Upgrade jdk 1.6.0_15 or higher which class jar I need, I am running eclipse

Can someone tell me, if I have a class 12.jar with jdk 1.2 and upgrade jdk to 1.6.0_15 or higher, which class jar I need and where can I get it? Ideal would be with some instructions. :) Thanks so much.

    Hi,
    Generaly its not a good practice to modify SWCV you need to create in SLD then import it. Although if you want you can do it by opening SWCV in Repository then down the namespaces, you can see 2 check boxes named as Objects are original objects and Objects are modifiable. You need to check the option Objects are Modifiable.
    Then you can change it. I'hv not tried but check if it helps?

  • Which classes are required to run a basic client app outside of jDev?

    Basic question, folks.
    For a minimal program, say a frame and a swing component, which classes need be copied (to a system without any Oracle software installed) in order to run? Is there a listing available that describes which class/jars are needed if x component is used?
    Also, will jre 1.4 work? Or do I need to copy a special Oracle JVM? If so, is there a specific installer just for it?
    TIA
    -Nat

    Nathan,
    To run any Java application, you will need a Java Runtime Environment(JRE) which is part of the Java Software Development Kit (SKD). If you want to distribute your application with a JRE, you can copy the .../jdk/jre directory from JDeveloper (check the readme file about copyrights and other legal issues) or you download it from http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/download.html
    Both the AWT and Swing libraries are included in the JRE in the same jar file as the basic java.lang or java.io classes. The name of the file is rt.jar.
    If your program runs with the Oracle VM, it will run with Hotspot. Both VMs are equivalent when running your application. It is only for the development phase that we strongly suggest to use the Oracle VM because it is much better instrumented for development than any other VM.
    If you want to know precisely which classes are loaded from which jar files, run your application from a command line and add -verbose:class.
    For example:
    C:\JDev9\jdk\demo\jfc\SwingSet2>java -verbose:class -jar SwingSet2.jar

  • Upgrade JDK and WebStart - big problems

    I have been developing (compiling and running) a J2EE application using JDK 1.3.1_02. Now I am trying to upgrade it to Java 1.4.2_03. This process has been very frustrating and left me with a bunch of questions.
    The application uses several external JAR libraries (JavaDatePicker, rpValidation) and some J2EE libraries (ejb.jar, jta.jar, oc4jclient.jar, etc...). For the most part, when I examine the manifest of these jars, they say that they were created by java 1.3.
         eg: jta.jar
              "Manifest-Version: 1.0
              Created-By: 1.3.1_02 (Sun Microsystems Inc.)"
    QUESTION #1) Do these jar files need to be upgraded to a v1.4? In other words, can I run an application using Java 1.4 if it references a library that was created with Java v1.3?
    POTENTIAL ANSWER) I don't think that they need to be upgraded b/c if so then the newer JDev (which ships with jdk 1.4) would contain newer versions.
    The application works when I run it from my development environment (JDeveloper 9.0.3.3 with a newly installed JDK 1.4.2_03). However, it does not work when I run it from Java Web Start. The problem comes when it's time to do an RMI lookup on an EJB. At that point the program throws the following exception:
         javax.naming.NamingException: Lookup error: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: javax/servlet/http/HttpSessionContext; nested exception is:
              java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: javax/servlet/http/HttpSessionContext
    This error has never happened before. It only occurs when I changed the descriptor in the jnlp file from <j2se version="1.3"/> to <j2se version="1.4"/>. I know that the class is deployed because I include the jar in the jnlp file.
    local.jnlp:
         <resources>
         <j2se version="1.4"/>
         <jar href="client.jar" />
         <jar href="mymt.zip" />
         <!-- Javadatepicker libraries -->
         <jar href="javadatepicker.jar" />
         <jar href="metouia.jar" />
         <jar href="kunststoff.jar" />
         <!-- RM lookup library -->
         <jar href="RMInterfaces.jar" />
         <!-- J2EE libraries -->
         <jar href="ejb.jar" />
         <jar href="oc4jclient.jar" />
         <jar href="jta.jar" />
         <jar href="jaas.jar" />
         <jar href="jms.jar" />
              <jar href="jmxgrinder.jar" />
              <jar href="jmxri.jar" />
              <jar href="jmxtools.jar" />
         <!-- Field Validation Library -->
         <jar href="rpValidation.jar" />
         <extension name="common" href= "localmt.jnlp" />
         </resources>
    To further complicate things, I did a search and found that HttpSessionContext is: "Deprecated. As of Java(tm) Servlet API 2.1 for security reasons, with no replacement. This interface will be removed in a future version of this API."
    But my code never even calls this class. So I'm guessing that something in one of the libraries calls it. And these libraries must be from the old JDev and thus call old classes. So I upgraded all the j2ee libraries that I bundle in the deployed application with the ones that ship with JDev 9044. However, I still get the same error.
    What I don't understand is why it runs in JDev but not after being deployed with JWS ?! What's wrong with my RMI lookup?

    After upgrade, previous admin account will not work. You will need to add GUI admin account through the console access. So before starting with upgrade process please make sure you have console access available for the appliance. Command would be :
    add-guiadmin [admin] [password]
    Syntax Description
    admin User name for the GUI account.
    password Password for the GUI account.
    Usage Guidelines
    If you do not set up a GUI account using the add-guiadmin command, then there is no way to access the ACS SE other than through the CLI administrator account and a serial connection. After initial installation of the ACS SE, add a web GUI account using this command.

  • When I upgraded to Fire Fix 7X or higher some PHP pages I programmed do not work properly. Please see details below.

    I have some PHP pages I have programmed that do database inserts and updates. I am using Dreamweaver and an extention package called InterAkt MXKollection to enhance some features on the web page. In particular some fields on the page use what is called KTML Rich Text Editors. In Firefox versions 3X to 6X all the fields work for an UPDATE post to the database. When I upgraded to Fire Fix 7X or higher only the first RTE field posts any changes and the rest of the form fields do not post any changed content. I know this is a browser issue because it all works in IE 7 and 8 and when I uninstall Fire Fox 7X (and higher) and revert back to the earlier Fire Fox versions (6X and below) the page works correctly. Also there is a dependent dropdown menu set on the page and it too breaks from FF V7X and on. It seems that something in the browser is not allowing all the functions in my page to take place in the newer versions. I can provide proof if needed.

  • Can we just upgrade BI_BASE and BI_WEBAPP to a higher release...

    We hit a bug in our BI Portal which has been recently upgraded from SPS12 to SPS16 and as per one of the SAP note, the fix is to apply SP17 for BI_BASE and BI_WEBAPP. We applied it in our Sandbox and the error is no longer there, however I was wondering if it's allowed to just upgrade BI_BASE and BI_WEBAPP on the J2ee side without impacting or breaking any relationship amongst the components?

    Hi,
    Yes, your basis guy is right. This activity will take time. This is not just the kernel upgrade, you have to do SPAU and SPDD. Also you need to do functional testing as well.
    Whole process will take time and it is not just the basis work. Other teams will also be involved in testing, performing SPDD and SPAU etc.
    Also, to upgrade to EHP1, kernel upgrade is mandatory and it will be performed by upgrade tool only during upgrade. I would suggest to read upgrade guide.
    Thanks

    ATA bus error means that data corruption occurred during transmission over ATA bus (SATA or PATA). This type of errors can be indicated by
    ICRC or ABRT error as described in the section called “ATA/ATAPI device error (non-NCQ / non-CHECK CONDITION)”.
    Controller-specific error completion with error information indicating transmission error.
    On some controllers, command timeout. In this case, there may be a mechanism to determine that the timeout is due to transmission error.
    Unknown/random errors, timeouts and all sorts of weirdities.
    As described above, transmission errors can cause wide variety of symptoms ranging from device ICRC error to random device lockup, and, for many cases, there is no way to tell if an error condition is due to transmission error or not; therefore, it's necessary to employ some kind of heuristic when dealing with errors and timeouts. For example, encountering repetitive ABRT errors for known supported command is likely to indicate ATA bus error.
    Once it's determined that ATA bus errors have possibly occurred, lowering ATA bus transmission speed is one of actions which may alleviate the problem.
    I'd also add; make sure you have good backups when ATA errors are frequent

    I tried to upgrade jdk 1.4 in my WSAD 5.1 to version 1.5 but it did not work.
    With a Java app opening, click Window -> Preferences ->Java ->installed JREs to change the jre to jre 1.5. The complier is still 1.4. So the code with generics can't be complied.
    How to upgrade the complier to 1.5?

    I've WSAD 5.1 but it's JDK is only 1.3.
    Tried both the options setting jdk1.4.1
    a. window>preferences>java>installed JREs> added jdk1.4 and
