Uploaded html code is reformatted

I've asked this before but not had a comprehensive resolution.
This issue began when I moved from my apple powerpc running OSX 10.5.8 to an imac running 10.7.3 and for the reasons you'll see I'm sure this is connected with mac OS than dreamweaver, but I would appreciate any feedback from anyone else who has experienced this problem.
The Problem:
The code in html files uploaded using dreamweaver or filezilla get reformatted into one continuous line. In itself this is not a problem until javascript is included. Javascript won't function without linebreaks and so menus and galleries all stop functioning. If I download the file I can reformat the page but that doesn't stop the problem. The source code as viewed in the browser is one continuous line and that's what the browser seems to be reading.
Work around
My work around so far has involved connecting my drive up to my old machine and uploading  javascripts from there (using dreamweaver4 for powerpc). Trouble is, my powerpc power unit has now died and I don't have that option, and occasionally I actually would like to see the javascript or spry references in the document and not buried in server side includes. I'm now using my laptop running dreamweaver 8 just to upload files
So all this would suggest that it's not a dreamweaver issue. All the files are created using dreamweaver 5.5 and upload perfectly well using older versions or filezilla as long as I use an older apple OSX.
Has anybody alse had this?
Billy the kid

Essentially when you're uploading your files, dreamweaver has removed all the carriage returns.
I believe a preference in Dreamweaver.
It's called All in line Code.
It's commonly used by companies that want to make their html code difficult to read.
Have a look at google.com's source code and you'll see that it's nasty difficult to read.
I'm not sure where the preference is in Dreamweaver, but I read somewhere a long time ago that it was a feature that you could enable for your website.
You should be able to disable it for any of your java scripts, and enable it for your HTML pages.
Or disable it all together.
Call Adobe and get them to help you find it.  If it's a legit copy of Dreamweaver, I'm sure they'll be more than happy to help out!  The worst wait time I've had with them is like 15 minutes.  Not bad...

    I don't think the code rewriting settings would be a factor in your particular issue (though I'll never say never) but line break type could well be an cause. Depending on the web server, it may well treat some LF endings incorrectly. If your web server technical staff can't help, you might try experimenting with the other setttings and see if one of the other settings works correctly. UNIX-style endings are the most common, but your server might want something different.
    Regards.

  • I want to upload HTML code from an existing site and then revise in Muse. Is this possible?

    I want to upload HTML code from an existing site and then revise in Muse. Is this possible?

    HTML files from an existing site cannot be reused in Muse as Muse works only with files having extension as .muse.
    However, you use apps like Dreamweaver to edit your existing HTML files.

  • How can I get the HTML codes in illustrator?

    Hi, I am a graphic designer, and I am getting into the web world, I wanna know how can I get the HTML codes to upload a web design made using Illustrator,...¡?Does any one know?Please let me know...

    everyone here is right, dreamweaver is better and you will need to understand html for this to work. HOWEVER, you can make a functional website using just illustrator and notepad (or text edit if you're on a mac).
    Design your site in illy, slice it up with the slice tool. http://s23.postimg.org/mv311kpp7/test_illy.jpg
    Save for web and select html and images, you'll get an html file and an images folder. Open the HTML file in your text editing program and it will look like this: http://s10.postimg.org/f32nf6r2h/html_stuff.jpg   you'll have to know HTML codes but you can find tutorials online for most stuff, you'll just have to figure it out. In my fake site, i linked a button to google so i had to add <a href> tags to the code. http://s22.postimg.org/5avpadhch/a_href.jpg  save the html file and open it in your web browser, hopefully not IE. You can't tell in the picture but the middle button actually does link to google. http://s21.postimg.org/qd77slqmf/firefox.jpg

  • Html code exported instead of text

    Hi,
    I created an interactive report via a SQL query and used html code for one column in this SQL query:
    (case when test1>1 then '{a href=JavaScript:newPopup("f?p=&APP_ID.:PageId:&SESSION.::&DEBUG.:::"); }text1{a} else '' end )|| ' '|| (case when test2>1 then 'text2' else '' end ) "title 1"
    This column is displayed correctly (the text1 is diplayed as a link and text2 is displayed as text) in this interactive report, however, once user uses the download function, the html code {a href=JavaScript:newPopup("f?p=&APP_ID.:PageId:&SESSION.::&DEBUG.:::"); }text1{a} text2 is exported.
    Is there any way to fix this issue?
    Thanks,
    Ethan

    Can you tell us - exactly - what file your link is pointing
    at. For instance, it should be pointing at the HTM file, but which
    HTM file?
    Also, can yo uplease list - exactly - what ifles you have
    uploaded (list). Thanks!

    I see this problem so: upload zip file and extract to os(i use linux) and saved link to his index.html.
    IS IT POSSIBLE.
    Thanks.
    Sorry for my english.

    The simplest way to handle this would be to Upload the  page and files to a  remote server space and send your email buddies a link to the site.   Barring that....
    How to Code HTML Emails
    http://www.sitepoint.com/article/code-html-email-newsletters/
    Use  inline CSS styles for fonts and background colors.  Use Tables to hold your  page elements.  Use absolute URLs to images hosted on your web server because attached images may not get through. Give  people who can't see your HTML page in their email client a link to the HTML  page on your web server.

  • Can't access HTML code in Eloqua

    I want to enhance the functionality and looks and mobile email template. For that I am trying to access HTML Editor to modify HTML code. How can I edit HTML codes in Eloqua10?

    Hello Hammad,
    When it comes to email mobile templates, the feature that makes them a mobile template is the CSS code that can be accessed by going to the toolbox as demonstrated below:
    What this means to you is the following:
    While you cannot access the full source code of this email -- because it is a templated email and not an html uploaded email, you have two options to customize it:
    1) You can delete ALL the contents that come with the template -- the default image and text, and then add your contents to it.
    2) You can upload an email and use the css code that appears in the screenshot above.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,
    Tarek

  • Html code are moving all the rest

    Hi,
    I work with muse now 4 weeks and i like it very much.  I have not a clue about html code but i helped myself building a great site.  (www.verfcentrum.com).  I have only a big problem.  I used the facebook likebox html code which I OBJECT, INSERT HTML COPY PAST and also the mailchimp code (OBJECT, INSERT HTML COPY PAST).  They both work perfect but i cannot place them somewhere in the middle of wherever i want.  They move all the pictures around it.  What do i do wrong?  Its like they want the place around the frame to be clear.  As you see on the website i solved a little bit the problem by placing the facebook likebook in my header and the mailchimp code down under.  But as soon i move the code a little bit up al the pictures go crazy.... HELP PLS......(by the way: if i do preview everything looks perfect.  Only after uploading with filezilla it starts.-)

    have going through FOXTAB's support center but nobody seems to have had same problem.

  • Upload html files

    Hello Team,
    I followed the instructions in the how-to section to create a form to be able to upload and download files.
    It works very good. However, it does not work for html files.
    I have done that before using PL/SQL outside HTMLDB and I remember that this involved the creation of a table: ****PORTAL_CONTENTSPART which is equivalent in structure to the table WWV_FLOW_FILE_OBJECTS$PART.
    So now how this table can be used to store HTML contents.
    Thank you and appreciate your help in advance.

    This is a modfied version of the code I used on AskTom.oracle.com. Should do the trick.
    Create this table, it is pretty much a copy of wwv_flow_files
    create table  uploaded_files

    create or replace procedure  download_file (p_file in number)

  • HTML Code

    I am learning to write code and am starting with HTML.  When writing in TextEdit and opening up a brower, why does it continue to show the HTML code.  Also, I am saving it correctly and putting the correct opening and closing tags.

    TextEdit is a poor not html editor. Try TextWrangler.
    Upload your code to a server to view it,   not a browser window.

  • How to get html code out of psd file????

    Hi, I have PS CS6, and just try to work with brackets. Because I can`t extract psd files in my ps version, did it with project parfait. Then I`ve sended that file or better copied the public link into brackets and found my psd file extracted in layers in there. What I miss is the html code, which I`m desperately looking for. So how do I get an html code out of that psd file to create a webpage with brackets, without buying a new ps version...  thanks a lot in advance !

    If you not too familiar with html, you can use the save as web command. When you open the dialog box, towards the bottom you will find preview in Brower. First it will show you the image, but if you scroll down you will see the sample html that was used to create that image in the browser.
    If you need to break it up some you can use slices. Each slice will be its own image.
    The html needs to point to that image on the server.
    This means you need to upload the html and all images to a server. It also means that you will need to manually edit the html so that it has the correct folder location on the server so it can find the images.
    It is one thing to make it work on your computer, it is another story to make sure it works from a server. Usually a typo is what keeps it from working correctly. So pay attention to the url, folders and file names. Keep in mind that folders and files are case sensitive.
    Good luck.

    Hey all, im new to DW and just created a html page with a

    When i copy and paste the code that is generated in the

    my site it is not there. I uploaded the .swf file to my server
    also, i have played around with the coding a bit to see if i was

    Can you post the url to show us the page on your server? If
    you copied
    everything, it could be you have too many doc types, headers

  • I need help using customized HTML code for media players in Dreamweaver CC. My client is waiting patiently for this issue to be resolved.

    When I add multiple media players to my web page and upload them online, all four mp3 files begin to play at one time.  I need someone to take me through the steps to create playback controls in the HTML code so that the media players DO NOT play until the viewer clicks the "play button."

    By default, HTML5 videos do not autoplay on page load.
    <!doctype html>
    <html>
    <head>
    <meta charset="utf-8">
    <title>HTML5 with Video</title>
    <!--help for older IE browsers-->
    <!--[if lt IE 9]>
    <script src="http://html5shiv.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/html5.js"></script>
    <![endif]-->
    </head>
    <style>
    video {
        max-width:100%;
        display:block;
        margin:0 auto;
    </style>
    <body>

    the video tag. </video>

  • HTML Code will not generate Thumbnail image.

    For Months I have been using this html code to generate a thumbnail image on on of the pages on my site. It essentially creates a player for the podcasts that I create on www.buzzsprout.com. Buzz sprout our the ones that provide the html code to put on your site.
    Here is the code: <script src="http://www.buzzsprout.com/XXXXX.js?player=large&limit=1" type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8"></script>.
    The XXXXX in the code represent the numbers for the individuals podcast page where the podcasts are displayed once they have been uploaded to their site. Soon after the latest update I have been unable to generate a thumbnail image on my site using this code. Why is that?

    I am not sure what you mean be sharing a sample project. The website in question is www.ccont.com. Can't you create a page and paste the html code on it and see if it generates a thumbnail image. Use this html code that include my account number: <script src="http://www.buzzsprout.com/22782.js?player=large&limit=1" type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8"></script>
