Upgrading from 9.2.0.4 to 9.2.0.6 fails.
Hi!
Here's the problem.
We have been upgrading the Oracle on our systems to 9.2.0.6 in anticipation of further upgrades this summer. We have successfully upgraded three of our five boxes. When we try to upgrade our QA system the OUI starts (with the command prompt windows) and then stops after 20 - 30 seconds with nothing else happening. When I check the Task Manager there is a process called JAVAW.EXE that is running. If we try to run the install agaoin the same thng happens. Each time a new instance of the JAVAW.EXE is started. Each time we try to run the install there is also a folder created under the users (in this case the admin user) Local Settings|Temp folder with a date and time stamp as part of the folder name. If we have not shutdown all the JAVAW.EXE proccesses when we try to remove the folders the one with a cooresponding JAVW.EXE.
We have moved the install location to other drives on the server and tried but that didn't help. I've tried running the setup from the various locations that I found a SETUP.EXE file. Everything we have tried has failed. We are not getting any error messages, log files (that I have been able to find) or any indication on what is failing other than the fact that it appears to be some kind of problem with the paths to the install files.
If someone has encountered this before then what do I need to do to fix this?
Thanks in advance;
Gale.
Tim;
Thanks for the reply.
In response to your questions we are trying to upgrade the OUI to 10.1. as part of the Oracle upgrade. But that is where the install is failing, at the start of the OUI upgrade. The version current on the system is 2.2 but this is the same version that was on the other systems that we successfully upgraded.
Our Java version as reported by java -v is 1.4.2.
Just a note, and I don't know how relevant this is. When I go into the TEMP folder under the user (i.e. c:\documents and settings\gale\local settings\temp) at the folder that the install process creates I find a SETUP.EXE file in a OUI\BIN folder. When I try to run that the behavior is as described but when the failure occurs there is a dialog box stating that the Java Runtime Environment can't be found and instructs us the go to the Java web site and install Java. I have removed and re-installed the Java environment several times (J2RE versions from 1.4.2 to 1.5.0). This has no affect on the install process, it still fails as above.
I have also made sure that there were no spaces in any of the paths and I have even tried setting new paths to the Temp folders in the system variables (restoring them after trying of course). I have also compared the path variables from a working system to the QA system to make sure that the paths were in the same format (with the approrate folders for the different system.). We have also removed and re-ran the download to recreate the setup folders (sometimes with different target folders). All this has not helped correct the install issue.
I did find a thread on the Oracle Metadata forum but that thread ended with am Oracle guru advising the submitter to log a SR/TAR with Oracle. I am hoping that another SAP user has encountered this and has the solution.
Thanks for giving my your ear for a short, hope this info helps.

Note: Set the ORACLE_HOME to the OMS_HOME
1. Drop the existing repository:
<OMS_HOME>/sysman/admin/emdrep/bin/RepManager <repository_hostname> <repository_listener_port> <repository_sid> -action drop
2. Create a new repository:
<OMS_HOME>/sysman/admin/emdrep/bin/RepManager <repository_hostname> <repository_listener_port> <repository_sid> -action create
3. Re-secure the OMS. This is neccessary as the previous secure key has been lost due to the repository being recreated:
<OMS_HOME>/bin/emctl secure oms -sysman_pwd <sysman password> -reg_pwd <OMS registration password>
4. Start the OMS:
<OMS_HOME>/opmn/bin/opmnctl startall
5. Re-secure any agents that access the OMS:
<AGENT_HOME>/bin/emctl secure agent
After performing this step the OMS upgrade is done fine, But when tried to install the required software libraries as a part of the post installation task,the administration link is not present under deployments>> provisioning.
Then tried
+ ./runConfig.sh ORACLE_HOME=/opt/oracle/OEM/oms10g ACTION=Configure MODE=Perform which gave java.lang.NullPointerException errors
+ Also ran the runInstaller again during which the deployment configuration assistant configured successfully.
Still the administrator and other tabs are not present under deployments>> Provisioning
Any help is appreciated.

Problems upgrading from LMS 3.0 to LMS 3.2 - the backup fails.
I'm upgrading from LMS 3.0 to LMS 3.2 on Solaris. I've met all of the prereq's, patches, etc. It keeps failing on the Backup...It claims I need 15 Gig for the backup. The backup directory I'm using (/opt/backup) has 35 Gig free, so that shouldn't be the issue.

I've tried this multiple times and each time it appears to fail on a different file/folder in the sw_images directory. This is our FTP directory where we store lots of IOS images for download. I've removed each of these files it errors out on and it keeps failing. I just removed all files from the sw_images folder and am trying the backup again now.
I'm attaching the backup.log which contains the failure information for each backup I've tried in the past two days.
My main question is...can I skip this backup somehow? I've got another LMS 3.0 system that I can export everything I need from. Skipping the backup isn't an option on the install/upgrade? It gives me the option to quit the install or try the backup again.
Thanks,You can skip the backup with a hidden option:
./setup.sh -b nobackup
However, I wouldn't feel comfortable until figuring out why the backup has been failing, ostensibly because tar is running into the 255-char limit (100 for the filename and 155 for the path), a result of the many iterations of the following:

Is it really possible to upgrade from a Treo 650 to a Treo 750?
I am not a very happy customer at the moment, but any help would be greatly appreciated. I upgraded from my old Palm Tungsten to a Zire, then to a Cingular Treo 650, combining three devices into one. I have since discovered that the Treo 650 seems to have a faulty transmission mode, as I can rarely be clearly understood by whomever I call. Am on the second (or third, I have lost track) and continue to have the same problem. I get five bars of reception but can't be understood on the other end. A bit of a problem when one is trying to call 911. Am constantly told I am "breaking up". The repair shop says it "Can't duplicate the problem". OK, then I do not want to give up all the info I have stored in the fool thing, and the 750 seems to have a different system, so I thought I would try that. All the stuff I could find seemed to indicate it wouldn't be a problem to upgrade. When the 750 arrived, I tried to install the software from the CD on my Windows XP computer. No dice. Setup encounters an error and closes. Can't even look at the files, because setup tries to run any time I access the CD. From any drive. Gave it to my girlfiend to check on her computer, and the CD seemed to run fine. Other CDs work just fine on my computer. Must be some kind of conflict, but what? Tried calling the AT&T number that suggested they could help with setup, and was first connected to the business center, they routed me to the laptop center, who routed me to the network center, who said they would have to bring in the Palm customer service and connected me to a Mac guy that dumped me back to a menu that took me to someone for whom English is a second language with whom I was trying to communicate over a very poor satellite connection. They made no sense anyway. telling me first that I couldn't have two desktops running (wrong, my girlfriend has my old Zire and the CD worked fine) and then insisting that the serial number on my device had to start with a P, when it clearly does not have any alpha characters in it. Gave up on that route of assistance. Managed to get the new ActiveSync installed from my girlfriends computer over the network. Great. Now let's get my 650 synced with Outlook (which I have not used at home) and see if we can move on. Nope. First I have to update Outlook 2000 from the old Win98 to my current XP. Find the old CD, and square that away. OK, now sync to Outlook. Nope. The sync program gives an error, saying it will only sync with Outlook 98, 2000, and XP(2002). Good grief. I have Outlook 2000, and the software apparently does not recognize it. If the Palm doesn't work, there is no reason for me to keep this phone, and I am very close to returning it and abandoning the Palm entirely when I upgrade to something that works, although I dread re-entering all that information.

This question was solved.
View Solution.Thanks for the feedback. Today I installed an Enterprise version of Office 2007 I purchased a while back, but had not yet installed. Microsoft presented a few challenges, but they were quickly resolved. I then downloaded the appropriate conduit from Palm, and synced the 650 with the handheld overwriting the computer. Then used Active Destop to sync the 750. Satisfied I had moved as much info as possible, I called AT&T and had them move the phone number to the new Treo.
Bonus! When the guy at AT&T called me on the new phone to verify it, he said it sounded better than my landline.
Sorry for the streaming paragraph. When it is late I tend to write like I think.

I upgraded from iPhone 3GS to iPhone 6. Everything converted fine. Yesterday I deleted an app in error. When I downloaded the software it from iTunes ( did this many times on the old 3GS), my account is no longer recognized by the app's host servers (Playtika), even though it did after the initial conversion. Can I go back and re-sync just one app from my old phone?

Can't print from IE 8 after upgrading from Vista to Windows 7
My laptop (HP Elitebook 8530w) uses two HP printers: Color LaserJet CP3525x (at work) and Deskjet 6940 (at home). Both printers are accessed across a local network.
I recently upgraded from Vista Enterprise to Windows 7 Enterprise.
Everything still prints fine (from Word, Adobe Reader, Windows Photo Viewer, etc.), except for IE 8! When I try to print a web page from IE, it prints only the page header, and otherwise the sheet is empty. This symptom occurs on both printers. (And of course this worked fine before the upgrade.)
Any ideas? Thanks for any help.

If anyone else is having this problem, I found the solution on another forum (http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/InternetExplorer/thread/920588e5-ccc4-4e24-83d6-606...).
Specifically, the following steps solved the problem:
1. If it doesn't already exist, create a directory named "Low" in your directory "C:\Users\<your_user_name>\AppData\Local\Temp\".
2. From a command prompt, issue this command: ICACLS C:\Users\<your_user_name>\AppData\Local\Temp\Low /setintegritylevel (OI)(CI)low

Fields in read-only mode for BP transaction in upgrade from 4.72 to ECC6.0
Hello,
This is regarding the query for BP transaction in upgrade from 4.72 to ECC 6.0.
While creating BP / Changing BP system is disabling the fields in compnay code & sales area option. There is a SAP not provided 907860; and specified that the proplem is because of the delta customizing.
All the customization settings are as per the note. And the Synchronization Control is also activated. But still the fields are disabled only.
I have checked the field settings also in Cross-Application-Components & Logistic-Genral.
But these are not working for compnay code & sales area data.
please let me know if anyone has faced this type of problem / found any solution on this.
Best Regards,
ShubhadaSAP IMG -> Cross Application Components -> Master Data Synchronization  Synchronization Control -> Synchronization Control -> Activate Synchronization options
This setting allows you to activate synchronization of BP with R/3. Not maintaining the values may result in certain fields being read-only in BP.
Suggested Values:
Source Object: BP | Target Object: CUSTOMER | Active Indicator : X
Source Object: BP | Target Object: VENDOR | Active Indicator : X
Source Object: CUSTOMER | Target Object: BP | Active Indicator : X
Source Object: VENDOR | Target Object: BP | Active Indicator : X
Have you set all of the above settings??

Regards,
A.Kamel -
I've recently completed a database upgrade from 10.2.0.3 to 11.2.0.1 using the DBUA.
I've since encountered a slowdown when running a script which drops and recreates a series of ~250 tables. The script normally runs in around 19 seconds. After the upgrade, the script requires ~2 minutes to run.
By chance has anyone encountered something similar?
The problem may be related to the behavior of an "after CREATE on schema" trigger which grants select privileges to a role through the use of a dbms_job call; between 10g and the database that was upgraded from 10G to 11g. Currently researching this angle.
I will be using the following table creation DDL for this abbreviated test case:
create table ALLIANCE (
ALLIANCEID NUMBER(10) not null,
NAME VARCHAR2(40) not null,
CREATION_DATE DATE,
constraint PK_ALLIANCE primary key (ALLIANCEID)
using index
tablespace LIVE_INDEX
tablespace LIVE_DATA;When calling the above DDL, an "after CREATE on schema" trigger is fired which schedules a job to immediately run to grant select privilege to a role for the table which was just created:
create or replace
trigger select_grant
after CREATE on schema
declare
l_str varchar2(255);
l_job number;
begin
if ( ora_dict_obj_type = 'TABLE' ) then
l_str := 'execute immediate "grant select on ' ||
ora_dict_obj_name ||
' to select_role";';
dbms_job.submit( l_job, replace(l_str,'"','''') );
end if;
end;
{code}
Below I've included data on two separate test runs. The first is on the upgraded database and includes optimizer parameters and an abbreviated TKPROF. I've also, included the offending sys generate SQL which is not issued when the same test is run on a 10g environment that has been set up with a similar test case. The 10g test run's TKPROF is also included below.
The version of the database is 11.2.0.1.

Edited by: user8598842 on Mar 11, 2010 5:08 PMSo while this certainly isn't the most elegant of solutions, and most assuredly isn't in the realm of supported by Oracle...
I've used the DBMS_IJOB.DROP_USER_JOBS('username'); package to remove the 194558 orphaned job entries from the job$ table. Don't ask, I've no clue how they all got there; but I've prepared some evil looks to unleash upon certain developers tomorrow morning.
Not being able to reorganize the JOB$ table to free the now wasted ~67MB of space I've opted to create a new index on the JOB$ table to sidestep the full table scan.
CREATE INDEX SYS.JOB_F1_THIS_NEXT ON SYS.JOB$ (FIELD1, THIS_DATE, NEXT_DATE) TABLESPACE SYSTEM;The next option would be to try to find a way to grant the select privilege to the role without using the aforementioned "after CREATE on schema" trigger and dbms_job call. This method was adopted to cover situations in which a developer manually added a table directly to the database rather than using the provided scripts to recreate their test environment.
I assume that the following quote from the 11gR2 documentation is mistaken, and there is no such beast as "create or replace table" in 11g:
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e10592/statements_9003.htm#i2061306
"Dropping a table invalidates dependent objects and removes object privileges on the table. If you want to re-create the table, then you must regrant object privileges on the table, re-create the indexes, integrity constraints, and triggers for the table, and respecify its storage parameters. Truncating and replacing have none of these effects. Therefore, removing rows with the TRUNCATE statement or replacing the table with a *CREATE OR REPLACE TABLE* statement can be more efficient than dropping and re-creating a table." -
Hi Microsoft,
Since we have upgraded from Exchange 2007 to 2013 users complain their conversations in Outlook are no longer grouped based on the subject of an e-mail. I looks like Outlook uses other message properties for grouping e-mails in a conversation.
I have investigated all the forum topics and see that with exchange 2010 there is support added for the use of conversation-ID's. However the functionality to automatically group e-mails with the same subject in one conversation in Outlook is gone!
I would like to know if there is a fix to implement so that some our users get this functionality back. For Example: Let the exchange server not generate conversation-ID's and message-ID's for certain users.
Your help is greatly appreciated!Totally correct!
If you don't plan to maintain Outlook then you plan to fail :(
Additional links etc are in here:

Upgrade from SCCM 2012 SP1 CU4 to R2 Fails - Unsupported Upgrade Path
Hi everybody,
I'm currently upgrading our SCCM infrastructure to SCCM 2012 R2 after have finished with the upgrade from SCCM 2012 RTM to SP1 CU4, thus far everything works fine, but when I try to update any
of the site servers, whether CAS or Primary, I'm getting the following error message in the Prerequisites Check:
I've gone through the system requirements and prerequisites over and over again and I can assure you that every possible update, supported OS, feature set, SQL Server, check list, etc,
etc, have been followed as per the official documentation available, however I'm stuck in this point, and surely enough I haven't been able to find out a similar case.Additionally I'm adding
the ConfigMgrPrereq log (the relevant portion of it) in case someone could kindly take a look at it.

-2014 02:07:00> INFO: Detected current installed build version [7711] for sitecode [BRA]. For Upgrade, minimum supported installed build version is [7804].
I confirm that this one site is a secondary one that's attached to a primary site and this log is from the CAS server, I managed to tall it and delete it from that site, but still appears listed
on the CAS management console, any idea how to force the removal of a secondary site that's attached to a primary from the CAS site when it has been removed already from said primary?
I've already tried the
Preinst /DELSITE XXX command but it only works when the site to remove it's attached to the local site and certainly not from a CAS
Finally, the version, build number and everything is correct, no idea what could be the problem, does anybody know a way to bypass this or force the re-evaluation of this rules, I've got
the impression that it's being cached somehow.
Any help would be highly appreciated,
Thank you.
Marcelo Estrada MCP-MCTS-MCITP-MCSA-MCSEHello again everybody,
I've finally managed to fix this up, in the end I had to delete those entries manually from the database as Garry suggested. After this was done the upgrade has gone through as expected with no further ado and has finalized already, now moving on to the
primary sites.
If anybody out there is facing the same issue, what I did was to delete those "stubborn" records executing the following statements over the CAS database:
DELETE
FROMServerDataWHERESiteCode='XXX'
DELETE
FROMSC_SiteDefinitionWHERESiteCode='XXX'
And this is pretty much about it. I'd recommend to take a proper backup first though as best practice.
Thank you all anyways for your answers and comments,
Marcelo Estrada MCP-MCTS-MCITP-MCSA-MCSE
