Upgraded to Flash CS5/Flash Player 10, Bad Stuff Happened

Hey guys.
So I finally finished my Flash game the other week after months of working on it and have currently been on the hunt for a sponsor.  Everything was going great and I've even had ideas for new games.  I didn't want to start them until I upgraded to CS5, so yesterday I bought/installed Flash CS5.
This also appears to have updated my Flash Player from 9 (8?, I dunno what it was) to 10.
Now, when I go play my .SWF of my completed game (which was made in AS3 in CS3) it's acting all crappy.  Certain functions aren't being called to stop sounds, the game isn't playing right in certain areas, etc...
I'm *this* close to just smashing something against the wall.
Does anyone have any idea how I could fix this / has this happened to anyone else?
BONUS CRAZIES:  I opened up the CS3 .FLA in CS5 and saved it as the newer CS5 format.  I then exported a new .SWF and not only is it still acting crappy, now certain movieclip images have been completely swapped with other TOTALLY unrelated movieclips.  This absolutely makes no sense...
Is there some way I should be saving this or something to get it to work the same no matter what the Flash Player?  I mean, I can see the game not working right if I was using an older Flash Player version, but a newer one?
Thanks for any help.

Thanks for the link to the online CS5 docs.
Within the docs, the page that seems to come closest to answering the question is this: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Flash/CS5/Using/WS3D3F757E-6EEB-4f6b-BC7F-BE8F94D329E1.html
However that page seems to be simply an update of the CS4 page: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Flash/10.0_UsingFlash/WS3D3F757E-6EEB-4f6b-BC7F-BE8F94D329E1.h tml
So we might easily conclude that no changes have been made to 3D support in CS5 verses CS4.
Currently (at least at the CS4 level) the only solutions for people wanting to 3d graphics in flash are things like Papervision3d, which are great, but use huge amounts of CPU resources because they don't take advantage of GPU capacity like DirectX / OpenGL / o3d etc do.
However I have heard it said that Flash 10.1 and CS5 support GPU accelerated type 3D graphics (like DirectX or OpenGL or Google's o3d on the web).
They even mention something about this in the introduction video to CS5.
I think many developers have been waiting for this for a long time.
So if it is true, I am surprise that there is not a big fanfare and lots of documentation about it.
However I cannot find any.
Does this functionality exist?
If so where is the documentation?
Many thanks for help, if anyone knows.

  • 3d in flash Cs5 / flash player 10.1 - where is the info on this?

    I have been hunting for documentation / news on any new 3d features in flash Cs5 / FP 10.1.
    On the CS5 intro video it mentions GPU acceleration is supported by FP10.1
    Anyone know where is the documentation on this?
    Does FP10.1 support a serious native 3D engine, or are we still going to be using another layer on top, like such as Papervision (impressive as Papervision and the others are - they are not taking advantage of GPU to do rendering).
    Grateful for any pointers to documentation on this.

  • Performance for flash CS5 & flash CS5.5

    Hi all,
    I use flash CS5 to publish my apps for Ipad, the application runs quite smooth.
    But when I use flash CS5.5 to publish my apps for Ipad, the application turns to be jerky & lagging.
    Can I know what setting to use when i exporting my apps?
    I set the rendering as GPU.
    Bruce

    Can you dislay NativeApplication.nativeApplication.runtimeVersion to some text field from your application when running it on iOS device after publishing it from both - Flash CS5 and CS5.5 ?
    Thanks,

  • Flash cs5.5 player 10.3 problem

    Hello,
    Having seen the new player version 10.3 and the possibilities that interests me next microphone. I decided to install it.
    The installation went well, in my publish settings I can select 10.3.
    As against this does not work very well I would say not at all in the end.
    My code:
    mic = Microphone.getEnhancedMicrophone();
    var options:MicrophoneEnhancedOptions = new MicrophoneEnhancedOptions();
    options.mode = MicrophoneEnhancedMode.FULL_DUPLEX;
    options.autoGain = false;
    options.echoPath = 128;
    options.nonLinearProcessing = true;
    mic.enhancedOptions = options;
    mic.rate = 44;
    mic.gain = 80;
    mic.setSilenceLevel(0, 1000000);
    mic.setUseEchoSuppression(true);
    mic.setLoopBack(false);
    mic.addEventListener("sampleData", _in);
    I have this compilation error:
    VerifyError: Error # 1014: Class flash.media: MicrophoneEnhancedOptions was not found.
    I read everywhere and I try in my browser that I spent in 10.3, I use Firefox, also tested with IE and Chrome ..
    I see no change in my microphone popup that should give me the option of echo cancellation.
    I need your help because this version would solve all my problems.
    thank you

    Search for the playerglobal.swc in google for flash player 10.3 and configure it in the program files folder with the relevant 10.3 xml. you will get the flash player 10.3 in the publish setting dialog then you can directly target 10.3 from the flash. It works.

  • Properly updating Flash CS5.5 to use the lastest Flash Player/Debugger

    Hey all,
    I'm just about to uninstall and reinstall at this point but I'm getting my install all screwed up trying to update Flash Pro CS5.5 to use Flash Player 11. I had it fine using the MXP provided in this adobe blog. Though that's 11.0 not 11.1. It did work however.
    I downloaded the latest Flash Player / Debugger .exe and the latest SWC for 11.1 and now Stage3D is no longer being seen. Clearly I screwed something up. I uninstalled and reinstalled the MXP after deleting the FP11 XML and FP11 directory but it's not working anymore.
    Is there a clear cut simple way to explain how to overlay the latest Flash Player for FPCS5.5?
    I used the AIR overlay instructions for 2.6 - 3.1 and it worked every time. Now I just need Flash Player overlay instructions.
    I'm very interested to start trying to Starling framework with Stage3D. I select FP11 to export and it tells me it can't find Stage3D. D'oh!
    Thanks for tips!

    Just an update. Upon printing flash.system.Capabilities.version I can see for CTRL+ENTER it's using version WIN 10,2,153,2. When I do a debug test it's using version WIN 11,1,102,55. That clearly explains why Stage3D is only available in debug testing.
    I did overlay release and debug .exes in the Flash CS5.5 Player folder. Does anyone know of another place I might need to overwrite the flash player or which .exe CTRL+ENTER actually launches?

  • Flash Builder Debugging keeps trying to Debug in Flash CS5. HELP!

    Hello
    I have the CS5 master suit installed (OSX) and am having loads of problems using the stand alone Flash Player debugger in Flash Builder.
    Previously I had an error message saying it could not find the debugger, I've obviously done something as now it keeps on opening Flash CS5 and using the Flash CS5 IDE Player and gicing me this message. Error #2032: Stream Error. URL: file:////Volumes/Macintosh%20HD/Library/WebServer/Documents/TestDebug2/bin%2Ddebug/textLa yout_1.0.0.595.swf
    All I want to do is use the stand alone debug flash player and debug in Flash Builder. Am I able to point Flash Builder to use a certain Debugger?
    Can anybody help me?

    I figured it out.
    Although Adobe should have this working out of the box in my opinion.
    Running OSX 10.6.4 Master Suite CS5
    By default a swf opens in Flash CS5 and not the stand alone player (as I'm sure it did before in previous versions). So when you wanted to debug using the stand alone player from Flash Builder it was opening up in Flash CS5
    To fix I changed the default open with program to the Flash Player Debugger. Now Flash Builder by default uses the stand alone Flash Player Debugger.
    Hope this help any body.

  • Flash CS5 Windows 7 64-bits problem

    Hello and thank you for reading my problem and trying to help. I actually have a Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bits. So I've downloaded, extracted and installed Flash correctly. When I try to open the software, on the loading screen, the loading slows down on fonts and when building workspace a window appears and flash just freezes. I've tried running as an administrator, compatibility mode, yet nothing seems to work. When i checked out the folder, I found error logs. They are all the same, here's the content of one:

    Hi,
    In case some people are still trying to find a solution to this problem.
    In order to solve this I had to do the following:
    Assuming you installed the latest Java Runtime, in my case Java 1.6, you will need to uninstall it from your machine, delete the  bin and lib folders from C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CS5\jre.
    The next step google for ‘Java Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 22′.Install it and then  copy the bin and lib folders back to C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CS5\jre. After that you can go and install Java runtime 1.6 back. It’s  works with no errors now. The issue seems to be that Java 1.6 does not play nicely with Flash CS5 and CS5.5. This link helped me find the solution.

  • Flash CS5 crashes on exit

    I have Adobe CS5 Master Collection trial installed on Windows XP Pro Service Pack 3, 32bit operating system.
    Every time I try to exit Flash CS5, no matter how (File/Exit, ALT+F4...) it crashes and won't close the window.
    While I work in Flash, open and close documents it works fine.
    Is it up to my operating system or Flash IDE? Is there any solution for this?

    I would like an answer on this too.
    I just laid down some hard earned cash on CS5, and I installed Flash. I am running Windows 7 x64 Ultimate. It crashes on exit, no matter what. I tried everything, resetting preferences, running in compatibility mode, nothing works; it crashes on exit.

  • Update the Player Flash CS5 Uses (In Test Movie)

    So Flash CS5 came with a beta version of Flash Player 10.1.
    Now that the official release of Flash Player 10.1 is released, how do I update what Flash CS5 uses when I Test Movie?
    I have so far updated the Flash Player in my browser and my standalone players but I can't seem to figure out how to update the Player that Flash CS5 uses.
    This wouldn't be so bad if the beta of 10.1 wasn't breaking my project because of bugs.
    Any help appreciated.

    More bumps, there has to be a way to do this.  Adobe wouldn't cement in a beta verison of Flash Player into Flash CS5 would they?

  • Flash Builder Standalone player opens Flash CS5

    Hi I have just upgraded to Flash Builder 4, and I'm running it on MAC  OSX 10.6.4. I am trying to run my projects in the standalone Flash  Player, and everytime I try to run my project Flash Builder opens Flash  CS5. I have previoulsy used Flex Builder 3, and never had this issue.  Can somone help me out with this issue?

    Hi,
    Flash Builder simply tells the OS to launch the SWF when generate HTML wrapper is off.
    Go to Finder, right click a swf file, choose "Get Info".
    Say open with, point to a standalone Flash Player and choose "Change All".
    Note: We understand this is not an ideal experience - see this post for more details: http://forums.adobe.com/message/2909868#2909868

  • After the latest firefox upgrade and the Adobe Flash Player upgrade, Silverlight, which runs Netflix Instant, is not working... any connection? Thanks!

    Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; en-US; rv:1.9.2.15) Gecko/20110303 Firefox/3.6.15 GTB7.1
    That is my system info ~ my firewall is open and I have no anti-virus software installed.
    On Netfilx, when I click Play on an Instant movie, a screen comes up that tells me there is an upgrade for Silverlight. Click the button, go thru what looks like a full install series of windows, go back to click Play, and the same screen comes up. It has happened for the last 48 hours or so, consistently. I opened Chrome and Safari, had the same result.
    A Ustream site I follow, also using a Mac, has been getting kicked off that system all day, getting an error message that references Adobe Flash Player ~ he just upgraded, like I did, and wonders if there is a problem with it ~ got me thinking...
    Thank You Firefox community!
    GlenJudith

    From what I can tell, the problem is not Silverlight, it is the flash plugin (10.3). I uninstalled and went back to FLASH 10.1 and Netflix, flash videos, flash based applications, etc all worked again on my brand new computer. Very unfortunate and frustrating.

    renka,
    When you uninstall and reinstall, it is always worth running the Cleaner Tool in between.

  • Updating Flash CS5 Built-In Player, Flex SDK 4.1

    QUESTION 1:
    I'm trying to update the built-in player of Flash CS5 to the latest 10.1.53.64 version.
    I've downloaded and replaced the "Players" folder from this link:  http://www.adobe.ca/support/flashplayer/downloads.html. However, when i trace which version Flash CS5 uses when launching from the built-in player, it displays "MAC 10,1,52,14".  How can i update this?!
    QUESTION 2:
    what is the proper way to update the Flex SDK for Flash CS5?  after installing the software, i see it's using Flex 4.0, but i want to update it to the current version 4.1.  the default install includes $(AppConfig)/ActionScript 3.0/libs/11.0/textLayout.swc, but i removed that and simply placed the Flex 4.1 version of textLayout.swc in the $(AppConfig)/ActionScript 3.0/libs folder, but how can i perminantly remove the reference to $(AppConfig)/ActionScript 3.0/libs/11.0/textLayout.swc?
    i've search for information on updating libraries, .swc files, etc. for Flash but it's not clear.  links containing clear, up-to-date instructions on how to properly update Flash CS5 would be greatly appreciated.

    If I had to summarize my problem in ten words :
    With Flex 4.5 SDK and AIR 2.6 SDK I can stream dynamic http in the VideoPlayer element, but it won't play on a Samsung TV.
    With Flex 4.1 SDK and AIR 2.6 SDK I can launch the app on a Samsung TV, but the VideoPlayer element won't play any dynamic http stream.
    I assume this problem comes from OSMF because it is the library supposedly handling the dynamic streaming. I just can't make it work within Flex 4.1 :
    If I delete the native osmf.swc and remove it from the Flex Build Path properties, Flash Builder won't compile, claiming there is an error, even if I add other more recent osmf.swc.
    If I don't delete it and still add another one, either I get a conflict error or a "not found" error. either way it won't compile.

  • Enlarging text in XSPF player w/Flash CS5

    I took a class in Flash way back when it first came out. I haven't used it since then until I recently got the CS5 version for a specific task. I'm revising a small site which includes articles about musicians and sound clips of their work. The mp3 player I'm using is the open-source XSPF Player. It has a clean minimal look that fits my page design. The only problem is the text size inside the player that shows the artist name, song title, etc. It's way too small. I contacted one of the people who has released a modified version of this player, and he said yes it would be no problem to modify the .swf file to display the text differently. However, when I open the player with Flash, the tools are grayed out. I explored all the options on the menus and panels without finding a way to get at the insides of this player. I've two options here: 1-Get specific advice from one of you who has used Flash more than I have, or 2-Get advice about the location a good tutorial. I tried Googling the info I need but didn't get useful results. Any tips? Here's a page where I've implemented the player ...
    http://www.keithpurtell.com/kthings/fripp.htm

    Never can tell when a question will be answered in this forum and when it will be ignored.
    Anyway...
    More research has yielded the likely answer, for the benefit of anyone else trying to do the same thing I'm doing and searches here.
    To get inside a .swf file and change it with Flash CS5, the file must be converted to its previous .fla version. There are a wide variety of swf-to-fla converters available, some commercially and some for free. Use Google to find them. Good luck!

  • Upgrade an iOS app made in Flash CS5 to Flash CS5.5

    Hi, I developed an App and I published it on the Apple App Store about a month ago, when I was still using Adobe Flash CS5.
    Now I bought the latest version of Adobe Flash, the CS5.5 and I want to upgrade my exiting app with the Retina Display support.
    The problem is that when I try to upload my IPA into Application Loader, it gives me a strange error... it says that I can't upgrade my app because I'm using an higher mininumOSVersion......in fact Flash CS5 has got a 3.0/3.2 minum and the CS5.5 4.0/4.2........How can I change them and upgrade my app???
    Please, help me it's for an important company...
    bye and thanks
    Brandon

    Here is my understanding of the updating rules for iOS apps. Once you publish an app targeting a specific OS, any further update to that app must target that OS. Since Flash CS5.5 only targets 2.6 and later, which has a dependency on iOS 4 or later, you are as you discovered stuck. I think you solution is to create a new version, "My Awesome App HD" and then publish via CS5.5 to get the performance and Retina support you want.
