Upgrade Hp G62 b02SL

Hi, i want to upgrade my hp g62-b02SL processor from Intel Pentium P6100 with socket pga988 to intel core i7 740qm with pga988. It's possible? My motherboard support this processor? Or i have to do a bios update? Thank's.

If your notebook has the Mobile Intel HM55 chipset then the P6100 is in the same family.
Processor comparison sheet:
http://ark.intel.com/compare/43560,50175
That is the service manual linked to your notebook's support and driver page.
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?product=4284619&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&query=G62%20b02SL&tool...
That is all  I can tell you (other than to say there is no way a quad core processor will work in it).

Reinstall W7 using HP recvovery media and then do the upgrade again. You can order HP recovery media below, or call HP on the phone to order 1-800-474-6836

Maintenance and service guide for G62 laptops:
    http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02542102.pdf
Q2: I think so. The service guide says that it's possible for model 1.1 only. Product specs for G62-361tx say that the hard drive is a 320GB 5400rpm and this hard drive is available for model 1.1 only. I think that you may use a 4GB module anyway, the laptop might be upgraded up to 8GB of RAM..
    Q1: Upgrade definitely possible to:
    Intel Arrandale i5–520M Processor (2.4 GHz, 3 MB total L3 cache, 1066 MHz)— Dual Core 35 W pn: 594187-001
    Intel Arrandale i5–540M Processor (2.53 GHz, 3 MB total L3 cache, 1066 MHz)— Dual core 35 W pn: 594188-001

    Intel Arrandale i5–430 Processor (2.26 GHz, 3 MB total L3 cache, 1066 MHz)—Dual Core 35 W pn: 597624-001
    Might be possible:
    Intel Arrandale i5–560 Processor (2.66–3.2 GHz, 3 MB L3 cache, 1066 MHz)—Dual
    Core 35 W (for model 1.1 only) pn: 625824-001
    Intel Arrandale i5–580 Processor (2.66–3.33 GHz, 3 MB L3 cache, 1066 MHz)—

I can't tell you which model the G62-361tx is so I would use one of the first 4 processors. They should work at 100%!!

  • G62-361TX Upgrading RAM

HI, I have HP G62-361 TX laptop. I want to upgrade my RAM as i use it for 3D softwares and multi tasking.
On Crucial.com it shows its 8 GB upgradeable. I am thinking to buy 8GB (1 X 8GB)RAM and then will add 2 GB of my old Ram.
I searched lot on google and some says may be it will support and use 10 GB RAM and some says may be it will not work.
So CAn anyone help me for suggestting that i will buy (1 X 8GB) or (2 X 4GB) RAM.
Because on my model if (1 X 8GB) single Ram can work fine then i will have no lose to buy single slot RAM.

    From the factory your HP G62-361TX Notebook Computer come with 3 GB DDR3 (1 x 1024 MB + 1 x 2048 MB). According to the Compaq Presario CQ62 Notebook PC and HP G62 Notebook PC - Maintenance and Service Guide this model supports;
    2 customer-accessible/upgradable SODIMM slots
    Dual-channel memory DDR3, 1066 MHz
    Up to 8 GB of system memory (8192MB = 4096 x 2)

  • G62-264CA Bios upgrade

Hello, I have a g62-264ca that belongs to a very elderly neighbour who has asked me to look at the machine for him.
It appears he has been sold and has been struggling with a foreign machine (and keyboard) and didn't realise.
To help him I have installed 64 bit Linux mint and confined him to the applications that he needs which he is now happy with however the fan does seems to roar often and given the lighter nature of the OS I was surprised and so on further checking it appears that there has been a bios upgrade.
The keyboard replacement is straightforward but I am having difficulty checking for a BIOS upgrade as I beleive it might be from France or maybe Canda?
    Can anyone help?
Please, I  don't need you to use this post to knock Linux.

    The BIOS updates are here.
Can you read the Microsoft COA sticker and see all twenty five characters of the license activation key?
If you can, then you can download legal Digital River  Windows 7 ISO images  from here. I suggest using Windows 7 (64-bit). After you have the ISO image you can use the Microsoft USB\DVD tool to create a USB Windows 7 installer and upgrade the BIOS. The Windows 7 install will be very quick. The Windows 7 drivers for the notebook are here at the HP web support portal download section.
Anyone who uses a SmartPhone that has Android installed and knows what that means certainly wouldn't purposely knock Linux.

  • Upgrading CPU on G62-144dx Notebook

I am looking to upgrade the processor on my G62-144dx Notebook, Product WA91UA#ABA.  I currently have the factory-installed i3 2.13 GHz processor.  I have looked at the manual and noticed that the compatible processors with the speeds that I require -- 2.66 GHz and above, to run Sonar X1 Studio software -- are noted for "model 1.1 only."  How can I tell if I have model 1.1?
If I do not have the correct model ("1.1"), would one of the "model 1.1"-specific processors still be functional on this computer, albeit with less than optimal performance, or is there another issue (like physically not fitting the motherboard) that prevents such an installation?
Thanks, trying to decide whether or not to keep this computer or to get a custom-made elsewhere.

    Hi,
    Your machine currently has:
2.3GHz/1.4GHz VISION A6 Technology from AMD with AMD Quad-Core A6-3400M Accelerated Processor
    Source:  http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Pavilion-dv7-Entertainment-Notebook-PC-series/5145684/model/5...
From 2.3GHz to 2.4GHz you won't gain anything. But if you wish, you can try 35W processors listed on page #1 of the following document:
        http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03043778.pdf
Note: You can't overclock many branded machines. Vendors lock them in BIOS. One understanding reason: they don't want customers overclock machines then after one or two months cunstomers send machines back due to overheat.
    Regards.

Here is a link to the Manual which lists the available processors:
    Manual
It appears that you can install a Phenom II N640 which is a 2.9 ghz processor and would provide a major increase in power. However, it is a 35w processor and yours is a 25w processor. Laptop processor upgrades are a bit of a black art and you will not find official support. You are almost always better off to sell what you have and buy a laptop with a faster cpu. Single high-end laptop cpus are very expensive.
The N640 is about $150 on ebay.

  • HP G62-224CA CPU Upgrade

It's about that time to do a couple upgrades on my current laptop to get it ready for school.
    Current specs:
    G62-224CA
    XB061UA#ABC
    BIOS - F.29 04/07/2011
AMD Athlon II P320 (dual core 25w tdp)
    System Board: 1444 69.37
    Chipset: AMD 785GX Rev. 00
    Southbridge: AMD SB800
    Planned upgrades:
AMD Phenom II N930 or N970 (quad core 35w tdp)
I checked the user manual located here however I did not see anything for the AMD 785GX chipset, even though I do see the Athlon II P320 on the list of CPUs.
I've done all my research, and have seen individuals go from the Sempron V120 to the Phenom II N620 without any issues whatsoever. I'd just like to know if I can go from the Athlon II P320 to the Phenom II N930 (or the fastest available AMD processor that's compatible)
Would be grateful if someone knowledgeable could chime in, since I called HP and was given a simple "no, HP laptops do not support CPU swaps", which is obviously false given that it has been done successfully with other processors.
    Cheers,
    Andrew

    Anytime, Mohamed.
That, plus the service manual has a procedure in chapter 4 for removing and replacing the processor.
If we now learned that a BGA processor cannot be upgraded, and the service manual provides a procedure for upgrading the processor, we can conclude the processor in your G62 has a PGA socket.
I am looking forward to reading about the results of your processor upgrade.

  • HP G62 b40sm upgrade to SSD

    Hello everyone,
I am planning to upgrade my HP G62 b40sm with SSD, but looking around on google I saw people sometimes have problems with upgrading due the BIOS or something.
Here is link to specs of my laptop and I am curious if I can upgrade to latest SSD drives like this one on the link
I don't understand much if there is difference with SATA II and SATA III and does it influence the laptops or I am completly missguided with all that and all SSD-s can work like normal HDD-s .

I saw your post regarding upgrading to a Solid State Drive (SSD) for your g62-b40sm. Upgrading to an SSD can be tricky in a notebook. Your best bet is to go by the Maintenance and Service Guide for your model. On page 42 you will see the list of compatible hard drives and there is no SSD on that list so there is no guarantee that it will install correctly. Here is some additional information on SATA that should also help.

  • Upgrading RAM on HP G62-465DX

    Hi All,
I am trying to upgrade the RAM on my HP G62-465DX from 4GB to 8GB, 8GB was listed as the max RAM size on the HP G62 Notebook PC Maintenance and Service Guide document. I purchased the Kingston ValueRAM 8GB Memory Module Kit - 2x 4GB, PC3-10600 1333 MHz, DDR3 SDRAM, CL9, SoDIMM - KVR13S9S8K2/8(http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=8947675&CatId=11465)
When the RAM is installed in the laptop, the laptop boots up to the loading Windows screen, and immediately restarts the laptop. I am presented with the two options of Launch Stattup Repair (Recommneded) or Start Windows Normally. Attempting either options results in the laptop restrating itself over again and proviidng me with only those two options. Does anyone have any suggestions to help me resolve this issue?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello @HPevo,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I have read your post on how your notebook computer restarts after upgrading the RAM, and I would be happy to assist you in this matter!
When you switch back the old RAM modules, does the notebook boot into Windows normally? According to the Product Specifications for your notebook computer, the supported sockets are DIMM; and the modules you have used to upgrade the RAM are SO-DIMM. This incompatibility could be the root of your notebook restarting.
Alternatively, a compatible RAM replacement part would be with this spare part number: 641369-001.
Please re-post with the results of your troubleshooting, and I look forward to your reply!

    Hi,
    The specs for your laptop:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02643001&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory&cc=us&dlc=en...
You can have up to 4GB of DDR3 PC3-8500 RAM. The graphics card is a shared Intel Graphics chip. The chip uses the main laptop RAM so more laptop memory, more memory for the graphics card. Upgrade the memory to 4GB and it will also increase the memory for the graphics card. It can't be replaced or upgraded. The only way how to upgrade the graphics card is to replace the motherboard with a compatible one with a more power graphics chip on board.

  • G62-227CL Notebook memory upgrade

I have a G62-227CL Notebook, and I would like to add memory.  What kind of memory will work?  Ideally, I would like to add 4 GB to the extant 3 GB.  Must I add two of the 2 GB 1066 MHz PC3 8500 DDR 3 modules, or can I add the single 4 GB DDR3-1333?
(I think my system supports 1066 MHz.  Does this mean that the DDR3-1333 would work more slowly, or that it would not work at all?) The 4G 1333 module is a lot cheaper than two of the 2GB 1066 modules, so that's why I ask.  Thank you for your help!

The single 4 GB stick will work (1333Mz), make sure and insert it into the bottom slot. You can also use the other 2 GB stick with the 4 for a total of 6 GB.
It is advisable to use matched pairs of memory, but it will be fine to mix and match.
Here are some different types of combos from Crucial.
     http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?model=HP%20G62-227CL&Cat=RAM
Your machine supports both and the 1333 Mz will be faster, but you won't really notice the speed difference.

    Hi,
I'm sorry to say it's not really possible.  In a notebook, even dedicated 'cards' are physically soldered to the Motherboard in the same way as your Intel chip.  Also the Bios has a 'Whitelist' of allowed hardware and will refuse to boot if another device not on this list is detected.
