05 we've moved the SAP SQLAnywhere.
This can cause problems if you "repair" the installation - something support will recommend for a lot of different reasons and when it does this, it will remove the DB2 or MSSQL installation. The repair basically un-installs and re-installs the application. During the install part of the repair it will install SQLAnywhere once again, but the repository will be in your old DB (which isn't installed anymore) and that can give problems.
My recommendation IF you are running the provided DB is that AFTER you install the upgrade you migrate the data and connection of the CMS Repository from the old CMS repository database, to the new database provided. You can do this with the CCM DB copy functionality. Once you do this you will be on the SQLAnywhere DB and you won't run into the issue with the repair.
if you are running any OTHER DB - that is to say, you are not using the one installed with the product and you have a separate installation of the DB then you will NOT be affected by this issue. So if you're running DB2, Oracle, SQLAnywhere, HANA, MSSQL, etc from a separate source of installation, you are not going to be affected by running a repair.

[SOLVED] Upgrade from SLES10 SP3 & OES2 SP2 to SP4/SP3 breaks NCS
Hi folks,
(This post was originally meant to be a rant and a request for help, but
while writing the final paragraph i found the solution. It's still a
rant, but i figured i'd post my solution here in case someone else runs
into the same issue.)
I've just spent several hours banging my head against a broken cluster
node. My system is a 32-bit SLES 10 VM running on VMware ESX 3.5.x.
I upgraded from SLES10 SP3 and OES2 SP2 to the next service packs for
each (using the move-to-oes-sp3 script in yast2 online_update).
Everything went well for the first few update/reboot sequences, then
after the final reboot on SLES10 SP4 & OES2 SP3, cluster services would
not load or join the cluster on restart.
I checked dmesg and found errors about "Loading module compiled for
kernel version 2.6.16.60-0.54.5-vmi" into a previous kernel version, so
i tried downgrading to that kernel version, only to find that it was
older than the one i had just upgraded from (it's the original SLES10
SP3 kernel). So i tried upgrading back to the same kernel which is
running on the other cluster node (2.6.16.60-0.77.1-vmi), but that did
not work any better.

I have to say that i'm not impressed that OES2 SP3 isn't even compiled
against the appropriate kernel, and because of SUSE's kernel RPM
overwrite policy there's no way i can select to boot from a previous
kernel to see if that fixes things. Note to SUSE and other distro
builders: if you're not doing kernel package upgrades like Red Hat or
Ubuntu (so that we can select to boot from the previous kernel from the
boot menu), you're doing it *WRONG*.

I then upgraded again to the latest recommended kernel for SLES10 SP4,
and still no joy. Dmesg shows this error before the rot starts:
allocation failed: out of vmalloc space - use vmalloc=<size> to increase
size.
When searching for this error i stumbled across

Adding vmalloc=192M to /boot/grub/menu.lst and rebooting solved the

The system in question has kernel-bigsmp and kernel-vmi installed. We
only ever boot from kernel-vmi.

When we installed the system (on OES2 SP1, i believe) it was a while
ago, and kernel-vmi with clocksource=acpi_pm on the kernel command line
was the only solution we could find to get reliable time. If there are
updated best-practice documents, i'd be happy to hear about them.
However, this is a production cluster and my boss is (rightly) rather
reticent to make major changes.

the official Vmware paper on time is that IF you're using SLES 10.x 32-bit you will use VMI and NO kernel params (ie, get rid of the clockpit and clocksource=blah).
But if 64-bit then you're okay.
The easiest, IMO (especially with vmware) is to use the miggui (migration utility). That's how I'm converting all my 32-bit servers in vmware to 64-bit. Works quite well.

I have a problem upgrading the version of CE 7.1 SP3 to SP4.
I have read the master guide. There are 2 options described there:
1. from SP03 to SP04 or higher manually
2. using the update management service
For the second option I need the /ceupdatemanagement tool from the <drive>\usr\sap\<SID>\SYS\exe\uc\<PLATFORM> directory. I don.t have one.
I chose the first option. It is written:

7.1 Support Package Stacks .
5. Stop the SAP Management Console.

Ok , when I downloaded the files I don't have a update<ID>.exe file in this download directory. Do I need to download it separately and if so, where I can download it. Is this the ceupdate tool?

I would suggest you to re-install MDM server again.
Also refer, SAP Note 1432315 for upgrading MDM 7.1 SP3 to MDM 7.1 SP4.
Go through section, B4. Update MDM Servers.
Again, I would suggest you to go through this SAP Note 1432315
Also refer SAP Note, Note 1359600 - MDM stopped communicating after upgrading to 7.1.03 or Higher.
It tells that it is something related to TCP Port/firewall restriction Change. Please check this SAP Note for more details.

Upgrading from Exchange 2007 SP2 to SP3 stops and fails with Performance Counter
We are upgrading from Exchange 2007 SP2 to SP3.
Exchange Server is on Windows 2008 Enterprise 64 bit OS -SP2
DC is on windows 2008 Enterprise 32 bit OS - SP2
When we run Exchange SP3 setup.exe GUI, it runs through the pre-requisites completely and then starts to configure the Hub Transport services but @ exactly 55% it throws an error window "Exchange Server Setup encountered an error"
On repeating this process i noticed it throws the same error at 55% while "Performance COunter Configuring". Please find below the entries of exchangesetup.log

We have
1. disabled anti virus and tried.
2. removed watermarks and action entries in the registry
3. tried almost everything mentioned on google but i am not able to move forward.

Upgrade From Exchange 2010 SP1 to SP3 - Schema Upgrade Question
Hello,
We're currently running Exchange 2010 SP1 in our environment and want to upgrade to SP3. I just had a couple of questions related to preparing AD for this new SP that I was hoping that someone could answer.
Setup
We have a single forest with two domains within it (A and B for example). The schema master is in Domain A but this domain doesn't contain any Exchange 2010 servers. Domain B contains our 2010 CAS and Mailbox servers.
Both domains have Windows 2003 SP2 domain controllers.
I understand that before I proceed with the upgrade to SP3, I first need to update the AD schema on our schema master. I was planning on doing the following :
Log onto an existing Windows 2008 R2 64 bit "member" server in domain A (containing the schema master) with an account which is a member of the Schema Admins and Enterprise Admins groups.
Run SETUP.EXE /PrepareAD.
Do I need to also run SETUP.EXE /PrepareDomain on domain A as well or does the /PrepareAD sort this out ?
I was then going to turn my attention to domain B (which contains the 2010 CAS and Mailbox servers) and do the following :
Log onto an existing Windows 2008 R2 64 bit 2010 Mailbox server with an account which is a member of the Domain Admins and Enterprise Admins groups.
Run SETUP.EXE /PrepareDomain
Is this the correct procedure to follow ? I assume that I can then go ahead and start to upgrade the Exchange 2010 SP1 servers in the following sequence :
CAS\HUB Server(s)
Mailbox Server(s).
Clarification on the AD upgrade steps would be appreciated.

Note: There is no harm in simply running setup/PrepareAllDomains.
You should break out each Prep step since you have multiple domains:
setup/PrepareSchema
setup /PrepareAD
setup /PrepareAllDomains
you can run all of these from the same DC you run the setup/PrepareSchema step!

EVDRE Access Issue Post Upgrade from BPC 5.1 SP3 to BPC 7.0 SP6

Recently upgraded from BPC 5.1SP3 to BPC 7.0 SP6. Experiencing some strange behavior regarding the ability to send data to BPC from an EVDRE. Both users are part of the same secuity team, thus have the same security in both versions. However, one is able to send data to BPC 7.0 SP6 for a specific input template while the other recieves a message "There is no data to refresh." This message is not encountered in BPC 5.1 SP3.
The strange thing is that the user who receives the "there is no data to refresh" is able to rebuild the input template ad hoc and send data to BPC
I have reviewed security, cleared the cache on the user's machine. I had the user with this issue log onto the app server; she encountered the same behavior regarding this template. Also tested a seperate input template in another application, this issue did not occurr.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

From your description it looks like the problem si more related to that specific user. Please try to reprocess the security for that user. Then go on file server and go into <appset>/<application>/<private publication>/<user name> and delete appinfo.zip.
Other idea can be related to the excel cache, but I don;t know why is not working for this specific user. You can try to save it in a new template as Patrick indicated.
You can try also clear local application information from admin client or try from other machine using the same client.

We are doing upgrade from SAP BO 3.1 SP3 to SAP BO 3.1 SP5, can you please help in below points
1. How much time does it take to run SP5 upgrade service pack for servers and client tools. The server need to be upgraded only on weekend, is it possible to upgrade in 1.5 days?
2. The OS is Windows 2008 server. what should be the rollback plan in case of upgrade failure ? One of server uses VM image while Production server doesnt have any VM image.
3. If BO client tools are on SP3, can they still connect to BO server components on SP5 - (for interim period when servers are upgraded first)

1. The upgarde should be completed in 1.5 days for the server and client componenets depending upon the number of servers you have in the cluster . If you are planning for upgarde do it successfully first on TEST , DEV and then proceed with PROD servers
2. The roll back plan includes thebackup of the CMS database , the filestore directory and the complete installation folder . In case of any issue , you can the place the backup . If the servers are on the VM , it is always recommeded to have the snapshot of the images before the upgrade
3. Yes, they can connect to the SP3 servers , but always recommeded to upgarde and have servers and client tools on same patch .

Weblogic 6.1 server upgrade from SP2 to SP3
Hi All
We have weblogic server 6.1 SP2 installed on the solaris machine. Now we
have to upgrade our weblogic server 6.1 SP3. We also have downloaded the installable.
But that installable seems to over-write the previous weblogic server & installs
the server afresh. Is there any patch kinda thing available which allows me to
upgrade from SP2 to SP3 ? I don't want a fresh new install of SP3 server.

Please help.Look at the bright side, only iOS 5.1.1 and earlier had the older Google Maps App that I find easier to read on the traffic. It does mean a lot of Apps you can't update, so be careful. I'm in the same boat.
