Upgrade past 10.6.6 has caused my M-Audio interface to stop working. Is there a fix short of wiping my drive and reinstalling an earlier version of 10.6?
I use an M-Audio Fast Track USB MIDI interface with Garageband. After uprading to 10.6.7, the interface quit working. I went into the preference pane and selected the appropriate input and output, but it still does not send my signal to the speakers through the built in interface. What is the solution to my dilemma?
Contact the developer. This is a quite common occurrence when the OS is upgraded. M-Audio is usually behind in maintaining compatibility.
If they don't have a solution then downgrading to a previous version will be necessary. This should work:
Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive
Do the following:
1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer. Proceed with reinstalling OS X. Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files. After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.

What would cause my Game Center app to stop working & other apps to just shut off .
I've attached a stripped down version of the subVI which handles the UDP connection.
In the Init and Disconnect cases, I've had to remove the startup and shutdown commands as that's protected info, but they are just fixed U8 arrays. The subVI does not have any incoming errors when executed by itself or as part of the main VI nor does the Init case generate any errors. Also, the UDP Open and UDP Write functions process a nonzero Connection ID.
Let's see, what else? The Init and Disconnect cases operates just once at the beginning and end, as you might expect. While the Read case operating at 1x/sec during normal operation.
Let me know if there's any more insight I can provide.

When I try to back up my Iphone, I get a message that My Iphone can not be backed up on my computer. My computer is authorized and I have been successful with this in the past. I uninstalled Itunes and reinstalled the lastest version and the same problem occurs.
If you are running Tiger, you don't have time machine.
You need to get something like SuperDuper! or Carbon Copy Cloner (sorry, I don't have a handy link for CCC but you can Google it to get their site) to make a clone of your drive on the external and then do incremental backups. The free versions do a lot and you can upgrade to the full-service versions for small change if you need more. The one time I used SuperDuper! for cloning a volume it worked just fine.
(My backup application is the last PPC capable version of Retrospect, which does a credible job, or has over the past ten-twelve years.) -

For your iCloud backup, you may have an app that is preventing the backup from succeeding. If it succeeds, turn some of your apps to On and try backing up again. If it succeeds again, turn some more apps to On then try again; repeat this process until it fails. If you turned iCloud backup off and try to sync to create a backup on your computer and got a "waiting for sync to start" error, it may be caused by a corrupt backup on your computer. You could try deleting your last backup by opeing iTunes and going to Preferences>Devices, clicking on your last backup and clicking Delete Backup. Then try again. -

If the power adapter is already plugged into your computer, the AC power cord is likely to spark as you attempt to plug it in. The power adapter is designed to shut down when a potentially damaging situation occurs. The "sparking" can cause over-current and over-voltage protection circuits to turn the power adater off. Just got iPhone 5, get home and find iCloud Outlook Add-in does not install under Windows XP. I am loathe to upgrade to Windows Vista/7/8 just yet. Can I obtain and use an earlier version of iCloud Outlook Add-in? My iPad II synchronizes!
There is no 'earlier' version that supports XP. iCloud launched with Vista/7 support only.

I had the same thing yesterday. After google gave me nothing and after I was sure my phone had enough charge to restart, I did a reset on my phone...
Holding down the Power button, volume button and selector button on the front - for about 30 secs (or untill I knew the beeping had stopped).
I cant remember if I then restarted it or it it restarted itself, but now its back to normal! No memory loss from the phone either.
Freeked me out as its a new iphone 4s but glad to have it back! Without having to take it to get fixed by a pro.
