Upgrading from  PS5 Extended to Creative Suite 6.

Do I need to uninstall Photoshop CS5 Extended, prior to installing newly purchased CS6 Creative Suite?

No.
CS6 will install into its own folder(s) alongside the existing CS5.

  • How do you upgrade from CS 5.5 Creative Suite to CS6?

I heard there's a way to upgrade from CS 5.5 to CS 6, and am wondering how.
    Thank You!

There was a deal for a free upgrade back in mid '12, I think. I didn't act on it as I was super busy and/or traveling. Anyway, it's over now. I just bought CS6 today myself. I ordered the box vs download as I was experiencing long times and errors trying to get the .dmg for CS5.5 so I could install on my new machine. It's $375 US for CS6 if you own 5.5. Just go to their product page.

  • I upgraded from PS5 to PS 6 and Bridge will not open in RAW, AMT Failure, also will let me update

I upgraded from PS5 to PS 6 and Bridge will not open in RAW, AMT Failure, also will not let me update and closes Bridge down.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times and still no success. Any suggestions?

What system are you on? Did you run the Creative Suite Cleaner Tool inbetween your install attempts? If not, try that to produce a "clean" install with factory defaults. Other than that there could be some specific system issues at play, but again, we'd need to actually know what system you are on...

  • I want to upgrade from Photoshop Extended CS5 to PS Extended CS6 (I do NOT want CC) but have been unable to find this at a sensible price (or sometimes at all). Help, anyone please?

I want to upgrade from Photoshop Extended CS5 to PS Extended CS6 Mac (I do NOT want CC) but have been unable to find this at a sensible price (or sometimes at all). Help, anyone please? This is in UK, btw!

What do you consider a sensible price?  PS CS6 extended is available only when you purchase the CS6 Suite, which is around $1000 for the upgrade from CS5.  PS 6, which is not extended, is about $200, but I'm not sure about upgrading to a single app from a suite.  Adobe used to allow it, but I'm not sure about now.  PS CC and Lightroom 5 combo is $9.99 a month or PS CC alone for $19.99 or the whole CC suite for $29 a month.  The latest CC apps are "extended."

  • Is it possible to upgrade from CS6 Extended version 13.0 x64 to the latest version?

Is it possible to upgrade from CS6 Extended version 13.0 x64 to the latest version?

There are three current version of CS6  perpetual  versions Mac version 13.0.6 and Windows Version version 13.0.1.3 and there is a creative cloud  sibscruption version 13.1.2.
If you running Windows on a 64Bit system and install Perpetual CS6 it would have installed at version 13.0.0 and the be updated to version 13.0.1.3.  Both a 32 bit version and a 64 bit version of Photoshop would have been installed on your windows system.   The 32 bit version will be in your windows  "Program Files (x86)" tree anf the 64 bit version in the "Program Files" tree there should be two startup icon in the start button for starting CS6.
There would also be a 32 bit and 64 bit windows subscription version installed on windows.
    Mac CS6 is 64bit only.

  • Upgrade from CS4 Extended Education to CS6

Two questions here. I purchased the educational version of CS4 Extended back when I was in school. No longer in school, I wish to upgrade to CS6 non-educational. First question: Can I upgrade using my educational licence to a non-educational one? Second question: Can I upgrade from CS4 Extended to CS6 Standard? I have no need of the extras with Extended.
    Thanks.

Yes and yes. refer to the buying guide on the product pages.

  • Upgrade from Captivate 4 to eLearning Suite 6.1 was easy last year.  After re-installing, Captivate 5 is minimum requiry?! Now, I can't license anymore. What should I do?

Upgrade from Captivate 4 to eLearning Suite 6.1 was easy last year. Needed Cap4 for licensing eLearning Suite 6.1.
After re-installing Cap4 on a new PC, Captivate 5 (and other products like XSuite or CS6)  are minimum requiry?! Now, I can't license anymore. What should I do?
Here's the message i get (in German):
    "Seriennummer Upgrade
Die angegebene Seriennummer ist zwar gültig, auf diesem Computer wurde aber kein als Berechtigungsnachweis geeignetes Produkt gefunden"
"you're serial number is correct, but you don't own a product that is an eligibility verification".
Why is that? Is Cap 4 not eligible anymore?

First, thank you kglad. Contacting the support seemed to me like the ultimate last chance and since there are so many FAQs and informative forums and blogs I thought I could find an answer there, but, you were right. Contacting the support in that case was the only way to solve the problem.
Second, for everyone dealing wth a similar problem. Cap 4 is still eligible. It is just hided in the mask you have to insert your serial number. The support staff will fix your problem within a few seconds.

  • Why can't I upgrade my student version of creative suite to a professional version?

I purchased the student version of creative suite 6 in January to learn the software for a class that my job was paying me to take.  We decided that the software was worth investing in so my company wants to upgrade my student version to a professional version.  ( It turns out I am not allowed to use student version software for professional purposes - I don't know if that is a law or just a rule).  So I call up customer support to pay for the upgrade and cancel the student version.  I am told this isn't possible and that they have to create a whole new account and charge me a cancellation fee for my old account.  Then they send me to a sales rep who was a total jerk and told me he couldn't help me and spent 20 minutes seriously making fun of me.  What kind of sales rep makes fun of people?  Then he sent me back to customer support who of course couldn't help either and they had to then sent me to a cancellation guy.  By this time, I had been on the phone for an hour.  So this guy tells me my current contract requires me to pay $79 a month and to cancel it will cost my $280? WTH?  My student version costs only $30 a month.  I have invoices to prove it.  So then he charges me $112 to cancel but he can't set up a new account.  Of course, that has to be done by somebody else.  But after this horrible experience, why should I sign up AGAIN?  And why did I have to pay $112 to cancel when what I really wanted was an upgrade?

Fasiababy1 I am sorry that you have had a difficult experience.  As Ned mentioned if you have an annual contract then your best option is to continue utilizing the student version of the software.  You are also welcome to use the Student and Teacher Edition commercially you can find more details in the Education FAQ - http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/education-faq.html.  In specific the following element is relevant to your inquiry:
Can I use Student and Teacher Edition products commercially?
Yes, Student and Teacher Edition products can be used commercially.
In addition for more details regarding canceling your subscription please see our discussion regarding questions for your Creative Cloud subscription at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1146459.
Finally do you have a case number which I can reference from your interaction with our support team?

  • When/how do i download the CS6 upgrade promised by deal on Creative Suite Design Premium CS5.5?

    Hello
I purchased from Adobe Creative Suite Design Premium CS5.5 Student Edition. The deal Adobe had promised was a free upgrade to CS6 as soon as it became available to do so, if i bought the package before a stated date, i did so and installed it. My question is how (or when) do i access my free download of CS6 versions of the software contained within Creative Suite Design Premium CS5.5. My pruchase of the product hinged on this promised free upgrade so it is very important to me to find out how/when i can expect the download.
    yours sincerely
    Edward Dillon

If you purchased CS5.5 within the offer period then you might have already been upgraded to CS6. However, you don't have to worry at all.
For the best assistance, I recommend our chat support at http://adobe.ly/yxj0t6. Our chat representatives can provide a personalized experience to resolve the issue you have described.

  • An Open Letter To Adobe Systems from Scott Kelby about Creative Suite pricing

This would allow, this time, to upgrade from CS3 onwards to CS5.5, and get CS "next", bypassing, this time, the one version limit.
That's true, and it's something I was thinking about afterwards.  I remember after CS5 was announced, there was a grace period of several weeks where if you bought or upgraded to the CS4 version of your suite or product, you'd be entitled to a free upgrade to CS5 when it shipped.  If that was the case this time around, then I would take advantage of it and upgrade to CS5.5 during the grace period in order to get CS6.

But in fact the Creative Cloud is already cheaper if you add the point versions upgrades, subscriptions to Muse, Carousel and maybe Edge, plus the price of whatever tablet apps are released.
    Compared to the Master Suite.
If one uses only, say the Video Production, and has no need for the other offerings, going the Creative Cloud way is more expensive.
While that's true, there are also many people who find the prospect of cloud software subscriptions unappealing (myself, for one).  I vastly prefer paying for something once and having it from that time on.  The Creative Cloud subscription seems like a good deal for those who don't have that prejudice, or those who might want to use the additional "cloud" services that the boxed/download perpetual license won't have, but that won't be enough to change the minds of many customers.  The Creative Cloud will apparently be around $50 a month, so it works out to $600/year.  Assuming Adobe sticks to a 24 month cycle for major versions, always with a x.5 release around the half-way point (and assuming the upgrade prices for the perpetual license stay about what they are now), then the Creative Suite "box" upgrade will still  be slightly cheaper, dollar-wise.  To upgrade from CS5 to 5.5 is $550, and I'm assuming 5.5 to 6 might be around that same price, and then CS5 to 6 assuming the $950 position on that upgrade guide chart).  When we're going to CS7, then I assume those prices will remain about equivalent for upgrades from CS6 and 6.5.
However Adobe decides to deal with this customer backlash, there are numerous ways they can appease most of us.  Sony Creative Software has the most generous upgrade policies I've encountered for their products (granted, they only really offer competing products for Premiere Pro and Audition); Adobe is looking mighty greedy next to such companies right now. This thread alone has some good suggestions,
    1) Allow a grace period with CS6 so that users of CS3 and CS4 aren't left out in the cold, becase many of us will simply go elsewhere if this doesn't happen.  This could either take the form of an "upgrade to CS5.5, receive CS6 free" once CS6 is officially announced, or a period of 1-2 months after CS6 ships during which upgrades from CS3 and CS4 are allowed.
    2) If they stick to the "1 version back", a price reduction of a couple hundred off the suite upgrades might help soften the blow.
    3) Consider a "2 version back" instead.
Or some combination of features from the above.
Truth be told, if Adobe sticks to a ~24 month release cycle for major versions from here on out, I wouldn't really be opposed to upgrading every major version.  $950-$1000 every 2 years to keep the Master Collection current sounds like a pretty good deal to me.  But if Adobe expects me to buy CS6 as if I'm a new customer when I own both CS and CS3, they're in for a rude awakening.
