Upgrading from old CS?

I have CS on my 5 year old MacBook. I am not able to upload the software to my new MacBook Pro due to the newer processor.  If I want to upgrade the software, what should I buy?

You cannot upgrade a version that old.
You have two choices…buy a full license or move to Creative Cloud.

    Call Apple and make a appointment.
    You have 3 months of care and up to 3 years with paid AppleCare, let them handle it and bring everything in.

  • Upgrading from old system - have storage/networking/Photos ?s

    Hello,
    I want to upgrade from an old system and have a few questions:
    1.)  What are the advantages and disadvantages of getting a Time Capsule vs getting an Airport Extreme and a non-Apple external (cheaper) hard drive?
    2.)  If I get a 1TB SSD internal, then I only need a 2TB, not 3TB, Time Capsule, right, if I do get a Time Capsule?
    3.)  Time Capsule backups are not bootable, right?
    4.)  I plan on keeping my photos, etc. off the main drive and on an external drive so I envision my set up as being one internal, one base external and a backup drive of the internal and a backup drive of the external.  If TC backups are indeed not bootable, then is it possible to partition my external hd into two sections, one that is bootable and one that is used to store the photos and other stuff?
    5.)  For those who are already using Photos, is it possible to have your Photos Library on an external disk and/or have multiple libraries or do you have to use a program like iPhoto Library Manager like before?
    6.)  Is there a way, that's not too expensive, to hook up an old Cinema HD Display that has a ADC connector to a thunderbolt iMac?
    7.)  I don't particularly like the new OS's flat-look, is there a way to customize how the OS looks?  I remember WAY back in the day one could almost totally change the way the OS looked (colors/dimensionality) and sounded.  Are there third party ways of doing that like before?
    THANKS in advance for any and all help!!!

    1 no, other then it's build in
    2 time machine is not a carbon copy it backup the state where you did not have file x yet and back up when you had file x and backup when you no longer had file x, given enough time it will fill up all backup drives, when it does you can draw a line in the sand and clear the backup and start from new with a backup of how the computer is at that given time.
    3 no
    5 yes but it has to be a drive that can be indexed so a nas would not work external drives such as usb, tb and the likes would
    6
    Connecting cinema display to mini mac
    more
    hook up ADC display with new mac
    7 not apart from downgrading the OS X to an older system or if you find some third party program which alters the look

  • Upgrading from old Mac to new- how to sync iPhone with new Mac?

    Hi all,
    My dad is upgrading from an old iBook to a nice new iMac. He has spent quite a few days tweaking his new iMac and importing old files and folders. The one thing we haven't yet done, though, is iTunes. He has an iBook G3 that he syncs his iPhone with, and he wants to be able to "move" his whole iTunes setup to the new iMac so that it picks up right where the iBook left off, without needing to reset the iPhone.
    One thing to keep in mind is that the iBook had a tiny hard drive and thus the music files are actually on an external hard drive. I was wondering how to go about this feat. I read that using Migration Assistant deletes everything off the new Mac, so that's not an option at this point. Thanks for the help!

    If you had use Migration Assistant to start with it would have been easier.

  • Upgrading from old version

    I'm wondering about the upgrade procedure for AE CS3 and CS4. If I had a old version of AE like, say 5.5, could I upgrade to AE CS3 if I'm on a Mac running Leopard? If I understand correctly AE 5.5 works on Mac OS 9 and below... So does the previous version of AE actually need to be installed or would I just need the serial number?
    Hope this makes sense.
    Thanks

    You don't need to have the previous version installed in your machine. You only need to have the serial number from the old version.
    After Effects CS3 can be upgraded from AE 5.x or newer.
    After Effects CS4 can be upgraded from AE 6.x or newer.

  • Upgrading from old versions

    A colleague and I have just received new PC's. They came with
    Microsoft Office 2003 pre-installed. Previously we were using
    Robohelp 2002 with MS Office 97. When I tried to install RH2002 on
    our new PC's it failed as the new MS Office was incompatible. So,
    we purchased upgrades to RH6. When I tried to install the upgrades
    that fails because we don't have an old version of RoboHelp
    installed. The installer prompts for a serial number/key for RH X5,
    which we don't have. I spoke to Adobe Tech support who said I
    needed to talk to Customer Support, who said I should talk to Tech
    Support......
    At the moment I can't install my old RH because of MS Office
    2003, so I can't upgrade to RH6 which I need to support MS Office
    2003. Has anyone ecountered a similar problem in the past? What it
    Adobe provide as the solution?
    TIA
    Mick Mathers

    They don't have X5 Colum.
    Mick, you could be in trouble here. You can upgrade from any
    version. I am not sure if you have to go via Support if it is
    earlier than X5 but the issue here is that you don't have your 2002
    serial number to start with. The link below tells you what to do
    but because your version is outside the parameters, it maybe that
    Adobe cannot help you if you did not register.

  • Upgrade from old MBP questions; SSD Startup Drive w/HDD Storage Drive?

    Hi!  I currently have a 2.4 GHz Core Duo 13" Macbook (old) with 160 Gb HDD and 2 GB of memory/RAM (4 years old in February).  I love the OS and how everything (computer, iPhone, camera, internet, etc) all sync up together and how easy everything is to use; I don't think I could buy another computer that wasnt an Apple.
    My laptop is sadly slowly showing signs of sluggishness and the battery life is not doing so well...  also, I am starting to get sick of looking at such a small screen.  I am considering upgrading to a new 15" Macbook Pro but am concerned as to whether or not to upgrade to a SSD (mainly for the lightning fast boot time). With an already steep price tag, I am very reluctant to shell out an extra $550 for a smaller 256 GB (albiet SSD) hard drive.
    I have a few questions before I decide to upgrade and am seeking some assistance from a knowledgable community to assist in my decision making...
    1)  In regards to comparing the 13" Dual Core to the 15" Quad Core - is the processor making THAT big of a difference as far as how quick the OS and programs are running?  I had a friend bring this up and although I stated I would like to upgrade to a larger screen, the $$ makes a lot of difference...
    2)  Regarding the SSD's...
         a)  Are they truely worth it?
         b)  Is there a "third-party" vendor where I can purchase a similar sized SSD and upgrade/install myself for less than the $550 Apple is asking for?  (256 GB or larger)
         c)  Does either notebook (13" or 15") have the internal capacity to house a second hard drive to hold the OS and boot programs (SSD Boot/Start-Up Disc)?My thoughts here are to have a large capacity HDD for storage (music files, documents, mail, programs/apps, etc) and much smaller SSD used simply to get a lightning fast boot-up time.
         d)  Is the technology expected to take a turn in the near future (6 months to a year) to either become the standard or greatly reduce cost?  Should I wait?
    3)  What to do with my old Macbook... is there a place to sell it to get cash to cover the cost of the new notebook?  What is the most efficient way of migrating data from the old hard drive into the new?
    Your thoughts/speculation/opinion are greatly appreciated and I thank you in advance for your responses to help me through this dilemma.
    Thank You,

    2.
    a) yes, I had an HDD and switched to a 3rd party SSD.  So I am speaking from firsthand experience.
    b) yes, check here: http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/hard-drives/2.5-Notebook/ as an example.
    c) yes.  you need to remove the optical drive and use something like this: http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other+World+Computing/DDAMBS0GB/
    d) who knows?  if you need something now get it, if not wait
    3. try craigslist or eBay.  To get old data from old hdd to new hdd use a cloning program such as CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper!  you will need an external enclosure for the new hdd..with the new hdd in the external enclosure plug it into  usb port on the new mac, clone the old drive to the new one.  make sure to format the new hdd a mac os extended (journaled).  swap drives.

    Hi,
    Incase of upgrade there are two types of upgrade,
    1. Unicode error upgrade.
    2. Non-unicode upgrade.
    What is the difference between SAP UNICODE and NON-UNICODE UPGRADE?
    UNICODE: From Release 6.10, ABAP supports multi-byte coding for characters in Unicode.  Prior to Release 6.10, ABAP used only character sets that were based on single-byte codes u2013 such as ASCII and EBCDIC u2013 or double-byte codes, such as SJIS and BIG5.
    NON-UNICODE: This non-unicode error removal is just to replace any obsolete commands or function modules, tables such as, WS_UPLOAD, UPLOAD, etcu2026
    I have not worked on UNICODE upgrade, so i could not be alble to tell you anything regarding that.
    Normally the below kinds of work comes in a Non-unicode upgrade:
    Tables: Replacing TVARV by TVARVC  -> Table of variant (MANDT fld added)
            Replacing SADR by ADRC  -->address mgmt company data
    Tables: Field Changing table  BKPF - Acc doc header
                                 T001 - Company Codes
    Replacing  obsolete DOWNLOAD Fm with Method CL_GUI_FRONTEND_SERVICES=>FILE_SAVE_DIALOG;
                                               GUI_DOWNLOAD as per usage.
    Replacing  obsolete UPLOAD Fm with Method   CL_GUI_FRONTEND_SERVICES=>FILE_OPEN_DIALOG;
                                               GUI_UPLOAD as per usage.
    Replacing  obsolete WS_DOWNLOAD Fm with FM GUI_DOWNLOAD as per usage.
    Replacing  obsolete WS_UPLOAD Fm with FM GUI_UPLOAD as per usage.
    Replacing  obsolete WS_EXECUTE Fm Method CL_GUI_FRONTEND_SERVICES=>EXECUTE
    Replacing  obsolete WS_FILENAME_GET as per MODE Option. replaced by Method
                                -->CL_GUI_FRONTEND_SERVICES=>FILE_SAVE_DIALOG
                                -->CL_GUI_FRONTEND_SERVICES=>FILE_OPEN_DIALOG
    FM POPUP_TO_CONFIRM_LOSS_OF_DATA is obsolete.  replacing by POPUP_TO_CONFIRM
    FM POPUP_TO_CONFIRM_STEP is obsolete.          replacing by POPUP_TO_CONFIRM
    FM POPUP_TO_CONFIRM_WITH_MESSAGE is obsolete.  replacing by POPUP_TO_CONFIRM
    DIAGONSE_TEXT -> SE61
    o ANSWER - J N A
    N ANSWER - 1,2,A
    FM WS_QUERY is obsolete.  replacing by CL_GUI_FRONTEND_SERVICES=>FILE_EXIST
                                          CL_GUI_FRONTEND_SERVICES=>DIRECTORY_EXIST
    Replacing  obsolete WS_ULDL_PATH as per MODE Option. replaced by Method
                                -->CL_GUI_FRONTEND_SERVICES=>FILE_SAVE_DIALOG
                                -->CL_GUI_FRONTEND_SERVICES=>FILE_OPEN_DIALOG
    PARAMETERS  in FM's.
    G_SET_GET_ALL_VALUES -> Formal Parameter NO-DESCRIPTRION Changing to NO-DESCRIPTIONS
    DDIF_FIELDINFO_GET   -> Formal Parameter SETNR(Langu Fld) Changed to  LANGU

  • Upgrade from old version being corrupt

    If my version of mac os x 10.4 which is on the computer is corrupt then can I use the upgrade version to mac os x leopard?

    I don't know why not...
    The Leopard install disk is a full install, and you'll be given the option to do an erase and install, or to save your old settings and data during the install.
    Your computer should be left with a full, new, OS...
    Be forwarned, Leopard takes more HD space (about 5Gb more, I believe). Take a look at the requirements before you purchase, if your HD is a smaller one, or your cpu is slower...

  • Time Machine Error when upgrading from old iMac to new iMac

    Hi. I recently purchased the new 27" iMac and just completed migrating all data from an old PPC iMac. When I went to activate Time Machine and begin backing up on an existing 1TB Time Capsule, I received the following Time Machine error: "The backup disk image "xxxx" iMacG5 sparsebundle" is already in use."
    Does this mean I need to go into Time Capsule first and delete the old iMac's sparsebundle before activating Time Machine on the new iMac? If so, is it safe to just drag the sparsebundle file to the trash?
    Thanks!

    No, you shouldn't have to do that, but you may want to if the TC's disk isn't well over twice the size of the data you're backing-up.
    Most likely, all you have to do is eject the sparse bundle via the Finder.
    A new feature in Snow Leopard will allow you to continue backing-up to the same sparse bundle. See #B5 in the Time Machine - Troubleshooting *User Tip,* also at the top of the +Time Machine+ forum.
    If so, is it safe to just drag the sparsebundle file to the trash?
    Yes, but if there's nothing else on the Time Capsule, this will be much faster:
    Use the +*Airport Utility+* app, in your Applications/Utilities folder.
    Select +*Base Station > Manual Set-Up+* from the Menubar, then Disks in the tool Bar, then Erase.

  • Upgrading from old PC board to newer PCI-6711

    I have an old VB 6 program using Componentworks.
    I use a PC-AO-2DC board to output an analog voltage using the CWAOpoint.singlewrite command.
    Works fine with the old board but no output with new PCI-6711 board.
    Set new board up as device 2 as with old board.
    Works fine in test panel.
    What am I missing?
    Thanks

    Found it myself.
    For some reason the new board did not pull the CWAOpoint information from the Activex properties.
    Had to add a CWAOpoint2.device and .channelstring statement to beginning of program.
