Upgrading process template from tfs2010 to tfs2013
Hi Guys
I have migrated My TFS2010 to TFS2013 on new Environment. Everything migrated successfully except process templates.
I have customized process templates from tfs2010 ... I cant see my customization in tfs2013.
Please guide me how it can be possible.
Moreover ,i cant see code reviews and rest of new features of tfs2013...

If you want configure the old team project use new feature in TFS 2013, you need to manually configure the new feature, please refer to the information in this document:

If you want use the customized process template to create new team project in TFS 2013 Server, you should download the TFS 2013 default process template(s) from TFS 2013 collection, then edit the process template(s) to meet your requirement, then upload
the customized TFS 2013 process template(s) to your collection to create team project.

Migrating from TFS2010 to TFS2013 and SharepointFoundation2013 on WindowsServer 2012 R2
Hi,
I am in the middle of a migration project to upgrade our TFS2010 instance to TFS2013. Our new environment will be a VM using Windows Server 2012 R2 64 bit along with SharePoint Foundation 2013. The SPF2013 SP1 needs to be installed separately since
the one that is bundled with TFS2013 doesn't work with R2 (not SP1). I am having trouble understanding the order to which to do things to get this to work. I actually got it to work the first time and now going back trying to redo my steps with detailed docs
is proving more difficult.
We have begun by doing a BackUp of our TFS2010 environment and then Restoring that to our new TFS2013 VM.
I am then installing SharePoint Foundation SP1 - prereqs then Install.
I then begin to wonder about the screens as to a) connect to existing server b) create new server
Although I would think that I want to connect to existing since we have a database we've Restored I am given an error
At what stage do we run the migration tool that updates all the database schema etc to the new 2013 format?
I am being told that "Cannot find an existing configuration database located at the specified database server...
Could someone please list the steps to do this migration? None of the steps I am trying seem to work through.

TFS 2013 and SharePoint are different systems with a very thin integration between them. Hence the upgrade scenario should be viewed as two different scenarios.
On one hand you have the TFS databases (Tfs_Configuration, Tfs_<TeamProjectCollection> and Tfs_Warehouse), on the other hand you have the SharePoint databases (SharePoint_AdminContent, etc. Now, the TFS upgrade will only modify the TFS databases while
the SharePoint upgrade will only upgrade the SharePoint databases.
So what you need to do is the following:
SharePoint upgrade:
Install SharePoint on you VM. This will create a new SharePoint_AdminContent, etc. databases
Detach all content databases on your existing SharePoint instance
Create a backup of the content databases and restore them on your VM
Attach the content databases on your VM. This will trigger an upgrade of the content databases if the SharePoint version differs.
SharePoint on your VM should now be operational with the same content as the old SharePoint instance
TFS upgrade:
Restore all TFS databases (Tfs_Configuration, Tfs_<TeamProjectCollection> and Tfs_Warehouse) on your VM
Install TFS 2013
Select the "Upgrade" option in the wizard. Point it to the Tfs_Configuration database you just restored. This will upgrade all TFS databases to the new database schema

In the Team Foundation Server Administration Console you need to integrate the existing installation of SharePoint -
Our TFS production server is 2013 and the update is 12.0.21005.1 version. How to get the latest upgraded process templates to apply our customizations. Can we get the process templates as a separate download or need the TFS to be upgraded to latest 2013

We already upgrad 12.0.6/solaris sparc 64/10.2.0.3 to 12.1.1/soloris sparc 64/11.2.03 in TEST env, application team tested and green sigle to move production.
we have 4 days Holiday, so we are planning upgrade on production. as APPSDBA i m doing upgrade with my team OS admin/application consultant & some of the users.

E-Recruiting: Process Templates Transport

In e-Recruiting, Is it possible to transport process templates from DEV system to QA system?

just because the tables of the process template are not linked to the transport system directly it does not mean that transporting is not possible. You can transport every table entry even application data.
You could add the entries for the tables of the process template and the assignment of activities to the process template to a transport request by hand. Even if the tables are type A the transport system only shows a warning.
The trouble with transporting process templates is the assignment of questionaires to activities. As the questionaires are usually not transported they have different IDs on quality and production so the data of the process templates is invalid and has to be reworked with a lot of effort.
In the end creating the transport by hand and correcting the templates costs nearly the same time as creating them again on quality and production so it's rarely worth to do it. (And as the customer's key users need some practising anyways consultants don't have to bother about it :o))

Upgrade Process from SQL 2005 to SQL 2012
Hi All,
I have gone thru multiple threads and would like to understand some steps in detail for me to upgrade SQL 2005 to SQL 2012.
Below is my understanding and questions around it, I would be setting up a new environment with OS 2007/2008 with SQL 2012:
Environment Readiness - Ensure new environment is ready with Win 2007/2008 with SQL 2012 Server
Run Upgrade Advisor on the new environment and point to SQL 2005 instance
Find the breaking/discontinued changes to be done before or After Upgrade
<Question>: Over here I would like to know what should be our approach to make the required changes
<Question>: Obviously I should not be making changes directly on the Production SQL 2005 server, then in that case should I take a backup/restore on the new SQL Server 2012 and then make the required changes to the database objects
like (Table schema(changing column names/datatypes etc.), Stored Procedure, Functions & Views)
<Question>: When I do a backup/restore I would also get the data along with it, so is this a recommended approach or should we only run/use the table schema creation scripts, fix the issues identified by UA and then do an Table to Table import,
any thoughts on this ?
<Question>: If I have to do a table to table Import then I should ensure there's a downtime during the Import or would I have any other better approach
So, basically my questions are around the approach of fixing the issues identified by UA and moving the database to SQL Server 2012 environment, I have around 300 databased to me upgraded.

I am trying summarize what I have understood here:
Document SQL Server 2005 environment details, Is there any tool which could give us all relevant details
I would take the backup from the SQL Server 2005 Production environment and then restore the same in a test environment which again has SQL Server 2005 and Run Upgrade Advisor on that
Probbaly run SQL Profiler as well to find out the deprecated changes to be done
I should fix all the breaking, discontinued changes on the Test system identified by UA

Now, with regards to acutal upgrade I need to identify a time window where in less activity is done during which I could have a downtime for the actual SQL Server 2005 production environment
Post downtine, I should do a BackUp for all databases from SQL Server 2005 production environment
Test on environment readiness of SQL Server 2012 can be compared against the documentation done as part of the first Step
<Question> Ideally I should a restore first in the new environment which has SQL Server 2012
<Question> Then run the Scripted changes where we fixed all the breaking, discontinued & deprecated changes

When tried to upgrade iphone 4S from 8.1.2 to 8.1.3 it crushed at the middle.
After it it not let it tern on and cannot make recovery and crush in the middle of the process with "could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (3014)"Hi bahaluly,

Upgrading iLife from 04 to 08 and want Templates from the older versions
I am upgrading Ilife 04 to 08. I want to make sure that I first keep all of the templates from the previous versions including the ones between 04 and 08. Are all old templates included with 08? If not how can I get them? i only have a disc copy of 04 and 08. 03 and older were already on my system.
The old iDVD templates are included as an option in the iLife '08 install. After you accept the EULA at the beginning of the installation, choose to Customise your install. Tick the box for the earlier themes under the iDVD dropdown.

#1 Do a complete bootable backup of your drive before upgrading. That way should anything happen you can revert back to the start and try again.

I upgraded MacbookPro 2009 from 10.6.8 to Yosemite 2 weeks ago. My iphoto is now a nightmare. i went to our local apple retailer but they could not help either. Perhaps someone can help. Beforehand the OS upgrade I made a backup copy of my Iphoto library onto an external hard drive. Lets call it BU with 50GB. I also deleted half of my photos from the default library on my laptop, lets call it DE, now with about 20GB, to gain space. I then upgraded to Yosemite.
I have also installed since a long time Iphoto Library Manager 3.8.6. (this may be the cause of the problem as it was not upgraded and perhaps thus not compatible with iphoto 9.6 which I have now after the upgrade to Yosemite) It all worked fine before the upgrade, switching in iphoto between the two libraries DE and BU.
It also worked fine after the upgrade for a few days. At one stage Iphoto asked me to upgrade the iphoto version as it otherwise could not read the photos when I tried to load the BU library into iphoto. I did click yes to upgrade iphoto. As a result I became a brand new but totally empty library, no photos.
BU was still on the external disc, however the "Master" file was empty. We fortunately discovered all photos were in another file called Old Master, also under BU. We made another copy of the Old Master file onto the external disc. Lucky we did, because shortly afterwards we could not open anymore the BU file thus had no access to anything in there. Now I have 17000 photos in a file called Old Master on my external disc and another smaller library DE on my laptop. When I tried to import the photos from Old Master into a new iphoto library it was very messy. All events dates were mixed up, many photos were imported twice. I have no idea whether all my 17000 photos have been imported.
Can anyone suggest what is the most time efficient way? How do I best import my 17000 into a new library ensuring I don't loose any in the process. I do not wish sorting through 17000 photos for a week or so. Shall i also get a new iphoto library version now? Thank you for anything that may work.Yes, the Old Master file has a folder for each year where I find all photos from that specific year. I am attaching a screen shot of the file.
In the meantime i have managed to download all photos (it did not download any video files though in mpg, avi, 3gp, m4v,mp4 and mov format) to a new iphoto library. Unfortunately the photos are quite mixed and often doubled up. I ma considering to purchase iphoto library which checks all duplicates in iphoto. this will save me a lot of time. What do you think? -
I have upgraded Apple Aperture from version 2 to version 3 and I'm having a problem with the "Highlights and Shadows" adjustment. According to the user's manual, I should have access to an advanced disclosure triangle which would allow me to adjust mid contrast, colour, radius, high tonal width and low tonal width.
If anyone has any suggestions as to how to access this advanced section, I'd be most grateful.Hi David-
The advanced adjustments in the Highlights & Shadows tool were combined into the "Mid Contrast" slider in Aperture 3.3 and later. If you have any images in your library that were processed in a version of Aperture before 3.3, there will be an Upgrade button in the Highlights & Shadows tool in the upper right, and the controls you asked about under the Advanced section. Clicking the Upgrade button will re-render the photo using the new version of Highlights & Shadows, and the Advanced section will be replaced with the new Mid Contrast slider. With the new version from 3.3 you probably don't need the Advanced slider, but if you want to use the older version you can download it from this page:

Running on Windows XP SP3. No problem whatsoever before upgrading to 27. Sending this from Chrome as I cannot open Firefox at all.Thanks jschaer2000: after starting it once in safe mode, I closed Mozilla and tried several restarts in normal mode. So far, all worked:-)

Still the automatic update process bothers me: it took me several days to discover the reason to the malfunction, since when I removed the problematic version from Add and Remove Programs, I didn't pay attention at first that it was another version, not v26 which I installed from my folder.
In addition, I like to save the installation files before I run new programs and if I didn't have v26 exe file, I couldn't have operated Mozilla at all. Not that it was fun to remove and install again each time v27 didn't react, but it was better than nothing, I still prefer Mozilla over its competition. -
