Upgrading NW Developer Workplace

I have just installed NW Developer Workplace SR1 (i read somewhere that SR1 is equivalent to SP09).
Now, my production and NWDI are in SP11.
How can i upgrade my NWDS and local J2EE engine to SP11?
Do I upgrade the local J2EE engine first to SP11 (using JSPM) first, then upgrade the NWDS? Or there is no particular order to do the upgrades?
For NWDS, how can i do the upgrade? Do I download a new installer from SDN and install it over the previous version, or is there some JAR files that I just patch the existing NWDS installation?
Thanks.

Thanks.
What about the first part of the question?
Am I right to say that upgrading the local J2EE engine requires JSPM?
If so, can you point me to any information on the steps to upgrade and where to get the necessary SPs?
Thanks.

  • Developer Workplace NW04s sp09

    Hi,
I patched my NW Developer Workplace to sp09. The patch is finished correctly but when i start the NWDS the first time after installation i see the screen with: "Completing the installation...." Nothing wrong, but when what i notice is that the icon in the topleft of the screen isn't the normal NWDS logo and when i close the NWDS and start it again i still get the message "Completing the installation...". I reinstalled the complete NWDS but it didn't help.
I hope somebody can help me.
    Kind regards,
    Maarten.

I think i found out when this error occurs. When you start NWDS with the user where you also did the upgrade with. The error will occur. When you start NWDS with another user everything will go well.
    Hope it helps
    Regards Maarten.

  • SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SR3 Developer Workplace Installation on Windows 7 64-bit

I am trying to install 32 bit version of NW 7.0 SR3 Developer Workplace (Max DB) on Windows 7 64 computer but the installation fails. Has any one tried this?
Is SAP planning to release 64 bit version of Developer Worlplace?
Edited by: Anand Bhambure on Aug 7, 2010 12:44 PM

    Hi Julian,
I assume we are talking about NWDS 70X, because higher NWDS releases are fully supported on win7.
Please note that there is a difference between something is working and whether we can provide support for it.
See the official statement on this in the note:
    #1566977 - NWDS on Windows 7
    which says:
    7.00:
There are successfull installations of NWDS 7.0x running inside and outside of SAP.
Please make sure that the NWDS is running on a supported and correctly configured JDK.
Please acknowledge that while you may successfully install and run NWDS 7.0x on Windows 7 this still is not a supported OS! Running NWDS 7.0x on Windows 7 is at your own risk.
    Best Regards,
    Ervin

  • MaxDB and Developer Workplace

I would like to install SAP Netweaver 2004S SR2 Developer Workplace on my windows XP desktop. I am using the official DVD containing the Developer Workplace, but the installation requires the maxDB. Where can I get a copy of maxDB suitable for my installation? On the internet I found many places from which I can download a copy of maxDB, but which one is the right one?
    Thanks in advance.

It´s on the DVD - no need to separately install something, the installer will automatically install and configure the database.

    51036767_7 (NW_7.01_SR1_Krnl_WIN_AIX_z_OS_HP_SOL)
I have just downloaded the latest release of MaxDB, but I understand from the note that this version is not compatible with NW 7.07 without additional steps.
Thanks for the Note, I will try download MaxDDB 7.7 and try again with that version right away.

  • Developer workplace installation issue (access) in Vista.

    Hi All,
I am trying to install NW04s SR2 Developer workplace (Max DB,J2EE Engine and Developer Studio) in my Windows vista home premium machine. The SAPinst stops with an access issue while coping some file to c drive.
I did not try switching off the UAC (User account control) and would like to know if some workaround is possible.
Did anyone faced a similer issue and found a solution.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Bikram

Vista Home is not supported, it lacks some functionality the kernel needs. You need to use Vista Business (at least).

  • Problems installing Netweaver Developer Workplace 2004

    Dear Netweaver experts,
I have severe problems installing Netweaver Developer Workplace 2004 on windows XP.
I used sapinst for installing the Java sytem (Menue Java System->Oracle->Custom Installation).
After running through 34 of the 35 phases during which the sapinst tries to start the freshly installed J2EE engine I got the error :
CJSlibModule::writeError_impl() CJS-20057 Starting J2EE Engine J00 of SAP system J2E failed: after 84 s the state of the engine changed from "Starting" to "Stopped".
and changed my memory setting using the configtool.
Afterwards I tried to start the server in my MMC and it seemed to be running.
    INFO
Execution of the command "D:\usr\sap\J2E\JC00\exe/startsap.exe 'name=J2E' 'nr=00' 'SAPDIAHOST=K-0017553'" finished with return code 0. Output: STARTSAP continues...
But when I had a closer look at the Process table at the MMC I saw that the server0 wasn't running
(Server 0 stopped Exit Code -2).
Now I don't know how to proceed.
Does someone of you know how I could get my J2EE server running ?

  • Developer Workplace on Windows 64 bit

    Hi,
I'm installing Developer Workplace on Windows 2003 Ent.64 bit with SQL Server Dev.64 bit. Although I got some warnings regarding the Developer Workplace which is 32 bit and the OS is 64 bit, I continued the installation and the installation does not pass the "Start Java engine" part in Task Progress. I got error saying that the Java engine did not start. I tried it several times but it's the same problem.
