Uploading files to Doc Library

Hello everyone,
is there an easy way to upload files into a library without(!) having any client assembly? Like just a WebService or anything else. I want to upload files to a https destination (sharepoint library) and it should be a beatiful way using PowerShell and direct
uploading via WebService. The file is 5 MB large. Is there a good way to do this instead of using a network drive? I was searching for it but non of them is about https.
Thanks!
Best,
Chris

Hi,
If you want to upload file from client side programmatically, the Client Object Model SDK(assembly) is required during the development using C# or PowerShell.
Without SharePoint Client Object Model dlls, we will not be able to take use of the APIs to access the SharePoint objects from client side.

  • Can't open files in Doc Library with IE

    hello all:
I have a document library which has recently shown an issue.  There are many users that access this library with no problem.  Recently, a few users (3-4) have complained that they are no longer able to view files.  They are definitely able
to see the folder in which these files reside and then even see the file names & types.  However, when they click on the files they are getting a message saying they don't have permission to view.  The permissions have never been altered and
they are showing that they have Contribute level of permissions for this Doc Library.
Now here is the really odd part...it works fine with Chrome, but not IE.  I have tried various versions of IE from 9-11, both in & out of compatibility mode.
Any suggestions you might have would be appreciated.

  • How external users can upload files in document library hosted in onpremise SharePoint?

    Hi all,
We have setup a document library(DL) in SharePoint site hosed on-premise with no direct access from public zone/internet being an intranet solution. We have some external users who need to upload some files that needs to go in this document
library. These files are quite confidential in nature so security is a prime requirement. Following are the couple of options I have in mind:
    1. External users upload their file in their designated folder to secure FTP using their own credential set. And also there is a background process (kind of directory watcher) that keep looking at the all the folders
and moves the files to document library
    2. We host a single page application which has One time password (OTP) kind of feature. External user comes to the secure site to specify Vendor team name and mobile number. OTP is generated and user is asked to specify the password along with file
they would like to upload. This page also maps the vendor name with respective folder in DL and moves the files to SharePoint there on the fly.
Pls. share your opinion about these approaches. Also welcome your thoughts if there is any other better option.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
I agree with the Margriet, the first option is simple and safe, the users could not access the document library directly.
For security, it is an importance for users not access the document library directly, it will reduce the risk of the documents in the library.
    Thanks,
    Jason

  • What can i upload file( .txt,.doc,.zip) from iphone device ?

    <Edited By Host>

Sorry, that doesn't work. First, there's no "Import" when I right click on the iPhone icon. The closest thing is "Get Pictures". When I click on that it brings up the Windows Scanner & Camera Wizard. When I click on Windows Scanner & Camera Wizard "next", it brings up the "choose pictures to copy", but all the frames are blank with big red crosses in them. If I click on "explore", it brings up all the IMG files showing under "type" that they're JPEG files. But when I click on any of the IMG files, it brings up the Windows Picture & Fax Viewer with no picture.

  • How to deal with Upload limit of Document Library

    Hi
We are working on SharePoint Online (Office365). We have a requirement to upload files of 20GB+ size. I have come across a limitation that we can't upload files to document library whose size is more than 2GB. Please provide an clarification on this
    limitation.
We want our user to upload files up to 20GB. Can we give him an option to upload file using SP Designer. If we can create a folder an user can open site in SPD then they can upload files. Is there any limitation of file size in folder.
If this is not the feasible option kindly suggest us any other way by which we can fulfill this requirement.
    Regards
    Vikrant Kaushal

    Vikrant,
Please see the SharePoint Online Boundaries and Limits document
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/office365-sharepoint-online-enterprise-help/sharepoint-online-software-boundaries-and-limits-HA102694293.aspx#_SharePoint_Online_for_2
The 2Gb file limit is a hard limit that cannot be exceeded in either on-premises or cloud based versions of SharePoint due to a SQL/File system limitation.
The best bet that you can do is look at using a storage location based in perhaps Azure and then linking to this location from Office 365. Unfortunately you can't use search crawl for none Office 365 locations, so I would think about using a links list to
surface the large files in SharePoint as a link item, thus making them available to search etc.

  • Batch uploading to a document library with content types

    Hi,
I have a document library with two content types. Now I need to upload documents to this document library. However, if I have large number of files, then uploading through web UI is a pain as metadata will not be attached. How should I automate it  from
my computer using powershell without relying on Administrator to run the powershell script. Or is there any other way to do it without using powershell? or  can powershell be run remotely from an end user computer?
Note I am using SharePoint 2010.

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you want to butch upload files to document library with content types.
There are two good tools in CodePlex which can batch upload files with content types, you can have a look at them.
DocMetaMan : Bulk document Upload and MetaData (Taxonomy) Setter
    SharePoint Multiple File Upload Script
There are some third-party tools which can achieve the same scenario, you can refer to it.

  • How to add a record in document library without upload file.

    Hi,
how to add a record in document library without upload file?
Is it possible? I want to create a folders in Document Library but inside folders i do not want to upload a file instead of just i want to create a record. I will map my local file path to the records.
Can anyone help me on it?
    Thanks & Regards
    Poomani Sankaran

    Hello Sankaran,
document library is to upload documents, without document you will not be able to add a record or Item to it.
for your requirement you can use a list and enable folders within the list and maintain the local path of the file as an item in list.

  • Uploading .WMV files to my Asset Library spawns 2 files in the library. One conent type = Video and the other = Image. Both have same name and are .wmv

My 365 site is developed this rather odd behaviour.
I think its as a result of something I did when I tried and failed to use Document Sets to mange video files.
Anyway the result is like the title say's I know get two files in the library. What's interesting is the one that is content type = Video opens up the properties dialog for Video but does not play.
The copntent type = Image file opens the image property dialog and does play.
Note that I'm the admin for the sub-site, have very litle experience, no training and have ticked the site administrator off so much with stupid questions he's not talking to me so any help is very welcome.
    Thanks

    Hi Rebecca,
    Thanks for responding.
I can't confirm that it's an OOB Asset Library becasue I don't know how to find that out. When I'm in Suite Content and click on ... then on About I get "Asset Library  A place to share, browse and mange rich media ssests, like image, audio and
video files.' I so hopefully it is. Additional information - it worked okay before I messed something up when I was trying to create a documet set. It's broken all the libraries of this type on the site.
Just tried creating a new library and I get the same problem.
Just tried uploading an MP4 file and I get the same problem.
I'm not sure what you mean by "When you uploaded the file, did you choose the content type as Video?" I use drag and drop or the Upload button and I am not prompted for a content type. The default content type is Video and I can't change the content
type to video on the file that does actually play the video. The other file is a video content type but does not play.
Sorry this is all very confusing I'm sure.
I know I've done something to mess the site settings us when I fooled with Document Set's but exactly what I did and how to fix I know not.
    Thanks again for your help.

  • Upload file in google docs is ignored in FF 4b4 (OK other browsers and previous versions of FF)

I am using Firefox 4.0 Beta 4 and think there is a problem with the "Upload file" functionality in google docs combined with the latest beta4 release of FF. It worked up until beta v3. I have also installed v3.6.8 and seems to be a problem on all such evironments. I use Windows XP. I tried to disable adblock plus but same problem persists and I have to use say Opera.
Google docs provides an excellent gateway to publish stuff to my blog and to publish plain office and pictures. I have tried to disable "Popup blocker" but no difference.
    Any help most welcome.
