Upgrade SP10 BPC 7.0

Hi,
Currently we are using SAP BPC 7 SP 9 in windows 2003 and windows xp environment,
We upgraded for SP 10 with same environment. Is it possible?
Thanks a lot for your answers..
NB : according the first tests, il 's not possible

SP10 should be just fine with Windows 2003 and XP. They did not remove support for those operating systems, they just added support for Vista, Windows 7, and Server 2008.

    Hi,
Do have Vista or Windows 7 on your computer? If yes, then UAC may interfere. You may need to disable UAC or update client manually. To obtain client software installers please download them from your server as instructed here:

  • EVDRE Access Issue Post Upgrade from BPC 5.1 SP3 to BPC 7.0 SP6

    Greetings,
Recently upgraded from BPC 5.1SP3 to BPC 7.0 SP6.  Experiencing some strange behavior regarding the ability to send data to BPC from an EVDRE.  Both users are part of the same secuity team, thus have the same security in both versions.  However, one is able to send data to BPC 7.0 SP6 for a specific input template while the other recieves a message "There is no data to refresh."    This message is not encountered in BPC 5.1 SP3.
The strange thing is that the user who receives the "there is no data to refresh" is able to rebuild the input template ad hoc and send data to BPC
I have reviewed security, cleared the cache on the user's machine.  I had the user with this issue log onto the app server; she encountered the same behavior regarding this template.  Also tested a seperate input template in another application, this issue did not occurr.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Greg Lakin

    Hi, n
From your description it looks like the problem si more related to that specific user. Please try to reprocess the security for that user. Then go on file server and go into <appset>/<application>/<private publication>/<user name> and delete appinfo.zip.
Other idea can be related to the excel cache, but I don;t know why is not working for this specific user. You can try to save it in a new template as Patrick indicated.
You can try also clear local application information from admin client or try from other machine using the same client.
    Hope this can hekp you,

  • Z_IMPORT_MASTER_DATA_LOAD fails after upgrade to BPC 7.5

    Hi,
After an upgrade from BPC 7.0 (for NW) to BPC 7.5, the process chain Z_IMPORT_MASTER_DATA_LOAD fails. This is a standard process chain and we have used it to import Employee-masterdata from BW to BPC. This has been working perfectly fine for a long time, but after the upgrade it fails with the error message: u201CJob or process BPCMALDNW, waiting for event RSPROCESS D5PUFX4O5T78XRI7YVDC1LGBL is unknownu201D. Details of the error message are:
Job or process BPCMALDNW, waiting for event RSPROCESS D5PUFX4O5T78XRI7YVDC1LGBL is unknown
    Message no. RSPC002
    Diagnosis
Job BPCMALDNW has been started because of event RSPROCESS D5PUFX4O5T78XRI7YVDC1LGBL. This job is not, however, known in the active version of the process chain.
    System Response
    The job has been terminated.
It is the variants u201CClear BPC tablesu201D and u201CConvertu201D that fail, but they do not give any error message that makes sense.
Does anyone know what is causing this problem? Can the process chain not be used in BPC 7.0 and do we have to use the process chain /CPMB/IMPORT_MASTER instead?
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi Rohit,
Yes you will need to re-create your custom packages. Please see Note 1294591 - Support SQL 2008 (DM):
    [Addtional Info]
If you need to upgrade SQL 2005 dtsx packages to SQL 2008, customized packages must be created in SQL 2008 BIDS(Business Intelligence Development Studio). The steps are the same with SQL 2005. To do this, you should copy BPC Task DLLs for SQL 2008 to Tasks folder under SQL 2008 BIDS installation folder
If you use packages provided from ApShell, you can copy packages from ApShell instead created in SQL 2008 BIDS after upgrading to SQL 2008.
*Note: you should modify package as your application structure such as dimension when you copy package from an application to others and, between the applications, the structure are different.
Also, for information on migration steps to apply to support packages before SP01, see the Planning and Consolidation 7.5 M Upgrade Guide, available on SAP Service Marketplace at http://service.sap.com/instguidesEPM-BPC > 7.5, version for the Microsoft platform.
    Thanks

  • Upgrade SAP BPC 7.5 NW SP4 to SAP BPC 7.5 NW SP8

    Hello,
I want to make an Upgrade from SAP BPC 7.5 NW SP4 to SAP BPC 7.5 NW SP8 and i need to know what are the consideration to make that.
Do you have any suggestion, link or information to get this activity?
    Best regards

    Hello,
As far as I know, you don't need to perform all configuration steps from SP04 to SP08 in ABAP tier, but it is good to check if everything is ok.
You can also check upgrade guide available at http://service.sap.com/instguidesEPM-BPC (choose 7.5 version for SAP NetWeaver).
Regarding Apshell: sometimes a few changes are made in the way things work in the backend (logic) and of course, some improvements also. These changes can be reflected in Apshell, so yes, every time you upgrade you must recreate apshell executing UJS_ACTIVATE_CONTENT as described in installation guide (also available at the above link).
If you have any problems during apshell activation in SP08, check this thread: Issues on Activating Apshell on BPC Netweaver 7.5 SP08
It is already available Patch 1 for BPC Client and for BPC .Net server, you should also consider applying it (release note is 1597464).
    Hope it helps!

  • Upgrading from BPC 5.0.481

Hello everyone - we were one of the first customers to install SAP BPC (then OutlookSoft) v5. We installed SP 1 & 2, but we have not installed any upgrades since then. Our entire company recently upgraded to Office 2007 and I heard that 5.1 SP4 would address some of the conflicts we had seen with that. But, when we tried to install SP4 we discovered that we were on v. 5.0.481 and in order to install the SP we had to be on at least 5.0.486 or higher. I have gone back through the SAP Download Center and downloaded every SP and upgrade (including the 5.1 upgrade/install) and all of them say you must be on 5.0.486 or higher.
How can we get from 5.0.481 to 5.0.486? I cannot find the file to bridge that one gap.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hi I think you are into version 5.0 not 5.1 and that's the problem.
So you have first to install 5.1 version and after that you will be able to apply SP4.
Into SMP you have to download 5.1 version and after you installed this version you will be able to install SP4.

  • Upgrading from BPC 7.0

    Hello All,
My company is currently using BPC 7.0 Microsoft Platform for our consolidations and reporting. We are considering upgrading to either the 7.5 with Netweaver or the new 10.0 version. I have a few questions:
    1. What is the difference between Netweaver and Microsoft BPC applications?
    2. What are the pros and cons of 7.5 vs 10.0?
    3. Can you give me a magnitude of the cost \ benefit associated with the move to a new version?
    Thanks.

    Hello Joseph,
I think is better you ask this question in the NetWeaver forum where you can find people they moved from Ms to NW and that can give you information about the NW different versions.
    Best regards

  • Upgrading from BPC MS version to Netweaver version 7.5

    Hi experts
My client is in the process of implementing the MS version of BPC but have now invested heavily in the Netweaver environment and would like to migrate to the NW version 7.5 of BPC.  Please can I get some views on the complexity involved in migration and whether there are any tools available to assist?
    Thank you.

    Hi,
As a matter of fact, there is a tool for migrating from MS to NW version. I would request you to get in touch with your local SAP RIG team for further information on this. There is a certification required for getting the access to this tool.
This toll will take care of most of the objects. However, there are few manual things to be done. BPFs cannot be migrated. Hence, you need to re-design the BPF in 7.5 NW. Lot of statement in script logic are not supported in the NW version. So, that needs to be re-visited.
    Hope this helps.

  • BPC 7.5 SP17 upgrade task list.

    Dear Expert,
I'm just beginner on BPC, previously i'm a BW consultant.
We are going to upgrade our BPC system from SP10 to SP17 (current version is BPC 7.5 on SAP netweaver 7.01 SP10)
Basis team will do the upgrade from D -> Q-> P system.
    So I want to know:
         1. Checklist for the tesing on the back end and front end side.
         2. Is there any other tasks from BPC consultant ( like Start and stop jobs, activate something)?
         3. Any related SAP note I should consider after upgrade?
    Thank you in advance.

    Hello Experts,
We have upgraded our BPC 7.5 SP6 to SP10 recently and we are facking issues when validating DEFAULT.LGF in the system, here is the complete content of DEFAULT.LGF , can you help on this?
we have activated the business content using UJS_ACTIVATE_CONTENT and all dimensions are having MBR_SEQ attribute in the system.

    Hi Anton,
It did not work . Thanks.
    Hi Srini,
As suggested by you i have commented out few lines to see where the code was failing exactly.
I do see we have maintained TERM_PER and START_PER in the property list of employee dimension with length 10 and 20 resp.
    *SELECT(%OPEN%, ID, TIME, PERIODSTATUS=OPEN)
    *SELECT(%ALLEMP%, ID, EMPLOYEE, CALC=N)
    //*SELECT(%TERMS%, ID, EMPLOYEE, TERM_PER<> )  //commented by S K
    //*SELECT(%NHIRES%, ID, EMPLOYEE, START_PER<> ) // commented by S K
    *SELECT(%INTERN%, ID, HCDATASRC, EMP_TYPE=INTERN)
I am not well versed with script logic, do you think commenting these lines will have impact else where within the reports/input schedules since this is DEFAULT LOGIC for my headcount applicaiton.
Please help me on this. Thanks.

  • BPC 7.5 MSFT SP05 to SP11 upgrade

    Hi BPC Experts,
We are running SAP BPC 7.5 SP05 (7.5.106.00) on Microsoft environment and will soon upgrade BPC to 7.5 SP11 (7.5.112.00).
I understand Service Pack 11 is cumulative but what about patch “7.5M SP11 Patch 5”? Are also patches cumulative so I just have to install that patch5 and not patch1,2,3,4,5?
After we have upgrade test server, will we still be able to restore applicationSets from production (BPC 7.5 SP5) to test server (BPC 7.5 SP11) even though BPC version differs?
I understand there is no way to revert back to BPC 7.5 SP5 in case we face issues after the upgrade to BPC.5 SP11. Correct?
In case we have to go back to previous version (BPC 7.5 SP5) we have to uninstall BPC application and reinstall BPC SP5?
So, in the process of uninstalling BPC, all applicationSet related  data will remain such as SQL databases, OLAP and fileDBs, webfolders etc  and I can just install BPC 7.5 SP5 again without any reconfiguration?
In SAP note 1803261 (7.5M SP11 Central Note) they mention “When restoring an application set after BPC 7.5M has been upgraded to this version, you must recreate the partition if an application has a custom OLAP partition”.
How can I tell if we have a custom OLAP partition?
    Thankyou and best regards,
    Jonas

    Hi Jonas,
I understand Service Pack 11 is cumulative but what about patch “7.5M SP11 Patch 5”? Are also patches cumulative so I just have to install that patch5 and not patch1,2,3,4,5?
normally the last one includes the others but if you look on the right link "info" for the patch you will found (sometimes just link to a note) the list of the notes and patch included. I think the last is pacth 6
After we have upgrade test server, will we still be able to restore applicationSets from production (BPC 7.5 SP5) to test server (BPC 7.5 SP11) even though BPC version differs?
there aren't changes in the structure\tables so you should be able to restore the appsets in the new version.
I understand there is no way to revert back to BPC 7.5 SP5 in case we face issues after the upgrade to BPC.5 SP11. Correct?
In case we have to go back to previous version (BPC 7.5 SP5) we have to uninstall BPC application and reinstall BPC SP5?

bpc don't give you the possibility of downgrade the version but the basis can do a snaphot before to start the upgrade and if not ok they can go back immediately to sp5 (before to do this it's better to understand where is the issue and eventually ask a SAP help).
In SAP note 1803261 (7.5M SP11 Central Note) they mention “When restoring an application set after BPC 7.5M has been upgraded to this version, you must recreate the partition if an application has a custom OLAP partition”.
How can I tell if we have a custom OLAP partition?
your basis should know if they have do an OLAP customization, if so you will loose the customizing and they should repeat it again on the new version.
After the upgrade don't forget to process all dims, to do a modify application also recreating the OLAP of all your applications and to do a full optimize.

  • BPC 7.5 for Netweaver : Upgrade SP

    Hi Experts,
    My co nfiguration :
    BPC 7.5 for NW , SP07.
    WOndowns Server 2008
I would like to Upgrade my BPC component from SP07 to the last SP.
    What's the process?
After upgrading to the last SP with SPAM, do I need to UJS_ACTIVATE_CONTENT again? (with clean and delete option?)
On the windows side, I think I have to uninstall and install the new version?
    Regards
    Chris

    Hi Chris,
It wouldn't hurt to use UJS_ACTIVATE_CONTENT to clean and then activate APSHELL after you update your BPC to the latest version.
There a few things triggered by this process like Process Chains, so if you re-create APSHELL you will ensure that it is up to date and also all the new AppSets based on it.
You might face issues with a Dimension Attribute named MBR__SEQ, if for some reason your dimensions don't have it then you may run UJA_MIGRATE_MBR_SEQ to fix it.
As you are coming from SP07 I believer there will be no issues with that.
Regarding the already existent AppSets there is no need to activate them again as far as I know.
On BPC Client you may face an issue where not all languages are available to be installed, but if you alternate between steps all languages should be displayed. This issue is present on the installer of BPC Client 7.5 SP09 up to 11.
If you don't have the AntiXssLibrary 3.1 I would recommend saving it from your current installation as it is no longer available on the Microsoft download portal. You may also follow [SAP Note 1679046|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1679046] for a workaround.

  • Upgrade BPC 7.5 SP3 MS

    Hi,
We have BPC5.1 SP11 on SQL Server 2005 and we want to upgrade to BPC 7.5 SP3 on SQL Server 2008.
Is there a SAP guide with all the steps necessary to be done to migrate an appset from 5.1 to 7.5?
I find something on Upgrade Guide 7M.pdf and SAP_BPC_70_SP04_M_Install.pdf, but this is for BPC 7.0.
For BPC 7.5 is there an official SAP guide? Are the migration steps the same?
    thanks
    best regards
    massimo

Massimo - The SAP website uses javascript so it is difficult to get an accurate direct link to any specific page.  Click on patrick's link and then navigate to version 7.5 MS on your left pane.  Then you should be able to see the 7.5M guides.
However, I'm noting that the guides are incomplete - for example, there is no Office or Admin guides for BPC 7.5 listed.
Does anyone know why?  Here are the guides listed for 7.5 Microsoft version:
SBOP Plan & Consol - CopyOpening Guide
SBOP Plan & Consol - Currency Conversion Guide
SBOP Plan & Consol - Intercompany Matching Guide
SBOP Plan & Consol 7.5 M Installation Guide

  • Upgrade BPC 7.53 to BPC 10.0

    Hello,
we are running on BW 7.3 with BPC Version 7.53 (not 7.50), which is necessary one for a NW 7.3 system. We would like to upgrade to BPC 10.0, but unfortunatelly SAP provides no explicit information about this scenario.
Does somebody know if this upgrade is supported by SAP?
Are there any experience with this scenario?
    Kind Regards
    Waldemar

    Hello,
I have opened an OSS message and the answer is as follows:
The upgrade from BPC NW 7.53 to BPC NW 10.0 is possible. Once it is
successfully done by an SAP partner or the SAP consulting service (who
are supposed to know exactly if there are some changes needed to be
done on the system) it will be supported by our primary support team.
Maybe this will help somebody else, too.

  • BPC 7.0 MS upgrade - reinitiate SSIS packages required

    Hello,
We have recently upgraded from BPC 5.1 to BPC 7.0 MS version.
We have SSIS package to load Accounts (as flat file), which load the flat file into a staging table and then moved to <mbraccount>.
This setup works very fine till in BPC 5.1, after upgrade to BPC 7.0 MS and noticed that the Account - member are loaded in jumbled order. Further investigating, we found that the SSIS packages loaded to staging table in the same jumbled order and then followed to copy the same in mbraccount table.
    1. Should we required to re-initiate all the SSIS packages (custom built) after BPC 7.0 MS upgrade?
    2. Have SSIS packages to load other MasterData, the same procedure as above but no issues in display order of dimension members. Why is it so?
    Any clue..
    Thanks in advance.
    Warm Regards
    Uma

    Hi Tim,
    Thanks for the reply.
No change in the versions SQL SERVER  2005 and EXCEL 2003 for both SAP 5.1 and 7.0.112
These DM packages are customised and flow of data is as below:
Flat File -->  Clear the staging table (delete from stage) --> load the flatfile data into Staging table ( via Data Flow task, Table - Fast load option) --> clear the MBR tbl --> Copy Stage into MBRACCOUNT table
Not using the SSIS bulk insert.
This works well after gone live almost for 4-5 months in BPC 5.1 and as said recently upgraded in Mid June 2009, we have issues loading MasterData in jumbled order.
Account ids are all numeric. Flat file extracted from SAP R/3 is in correct sequential order and while loading into Stagingtable.. it sorting order varies and then copied the same into Mbr<dim> table.
Should this problem be with SSIS packages? Any clues.
    Warm Regards
    Uma
