Upload an image in table item
Hi everyone
I'm just a noob with ADDT, i found it just a couple of days ago, and started to practicing a lot.
Here's my question:
Ho can i do this? imagine this add-form in the backend,
title:
picture 1:
text:
date:
Well, about this form, i can make it work almost everything, except the picture thing. How can i add this to my DB, and whats the steps to follow to get the form properly do it with ADDT?
The DB table has this fields:
IdItem -> INT -> primary key -> auto increment
title -> varchar(100)
picture -> should be LONGBLOB? any other settings?
text -> text
date -> date
Then, in the rontend, i have all properly setup, but, once again, i don't know how to manage the picture thing, i'd like that picture has a max width and height.
Finally, i see several times that some developers decide all the types that the user can upload, like "*.png, *.gif, *.jpg, *.jpeg..." i think this sentences take place in the backend form, right?
Well, that's all my question, i hope someone can help me with that, or at least give me some manual/tutorial to learn about images/mysql/file uploads
Thanks!

as neither ADDT nor Dreamweaver´s native server behaviours support BLOB type columns, you need to specify the directory below your site where ADDT is supposed to upload the file in question. The column "picture" will have to turned into a "varchar" type, because it will hold the name of the uploaded file.
Then, in the rontend, i have all properly setup, but, once again, i don't know how to manage the picture thing, i'd like that picture has a max width and height.

ADDT´s Image Upload behaviour lets you specify such settings - many of them are accessible from within the 2nd tab

How do i upload an image to a server and put the name into a database table
Ok, i found a php image upload script that im using for a cms
image gallery on my site. But for it to work the way i need to i
have to have certain information submited into a mysql table at the
same time. I could just make it so the user types the name of the
image in a second form, but i would rather not have to as it seems
a clumsy way to do things and opens things up to typos etc.
So, i can upload the image ok, and i can upload data to the
table, but i dont know what I have to do so that the name of the
uploaded file is automaticly inserted into the mysql table.
The first bit of code below is the form I am using to upload
the file to the server. The second bit of code is what I am using
to tell the server what the file name is.
How do I combine the 2 form into one? Please help. It is
driving me to dispair.

Hi Jeff:
Though this does not show you how to solve this issue via a
code
snippett, there are a couple of extensions at WebAssist.com
that enable
you to do this, they are Data Assist and Digital File Pro.
When you have
time, take a look at these Solution Recipes (tutorials) that
show how
DataAssist is used and then now Digital File Pro is used in
conjunction
with DataAssist:
http://www.webassist.com/professional/products/solutionrecipe/Media_139.asp
http://www.webassist.com/professional/products/solutionrecipe/Media_112.asp
DataAssist can be used to save time when you need to build
database
search and management applications quickly, and Digital File
Pro can be
used to include file upload functionality to your form fields
while
enabling you to insert your server file name into the
database, all on
the same page.

How to upload a image or flash file as blob object in a table.
What are all the possible ways we can do it.Searching the forum (or google) would be my first choice, as this question pops up every now and then.

Insert Image to table from a Non Database Field
Hallo,
db- 9i EE R2
forms - 6i R2
OS - W2003
I have a requirement to upload Images to the database from forms.
I planned to keep the transaction data and the Images separately in different tables with a reference.
So, I created the Image field (BLOB) with a Non Database Field in the Form and use a button to upload the Image. (using READ_IMAGE_FILE).
I tried to insert the Image to the Actual Image table in PRE-INSERT Trigger at block level.
But I was not able to Insert the using reference method. (Cannot compile the PRE-INSERT)
INSERT INTO IMAGE_TB (ID,IMAGE)
VALUES (IMAGE_SEQ.NEXTVAL, :ITINERARY_MAP.IMAGE);
So, Please help me to insert a image to different table from a Non Database Field?
ThanksI don't think it will work with a non-db-item. But you could create a separate block based on your image_tb-table, use read_image_file on the then db-based-column and then simpy issue a commit_form.

Uploading an image in interactive report APEX 4.0
Hi,
I hope you can help me. I am using the book "Begining ORACLE APEX", which is for APEX 3.1.2, to learn APEX. Now, I use the online APEX 4.0. In the 6th chapter one should add new columns to the PRODUCTS table: one for the PRODUCT_IMAGE, a BLOB column, and 3 more for MIMETYPE, FILENAME, and IMAGE_LAST_UPDATE. So, i need to make an interactive report, with this new table. I include it, but when I run the application it doesn't show. So i insert in the SQL for the report : "PRODUCT_IMAGE", and run the page again, and there i add the column using Actions button. When added, each row is is filled with: [unsupported data type]. When trying to upload an image it doesn't work. It doesn't show anything. I even tried putting: dbms_lob.length("PRODUCT_IMAGE") "PRODUCT_IMAGE" in the SQL of the report, but it doesn't work. It is like a problem with uploading the image. It doesn't do anything.
I would really appreciate your help, this is really important for my job..
Sincerely,
LeilaSee the sample application provided in your workspace, there in page no 3 they have created a interactive report showing a image in one of the column, I think it will solve your problem.

SureshSuresh, your html specifies an image at resources/images/privacy.gif - is that
image in your repository at the correct relative position to where yout html is?
Your html and repository structure must match. So if the html you posted is at
/BEA Repository/foo.html
then privacy.gif must be at /BEA Repository/resources/images/privacy.gif

How do I upload multiple images to d-base through a single page?
I can upload a single image with a form to my MySql database with no problem. It sends the file name to the database then stores the image in an image file.
But now I want to upload multiple images in the same way from the same PHP page. Each multiple upload needs to be stored to a single record (designated user that's logged in). I have a field for each image in the database.
This may give you a better idea of what the database looks like:
Username
ID
image1
image2
image3
scmeeker
5
dotty.jpg
hello.jpg
kitty.jpg
jdmeeker
7
So now I want to upload multiple images for each image field. When it works correctly, it should send the name of the image file to the proper field and then send the image to the image folder. I've tried it several ways with no luck at all.
Any one have any ideas???
Thanks!I think you would be better off having two tables in you database. One would be a users table that has all of the user data including a user id (the primary key for this table and the foreign key for the other table). The second would be an images table. You would use the images table to upload infinite (well, as many as the db can handle) images. The trick, is that each record in the images table would have a foreign key, which would be the user id for the user that uploaded the image.
This way your users wouldn't be limited to three images but could upload as many as you want to allow them to. The association of the user id, which has to be unique to each record in the users table (there cannot be duplicates, it should be your primary key on the users table), to the user id in any number of records in the images table is what will allow this to work.
EX:
The users table
user_id
f_name
l_name
email
other_info
100001

last
[email protected]
100002
